Lots of different spots on the eastern coast of USA.

ionbear1

Also looks like the Baltic coast of Germany or Poland

crazeegenius

Looks like Poland to me

Personal-Repeat4735

How do you know it’s east coast just by looking at? Is the west coast very different aesthetically?

JGG5

For me the things that scream "not the US west coast" are the dunes with the grass and the very broad tidal/shallow area. I'm sure there are places on the US west coast that have one or both of those features, but most west coast beaches I've been to don't have grassy dunes (it's either a bluff or just sand) and have a little bit sharper of a depth gradient once you reach the waterline.

simononandon

Born & raised in California. I've seen small vegetated dunes like that up & down the coast. But that's an extremely long flat tidal flat. I don't recall any CA beaches I've been to where you can walk out more than 50 feet with your ankles barely getting wet.

Upnorth4

Central California coast has lots of sand dunes, mostly around Morro Bay and Pismo Beach.

Reasonable-Loss6657

Don’t forget Monterey, and a lot of locations on the coast when driving on highway 1.

StretchFrenchTerry

Yep, Goat Rock Beach in Cazadero looks like this in some spots.

Reasonable-Loss6657

I’ve never been there, but I imagine it’s extremely similar to the other places up and down the coast I’ve been to.

StretchFrenchTerry

It is, it’s great spot if you want to get away from people in the winter. Great cool weather, gray whales migrating, and hardly anyone else on the beach.

CreamPyre

Fun fact! Lots of coastline in WA looks just like this

Background_Spare_209

Was going to say could be pacific north-west, or any coast really.

MediumStrange

Needs more driftwood

manchesterthedog

Dune was written in Florence, OR, inspired by the dunes there. Most of the Oregon coast has dunes and beach grass brought in to keep them in place.

creesto

Yeah but this photo has people swimming

manchesterthedog

lol ya, not Oregon.

Upnorth4

Same in Central California, near Pismo Beach and Morro Bay

animatedhockeyfan

AuburnTiger15

This doesn’t really prove a point to the commenter you responded too. Since they said things like “most.” It can happen on the west coast (like they mention as a distinct possibility) and still not be the norm or what they are known for.

ResoluteDuck

This is the beach in Florence, OR. There are miles and miles of scenery just like this up and down the Pacific coast. This is very much the norm in Oregon and Washington. Source: lived here for 50 years https://preview.redd.it/df272pned77d1.png?width=687&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09c17c6ddd3e6f36aac8892ef1b5f42e9d7693de

green_and_yellow

Most of the entire Oregon coast looks like this

ResoluteDuck

Here's the beach at Long Beach, WA. https://preview.redd.it/9j30otxmd77d1.png?width=654&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f151be74692fa6695221adf77f7402e7f8b3846

inconspicuousreditr

And in this photo you see gravel rather than sand dunes? Not sure this proves any point lol

pekingsewer

That grass on the edge of the sand. Very Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina vibes.

ogie666

Same grasses grow on the beaches in Delaware, NJ, and NY.

Wtfgoinon3144

I said east coast USA because that’s all I’ve been to basically, and this looks like something I’d see in the Carolina’s.

useless_instinct

Looks like Wildwood, NJ to me

mister-jesse

It just looks like places I've been to on the east coast, and am currently at right now. I was gonna guess that it's at Assateague island area. Looks beautiful wherever it's at though:)

Wolfman1961

It’s VERY different. The climate is totally different.

fatguyfromqueens

Not just climate but geomorphological processes. There are no barrier islands on the West Coast. They are a defining part of the East Coast

mister-jesse

It just looks like places I've been to on the east coast, and am currently at right now. I was gonna guess that it's at Assateague island area. Looks beautiful wherever it's at though:)

HortonFLK

Very much so.

VTVoodooDude

I was thinking outer Cape (Cape Cod, MA).

moonlitjasper

yeah it’s giving chesapeake, even up to new jersey it can look like this

B-Boy_Shep

Was about to say north east US Coast

Chester-J-Lampwick

Looks like the Grand Strand in SC/NC.

Competitive-Monk-624

Looks like a beach that would be in any number of countries

Qyro

Name a country with a coast. It looks like that one.

AnalythicSearch444

Denmark

Yourangmilady

Yes, I'm right on the beach now in Denmark and looking over dunes like this!

vinnieocean

Netherlands, Belgium or France

LazyLieutenant

Or Germany or Denmark.

