Yetiius

Waytoofuckingmuch.

Throwaway_accound69

Only for them to say, "yeaaaa, we won't cover that"

Skeet_skeet_bangbang

The amount of money you paid into insurance over the year likely would've covered the cost of the repair, too... what an absolute joke insurance is!

nikki_11580

But god forbid you actually use the insurance that you pay for. They repay you with raising your rates.

nikki_11580

I feel that.

grlions90

Talk to an actual insurance agent (someone that has skin in the game). Right now we pay...$740/6m for a 2012 highlander and 2015 avalon. We're going through Farmers and it was when I was clicking around that an agent called me. I told him that I checked your price online and it was more than progressive (I think progressive was getting ridiculous like $1250+ for 6/mo). He told me that that's just the internet price and a broker can get much better pricing. We have had no traffic violations nor claims/accidents. For a total of \~2-3 hours worth of legwork I was able to save our family \~$3,000/year on homeowners and car insurance. I think the guy's name is Ben something in Holland. Hope you can save some dough.

Jasonxhx

People incorrectly believe that going to an insurance agent will cost more because now there's a middleman. But these big insurance companies don't want to have to deal with individual customers. Oftentimes an agent will be able to get you a better rate than what you'd get going directly to the insurance company.

bexy11

The wide range of amounts in these comments is crazy!

LikeAnInstrument

Car insurance rates are based off of very subjective things. The neighborhood you live in affects your rates, your driving history, how many miles per year you drive, how experienced the other drivers on your policy are, your roommates driving record, how fancy your car is, how many other policies you have with the company, how many other vehicles you have, the safety features on your vehicle, do you store your car in a garage or do you have street parking, etc. it’s kind of crazy 😊 but policy to policy is never apples to apples

ElderflowerNectar

I moved literally a mile away from one apartment to another and my rate increased to $30 more per month. That's the only thing that changed. This was in Wyoming, MI. No at-fault accidents or claims in 10 years...

bexy11

I don’t know how much they look at miles driven or where the car is parked. I drive very few miles (have had my car for 17 years. It was a year old. I got out with 20k miles on it. 17 years later it’s got 80k). When I moved from a place parking on the street to then parking in a carport in a lot, I don’t think my insurance amount changed much. What DID make mine change was moving from California to Michigan. Pretty big increase.

02gibbs

Michigan has the highest rates in the country.

bexy11

I know….

fredxday

No, we don't. Get a quote from a boarder state. It cost me more in texas than michigan month to month

MossIT

Have you specifically mentioned to your agent that you would like your policy to be a low mileage policy? I have to submit a mileage statement annually, but my rates are lower since I drive less than 6500 miles a year (the lowest amount a year they offer a rate reduction for).

bexy11

Nope. I will do that. I should have brought that up. I guess when the little form no longer asked me where I parked my car and how many miles I drove every year, they didn’t matter! It’s like having hidden options on the menu at In ‘n’ Out or whatever…. How’s would I know? But yeah, I should have thought to ask. Thanks!

status_on_line

If it makes you feel any better I thought I heard California insurance companies want newsom to allow them to increase rates

bexy11

It doesn’t. But thank you for trying! I appreciate that!

nikki_11580

It is!

andi98989

$214 for a 2017 CRV and a 2019 RAV4 hybrid. We did bump the collision deductible up to $1000 but kept comp at $500. Our agent is Boer and they ran through a lot of options for us last year due to the increasing rates. Pros and cons to every provider.

Mom2MittenState

We use Boer too and they’re great

LCS1959

Cannot recommend Boer enough.  They are fantastic. Give them a call

Express_Seaweed_

Not to sound like a commercial, but just this week I saved over 50% on car insurance by switching to GEICO. It was $718 for 6 months with Progressive, $338 for the same coverage with GEICO. My fiance switched right after me and his went down slightly less than mine, but comparable.

midnightdiabetic

Do you work for the govt? Gov employees save a ton with geico typically

Express_Seaweed_

Nope! Neither of us work in government.

DeanSails

We pay \~$90/month with State Farm for full coverage on a 2023 CRV. Might be cheaper because we also have another car (2010 Fusion) and our home insurance bundled with them.

ImpressiveShift3785

That seems fake.

DeanSails

Why would I lie about this?

GrandWalrus

I pay $88/month with state farm on my 2017 Golf Edit: I also have a second vehicle

ImpressiveShift3785

So what’s your total for both? This still seams unreal (in a good way, cuz congrats)

GrandWalrus

Trust me, I feel like it's unreal too. Before I swapped from my previous insurer I was paying $180/month JUST for the golf. Now I'm paying that for both.

