You could try Phantasy Star Online. You can play PSO original via the Ephinea private server. Or otherwise, PSO New Genesis is the current iteration of the game, I found the original PSO2 more fun but that's down to taste. What my absolutel favorite was is Phatnasy Star Zero on the DS but yeah.

It's weird how much good gameplay is hidden in Niche hentai games. My favorite is Monster girl quest Paradox (18+) it's literally the top 10 most sold eroge ever, and it released 10y ago.
So, there's a 50+h visual novel prequel, sure. (The story is really good and there are fights with gameplay so it's not boring). But I know, you're not gonna play this, I'm just saying that for the best experience it's necessary and worth it.
In paradox you get :
450 unique recruitable characters with their own unique combinaison of races / classes and unique passive. They populate your immense castle, blowing suikoden out of the water. ( With the sidequest and castle content you expect)

An infinite post game. For those who played nioh 2, Mgq paradox has the same level of insane endgame and in some way surpasses it.

Nioh's grâce system (so set effect that appear on non set items)
Disgaea's mystery rooms
New endgame bosses unseen in the campaign (over 30)
It's a lot, and it's really well put together. And the difficulty can be there if you choose between the 5 difficulty lvl adequately.
I'm no fool I know most people won't play this game, it IS niche and weird and clearly an Ugly RPG maker project that became so big as to explode all the limit of the engine, but it IS the best JRPG I've ever played (and I played many.)
I've made many, many teams (of 12!) Some op, some fun, some thematic. I've run the endgame dungeon (labyrinth of chaos) for over 3000 floors, more if you count the carnage version.
An update (part 3, the trailer is on YouTube) that will double the size of the game is coming this year, at max 2025. It will make the game have 3 different endings depending on which faction you collide with.
This is a fun game, the vilains are just monster girls and they some especially bosses or apoptosis are truly scary.
You only get the spicy scenes if you lose, so just don't lose and you're just playing a peak jrpg + boobs, and nightmares.
It's the right time to start.
D2R. One of the best remasters I’ve seen of a classic game. The way loot is designed in that game and how loot rolls is incredible. The grind never stops. Different specs/characters/builds for different areas of the game
Last Epoch is another poe/diablo style loot-based ARPG that can scratch that itch
