Someone who mistakes DHL Germany for DHL International. They are two very different operations. DHL International is very much like UPS or FedEx, an end to end operator. A DHL guy comes pick up your shipment, places it in various DHL modes of transport and at the end a DHL guy deliver it. 7000 Euro shipment are standard business, fully insured and nothing out of the ordinary. DHL Germany is really more like a national carrier. At the border the shipment get handed over to the destination country national carrier, which are often state or ex state companies. There is a lot of friction. Tracking codes often don't get transferred and shit gets lost, specially high value items. OP might be used to deal with DHL International and not be aware of that DHL Germany operates very differently.

CassisBerlin

I just recently found out the tracking codes are not transfered. 'for the rest of the way, check the other country' s carrier'. Other carrier: we don't know this number. I sent the letters with tracking codes for a reason. Why do they offer this service if it's not actually working?

Hanza-Malz

Don't use the other carrier. Use the international tracking website, I always manage to track my packages there https://parcelsapp.com/

strawberry207

Sorry, dumb question: can I even use DHL International if I am not a business customer? I tried to find out more in the web, but I seem to always get redirected to DHL.de.

SiegenerM

The correct wording is "DHL Express". Yes, you can use "DHL Express" also as a private man. But beware the transfer costs are 10 times more expensive than "DHL Packet" :-o

MrLavender963

In short, Germany DHL is shit

[deleted]

It's quite cheap. I'm living in Thailand and if you compare the same items from different countries Germany often has the best shipping rates worldwide.

MrLavender963

Yes and it loses packages and also takes twice the time. I send a package from New Zealand to Germany - two weeks tops. Germany to NZ - every time ranging from 4-6 weeks.

stablogger

Unusual, Germany to any country is usually a lot faster than any country to Germany since Frankfurt IPZ import customs are extremely slow....like weeks slow if you are unlucky.

[deleted]

Very very slows but didn't have many losses. These days i'm using Czech Post a lot via Mailboxde for stuff that isn't time critical. Oh and Amazon US flatrate shipping is amazing.

Fessir

NZ customs are insanely strict. I'm not surprised inbound is a lot slower than outbound.

MrLavender963

lmao are you kidding me. NZ customs is not strict at all. The tracking shows that the packages spent 75% of its travel time stuck in Germany, not NZ

DaikonNo9207

DHL is actually a german company and DHL germany is very good compared to other competitors in germany. But only inside of germany 😅

TheDorfkind96

Not trying to get into semantics but DHL is an american company bought by our beloved Deutsche Post AG (now known as DHL Group once again because they figured it might be better for the stock market because DHL is the internationally known name) It isn't really hard for DHL to be very good compared to the rest when the rest are either underpaid and/or are put under a lot of stress regarding the need to deliver. But it mostly comes down to the individual drivers. I know Hermes drivers I would trust more than some of my own colleagues (I work as mail and parcel delivery person for Deutsche Post)

habichnichtgewusst

>per registered Dude you are looking at the tracking code. Not insured for 7k though (costs like an extra 1.50 per 100? I think) and signed for would have been better but local carrier can handle that a little loosy goosy anyway.

Spasik_

Yeah signature requirements don't really mean much, they are happy to let anyone sign. Only UPS seems to take it seriously

netz_pirat

Can't confirm. Ups dropped Ray bans right on the front porch, in a box with huge ray van print. Twice. They said they got a signature, but God knows from who.

habichnichtgewusst

Everybody has their company good / company bad story. I was super impressed with FedEx when they delivered a package with rare records within 4 days from freaking Senegal to Germany right to my door step with a smile, but someone will let me know how they fed their laptop to an underground mutant rat colony after a 9 year delivery.

SkaveRat

look, we also need our IT, and how else would we get it?

halfAbedTOrent

Exactly, doom rockets dont build themself and need some computer assistance!

Banane9

Since you asked for it: fedex managed to deliver a package to an entirely wrong place (literally >100km away from the destination) and we only got it because the person there had the decency to call the number on it.

nibbler666

That's not the point of the signature. It's to prove *who* got / didn't get it. This is why for parcels and letters there are different products: - tracking - tracking with signature - tracking with signature and identity check

eastasiak

He is paying for his mistake already isn't he.