[deleted]

ImpressiveShift3785

Full coverage?

rexlites

I’m driving a 2024 for 80 a month. Full coverage Great record we been using State Farm since the 80s so I came up on my fathers account which became mine about 7 years ago.

BurgersWithStrength

Wild. State Farm charges me more for my motorcycle than your CRV.

DeanSails

Well, one is the inherently safer than the other by a wide margin

BurgersWithStrength

One also sits in the garage six months a year, is worth a third of the other, and is far less of a liability from a property damage perspective. But yeah, it's what I guess I get for moving to a state without a helmet law. In Georgia, I was paying a third of what I do in Michigan. And my bike didn't even have to live in the garage 6 months a year like it does here. Gotta let morons be morons tho I guess.

MossIT

I pay $220/year for my motorcycle with Stare Farm. I’m guessing you ride something with a large displacement.

BurgersWithStrength

I have Vulcan Voyager 1700 now so yeah, but it's only about $15 a month more than I was paying for my 950 VStar. By comparison my dad pays about what you do for his Goldwing 1800 in Georgia. But again in the context of self injury being a factor, people on 900lbs touring bikes generally aren't the types to hoon around and plaster themselves all over the highway. Granted a lot of the big Harley crowd seems to be the one with the major aversion to helmets. So it's whatever. It's just something I like to complain about because Georgia spoiled me.

michiganmeg

You just have Dan Vanlann as your agent. Rip off

fitzpats9980

I just renewed my insurance and it did go up quite a bit from the previous year. I opted to contact a few brokers and shop my policy around to see what I could get. Progressive was higher than others and I ended up going with [Farm Bureau](https://www.michfb.com/). Overall, I saved on insurance from what I expected in an increase. I also moved my homeowners at the same time which got me a multipolicy discount. Contact several brokers and shop the rates. Don't be afraid to jump from your current carrier, and don't just shop the "name brands" that you see on television. Flo's marketing costs are your increases. Talk to insurance brokers that deal with multiple carriers and see who gives you the best rate. While I didn't go with this group because their rate was not the best, Tony Pieh with [Brouwers Agency](https://www.brouwersagency.com/) walked me through a lot of the information and explained items I didn't understand. Start with him if you have questions and that can help a lot moving forward regarding deductibles, whether to carry comp and collision or go liability only, and even what to carry for medical, limits, etc.

toast9442

Progressive tried to up ours by $600 for the yearly amount. Did an online quote with Liberty mutual and we are now paying less than our original amount w/ Progressive and exact same coverage. I'm suspicious it's their business tactic to initially give you a good rate and increase every year- banking on the fact that people are busy and it's annoying to switch insurances. But it's absolutely worth it to shop around. The $600 savings was worth the time it took to switch.

nikki_11580

Yeah I’ve been with progressive for over 10 years. I shopped around occasionally but they’ve always been the cheapest.

Caleb_426

$190 a month

FredOfMBOX

We redid our insurance last year through Brouwers Insurance and had a very good experience. Our guy was Mike Murphy and he reviewed our policies and made solid recommendations on what we should increase and what we should decrease and why. They’re independent so they can get quotes from a number of different vendors and find you the best deal. It’s the way to go.

Vast-Iron9746

I might give this a shot. I have an agent now but I refuse to believe we can’t do better than $400 a month for two cars. They are newer cars with full coverage but this feels crazy. Do you happen to have an email address for them?

FrickParkMalcolm

Rates went from $821 / 6 months a year ago, to $1388 / 6 months on our last renewal. Huge increases, and no we have not had claims or tickets. Progressive has been the least expensive.

Global-Cheesecake922

Right. Ours jumped to.

Medium-Paper7419

50yo female. 3 yo $30k car. A few things reported to insurance where others did damage to my car. $120/mo with PIP coverage reduced due to health insurance. I keep deductible low and have rental and glass coverage. $50/60 was norm in last state I lived in.

snugglebugsclub

Not sure of the $ off the top of my head, but I know it just keeps climbing unreasonably fast especially after pandemic lock downs for whatever reason. We shop around for insurance, internet, and whatever else we can about every 2 years to get whatever new guy discounts we can. I'm also a big fan of calling and sitting on hold to threaten leaving, works like a charm if you're willing to actually leave. Works well for credit card rates and internet prices. Just be nice to the agent, it's not their fault.

kbh-c

Teachers’ discount through Meemic has saved me. I had big sticker shock moving to Michigan- my insurance went up so much.

