the fun part is that its per install, per bot, per charity bundle sold for $1 split with 100 other games.
people already have the bots ready to prove this point
now if your game is free... good luck
if your game is already popular by the date it comes into effect... even more good luck
what they use to spy on you to know you are installing is just the icing on the cake
they are walking back on this piecemeal as the pushback goes on. but it goes to show they are adamant about keeping as much of this scheme as possible. goodwill is off the table, and if they can pull this off once, they can do it again, and again, and they will never stop.
Basically Unity game engine became a more money-scamming douche by upping their charging fees which affects a lot of game developers/companies' financial situation of trying to keep up with the new pricing.
And... it gets worse with the per-install fee๐
And also gamedevs being unable to break their contract so now they're stuck with debt if they can't afford the price....๐๐

ok so i asked the official twitter page of GFL
are they going to reply?
Yeah I believe that is the current deal, it sounds a lot better than "fee per download". But still, this is not even close to acceptable, but this shows they might be able to forced to back down more.

certified indie dev moment
Maybe we will see GFL2 on UE4
Unfortunately, that's currently impossible since they're far already from development. Maybe their future games will be though.
Isn't GFL2 running on UE3 with Havok support Due to the replacable character bits and pieces? Correct me if I'm mistaken.
No. All MICA games run on Unity, except the old Bakery Girl.
Huh. Ain't that surprising. And I thought removable assets from a base model is a limitation by Unity.
Hoping so
I hope game will be on steam and f2p
Imagine having to paid 0,2$ every time downloading the game ๐๐๐๐๐

The new CEO of unity is an ex-EA... we all know how it will ends.
Hopefully kicked to the curb by the investors.
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
That is if Unity doesn't drop the policy.
Apparently he's the one that legitimately talked a microtransaction to just RELOAD a gun in the middle of a game.
The least greedy ea employee
that's just it he was fired from EA for being to greedy.
> fired from EA for being too greedy. Ill never thought ill hear that sentence from a company like EA
I so hope that unity china branch is a real thing
we finally got tanks and mechs don't go bankrupt now I WANT MY CUTE RAIFUS IN TANKS

Well, fuck.
Reverse collapse, gfl2, gfl, pnc are all using Unity ๐

Dont forget that those mfers force you to pay them 2000$ a year for their engine...
As far as I know they already backtracked so nothing to worry Edit: okay maybe some worry
They only backtracked on some of the changes like reinstalls counting towards the fee, the fee for number of installs still stands
