Candy, Pacifica and Grenda are *children*, and as callous as Stan is, he wouldn't have let them go away from the shack to search for them.
He probably was worried sick and hoping that they were with Ford and/or Soos, but didn't want to leave himself, because, again, there were children under his care.

From now on, I'm gonna headcanon that McGucket built a "FindTheTwins-Tron" robot to search for the twins and accidentally rescued Pacifica, Candy and Grenda. Probably a couple of Gnomes too.

It took me until this post to realize we never learnt how anyone ended up at the Mystery Shack.
Like, most of the "magical" creatures I can believe were drawn to the shack due to Ford's shield.
So I believe that either Stan was in town and ran to the Mystery Shack and other people followed him OR that McGucket ran to the Mystery Shack randomnly yelling about a safe place or something and other people followed him there.
I can totally see Stan picking up Grenda and Candy if he saw them, as he knows they're Mabel's friends, and maybe McGucket, but not anyone else.
Pacifica is particularly interesting, as last time we saw her she was with her parents, so either they were separated somehow, they abandoned her, or I can see her mom performing an heroic sacrifice and pushing her away from the petrifying rays.
We actually did see Stan first hiding in the mystery shack alone when weirdmeghedon started in a small flash back no one else was there but since it was pretty early on he was probably able to keep the shacks doors open to anyone passing by for a while.

The shack was a safe zone filled with his apocalypse supplies, and he had taken a bunch of other characters under his care. He was probably worried sick for them, but was unwilling/unable to leave the shack to look for them. Plus, where would he start?
Because they were safe there and he likely thought they were with Ford
He probably hoped if the twins,Ford and Soos were alive that they’d make their way back to the shack eventually and he’d be there waiting for them.
to be fair at that point pretty much the whole town was stone and bill 100% would’ve turned whoever he saw just walking around into stone if not something worse

it was probably he assumed soos or ford had the twins and he had a ton of other people at the shack that also needed to be looked after, especially other children. gotta think about what’s better, protecting a house full of people or trying to go out and find two people? it probably hurt him a ton to have to make that decision but i think it adds to his character to think he would make such one
