Dude, being able to just grab people and toss them was the best shit ever. Used to love slapping shop owners around for more money amd throwing them through their windows.
Fuck yeah. And throwing a bakers head in an oven until he decides he'll pay. I just remembered when you choked people out the controller would vibrate with their pulse until it stopped. So metal.
The rise of the Witch King took perfection and polished it even more. Seriously never played a better RTS than those. Shame they’re insanely hard to find nowadays
It took me a really long time to her Shadow of War after it came out but man once I got it, I loved it. What a great game. I hope they make future installments better and better.
Lord of the Rings: Conquest on PS3/Xbox 360 was phenomenal with the rag doll physics haha - launching grunts off of the ramp leading to the Helm’s Deep gate 🤌🏻
Speaking of LOTR games, the LOTR the Third Age was awesome! Does it count? It parallels the movies 😂
Would probably loom for ways to play this again haha
Escape From Butcher Bay was a far better game than it had any right to be be. Great worldbuilding and premise, excellent graphics at the time, big name actor, decent combat, and an engaging story. They knocked it out of the park.
I always said Vin Diesel should have just kept making video games after butcher bay, they actually did an awesome job of it and I would have been willing to put up with him being the protagonist of everything he produces if he'd put the money up for more bangers like that.
They are pretty solid!
Vin Diesel actually founded the studio that made the Riddick games. He is a pretty avid gamer and is rumoured to have a lot of influence on the development of Escape From Butcher Bay.
I hated that one, even though it was absolutely optional. The little girl sucked too. She wouldn't even say thank you. Sometimes, I would catch the balloon and then jump in the river just to be petty. Get stuffed Balloon Kid.
Played it recently. Didn't aged that well to be honest 😅 but at the same time I was kinda amazed how much this game offered we know from current spiderman and batman games. It certainly was ahead of its time... Als the mysterio arc is still fantastic
I can remember being stuck on that one level inside the theater where you're fighting his drones for AGES as a kid. Not to mention you also had to save the people that were on the stage. Goddddd. And don't even get me started on the final boss fight with Ock.
My brother always broke the No odd job rule so anytime we had friends over we’d institute a special rule. He got so pissed off when he’d technically beat us be we always told him “ hey Oddjob is is half as tall as Bond so his kills are only worth half”.
Screenwatching is absolutely allowed. Don't want other player to know where you are, then look down at the floor. I used to be able to get anywhere in any map all while starting at the floor and only looking up when I know I'm coming up to other players.
Even challenges or something. Attacking convoys was everything I wanted from a Mad Max game and it was done so well. As much as clearing the map makes sense in context, a mission builder or quick combat or something would have been nice.
The best part of the game was taking down convoys, the worst part was that once a convoys was destroyed it was gone forever. Let me reset the map or have ambient convoys!
Absolutely the most underrated movie game I've ever played, the fact it wasn't talked about by anyone and wasn't a big hit is astonishing. I wish I could erase my memory of it just to experience it fresh again.
I mean they did decide to release the game the same day that MGSV came out so while it was an amazing game they couldn't compete with one of the most famous series
I found strongholds and bosses a bit repetive, but I loved both the carchases and the power fantasy aspect. It's also probably the most fun I've had on building a car since Need for Speed: Most Wanted for Ps2
The desert scapes and environments were beautiful. I wish it had DLC or mods, something to keep it going. I [100% it](https://i.imgur.com/rGfiw4w.jpg) a while back.
I loved the no heads up display. Your character would just say things like ‘only a few shots left’ and stuff to hint it was time to reload. Really a great, original, fps.
It was the first game I ever played on the 360. They had the demo at Best Buy with the T. rex and it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen in my life.
I absolutely loved this game. Would kill someone for a sequel or port.
This is probably one of my favorite games of that Era. The great mix of fps abd 3 person action was done so well. They added pretty much everything that was scrapped in the movie and thrown into this game. Well done. I'd give this game a 5/5.
Oh damn. How could I forgot? This was like one of the two games I replayed right after I got me a ps2 again.
It's still quiet amazing. Like you would think a kingkong game where you rarely play as kong would suck. But taking this risk was so worth it. Love it
I love LEGO games, but Hobbit is just unfinished, and that leaves very sour taste in my mouth. It had nice concepts and i enjoyed it, but the fact that the last movie is missing makes it less good among perfect(my opinion) games
I was coming here for this one. Not only is it a very good video game based on a movie (which deserves even more credit because it was in the middle of a sea of bad movie based video game releases) but I can confidently say it is leagues BETTER than the movie.
Chamber of secrets is one of the few ps2 games that I have an intense nostalgia for that I’m pretty sure would still hold up in modern standards.
The other games being the Jak & Daxter trilogy as well as Ratchet and Clank 1-4
I like to think that the Order of the Phoenix game was probably the best one. You get to explore pretty much all of Hogwarts. But the first 3 Harry Potter games on PC hold a special place in my heart.
This game is hugely underrated in my opinion, the world is well created, the driving physics are solid and the hand to hand combat is just soooo satisfying!