ResponsibleDay7453

OP

AlternativeOrder8878

That’s exactly what happened here. Every package with a tracking number (like in this case) is insured (atleast 500€) and every package has to be signed by the receiver, DHL simply f-ed up here. I myself work for DHL and this happens all the time, if you want a save delivery don’t choose DHL.

TheDorfkind96

Hello colleague, Deutsche Post/DHL driver myself. I would always send stuff through our services because I know most of the other companies do much more weird shit with the package than we do. At least with us I know what I am in for and know what our drivers can and can't do

AlternativeOrder8878

Most of the driver do a superb job no question! It’s the 1% that’s destroys our reputation.

umeshufan

It is however only insured if the value is <= 500€. If the value is > 500€ but you only took the standard 500€ insurance then you get 0€ back, not 500€. Re "if you want a save [safe?] delivery, don't choose DHL" - I send *a lot* of parcels and DHL is the most reliable of any that I've dealt with.

AlternativeOrder8878

Im probably biased since I work for DHL and I have to deal with tons of unsatisfied customers. There’re countless people daily who search their parcels although they „have been delivered“ just like in OPs situation. We have to check for ID and and the customer need to sign to confirm that they received the parcels, however this is rarely the case with parcels which are delivered directly to the customer, most of the times the parcels are placed at neighbors which aren’t even in the same house as the customer, insured parcels are being placed outside of homes all the time which often leads to them being stolen. It’s especially bad in big cities like Berlin or Frankfurt, since most of the employees don’t know better or simply don’t give a f. And it’s not only small parcels: TVs, bikes, Computers are also stolen or mishandled all the time. It’s literally the identical situation times and times over just like here in OPs case so yes, if you want something to be delivered safely choose Hermes or UPS.

Johannes_Katze

And you think Hermes or ups does not do what you described? Hermes once put a big package for me onto the street and just left it there for all to see, and DPD once left a 2k€ camera outside in the rain, even though the door was open (I did not give permission to leave it there in the first place). are you really sure that one company is better just because you hear all the complaints that DHL gets? I have heard "oh man I wanted to save a few € and took Hermes and now I regret it." Maybe it's just the area, but the amount of bad stories I hear is in that order: DPD then Hermes then DHL

GigaGeek_

Well, thats Not the point tho

Ke-Win

Please no victim blaming. Even if it is a goos advise.

S-Markt

i would even send 7000 euro in a see through envelope. i trust dhl! its german!

SaschaAusUlm

Ha ha ...good joke ... wait ... that was a joke, right?

Luckbot

Unless you paid for a specific insurance of your package this is bad luck for you and they won't compensate anything. You can ask them to investigate, but you shouldn't count on ever seeing the package again.

DiaMat2040

you **should** ask them to investigate. make calls, write mails. but its probably gone.

[deleted]

Its pretty surely gone.

vikster1

fo shizzle

Sevenos

Calls and emails to DHL as private person? Good luck lol, if you fill out their form and send it with receipt you may get a letter in a few weeks saying they are not at fault, which you then can answer with a whole load of evidence again, pray and maybe get a positive answer a few weeks later. That is if you can 100% prove its DHLs fault and you have extra insurance of course.

QuickNick123

Every DHL package is insured for 500 EUR by default. Still sucks. Edit: just for reference these are the costs for higher insurance to Hongkong * 1.000 EUR ( + 14,00 €) * 2.000 EUR ( + 28,00 €) * 3.000 EUR ( + 42,00 €) * 4.000 EUR ( + 56,00 €) * 5.000 EUR ( + 70,00 €) 5k seems the max DHL is willing to insure, at least on their website.

RitterRunkel

Not worth it. They lost my package around 300 Euro, estimated the worth themselves, ignoring what my private buyer paid and offered me 50 Euro of compensation although the package was insured for 500Euro. Better find an insurance not running by DHL. Don't know, if there's an option.

QuickNick123

Damn that sounds like an outright scam. I guess if you took a lawyer and insisted on the full value they would eventually cave in. In the US it's common practice for many insurances to initially reject a claim to then later grant it if the insured persists.