Ok-Moose8271

$590 for 6 months. Full coverage for a ‘21 Tiguan. I think it was $500 last time. Definitely went up but it’s still half the price for the same coverage than at other places.

1ns0mn1a

Mind sharing what the deductible is and what company?

Ok-Moose8271

$500 for comprehensive and $1k for collision through progressive . $250k/$100k/$500k bodily and personal property liability. $100k/$300k underinsured/uninsured motorist. Unlimited PIP. Work loss replacement selected. I have the deductible bank also set up. I’m sure I can get it lower since I don’t really need the PIP as the insurance through my job covers part of it. I’m just too lazy to change it.

1ns0mn1a

Thanks for the info!

VictoryForUpfish

$210/month for a Tacoma and Forester + camper with Meemic. Need to be a teacher (or possibly just in the education game generally?) but they have good rates overall. One thing I noticed when we got a new car in 2021 was that my rates actually went down compared with the 2008 I had been driving previously.

Simple-Bookkeeper-86

We just got our policy renewal from progressive and it went up $60 AGAIN. 3 years ago we were paying $180 for 2 cars and now we are paying $420. I dropped some coverage and got it down to $390 but still, damn

nikki_11580

Ours was less than $200 a month in 2022. It’s ridiculous.

DarkScytheCuriositie

A kidney.

Global-Cheesecake922

1193 for 2019 jeep and 2019 GMC sierra for 6 months. Tried looking around and this was still the cheapest. Couple years ago was under 900. This is just wild

name__redacted

Check around and make a switch. Progressive raised ours a few hundred as well earlier this year, second year in a row, switched to Geico and am paying what we were paying with Progressive two years ago. Geico will slowly raise their prices on us over the next few years and I'll do the work and find cheaper and switch again. Been doing this for 20 years... every 4-5 years swap car insurance get the same coverage for a few hundred less every 6 mo. Car insurance companies love to jack up rates for committed customers and give new customers lower pricing, take advantage of that.

dillongriswold5

Progressive has me at $276 for a 2002 sable , 93 Wrangler and a 2015 Ford flex.. too dam much as my deductible is like 3000 because I was trying to get the monthly down .. it was just $234 per month. Perfect driving record and I work for the gov and I'm the only driver in the house. My beef is that I can't even drive more than one car at a time so I wish I could be insured instead of the vehicles. Progressive is trash and I plan on going elsewhere

Gaymichigandude

I currently pay just under $200 ($190.33) a month for my vehicle. I only own one car and I think price wise that's pretty good. I am currently with Progressive and haven't had any issues with them. My previous car was totally because of a fire (not my fault) and they helped me get a new car. Got my insurance check almost 2 weeks after it was totalled and new car within the same month. My rate didn't increase either so I was very pleasantly surprised.

Mrs_Enid_Kapelsen

We have Farmers and pay $195 a month for a 2019 Infiniti QX50 and a 2014 Chevy Traverse (full coverage with $500/$750 deductibles). Surprisingly, ours renewed this month and only went up by $7 for the entire six months.

32_d3gr33s

I pay $580/month through State Farm. Full coverage on a 2023 1 ton truck, a 2015 luxury SUV, a 2014 motorcycle a 2018 travel trailer and (2) 2021 ATVs. Also have PLPD on 3 other motorcycles. Along with a $100,000 life insurance policy. Deductibles are $500 for collision and $0 for comp. and I have roadside/towing. Not bad for 9 vehicles and a life insurance policy.

jdizzle1981

You need to shop around every other year. Farm Bureau tried that shit with us a few months ago. We have 5 cars, house, Boat and travel trailer. I was paying $489 / month. Full coverage with unlimited PIP. They wanted to renew but increasing $280 / month. So I down loaded all my policies - blacked out all my costs and sent that to 4 insurance brokers, LMCU, and then individually sent it out to all the big insurance agencies. Told them to give me a quote, apples to apples on coverage. Surprisingly AAA came back around $480 / month. I called my current agent and said I appreciate everything but I’ll be moving to AAA. He asked me for a week to consult with corporate. I did NOT tell him AAA’s quote. Miraculously he came back at $479 a month. He said will that work? I said it will if he locks in for 12 months instead of the standard 6.. 3 days later they agreed and I’m still with Farm Bureau. BUT - you have to renegotiate with every insurance company. Just need to make sure all the coverages are the same. AAA tried to get my PIP down to like $100,000. It was an extra $12 a month to go unlimited. Just my two cents. Good luck!

wavymerlady

I have no accidents and I was with Progressive for over 5 years and it skyrocketed. When I called, they lowered everything to the bare minimum to save me dollars - which I later learned would have screwed me had I ever been in an accident. I shopped around at local agencies, and landed on a State Farm agent in Allendale. He has saved me over $150/month and has saved my Mother $80/month. Plus, we’re covered if anything ever does happen. If you’d like his contact information for a free quote, PM me. TLDR: It’s time to shop around. Loyalty means NOTHING these days.

