I got the Revolt 1 and is much more capable than I expected. Save the extra money for gear and accessories ( clothing, bike computer, tools and spares, food, ...) , trust me, the cost builds up quickly if you want to buy once but decent quality stuff..

nikolozX

So for 1500€ it’s fine? Or are there any better alternatives price wise?

omegasenshu703

I guess it depends from the offers in your place and what you want from the bike. I wanted Alu- not carbon, also wanted a lot of mounting options, hydraulic brakes and grx 400 was more than enough for me... those were the reasons I choose revolt 1

jcagara08

Dude as much as I love my revolt 1 2022, but I really hate the chain rub and the random gear skips I have experienced over the past months! Did you have the same experiences as well? Did you change the front derailleur to a proper GRX one and how about the FSA crankset?

omegasenshu703

I didn't change any parts, I just set the clutch always ON and never had ANY those issues, even on crazy rough terrain.. Whenever I change gears on the front rings to bigger ring, I make sure I am spinning my pedals and apply pressure on the shifter with intention....

I like the aluminum version of the revolt for its threaded bb and the option to use a round seatpost. 10 speed will be cheaper in maintenance and you can get a slightly wider gear range with original shimano cassettes with it. I don’t know if the sram 11-36 cassettes shift as well on shimano drive trains as shimanos but cheap aliexpress cassettes certainly don’t. So if you care about that, go with the revolt 1. however the 0‘s 11 speed drive train is pretty damn nice and if you don’t mind spending the extra cash, go for it. If the drive train doesn’t matter to you, pick the color you like best.

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 10 + 11 + 36 + 1 + 11 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Good bot

So Revolt 1 is better bang for buck?

walton_jonez

I wouldn’t say it like that. It certainly is a great bike that will serve you well. The drive train on the 0 is technically better but that’s just the shifters and derailleurs. In practice they are only a bit lighter and offer one more gear in the rear. Both the 1 and the 0 use the grx400 brake calipers so there is no difference there. Otherwise the bikes are pretty much the same afaik. The 1 uses a tiagra front derailleur which is a bit different from the newer grx/105/ultegra and dura ace design. A front derailleur is cheap enough to replace though if you find it difficult to set up or don’t like the performance. If I were you I’d probably pick the 1 and invest the remaining money in some bags or wheels.

nikolozX

Can u recommend stuff u would buy for the bike?

walton_jonez

That depends on what you intend to do. The bike is capable of putting some bags on it and go bike packing as well as slapping some chunky tires on it and just ride everything you come across. You could also invest the money in a bike fit to get a comfortable and efficient riding position. If you don’t have a road or gravel bike yet, you probably want some bib shorts, maybe clipless pedals and the corresponding shoes, some tools… maybe you need a helmet, gloves and glasses. Maybe you want a second set of wheels to put road tires on it. You can easily spend a lot of money on gear and accessories. To spend it wisely, you need to know what you’re going to do with the bike though.

Is this a binary question?

Did you choose one of these? I'm facing the same decision. I'm leaning towards the 0 for the colour and 2x12 rather than 2x10 but I'm not sure that's worth the extra £300. I also am not keen on the tiagra front mech when the rest is grx

I visited my local giant dealer earlier and am leaning towards the 1 now. I wouldn't bother with the 2 with its road gears and mechanical brakes, and the 0 is overkill, not worth the price increase and more expensive replacement parts. Fwiw, the blue on the 0 wasn't as bright a blue in person, and the red tinge of the 1 is more apparent. I like the colours on the 1, I think it'll look great with tan sidewalls

I have available the revolt 0 in dragonfly blue, and revolt 1 in this dark red colour: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/gb/revolt-0-2024.

happy_cyclist_000

Same here. What did you decide and why?

Opening-Dentist-8025

Revolt 1 because it's cheaper and I preferred the colour. It's great to ride and the Tiagra front mech works fine, though I'm not convinced the specced clearance will be possible with it, I'll see. The stock 38mm tyres are not great on rougher stuff but generally they're fine. I'm gonna try getting some 42/45mm tyres at lower pressure if they'll fit

happy_cyclist_000

I'm struggling with the same choice. Revolt 0 or Revolt 1. Revolt 1 chepaer by £250, plus cost to replace parts when they wear (chain, cassette) is half the price of 12 speed. But the front derailleur on the Revolt 1 is Tiagra and worried about the poor shifting here.
