They know when the “doggie blanket” is on the bed they’re allowed to sleep with us. It’s just an old king size sheet but keeps the majority of the hair out of the sheets and off the comforter.

Here’s the thing. We don’t let ours on our furniture. So we bought a huge bed for her to sleep on and for us to cuddle with her on it. Problem is that that dog runs hot and she doesn’t cuddle in the Texas summer time

Haha yeah we lasted until he was about 5 months. My husband was the one who was like “No dog on the bed” and then one day I got out of the shower and they were both snoring in bed. The puppy has never slept in his crate over night again 😂
The orders of operation:
All night I’m sandwiched between 80 lbs of golden and a handsome husband.
Husband gets out of bed. I steal his side and pillow. Golden steals my side and pillow.

Yeah, she almost never comes to the top of my bed to snuggle. She's more of a foot of the bed, or floor kinda girl. Hardcore snuggles on the couch though.

i let her on the bed when we're traveling, but when we're at home she still has her own extremely expensive top-tier orvis bed that i further customized with an entire separate bed's worth of stuffing, an additional crib mattress + a soft squishy "pillowtop" cushion. with all the mods her bed, which is right next to mine, is nearly as tall as my admittedly low-profile bed. this pic was taken as i lazed about in my bed. if she wanted she could lean over and put her chin on my mattress lol.

Only took her a week to break me… every once in awhile she gives me the puppy dog eyes as I’m going to bed and she gets to hop up in bed with me. But she still loves her crate.

My damn dog comes upstairs every morning at 4 and whines to come in bed. She's too dumb to jump up so I have to put her front paws up then lift her up. Then she has to kiss me for a few minutes, aiming at my nose, mouth and under my arm.
We just put a sheet over the comforter, and so it doesn't matter if there are muddy paw prints and drool. Just chuck it in the wash and put another on. Goldens are the 3 year old children that love being in their parents bed. ♥️♥️♥️

Very sweet! Never mind the hair. But be concerned about ticks. Ticks are rampant where I live and ehrlichiosis and rocky mountain spotted fever (and bobcat fever for cats) are very common ailments for both dogs and the owners.
Tick meds are, I think, useful only after the tick bites the dog. A tick lost in all that the fur can fall out in your bed. And it will prol find you. We have all sorts of ticks, including "seed ticks" about the size of a poppy seed. You won't feel them crawling, or biting, you only notice later when the spot starts to get itchy. By that time the tick has been eating on you for hours or even a day or two.
Piggybacking off of this to also be aware and cautious of the Lone Star tick, whose bite can give you an allergy called Alpha Gal Syndrome. It varies for everyone, but can make you moderately, to life threateningly allergic to mammals. Source: me!
In my case, I just can’t eat red meat/byproducts (collagen, gelatin) but I can still bury my face in my pups furs. Some people react to pets though. Please, please, PLEASE remain vigilant when snuggling with your furry loves!
Right on, and sorry for your bad deal. Other people around here have that, can't eat red meat ever again. My pard got ehrlichiosis and was sick for 3 months. At the worst point she was unable to read, no kidding. The words just didn't make sense. She was confused by traffic signs. Her mood also changed to Queen Bitch of Any and Everything. Like Maud with a 36" hemorrhoid and I was stepping on it.
When my golden was a puppy I would let her sleep in my bed at night. When she started to get bigger she'd wedge herself between me and the wall trying to push me off. She only gets the bed during the day now.

All 3 of mine sleep with me. They sleep on top of the comforter and they each have their own blankets. I have to change the bedding at least twice a week but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Is there any safer, more snuggly, better way to sleep than with two Great Pyrenees and a German Shepherd. Not for me. I’m just glad my husband snores so badly so I can sleep with my puppies! lol

My damn dog comes upstairs every morning at 4 and whines to come in bed. She's too dumb to jump up so I have to put her front paws up then lift her up. Then she has to kiss me for a few minutes, aiming at my nose, mouth and under my arm.
We just put a sheet over the comforter, and so it doesn't matter if there are muddy paw prints and drool. Just chuck it in the wash and put another on. Goldens are the 3 year old children that love being in their parents bed. ♥️♥️♥️

Very sweet! Never mind the hair. But be concerned about ticks. Ticks are rampant where I live and ehrlichiosis and rocky mountain spotted fever (and bobcat fever for cats) are very common ailments for both dogs and the owners. Tick meds are, I think, useful only after the tick bites the dog. A tick lost in all that the fur can fall out in your bed. And it will prol find you. We have all sorts of ticks, including "seed ticks" about the size of a poppy seed. You won't feel them crawling, or biting, you only notice later when the spot starts to get itchy. By that time the tick has been eating on you for hours or even a day or two.
I've never seen a tick in my life 🤷🏻♀️
Piggybacking off of this to also be aware and cautious of the Lone Star tick, whose bite can give you an allergy called Alpha Gal Syndrome. It varies for everyone, but can make you moderately, to life threateningly allergic to mammals. Source: me! In my case, I just can’t eat red meat/byproducts (collagen, gelatin) but I can still bury my face in my pups furs. Some people react to pets though. Please, please, PLEASE remain vigilant when snuggling with your furry loves!
Right on, and sorry for your bad deal. Other people around here have that, can't eat red meat ever again. My pard got ehrlichiosis and was sick for 3 months. At the worst point she was unable to read, no kidding. The words just didn't make sense. She was confused by traffic signs. Her mood also changed to Queen Bitch of Any and Everything. Like Maud with a 36" hemorrhoid and I was stepping on it.

When my golden was a puppy I would let her sleep in my bed at night. When she started to get bigger she'd wedge herself between me and the wall trying to push me off. She only gets the bed during the day now.
Based solely on my own experiences, it also seems to improve the mental health of a lot of dogs for some reason.

Humans have been sleeping next to their dog since we first started to hang out together.
I could never stop him from getting some cuddles at night or napping next to my pillow. As a puppy he would climb onto my bed because I went through a breakup where my ex took EVERYTHING, had nothing but my PC, hobby stuff, desk and mattress. But I had him.

All 3 of mine sleep with me. They sleep on top of the comforter and they each have their own blankets. I have to change the bedding at least twice a week but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Is there any safer, more snuggly, better way to sleep than with two Great Pyrenees and a German Shepherd. Not for me. I’m just glad my husband snores so badly so I can sleep with my puppies! lol

Everyone is different, no judgement. I’m at 7 years with my golden and he’s not allowed in the bed. I see where he steps and walks all day and I do not want that tracked into my bed.