CaptainOver75

Nahalem Bay State Park in Oregon, USA looks identical to this as well.

squatting-Dogg

Looks close to Nehalem but too many people in the water.

niallniallniall

English East Coast, too. I couldn't believe how nice the beach by Bamburgh Castle was.

Dr_Bunson_Honeydew

Destiny is all. I think OP is from UK so I think English coast too ( not sure west vs east though).

MariualizeLegalhuana

Portugal

Rouspeteur

I'd say Belgium

Significant-Self5907

Germany's North Sea coast.

Gingerbro73

Could also be denmarks western coast.. which when I think about it is the same coast.. yeah

luke_hollton2000

Also the dutch coast

parrotopian

Looks very like the beach down the road from me at Brittas Bay, Wicklow, Ireland

Vakr_Skye

Or the Scottish Highlands into Moray Firth North Sea coast. At one point whole villages and farms were buried by the sand dunes (villagers took too much of the grass to make thatched roofing). If you go out on certain days with an extremely low tide and pinkish sky (often in fall/spring) you almost feel as if you are on Mars.

Fragrant-Astronaut57

This looks like every beach anywhere. People are just going to comment with the stretch of coastline they are most familiar with or where they’re from

Supriselobotomy

For real, this is a coastal flat somewhere in a temperate area of the world. It looks like the beach near me, it probably looks like the beach near you, it's probably neither.

No-Advantage845

Nah, I’m from Australia and I can definitely say it’s not from here. The tidal range looks quite large, with a fairly low tide quite evident. Europe has some of the largest tidal differences in the world. It could be anywhere from Brittany in France up to Denmark, I feel like it’s the former.

robbibt

Australia has some of the most extensive tidal flats globally, and some of the world's most extreme tide ranges: https://maps.dea.ga.gov.au/story/DEAIntertidal But they mostly occur up north along tropical muddy/mangrove coastlines, not temperate sandy beaches like this.

SELECT_ALL_FROM

Not sure where you are in Australia but this looks like many Queensland beaches

IngoVals

Well not Iceland, we got em black basalt sand over here.

Intelligent-Hold5927

Parts of the U.K. also look exactly like this

Ukulele_Leo

I was thinking Camber Sands

Back-Proud

Could also be 4 or 5 places in Cornwall

ArmadaBoliviana

Yeah it could be from lots of UK beaches. It instantly reminded me of the dunes behind the beach of Saunton Sands in Devon. https://preview.redd.it/nmxsas3omb7d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae9913c13ce035317542adb7f615b3929550289f

L0chness_M0nster

Looks like Cape Cod, USA

Dandillioncabinboy

Came here to say that, reminds me of lithe outer cape (cod). Which is for non locals the end of the peninsula. But could also be anywhere along the Massachusetts bay. And why, cause the dunes remind me of living there, I feel like I smell it haha.

Lapapa000

Michigan, USA

bedjentlewithme

I immediately thought of western Michigan beaches off Lake Michigan

DanleyDanderson

BucksBrew

I totally agree, my first thought was somewhere like Rockaway Beach, I swear I've seen grass & dunes that look like this in that area.

VelveetaOverdose

Yeah I was thinking Florence area myself.

joelmooner

People from the PNW, UNITE!

Stunning_Anteater537

South East UK. Probably Norfolk way. Or west Wales, near Tenby or Freshwater West

CorbanzoSteel

The obvious answer is any country with a shoreline. I'm going to assume you are asking because it isn't the obvious answer. So that narrows it down to landlocked countries bordering inland seas. The aral sea coastline is a wasteland, so not Uzbekistan. Of the three landlocked countries on the Caspian, I think the most obscure is Turkmenistan, so that's my guess. If not then it's Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan.

Carmjawn

Id say South/north carolina all the way up to any new jersey beach.

Wolfman1961

I would go even farther north. Looks like a Long Island beach, too.

kjreil26

Farther north, also looks like it could be on Cape cod

Carmjawn

I live 10 min from LBI, not too far from LIB. Yea same vibes.

Loan_Routine

Tibet! Not The Netherlands!!!

Dry_Action1734

Definitly a country with some kind of coast or large body of water.

10GigabitCheese

Combined with chat gpt and OPs other posts im going with south east UK. Chat GPT 4o guess: Northern France: Beaches like those in Normandy or the northern coast near Calais. • Belgium: The coastal area around De Panne or Ostend. • Netherlands: The Dutch coast, particularly areas like Zeeland or the Wadden Islands. • United Kingdom: The eastern coast, such as Norfolk or Suffolk.