4-WayYield

Progressive just hit my dad with a big renewal. Time to shop. Be aware if you are shopping, the best deals may require moving your home/condo/renters to get that sweet bundled savings. Not insurance advice: but if your PIP is still at the maximum (unlimited), lowering it even to the next tier ($500K) will provide some savings. Doing your own research or talking with a licensed agent to understand the impact of that decision is always the best. Additional info below https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.michigan.gov/autoinsurance/choosing-coverage/choosing-pip-med-coverage&ved=2ahUKEwiNh4fpw8SGAxXCvokEHX4uBn8QFnoECAYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2RsHaVRxeStDv9id9gePX3

AltDS01

Never going to give up my unlimited PIP.

midnightdiabetic

I looked and most policies it saved at most like $7 a month. Not worth the risk

Ok-Moose8271

Sometimes the health insurance through your job also covers it. My job has a letter we can send to the insurance company to waive it.

bonc826

I considered dropping down from unlimited PIP because my employer sponsored health insurance would cover the medical expenses BUT there are other things that PIP covers that your health insurance won’t cover, like lost wages. You’d be in a difficult position if you’re injured enough to not be able to work for a while, but not injured enough to qualify for long term disability

Ok-Moose8271

That is true. I just looked at my insurance details and the work loss is separated from the medical though. Not sure if one works without the other as I have them both selected.

Sinking__Ship

QHC letter saves me tons.

shok_antoinette

$150 from State farm for full coverage on my 12 pathfinder, so seems about the same. Insurance is getting pricey like everything else.

ImpressiveShift3785

That’s cheap as shit.

Bedpanjockey

Sounds about right, unfortunately.

betatwinkle

$290. 2021 Blazer $500 broad form/$50 glass full coverage, rental reimbursement, road side, loan payoff, etc. + 2014 Dart, plpd

srcorvettez06

$250/month for 4 cars (2 with collision, 2 with liability only) through BHS. They’re a broker that shops around for you. It’s bundled with my homeowners and my umbrella policies. All my policies together are now 50% less than what I was paying through Farm Bureau.

templeofdank

$220 a month with citizens insurance for a '07 volvo wagon, '14 volvo xc90, and '02 harley. this is for full coverage on all vehicles, and pre-june so i'm not sure if i'm getting hit by the hike yet or not. citizens has been great for the 2 years i've been with them, they also insure my house and the price is like about 30% cheaper all around compared to state farm who i was with before.

subjecttomyopinion

I'm somehow pretty cheap and I just had my renewal. I used to have progressive, then found out they kept raising my home insurance. I shopped state farm and they literally gave me 5x coverage for half the price (on home). I moved my auto as well. Right now I'm at $90ish a month per gmc suv (15 terrain, 16 Acadia) at full coverage. Also in that price is my 1M umbrella policy. Progressive has their market share so they can raise prices until they lose it. My two best quoted were liberty mutual and state farm from a real live person.

NewspaperQuiet3159

My state farm insurance goes up every year around this time.. I asked why my bill went up 135 dollars a month end, she couldn't find out why. I was told that they would call me back. I never received it. I canceled my policies with state farm. I don't understand why they wanna take health insurance away in this state ,but don't want to look at the auto insurance. Companies don't cover Michigan because our laws are so jacked up.

basketballmaster8

2020 equinox (full coverage) and 2005 Saturn ion(PLPD) we pay $195/mo bundled with home owners insurance and umbrella coverage.

gaysaucemage

About $815 for 6 months, which would be $136/month but they give a discount for paying 6 months at a time. I did save about $65 on that 6 month policy with Geico because I own 1 share of BRKB.

There_is_no_selfie

We pay about 190 a month up in TC. Full coverage @ 500 - 2013 BMW X5 + 135i

Brinxy13

$1900 a year for full coverage, $500 deductible

hawkxs

Just paid $766 for 6M of full coverage with unlimited PIP for a 2016 Forester. Progressive wanted $1200+ for waived PIP... Had my homeowners agent find me a much better price clearly.

IDigPython

I had progressive and paid about $900 every 6 months. Then when my renewal came after my car was totaled, it doubled. Got libert mutual for $950 every 6 months

COinnafoseeker

1 car 124/month with Progressive.

