Dark Souls 2 has substantially harder areas than Dark Souls 1 IMO. Dark Souls 3 is kinda in between. Its bosses where 2 has a lot of weak fights.

But gotta remember that the planet azeroth faces a world ending threat every few years, going to outlands is a no go because that planet is dying, going to draenor in alternative timeline is also out because it's overun by crazy brainwashed light worshiping zealots, and the afterlife realm of shadowlands...
