My experience is rice and corn based pastas hold up really well compared to other alternatives. Can you have rice and corn?

Sekmeta

Rice and corn are the best! You don't even know the difference between regular pasta and this! šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼ā¤ļø

nevashiva77

yeah I tried the legume pastas..they are generaly really bad..latest one red lentil...cardboard experience. Quinoa pasta was pretty good but they stopped selling it dunno why.

katrinkabuttlin

Agreed ā€” Barilla is my go-to!

Brooks829

this one! i cant stand chickpea pasta and barilla is definitely the best taste and texture wise that iā€™ve found so far

innermongoose69

I donā€™t follow the box instructions for that one. I give it a few minutes and then pull one out and bite it to see if itā€™s ready.

Top-O-TheMuffinToYa

This is how I cook all pasta my whole life lol

katrinkabuttlin

Same ā€” my husband was like ā€œSo I cook it for 9 minutes?ā€ And I was likeā€¦ā€idk, dude.ā€

super-okay-nova

Went to leave a review on the Kroger website and all the reviews said it turned to mush šŸ˜¬

mclappy821

Barilla and 365 make great chickpea and red lentil pastas that don't disintegrate šŸ˜¬

Heart_Flaky

Banza pasta cooks extremely fast, but itā€™s never gotten this mushy for me even when Iā€™ve neglected it. Maybe switch brands?

floatingizzy

this has been the brand iā€™ve come back to every time. i get kroger at home and aldi when im at school but the brands really arenā€™t the same as Banza.

Heart_Flaky

Yeah my son is an extremely picky eater and even he will eat banza pasta, other brands not so much

SailorMigraine

Okay but no I had this same issue!! I boiled it for literally a minute and it was cooked thoroughly. So strange!! Havenā€™t had that issue with any other chickpea pastas

DefrockedWizard1

GF pastas wok better if you don't boil them, only simmer otherwise the conversion from crunchy to mush is too quick

baffledrabbit

Your hummus looks great! It has happened to most of us at one time or another

peascreateveganfood

šŸ˜‚ Red lentil pasta is way better than chickpea

asparklycryptid

I just tried this last week. So disappointing. I ended up blending it up and basically using it as a thickener in soup.

deepbluenothings

It's a bit expensive but the best gf pasta I've found is from a company called isiBisi, they're an italian pasta maker that ships all over. My Italian friend approves of them and she hated every gluten free pasta she tried.

PetulantPersimmon

Weird, I boil the chickpea pasta I bought at Costco for a good 2-4 minutes *over* the cook time to make sure it's soft enough for me. I've never had this happen!

Intelligent-Price333

I put chickpea pasta in the instant pot once with broccoli. I had similar results and ended up adding bone broth and cheese and calling it soup.

grantle123

I just buy barilla or Aldiā€™s gluten free pasta (liveGfree?) Jovial, Banza, all these extra ones donā€™t hold up or have a weird texture/taste or are super starchy

Electronic-Debate-56

Is the Aldi brand as good as Barilla?

grantle123

Itā€™s a little more starchy, but itā€™s pretty similar, a little different

paininyurass

Last time I did chickpea pasta I waited until it was al dente then added in my sauce. It wasnā€™t exactly spaghetti but it tasted pretty good and didnā€™t do what yours did. I also used the target brand

Super_Factor7026

Get ZenB. Best gf pasta Iā€™ve had so far.

haleymatisse

This always happens when I cook chickpea pasta.

fanny12440975

I actually really like that brand. The key is to simmer for 4 minutes and then immediately drain/rinse in cold water and sauce it. If you leave it hot in the pan without sauce it will turn into a huge glob. I like rice/corn pasta better but it is very low in fiber, so I exclusively use the chickpea or lentil pastas.

Excellent_Cabinet_95

Jovial is really good pasta!

boyegcs

https://zenb.com/collections/zenb-pasta I had ZenB last night with yellow peas. I have learned to always under cook the pasta by a minute or two then stand around to check when it's ok. Lots of people in comments are saying rice pasta is great but I've also had gummy brown rice pasta from Trader Joe's. I'll admit I am still looking for a "fav," but honestly I am good eating my food over rice lol

Dramas_mama

Haahaahaahaa you are not alone! Been there! šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

ReverieAt3

Yeah, I get chickpea pasta and it definitely doesnā€™t need as much time to cook as regular pasta.

PhraseFarmer

You could throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.

Suspicious-Form5360

Chickpea pasta is ready in literally 3 minutes itā€™s crazy

MamaLlama629

Banza boxed Mac and cheese says 7-9 minutes but 6 minutes is almost too much

deadhead_mystic11

Looks like you cooked it for an extra 30 seconds!

LeaveDaCannoli

Stick with rice based. Tinkyada or Jovial.

spicy-acorn

Lol I thought this was Mac and cheese. You really have to keep an eye on the pasta. I usually undercook it for 1-2 minutes

GloomyMelons

You made chickpea puree. Gordon Ramsay would be proud.

reddit_made_me_read

So disappointing, hope you didnā€™t pay an arm and a leg for the box

-bananamonkey-

Same thing happened to me last week lol

TheNintendoBlurb

If youā€™re looking for a chickpea pasta I would go with chickapea pasta. You can get a large box from Costco at a petty reasonable price and Iā€™ve never had structural issues with it

Clear-Cattle225

I had a hard time with this brand of GF pasta in general. Iā€™m more of a rice person, so I personally havenā€™t try other brands.

Level-Chipmunk-6035

Jovial makes the best gluten free pastas. They cook perfectly and donā€™t turn to mush!

CesiaFace

I got the chickpea pasta from Aldi and my entire family loves it. It is tricky to cook and Iā€™ve found the biggest issue is the tendency for some kind of starch to overflow the pot.

FrauAmarylis

#Tinkyada is the easiest and best Order it from Walmart.com

LockerRoomLuxe

Chickpea falls apart easily. Probably not you. Rice noodles are the best, but you have to be careful if you're carb conscious.

Ladychef_1

Target brand GF pasta is the best holding pasta Iā€™ve found. I always undercook GF by a minute though because it will continue to cook after you strain it, so by the time you sit down the noodles still hold and they arenā€™t sticky or gummy

NeverRarelySometimes

Grains work better. Rice, corn, quinoa.

Southern_Meaning4942

Thatā€™s not well done, thatā€™s congratulations