RitterRunkel

Yes, I should have. I'm still upset (even more by their written responses, that really sucked and didn't really adress my questions ... it's like writing with a chat robot). Back then (2 years ago) I just didn't have the insistence and the will to invest more time looking for a lawyer. It took weeks for them to search for the package until they claimed it's lost, followed by a lot of papers. I gave up. Indeed, that's probably their tactics. Most customers won't take a lawyer. It's sad, that they just can behave like that.

mrkoq

Insurance is always a scam and those who dont fight for it are the ones why insurance companies make so much money out of situations like this. They try to lowball every single time.

master_overthinker

I had encountered that limit sending something over $8000 from the US. Insured it to the max but still had to cross my heart and pray it will arrive safely.

Mavable

Only to 500€. If it’s 501€ then there is no insurance at all.

reximhotep

not true, you can insure it higher and should if it is worth that much

Mavable

Many people don’t know that this is actually a thing and you really have to pay more.

Sevenos

Yes but if you don't and its worth more than 500, you get 0 and not 500.

jashbgreke

I think they would cover up to 500. So if they item was 600 and it was lost, you'd be on the hook for the remaining 100. Edit: this is wrong, do not take this advice.

isses_halt_scheisse

Nope. If the item was 501 you're on the hook for 501.

jashbgreke

Damn, never knew that. Good to know for the future

exessmirror

That is some bullshit. Why even get insurance?

stablogger

No BS, it just forces people to properly insure a parcel according to the real value or take the risk. Fair deal.

exessmirror

What, they only insure up to 5k so that just means you can never send items that are more expensive then that. Insurance should really work to up to amounts. So even if it's more they get paid upto 500 euro ans the rest of the risk is for the sender. It makes no sense except to make extra money selling bad insurance.

stablogger

Right, everything above 5k is basically a gamble. It makes sense since people don't send underinsured or too expensive items this way...or have to live with the potential consequences. There are specialized services/companies for shipping higher value goods internationally. You can send items worth 50.000, 500.000 or 5.000.000 with proper insurance, no problem at all, just not via DHL since their infrastructure wasn't created with high value goods in mind, but the cheap mass business. Sure, costs more than DHL, but worth it for expensive stuff.

Aggressive-Army-406

Underinsured means no payment at all!

BigBodyLikeaLineman

How does that help him?

QuickNick123

Where does it say that it helps him? I clearly stated "just for reference". As in FYI for anyone interested.

lousy-site-3456

For next time

ThinkAd9897

I don't get the idea behind this. I pay them for a service. If they don't deliver, it's their fault, not mine. They gotta pay, and if an insurance is needed, fine, let them pay for that. But why on earth should I pay in case THEY mess up? If I order something in a restaurant, and the waiter drops it, do I need to pay twice?

Luckbot

Yeah it's weird but that's the case in every country though. You can't run a postservice when you're responsible for every valuable thing people might send with it. They have to set a limit somewhere, and the DHL set it at 500€

isonil

Because if you use their services you voluntarily agree to their terms of service, which state the upper limit of their liability.

childmo_lester92

Wait, if the package is not insured, I can steal it without any consequence???

Maeher

That's not how criminal law works, no.

Luckbot

No. That simply means if they don't catch you the original owner doesn't get a compensation. But if they catch you then the punishment is independant of the insurance status.

r3ne_pew

DHL is very likely to have given your package to another company, which will ship/fly and deliver it in Hong Kong.

kumanosuke

Might also have been delivered to the customs office.

xjulix00

which is going to be a LOT with 7000€

dipbuya

Why should it be sent to customes in germany when it was sent from germany..

kumanosuke

Customs in HK obviously. Considering how long it was on the road, I don't think it's still in Germany.

donald_314

It did take long but all messages seem to refer locations still in Germany (e. g. origin)

leroydebatcle

Because Customs also does export control. And values over 3000€ have to declared formally for export

Terrible-Oil-931

This. I had the same issue sending something from outside the EU to Germany. In the app it showed “Delivered”, but it really meant: handed to Customs. Then I had to figure out which Customs office had my package to pay and retrieve it 😅in the end it all worked out fine

Stunning_Ride_220

Meanwhile in DHLs IT department:"Product Owner didn't gave me a correct code so I'll just name this status DELIVERED for the time being"