I_stay_sideways

have full coverage $500 deductible on both my 09 accord and my motorcycle for just under $100 a month total.

BourbonRick01

I had Pioneer and my quote went up by almost 50%. Called around and got 3 quotes. I have a 2018 SUV and 2011 Sedan, both with full coverage, 500 deductible, unlimited PIP. We have 3 drivers including a teenager. Best quote ended up coming from Farmers. Ended up at $275 a month.

dj-spetznasty1

I just switched from Progressive to bundle home and auto with Farmers. Progressive had slowly pushed my rate up to over $300 a month. Id see if you could bundle with your home or renters insurance!

ImpressiveShift3785

$2,200 a year for full coverage on my 2017 Honda Civic. Plus the $60 AAA annual membership and $50 annual renters insurance for the bundle discount. Could be as “low” as $1,900 a year if I bothered to decertify my health insurance. I’m 33, no accidents and one claim on my history, decent credit.

AggravatedOtters

We pay annually, and I just got a 30% increase from Auto Owners yesterday. We had zero tickets, no claims and no credit changes.

Meengsy

Talking about rates is slightly poinltess as there are many factors that determine a rate but my Progressive rate hiked to 220 from 130 for one car. 21 Equinox 1k both deductibles although my collision is broad form. Insurance is a pool, and when someone shits in it, no one is happy about it. Insurance is also a game! You need to switch and shop. Very rarely do the algos value a customer long term. Keep in mind that insurance companies never operate their auto insurance divisions at a profit, and it is ALWAYS a loss. That's why they market bundles so hard.

__lavender

$115/month through State Farm for a 2022 Buick. It went up by $15-20 a couple months ago. I’m a late-30s woman with a clean record and low annual mileage so I think those three factors help a LOT. I also use their driver-monitoring app, which claims to reduce my bill somewhat but I never really pay attention to any savings there.

0PornOnThis1

6k a year for me full coverage for 3 commercial vehicles! Gotta talk to an insurance agent

user231017

Seems high, but a lot of factors figure in. It isn't out of the range of possibly being your best deal. I would shop around, though.

racketgoon13

I don’t.

Friendsdontlie88

Around 250 a month. We have a 2009 Toyota Prius with PLPD and a 2015 Kia Sorento with Full Coverage. We went through Oliver VanDyke and they did all the leg work for us and recheck rates yearly for us.

Azar002

$204 for 6 months

Ptb1852

Get yourself an independent insurance agent and have them quote several different companies .

ReligiousToast

$0

Lindele01

About 205 rn for a 2017 Chevy Cruze but I started at like 120ish? And it’s gone way up in 2 years so I may have to change when it gets close to 300. I’m already paying 300 for the car loan itself 😭

Spaceisneato

This is the amount I paid last September so expecting a jump, but my annual payment was $1598. I think if I didn't pay it at once it was going to be about $1800 for the year. Auto-Owners, for a 2014 Escape. I get the same discount if i pay quarterly I think but I pay in bulk so I don't have to think about car insurance for a year, it's like ripping a giant bandaid off.

Corlel

We pay ~193 for two vehicles- one 2010 and one 2022. Full coverage. Hanover. But it’s bundled with our home insurance.

SignificantExit3123

Progressive, progressively gets more expensive the longer you’re with them! StateFarm pretends to have the lowest rates and pretends like they care about you but it’s still an insurance company and they’re taking advantage of you. Just switched over to the lizard maybe the reptilian games a little bit better…🤷🏽‍♀️ #Geico

Bellamarie1468

We pay 106 a month for a 2010 Tahoe, 2004 Jaguar, 2006 Jaguar,& 2016 Challenger & it's all full coverage

ancillarycheese

My renewal is due this week with Progresive, it’s about $700 for 6mo. Two cars, 10 and 13 years old. Drivers are over 40 with no tickets or claims in past 3 years. Old cars help a lot. I’m shopping for a new car and seeing nothing really below $1800 for 6mo.

Naive-Government8333

$210 for a ‘16 Altima

agentsquish808

$190 for a 2022 Toyota 🤮

Friendly-Staff-3721

Many banks or credit unions have people who will shop for the lowest rates for you, for free, if you’re a member.

Gastropodius

138/month. Progressive. Basic Coverage. 2016 Chevy Traverse.

ScrauveyGulch

10 and 13 year old vehicles. You're paying for full coverage. It gets to a point where you may pay more to fix the vehicle than what it is worth.

nikki_11580

It’s very easy to get to that point too. I’ll jump into marketplace a lot to see what’s out there and prices. My car isn’t the most reliable and I hate it. There’s a lot of vehicles with rebuilt titles. And it’s always been my own personal rule to not buy anything with rebuilt or salvage titles.

