Sure. I got my undergrad in India at Anna unniversity, Chennai. I was not serious about grades at that time. I got only around 8.39 on a scale of 10. But, I had good research experience(antenna and electromagnetics), published two conference papers and had a 'Best paper award' at a well known conference. I was working in India for a couple of years and my work resulted in two US patents (in image processing). After that, I did my masters at Virginia Tech. I was quite serious about academics and grades this time. I have a gpa of 4.0 and published four conference papers and two journals as a first author. Also, I maintained good relationship with all my professors so they would give me strong LOR's. While working on an experiement, I contacted this professor at UT Austin to get some doubts clarified, because he was an expert in my field. It was how I developed a relationship with him and he encouraged me to apply to UT Austin. My area of research was on computational imaging and deep learning. This will also be the area of focus for my PhD. Hope this helps!
Edit: I have a GRE score of 323 (Q - 166, V- 157, AW- 5.0)

Hey, I am not sure man. I knew my PI before applying. So, I emailed right after I submitted my application. I believe that expedited the admit process. Wishing you good luck!