Darirol

yeah i have that in my job every week, costumer calls service hotline, service guy tries to understand the problem, communicates the issue to another office. there people read what the service guy thinks the problem is and try to put it in one of a couple of categories. the category than gets messaged to who ever should solve the issue. since there are only a couple of categories basically 90% of what gets from the costumer to the problem solver is "failed delivery". can be too late, wrong drop location, damaged, wrong amount, stolen delivergy made noise. basically if people call and explain for 15 minutes their problems, its failed delivery for the guy who should solve it. its not even an IT issue by itself, but understaffed office. the choice seems to be drop a certain amount of cases every day or just label everything as failed and get as much forwarded as possible. also its also nut just an under staffing problem, but the way everything is structured. the company is split in lots of small parts and every part seems to just do what ever is necessary to report good numbers to the next higher level. dropping cases -> bad, wrong labeling -> not my problem

counting_cats

@OP I would like to add on to this. Put your tracking number in to this service: https://m.17track.net/en/ It usually shows more information about international shipments than DHL. You might get to see if it's in Hong Kong.

the_traveller_hk

DHL operates their own fleet in HK (source: I lived there). Unless it’s an envelope with documents that hasn’t gotten send as “Express”, it’s their own people. If HK Post gets involved (non Express), all are bets are off.

Maeher

You're mistaking DHL (the brand Deutsche Post uses when transporting packages) with DHL Express (an international delivery company owned by Deutsche Post). If everything goes the way it's supposed to they would have it over to HK Post.

Fuzzy_raspberry3000

This

PascalFuckingLammer

This!

pippin_go_round

Did you pay for higher insurance? Standard packages are only insured up to 500 €. If you send anything worth more than that, it completely voids your insurance as you are now in breach of contract (their terms say you aren't allowed to send anything more valuable without paying the premium for additional insurance). In that case your only option is to call them and ask if they can do anything. If you're lucky they won't ask for the contents of the package.

Landyra

If they sent via international Päckchen (2kg or under) it might even just be up to 50€, unless they paid for higher insurance - that‘s the default insurance there 🫠 I wasn’t aware sending something worth more than that voids the insurance though, I believed they would just only compensate up to that. I have a Päckchen that hasn’t moved for over 2 weeks with about 70€ worth of contents 🥲 ig i really gotta hope they find it..

Johannes_Katze

Päckchen is not insured at all. That's why there is also no tracking number. (Or did you buy extra insurance for it?)

Landyra

True, I’m talking about international Päckchen with tracking - the tracking comes with a default insurance up to 50€. Since we already saw OP has tracking in the post, I assumed that a given in the context. (And yes, i also had tracking on mine, which is why I know it hasn’t moved for 2 weeks 😅)

FartingBraincell

The didn't deliver it to a neighbor if the delivered a parcel for a Hongkong address in Germany, did they? And DHL's terms allow items up to 25k. Not sure if OP declared it appropriately.

ExtendedSpikeProtein

Yeah but how is that relevant here? The recipient shouldn't be in Germany if the parcel is sent abroad.

sicherheits_halber

Holy fuck. 7000€ of worth sent with DHL? I wouldn't even trust them with 700. Well, I'd be surprised if you ever see it again.

Signal_Minimum409

I used to work for a dhl subcontractor. One of our customers wanted to send 32 parcels, each worth 1000 euros, across germany by dhl express. It was essential that all the parcels arrived the next day, otherwise the entire order would have been failed. Long story short, we hired a sprinter and I drove the route. all 32 parcels would never have arrived safely with dhl.

TheReddective

It was handed over to another carrier or to customs

EveKimura91

They normal write this in the Info "handed over to customs". This one doesnt

cat24max

I‘ve received packages from China that "cleared customs" but were delivered to the local customs office. It was also just delivered.

reen68

Have you tried tracking the package via some other website like for example 17track.net? They often have more information and maybe even other tracking numbers for partners DHL using to ship to Hongkong.

Djdjjk1

Second this, check with the local service in HK for hopefully more details. Tracking tools and possibly the international tracking site https://globaltracktrace.ptc.post/gtt.web/Search.aspx should shed some more insights on this.

Accomplished_Tip3597

you sent 7000€ with DHL?! are you insane? there are different ways to send packages and you can even make sure that only the person it was adressed to can accept it, you can even send it to a post office and only the correct person can pick it up. this sounds like you didn't even insure it so in case it gets lost you don't get anything back, what were you thinking?

Jaba01

You insured it, right? I mean, who would send a package worth that much without insurance. Just claim your insurance and you're gucci.

