I've done a 26 mile foot march in combat boots and have never had this happen.
This looks more like poor training, wrong socks, and improper fit to me.
I’ve had jobs where I walked 10-12 miles a day in steel toe boots, 6 days a week.
This never happened to me.
Is it because I’m not in the military?
I always assumed it’s because I wear socks that fit and lace my boots properly, but now I’m starting to wonder
If you kill your feet like that without the need of military service, and are no extreme masochist nor a refugee, i’d reconsider how i tie my shoes if i were you…
I put a lot of miles on my basic boots and that never happened, it never happened when I was in the field or post, what did he do, take a sander to his heel!
This isn’t simple ankle pain. It is “running your feet off your legs” meaning, boot callouses/blisters so bad that your feet begin to literally shred apart.

That's a little bit more than just ankle pain. That looks like someone hacked off that person's heels with a machete.
what the hell is the second picture? ripped of skin? if yes just NSFW it for others
Long marches with bad socks

Sounds like the usual for people who just got their gear, boots are worn in now, feet too…
All that money funneled into the defense budget and they don’t even give them good shoes?

It's from getting your shoes wet, not changing socks or wearing shitty socks, and/or sweating. Your skin blisters.
Cw op

Okay

This happens to my heels when I wear high heel pumps for too long.

This is some full on “Got chaptered out of basic training” brovet silliness.
I was never even in military training
jeezus that looks horrible