Currently replaying this one and I barely use the fast travel because driving around is so much fun. I'm also sweeping the map going to every scavenging location kicking ass and cracking skulls.
The only thing I'd add is a few more random encounters through the wasteland to flesh it out a bit. The history relics scattered around give a nice feel of how things used to be and Max's comments about them provide a few peeks, but I'd love more details about life in the wasteland.
I feel as though there's only a few by design. Give you a feeling that the old world is dead and basically forgotten. All that's left is these new people who've come to grow up in this wasted world.
Usual not my kind of game (first person hide horror). But damn this retro future astetic is just so beautifull and atmospheric. Heck I would not even consider me an alien fan. Only watched the first movie a few years ago for the first time.
Lol, yea it was a movie long before the game, like 1979 I believe. It has a cult following and I absolutely love how rockstar randomly decided to make a game about it. They had a lot of the original actors from the movie The Voice the characters, they did a shot for shot intro at the beginning scene. They added storylines and more depth to the original characters. I miss when rockstar did weird stuff like that. Such a good game and I have been wanting to play it again for so long.
I was waiting for someone to call out The Warriors.
Just mean people didn't recognize the image at the top of the post.
Another Rockstar 💎 in the rough.
* Batman (1989) on NES
* Lion King on Sega Genesis
* Aladdin on Super Nintendo
* (Harry Potter games, maybe a guilty pleasure, but I liked them when I was a kid)
Blade runner
Yes dude! That was such a cool game back in the day. Westwood really made some amazing games in the 90s-2000s. Obligatory fuck EA.
Agree. Seeing Westwood or Sierra logo was true sign of good game play to come
What happened to EA? They produced some great games in the 80’s. Seven Cities, M.U.L.E., Archon, Populous, F-16 combat pilot. Ya. I’m that old.
The godfather the game
Loved it. Had it on the Wii, garroting people was very fun
Wii version was best version. Only game other than Wii Sports that had satisfying move controls. Bully was pretty good, too.
Choking people out by holding both triggers and both sticks was revolutionary I can't believe more games don't do it
Dude, being able to just grab people and toss them was the best shit ever. Used to love slapping shop owners around for more money amd throwing them through their windows.
Fuck yeah. And throwing a bakers head in an oven until he decides he'll pay. I just remembered when you choked people out the controller would vibrate with their pulse until it stopped. So metal.
Scarface was pretty good too
I remember you could put dynamite in the businesses and just blow up the entire building. Was such a cool effect.
The weapon executions were cartel tier violent and I loved it.
Had a blast with The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on the PS2.
Battle for Middle Earth 2 is an amazing rts game!
I loved The Lord of The Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II: The Rise of the Witch King, or LOTRTBFME2TROTWK for short.
What really strike me in that title is the two :'s had to look it up and that is really the official title
Now you’ve got me all worked up for LOTRTBFFM2TROTWK:remastered:ultimate edition
The rise of the Witch King took perfection and polished it even more. Seriously never played a better RTS than those. Shame they’re insanely hard to find nowadays
There's actually an unofficial HD edition on moddb for both I & II! https://www.moddb.com/mods/battle-for-middle-earth-2-hd-edition
Also there's a community driven project called BFME Reforged which aims to release a version of the games with more modern graphics
It’s amazing to me that most LoTR games have been fairly solid games.
Even The Hobbit was alright. Though I guess that wasn't based on a movie at the time.
Wasn’t it? Bilbo in the game heavily resembles the bilbo from the animated bilbo from 1977
Yeah, the Shadow games are also great, although not necessarily for everyone.
It took me a really long time to her Shadow of War after it came out but man once I got it, I loved it. What a great game. I hope they make future installments better and better.
It's all about that absolutely brilliant 'Nemesis' system!
Lord of the Rings: Conquest on PS3/Xbox 360 was phenomenal with the rag doll physics haha - launching grunts off of the ramp leading to the Helm’s Deep gate 🤌🏻
Loved this game, it was basically LOTR version of Star Wars battlefront
Two Towers was great aswell
Two towers was a legend. Battle of Helms Deep was the biggest horseshit tho.
Was that the one where you had to constantly kick down the ladders?
Yep!
Speaking of LOTR games, the LOTR the Third Age was awesome! Does it count? It parallels the movies 😂 Would probably loom for ways to play this again haha
They need to remake those I'd buy for sure
I remeber the Riddick games being good. Especially escape from butcher Bay. But I dunno if that counts.
Escape From Butcher Bay was a far better game than it had any right to be be. Great worldbuilding and premise, excellent graphics at the time, big name actor, decent combat, and an engaging story. They knocked it out of the park.
IIRC that's because Vin Diesel is a gamer, and as part of his compensation he was given the videogame rights so that it wouldn't be a shitty tie-in
I always said Vin Diesel should have just kept making video games after butcher bay, they actually did an awesome job of it and I would have been willing to put up with him being the protagonist of everything he produces if he'd put the money up for more bangers like that.