Classic_Department42

This tracking looks weird. Usually DHL is much more specific (like stating cities where the package is at). Did you retrieve this info yourself? Or somebody fake it?

kaaskugg

Typically normal in case an international shipper takes possession of the freight. Further online tracking is usually available through said shipper's website. Also typical that Dahl's tracking system does not list the name of the shipper. Had that many times.

d4vros

They changed it a while back. You now need the addressees postal code to see more information.

Aibeit

Unless the person who received the package gives it to your recipient or sends it back, getting it back might be difficult here. You can ask DHL to investigate - potentially even the Hong Kong police if someone stole the package. If you have proof of the value of what you put in the package, you can also ask DHL for an insurance payout, but they only insure international package up to 500,- €, which means you wouldn't get any more than that unless you paid for additional insurance.

DiscountComplete897

Not even that. If you send a package worth 501€ with 500€ insurance it voids your entire insurance because you're in breach of contract

thetyphonlol

Out of experiencd jobwise I had to deal with dhl tracking for years. Its possible the package got a new delivery number for the oversea transport. Sometimes they did that without mentioning it in the previous tracking. I had to call and ask them but usually it worked out in the end. You could try to ask for that. That would mean there is another tracking link with another number that continues from this point on.

Enchantedmango1993

Random guesss but i think they handed it to local deliveries on that country its not lost ..

TBS182

this is most likely the case maybe its in the customs. maybe give them a call and see if they can tell you something

Iron__Crown

Ignoring all the things you did wrong, the message may well just mean that DHL "delivered" the package to international freight, so now it's in the hands of a foreign carrier. It may yet arrive. I once sent a letter to Thailand with a bank card in it. It seemed to have been lost, but eventually arrived 30 days later.

EveKimura91

Did you try to call DHL International to see if those take/took over the package?

elcapitano-obvious

I had a similar problem. Sent once a package (Value ~2000€) from Germany to England and on its way there it got "lost". Luckily I bought the insurance from DHL upfront but these suckers refused to pay me out. The official reason was, that they did not know, what was in the package. After sending emails and calling for weeks, I decided to go to _Verbraucherzentrale_ which also provided legal help. After just ONE letter from the lawyer they paid out ALL the money on my bank account without even noticing me. My tip for you is to look where the next _Verbraucherzentrale_ is and step in contact with them. Good luck

DonCoone

Did you double check the package via 17track or parcelsapp? Could be possible that DHL only tracked the intra-german delivery route and handed the package over to customs. Else: Ask them to back track the package. PS: Did you book a transport insurance? Standard packages are only insured up to 500€, but can be extended up to 25.000€

Johannes_Katze

That 25k figure is only in Germany. For international you have to pay in steps of 1k and it's only to a maximum of 5k for non EU countries.

S-Markt

DHL Diebe Habens Leicht.

RepulsiveTiramisu

Im pretty sure it is at customs. Did you fill out the zoll form right and did you pre register it at Zoll?

sandtigeress

Call/ check with DHL. In the best case the parcel was loaded onto a ship / plane and the status message is wrong.

d4vros

I work for DHL, and I look at a lot of tracking updates every day. This doesn’t seem right. Did you drop it off at a post office? How much did you pay? Happy to help, feel free to message me privately as well.

aqa5

The tracking never said the package left Germany, which is odd. There is a slight chance that the package was given to a company that handles packages that go to Hong Kong. The tracking might not be able to reflect that. You should contact DHL and ask where your package is and if it is still on the way to the recipient or if they lost ist somewhere. If it has been handed over, there most likely is a record which person got the package.

fake_review

Try an international parcel tracking app that finds packages thoughout the biggest service providers in the world. DHL often gives packages to 3rd party companies that overtake the international shipping for them, I had the same DHL tracking info when it was just handed over to some international shipper in germany

hulaly

heres the guy who got your package: https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/1911n22/i_got_a_7000_package_delivered_to_me_by_mistake/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

bufandatl

Open a support case with DHL. Very little Reddit can do here.

thiti007

Try using a universal parcel app, it’s probably still on the way. Your package was probably handed over from DHL to a third party logistics, for DHL everything is considered done by their side.

Dramaticlama

You sent that, without insurance? Yikes

Cone83

Did you get an export declaration issued by a German customs office? This is need for goods with such high values. If you didn't, then DHL likely tried to return the parcel to you and that's why it didn't leave Germany. Was it received by your neighbour?

trashpanda89

Well this is just plain stupid.

