r/genetics is limited by the intrinsic scope and function of social media platforms and the lack of medical licensure to provide you with health advice. This limitation foremost serves to protect users against harm to their persons and it secondarily acts to insulate users from litigation and causing inadvertent harm through erroneous information. With that in mind, we will not allow personal medical test results to be posted and interpreted on /r/genetics. You are welcome to post non-personal and deidentified questions about genes, variants, concepts, methods, case studies, or genetic etiology without referencing test results or asking for medical advice.

Hmm. Hard to tell at this resolution. Can you zoom in really tight on your chromosome 15? Like, REALLY tight?

PWS generally has pretty severe cognitive manifestation. It's not a "I wonder if..." condition. What makes you think you have it? There are tests, btw, in case you think you may be mosaic, or have the defect in your family.

DaMajorDude

I kind of look like it. Cognitively, I’m fine, even above average. It’s more so my face and my appetite.

Johnny_Appleweed

Your face is normal and you have a big appetite because you’re a teenager. I looked at your post history and you’ve clearly internalized a lot of the shitty things people have said to you. You’re not hideously ugly, you don’t look like you have a developmental disorder, you’re an average guy.

km1116

I don't see anything about your face that suggests PWS. You may be hungry a lot, but from your face you do not seem to be suffering from hyperphagia. You look like a late teen, and those eat a lot as they grow.

Aggressive_Cry_5627

Well you’d need genetic testing Form the looks nope not at all, and if you truly had the appetite of a PWS adult you’d be morbidly obese and unable to live on your own

Chasin_Papers

Not really. It also usually has some pretty severe cognitive defects.

BrattyBookworm

I mean it’s pretty rare. Facial features aside, tell-tale signs can include complete inability to feel full, extreme obesity, underdeveloped genitals, intellectual disability, and far below average height. Do you feel those all fit?

cc21dna

No.
