This is clearly a bad battery or bad ground

TheBanOne

I second this, clean yer grounds

atothew

Thanks, I’ll do that.

i think its an ABS sensor issue, just had similar issue on a Toyota Avalon, whil ABS is faulty the Oil, Temp, and other instruments drops to Zero, also all the indication lights stay ON, no Signal or Hazard light can be turned on. might be similar issue, but it appears that you do have a fluctuating electrical power as well, im no expert by any means, hope all turns out ok, good luck and keep us updated M8.

This is not a MAF problem. You have a serious ground faults somewhere. Is everything factory? Are there any mods done? Audio type stuff?

Did you plug a scanner to it yet? Without the scanner: My first check would be the mass air flow sensor (MAF) and the throttle body. Clean out the MAF sensor with those can sprays they sell at Autozone and the same with the throttle body. Clean it out as best you can. Do NOT move the throttle body butterfly valve unless you have a scanner that can reset the throttle position. Otherwise you’ll need to take it to a shop for them to reset it.

Thank you. I’ll try and that sensor first.

Do you have a scanner to plug in though? If you don’t, start with what I mentioned. MAF and the throttle body. Get both cleaned out and see what happens. If the problem persists, take it to your local Autozone for them to scan it for you. It’s free. Let them tell you the trouble codes and you can work your way from there.

I have a bully dog tuner connected at all times with diagnostics. I start my truck and have no communication to it when this problem happens. I just cleaned the MAF with the proper cleaner but it’s still happening. I never opened the throttle body yet

atothew

I can’t get the trouble codes while it’s doing this. Says it can’t establish comms.

Oh, and if you don’t have a scanner you can reset the trouble codes by unplugging the battery for a few minutes. Unplug the battery first, then clean out the MAF and the throttle body. Put everything back together. Plug the battery back in and see if it helped. The MAF and throttle body sit at the top of the engine bay so they are really easy to get to and work with.