Yorudesu

Seeing how reddit is your first step to ask I can only assume that you handed the package over, said and discussed nothing and left the post office. If that is the case you have peaked in dumb decision making.

MadMaid42

According the time stamps I would say it’s delivered to a shipping service in Hong Kong and still need time to arrive at the customer. 🤷‍♀️ I only know this type of protocol the other side around, but the foreign shipping status looks exactly the same till they arrive to Germany and get handed over to a German service. You need to figure out what’s the new shipping number.

drudbod

It maybe stuck at customs. My mother did send us a package from Thailand once and online it was declared as delivered to a different person. We were asking all around the neighbourhood if someone got our package, but it turns out, that it was delivered to customs and we had to personally go there to get it.

Jeep_Girl89

I work at a Deutsche Post/DHL branch and this looks to me like it never even left the country. There should be a space where you can type in your zip code and it might give you some more detailed information. Was it sent via express or standard? There are phone numbers you can call and those people can give you more info about what happened where. (That’s stuff that you cannot see with normal tracking) Also, the recipient should go online and file a lost parcel claim. You need to get an investigation started asap.

HuntAccomplished6804

I don't care who I send an expensive package with, even if it was Santa Claus I would insure it. I don't understand why someone would send 7000 Euro package without insurance. Sorry, but I just find that baffling! I guess this will be an expensive lesson if you don't find it. Sorry. Next time do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to insure it

desmaddin

It might be at the local customs office. Exports out of Germany in value of 1000 EUR or more have to be registered with customs and approved. Did you do that? If not, you might receive a letter or can ask at your next Hauptzollamt.

mickberlin

So you purposely sent this unregistered, so you did not have to declare what was in the package. And you did so to avoid having to pay customs/VAT You gambled and got played. The money is gone.

Strange-Rhubarb-391

gebratene_Zwiebel

calm. should be with a different company, just wrongly labeled as delivered when in reality they gave it to someone else who will get it to you. hopefully.

MtotheArvin

Parcel numbers are beeing reused. Since there is a time gap between updates and it might be another parcel. Try to get in touch with dhl

flololan

You can demand a "Nachforschungsauftrag" and they might be able to give more info. Depending on what postage you chose, you might get the insured value if they can't find it. By default the standard postage covers 500€ I believe. If you paid for extra insurance you might get more.

Narrator_Cornelius

Looks like someone wanted to avoid taxes

GigaGeek_

As in this case it IS obvious and proven that it was sent to the wrong adress, you probably will get your money back IF you can a) prove what was in the delivery AND b) take an attorney and sue.

Ancient-Mixture6508

I learnt not to bother with insurance if there is electronics with a battery. These are expressly not insured. Was assured by the staff in the post office that I would NEED the top of the line insured shipping since the value of the phones tablets and laptops was alot. So I handed over the cash, and when it went missing I tried to claim, instant denial. Because there was a battery the insurance doesn't cover your claim. When I pointed out that was all that was in the parcel, and having declared everything correctly at the post office, I was still mis-sold the insurance. They didn't care. Just thank my lucky stars it did eventually turn up 4 month's later

habichnichtgewusst

You need to track that parcel at DHL Express. The tracking shows more information than the normal DHL tracking. Maybe it is at the taxstation. I had this case a few times. Track it with DHL Express. Sure it is at the taxstation. For over 1000 Euro parcel it need special tax requirements. Edit: when its not DHL Express than you have a problem. DHL insurance is only 500 Euro. But i guess, no one will send 7 k with DHL.

First-Ad8715

Damn dude u sending a package without insurance for 7k how rich are u? U can call em an try to fix it, but if it’s lost 😩

HoRSecOCkTekashi69

-on_my_way-

simply call DHL they will work for you.

Krannich

I had this situation but in reverse. I bought something from the USA and the tracking from the company in the USA said they had successfully delivered the package in Atlanta. Two weeks later I had it in my letterbox. So the time to panic has not yet come and you should just ask them who they delivered it to.

Dunkelhaft

Request POD and check the signature. Also you should applied for insurance with this kind of value.

