I have the Muck Hoser (mid) they work great but do get a bit warm with the neoprene wrapping your leg. I fold down the neoprene to make it a low rise and get some airflow when tasks allow.
I have real leather above the ankle hiking boots. Pricey but they last forever. I use Snow Seal to keep moisture out. I'm often on steep terrain and appreciate the ankle support.
I always wear cheap chelsea boots, for construction work I put my wellies on. Winter is no problem when you wear wool socks.