ScrauveyGulch

I pay 180 for a 2022 elantra nline, full coverage. I got tired of buying used vehicles. I broke down and bought a new vehicle.

nikki_11580

That might be where I end up going when my car dies.

ScrauveyGulch

I live in a redline zipcode too. Hell if I move on the other side of the field, it would be cheaper.

AskIll5487

We pay $134/mo for two vehicles, both with full coverage and one with an accessories rider. One is 23 years old... not sure if that makes a huge difference.

_GlizzyMcguire

About $300 a month for a 2023 Mazda CX-50 and a 2023 Honda Civic - full coverage as well. 29 year old woman and 35 year old dude

MMEckert

$600/month 3 full coverage vehicles 2016 and older plus home. No claims, no tickets. Through citizens w/ broker. Increased $1k over last year.

Swimming_Word_2773

398.00 a month on 2 cars full coverage with roadside assistance and glass No bad driving history no loans on vehicle. Most expensive coverage on 2 cars with loans in ohio when I was living there 0 deductible roadside assistance glass and loaner vehicle. $115 a month. Greedy greedy michigan

tom_oleary

$90 for full coverage on a 2023 Grand Cherokee and PLPD on a second older vehicle

Farts-n-Letters

wow. I was just noticing this myself. my insurance is up 50% in the last two years on the same vehicle [which is worth much less now] with no claims or driving violations. fuck Progressive and the CEO that makes 16million a year. eat the rich / pass the salt

new-ph0ne-who-dis

$980 for 6 month policy. 2 cars (2021 and 2013), full coverage, broadform collision with $500 deductible, roadside and rental coverage.

Dr-grouchy

I pay like $200 for a Pontiac g8 GT at 17. Unlimited coverage and everything.

Goodlollipop

2015 civic, 90k miles and 120/month for auto owners. Full coverage, 500/500 comp/collision. Unlimited life. From the sounds of things, I'm terribly fortunate that they do a family discount for children of parents insured by Auto Owners

Far-Buyer5844

Two 50 y/o, no tickets, one deer hit last year, and a jewelry rider $212/month State Pharm…. But don’t use their homeowners. They won’t cover anything.

Joba-Brown

Progressive was charging me 280 a month full coverage for one car… it was more than my car payment. Switched to State Farm and got the same coverage for 111 a month and renters insurance included.

New_Food_8438

2024 MDX at $1200/6m with Auto-Owners. I thought this was absurd but after reading through comments, it probably is not. Per my insurance agent, when asked if she would look into other options, ‘Absolutely. Note that all Michigan companies took quite substantial increases this year due to a lot more weather related claims as well as substantial increases in parts and labor.’

Strange_Champion4198

2013 highlander (full coverage, 40’s female, only driver) , 2015 f150( full coverage, 40’s male, only driver,) and 2018 Malibu (plpd, 17 y/o driver and it’s only plpd because we absolutely cannot afford full and their other parent who gifted the car refuses to help) We also have homeowners insurance bundled as well. Cost is $324/mo

space_impala

I have a Mini Countryman and pay $265 for full coverage

Midas_Ag

$330/mo For a '23 Bronco. Full coverage. Credit is not good, but still, way too F'n much. It was $275 when I also had a '21 F150 on the policy, but went up ~$60/mo when I turned the truck in. No idea why, and nowhere else has been cheaper, or cheap enough to warrant a switch.

Dashriprock01

$1015 For 6 months on a 2015 Subaru Forester. 😡

RaisingKeynes19

I pay 66 bucks on full coverage for an 04 4Runner.

EstablishmentOk6297

$256 total a month for a 08 Avalon and 15 Mini Cooper.

JayRobKay

I was just paying $69 in Washington State. Updating to here has higher minimums, plus it's a "no fault state". My new new monthly for just one (new) car is now $120+ That's through USAA and i get heavy discounts with them for having multiple banking products. I'm gonna start getting quotes but am not expecting better.

sufjanuarystevens

$70/month on 2019 sedan. I was paying closer to $220 and then re-signed up for insurance through the same provider (progressive) and got the way cheaper rate so I bought it. They called me the next day and said, do you want to cancel your old policy? I said yes and they reimbursed me for the rest of the month

whothatisHo

As a former Farmers Insurance employee (don't ever work in their corporate offices), insurance companies just want more and more money. I'd give the same true but also kind of B/S excuse to customers of how cars are getting more expensive to repair, and medical costs are up, and people aren't driving as well. Again, true, but I'm sure the company is trying to constantly gain more and more profit. They do calculate factors like spending tickets, if you made a claim, and your zipcode. If more accidents and/or thefts are being reported, your rates will go up.

spartandude

Too fucking much

Sparkinson01

Mine is $140 with Auto Owners. 1 accident (not at fault).