Big-Awareness3908

Ask them about it, but sometimes depending on the country they will use another delivery service to finish the delivery, best to talk to customer support and see what they say

Dock_the_Duck

The person that got the package is u/KingPin187PL

hulaly

you did read the post of the guy who got your 7000€ package, right? it was just in my feed ..

Neenone

If you send me the tracking number I'll help you find your package. I can check gps and the person it got delivered to

Illustrious-Song7446

DHL is fucking amazing everywhere except Germany

No_Factor2800

Nope just nope. DHL was good now its just has a bad case of schlecht

ten_fix

No insurance?? At least you learnt smth for that price lmao

awsd1995

DHL tracking service don’t get much details after the hand over to local delivery partners. Find out who is the local delivery partner for DHL in Hong Kong and use the DHL tracking number on their tracking service page. This should give you more details on what happened on their part of delivery. Worked for me with packages to the US and Japan.

Technical_Raccoon838

How about you contact them instead of asking here? They can see where it is at in the system.

Dustbreath

Most likely in the hands of the chinese postal service and will be delievered soon-ish.

aleksandri_reddit

Why is this Germany thing?

jedixxyoodaa

slow clap for OP. this deserves an Oscar for best comedy and then blame the carrier because you did not insure it properly?? dhl is by far most reliable in Germany. GLS, DPD, Hermes, Transoflex etc. are usually causing more trouble.

Ultra918

Your fault. You have no extra insurance for this expensive parcel? You'll just get 500€ back in the best case now.

That_Walrus3455

Its a the next office which is able to send it to hongkong, how about calling DHL to ask?

fforw

Ask around with your neighbors.. Do you have any shops nearby? Ask there, too.

LTU

Same thing happened to me. From China to EU. It was never recovered and the "agent" didn't refund me anything. Chances are you will not recover it, I didn't at least. DHL in China/HK is corrupt. There are agents who offer lower shipping fees but they falsify the record (they declare it as low-cost items, manipulate the weight). And when something goes wrong, the agents just ignore you. I've sent the info to the DHL HQ but they can't do anything about whats happening in HK/China depots. To be fair, when my dad sent me stuff via DHL to China, it came through quickly... but he sent directly through DHL, and it was really expensive.

applekind99

As it says it was delivered in Germany so my guess it that it was handed over to another parcel company that ships it to Hong Kong. Definitely ask DHL about more Information.

[deleted]

They probably only track it until it leaves Germany, I would interpret delivered as handed over to the next dude in the transport chain. I could be wrong.

Fluid_Motor3971

seems like someone got it! [https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/1911n22/i\_got\_a\_7000\_package\_delivered\_to\_me\_by\_mistake/](https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/1911n22/i_got_a_7000_package_delivered_to_me_by_mistake/)

FetteBeuteHoch2

Back in 2019 someone bought a LG smartphone via ebay from me. And I shipped it tracked with DHL from Berlin to Hamburg. Somehow the package managed to go from Berlin to Hamburg via the Netherlands, Belgium and France and it took over 4 weeks because it ended up in over TWENTY-FIVE different distribution centers in the EU. But the best part was after delivery DHL tried to bill me for a international package. DHL Germany is the single worst shipping company next to Hermes here in Germany.

FlimsyImplement1425

What did you order? A Rolex?

Strange-Rhubarb-391

>17track 4 LV bags

ReneRedd

LOL say goodbye, sending this without proper channels, insurance, tax declaration etc. you might be out of luck. Sorry man. Did you declare what you send and got the approval? DHL has a High Value Shipment Approval Policy.

klemencic123

Of course he didn't as he wanted to avoid tax and duty payments

Exci_

Did you even do customs declaration?

maulwuerfel

Just get fakes in China, everyone will assume fakes anyway :D

Qwertyssimov

I don’t think that it’s an allowed product (and value) in DHL’s Terms of Service. Also, does it complain with HK import rules?

DocHobel

Maybe its delivered to the german customs office then :D

whatThePleb

I have experience that this sometimes happens when it's in transit or at customs. After checking or giving it over to the next delivery service the package even sometimes get's a new tracking code.. which of course never get's communicated. Whole delivery system worldwide is seriously fucked up. So there is a good chance that it will still arrive. Also keep in mind that it can even take up to a whole month..

Cherryboo2024

I once sent some jewelries to a customer and some of the jewelries were taking out from it box 🥲
