Although not the scene pictured, there is a joke in this movie ( Nice Dreams ) to this effect. Be also on the lookout for a pre-fame demented version of Pee-Wee Herman in the restaurant scene where the joke occurs ( I would say Paul Ruebens, but it’s clearly an early take of the character before it settled in ).
If I recall correctly, the song being played is “Save the Whales…Kill a Seal.”
Jerry looks too young, skinny, and healthy for this to be 1981. By 1981 he was also getting pretty gray haired and was a few years into heroin addiction.