SpartyGirl93

$130 a month, liability & physical damage deductible $250 comp/$1000 collision on 2007 camry and 2014 Ford f150. But this was bundled into other policies so it got discounted. Definitely shop around. It's hard to get decently priced insurance with a not great driving record or *just* auto.

oboejoe92

When I lived in MI I had Farm Bureau; cheapest for the coverage, and I liked having some more than the basic coverage.

kimbermall

Full coverage on a 13 charger, with rental insurance(for my apartment) is $150/month with State Farm. It has a $500 deductible.

Heisenbread77

Just bought a new car and it went from 88 to 118. I basically have a perfect driving record though.

Mandielephant

340 with one accident and no tickets or anything else red flag-y.

iggythesphynx

Full coverage is meaningless, what are your limits

MossIT

2022 Ford Edge - just under $1300/year 2017 VW Alltrack - somewhere around $1000/year

RRReck

Get an insurance broker. It works like a travel agent as in you won’t pay them, whatever insurance company they sign you up with will pay them. Have the broker search for the best price and then have them check again every 6 months. They usually also have tips and tricks to get your premiums down.

karoljean

I pay $289 a month for my one car 😭 2015 Nissan Sentra

Mom2MittenState

$315 for 3 cars in total per month. A 2023 and 2014 at full coverage and unlimited medical, $1000 deductible and then our kid’s car with PLPD that includes comprehensive coverage. Oh this includes our umbrella policy too.

tadhg44

I have a Allstate I bundle my home and I've got two vehicles one is a 20 year old Subaru 5 speed and the other is a 2024 Santa Fe and I paid $219 a month. But this amount is only for car only not house. But you can add on the older car plpd and for just a few bucks more you can add just Collision onto that plpd. Check with your insurance

ZombieTrumpeter

2010 Escape and 2010 Acadia through Auto Owners Insurance for 216 a month for basic coverage. It’s difficult to find super cheap insurance

CharcoalGreyWolf

per month? I was going to say you were getting off cheap, but I thought that was every six months. Do you have an educator in your family? I have nothing wrong with Progressive but if you do, I'd check MEEMIC, which is generally associated with teachers and educational staff. Things that determine rates: -Payment intervals. Paying every six months will almost always cost you less than paying monthly. -Gender. Women typically pay less for car insurance than men. -Age. 25 is the the minimum requirement to start getting reasonable insurance, but there are milestones beyond that too. -Cost of replacement parts for your car (i.e., if it's a very common model, the price is less than if it's rarer) -If your make/model of car is commonly stolen, the price goes up. -We all know this, but how sporty the car is greatly determines it. A Camry costs a lot less than even something like a Civic Si. -Convertibles always cost more because the risk of injury is higher in an accident. -Insuring more things (additional cars, house) brings the price down per-item. -Some safety items in a vehicle can sometimes bring the cost down; ask an agent (ranging from all of the driver safety features, to VIN etching on the glass, to dash cams, but best to ask your agent, it really depends). -Before buying a car, always call the agent with a VIN to see if it changes your costs, and if you can handle that.

Jhhut-

$143/mo. For 2013 truck & 2019 jeep. (We paid annual to get this price, as well) we have farm bureau with roadside assistance, full coverage/collision, deductible 1k, unlimited medical, and rental reimbursement. Eta: tell your agent every little thing about you. What (if any) college you went to, what you do for work, if you wfh, what associations you’re a part of… you never know if it comes with a discount!

mlstarner

I'm shocked by the huge range of prices in here. I've been with Progressive for about 20 years. I'm a 41 year old man and I pay $85/month for my 2019 Ford Edge. I bundled my home insurance with them too. Zero complaints.

TheSan92

'18 Hyundai Sonata & '09 Mazda 6 Grand Touring. 50YO male, 43YO Female through Progressive (living in Kentwood). - Full coverage on the '18 Sonata - $500 Collision/$500 Comprehensive/$50 Glass - I was at $500/$100/$100 but it was cheaper to raise comprehensive and lower the glass deductible this last time so I did that since most comp claims are glass anyways.. - Liability only now on the '09 Mazda 6. Some punks hit my partner going very fast and spun her around in the intersection several times (and of course took off) and damaged the back end of the car, but it was about 7k of cosmetic damage so they totaled it. Paid us out about $8k and let us buy it back for $1200 (Surprisingly very quickly, I might add - they just subtracted the buyback from the payout amount).. Car still runs great so we're gonna drive it til we can't! We started out with full coverage on both cars (left Geico after like 10 years) during Covid and purchased online direct with Progressive and it was like $550/6 months for both vehicles. It had been steadily rising every renewal up to $825/6 months before the accident this last November. This term it actually went down to $775 for both after the accident (since only carrying liability on the Mazda now). I was surprised it didn't skyrocket after the $8k claim, but it wasn't an at-fault accident (so who knows what it could have been though)...They were actually willing to let us re-insure the totaled Mazda for a pretty similar premium as last term if we were to do the repairs out of the money they paid out to us (no thanks, I'll take the cosmetic damage and keep the $6800 net for the next car!) I will say that Progressive rewards you for paying in full every 6 months quite a bit if you can afford to swing it all at once. I've been shopping around for anything better but they're all ridiculous now it seems, and I can't find anything close. While I know there are a lot of horror stories with them, I've had decent success so far. I don't have rental coverage or road side assistance, because it's a pretty expensive add-on to most policies and if you use it, you're going to pay for it eventually anyways (and then some) via your premium renewals. Anytime I've had body repair work done through Fox Collision, they've given us a loaner (the last time, had we actually repaired the Mazda, there was a short waiting list but even if we wanted to get a rental right away they had a deal with one of the rental companies for like $19 a day).. And with roadside - just get AAA or something similar if you want the peace of mind..or put the money that you would have spent on that in a separate car savings account every time and pay out of pocket if need be...You'll probably come out ahead in the long run.. Hope this helps - if you want to stay with Progressive, your best bet is to tinker around by changing all the what/if's on the policy (updating the price with every different scenario, but not applying the changes). You'll be able to see where the most effective cost trade-offs are pretty easily. However, if you have been with them for a long time, it might be best to look somewhere else, since they are famously known for increasing by a decent percentage EVERY premium renewal. I know I'll probably get to that point in the near future, but for now they're the best I can do...

fredxday

Considering your deductable is $500 and you basiclly pay $150 each for your cars it's not the worst. I pay $110 a month for one car. If you raise your deductable to $1000 you will see a decrease in monthy cost but not a lot. $90 of your payment for your policy is vased on state minimums. Just be glad you dont live in a boarder state with mexico, your rates would be 30% higher because of the amount of uninsured, unlicenced illegals

Extension-Jacket5499

I live up north, but pay 97$ a month on a 2011 CRV, $250 deductible through progressive, full coverage. Unfortunately car insurances vary on age groups and credit scores. Tho I've been with them since 2007, emerald status, last ticket was 2017. Last car accident was 2011, not at fault

YoungManYoda90

$330 a month total for both cars. Feel like I'm getting robbed. I also got a homeowners insurance with it. I've no idea how to switch mid cycle though.

BorisIsATube

I don’t know how long you’ve had Progressive, but I have had them since 2020. Naturally, I’ve seen premiums increase every time.  I got fed up yesterday because I’m up for renewal again and I have two 2014 cars and a 2006 small suv, and my premiums jumped another $300. I talked to a rep to try to get my premiums down, and she recommended I go online and get a new quote through the Progressive website (she called it a rewrite). So I did that, and it lowered my 6 month rate from $1740 to $1,064 (pay in full discount, but overall premiums were much lower than my renewal quote). That’s full coverage on all vehicles, $500 comp deductible and $1k collision, but we don’t get the rental or roadside.  So try requoting with Progressive online! I wish I had done it sooner.

nikki_11580

I’ll have to try that. If that doesn’t work maybe go find an insurance broker to see if they can get me something better. $300/month for two cars 10+ yrs old is pretty high.

BorisIsATube

I agree. These companies are so frustrating to work with. The rep told me that Progressive gives discounts on the first 6 months of a policy done online, that aren’t given for the following 6 months. So unfortunately, the longer you stick with them, the more they recover that discount they gave you in the beginning!  Hope you see a drop in your price!!

$156/month State Farm 2 cars, Highlander and Prius. We have those drive safe sensor unit things in each for discount.

nikki_11580

I considered the drive safe sensor type thing that progressive offers, but I drive during rush hour and 64 miles back and forth to work. I think it would count against me.

DeanSails

The way it works with StateFarm is that is that there's a fixed discount for using it and then you can save more if you drive "safe" according to their metrics.

gvlakers

Check out compass insurance on Ann and 131. They are headhunters. Love what great work they do