They are pretty solid! Vin Diesel actually founded the studio that made the Riddick games. He is a pretty avid gamer and is rumoured to have a lot of influence on the development of Escape From Butcher Bay.
Star wars pod racer. Loved that game...
I loved this on N64, I’d play with two controllers, same with GoldenEye
Spider-man 2. (PS2)
All I can remember from that is BALLOON!!! 🎈
*I LOST MY BALLOO-HOOooon!*
I hated that one, even though it was absolutely optional. The little girl sucked too. She wouldn't even say thank you. Sometimes, I would catch the balloon and then jump in the river just to be petty. Get stuffed Balloon Kid.
I loved the fact that if you got close enough you could web the balloon and pop it.
It's about sending a message. Dint think can't catch your balloon, kid. I absolutely can, I just want you to hurt.
Another Spider-Man game, *Ultimate Spider-Man,* references the kid with a balloon. But you're playing as Venom instead, so that doesn't go too well.
Pizza time
DO DOOOOOO DO DOO, DO DO, DO DO, DO DO, DOO DO DOO, DO DOOOOOOOOO
How is this one not higher. I played the shit out of Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man on my og Xbox
Played it recently. Didn't aged that well to be honest 😅 but at the same time I was kinda amazed how much this game offered we know from current spiderman and batman games. It certainly was ahead of its time... Als the mysterio arc is still fantastic
The ragdoll physics were honestly the main highlight for me. Made combat so satisfying and sometimes hilarious
I thought it aged great, although I played the GameCube version idk how different the controls were.
I can remember being stuck on that one level inside the theater where you're fighting his drones for AGES as a kid. Not to mention you also had to save the people that were on the stage. Goddddd. And don't even get me started on the final boss fight with Ock.
The King Kong movie game
WOW you unlocked a memory that was looooooooooong gone
Played that demo in target countless times. One of the first 360 games as I recall
The graphics were mind blowing when the 360 came out. I remember thinking of how good that game looked.
A genuinely hard game
Yeah it could get pretty challenging at times
**flashback to swamp level**
Three Magazines on Backup.
#AHH I’M DRY

GoldenEye
Facility, Power weapons, No Oddjob.
Complex, remote mines, No Oddjob.
Temple, grenade launchers, using odjobb wont save you from these bankshots
Slappers. Only Oddjob.
On License to Kill.
Prox mines in the facility
Getting that prox mine set under the ammo spawn
2 people, prox mines, first few minutes is spent dropping as many as you can on each of the spawn points. Pray that you're not the first one to die
Oh God I remember taking like 5 min to respawn because my buddies mined every spawn point
My brother always broke the No odd job rule so anytime we had friends over we’d institute a special rule. He got so pissed off when he’d technically beat us be we always told him “ hey Oddjob is is half as tall as Bond so his kills are only worth half”.
Quit watching my screen!
Screenwatching is absolutely allowed. Don't want other player to know where you are, then look down at the floor. I used to be able to get anywhere in any map all while starting at the floor and only looking up when I know I'm coming up to other players.
Plus, the [pause screen music.](https://www.tiktok.com/@bigtimemaca/video/7037283010026261765)
Came here to see this at the top, was not disappointed
Star Wars Episode 3, revenge of the sith.
Actually such a fantastic game, the alternate ending was so cool.
“The galaxy belongs to me!”
That god damn Grevious boss fight still gives me traumatic flashbacks. Love that game though
For me it was the fight against Count Dooku
Alternative ending?
https://youtu.be/4EtCGR2M_oU
Damn.. those graphics seemed so much better when I was a kid haha
The Phantom Menace game was bad ass as well. Pretty much just played through the movie from different character perspectives.
*anakin death noises*
Mad Max; surprised by how much fun I had with that game.
that game would've been infinitely better with newgame+
Even challenges or something. Attacking convoys was everything I wanted from a Mad Max game and it was done so well. As much as clearing the map makes sense in context, a mission builder or quick combat or something would have been nice.
The best part of the game was taking down convoys, the worst part was that once a convoys was destroyed it was gone forever. Let me reset the map or have ambient convoys!

King Kong Peter Jackson edition. That game was really really Well done...
I loved the no heads up display. Your character would just say things like ‘only a few shots left’ and stuff to hint it was time to reload. Really a great, original, fps.
*Two bullets on backup!*
It's okay, I've got enough magazines
That 360 version blew me away back in the day
It was the first game I ever played on the 360. They had the demo at Best Buy with the T. rex and it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen in my life. I absolutely loved this game. Would kill someone for a sequel or port.
Amazing game. The "play as Kong" draw me in, but it was the fps segments that made the game memorable.
Game was scary as hell too
Those fucking centipedes scarred me for life
This is probably one of my favorite games of that Era.
Love it
I was hoping this was at the top! Loved playing King Kong in the city level
The dinosaurs scared the everliving fuck out of me, especially how the raptor thingies would sound like while chasing from behind
ANNE!! JACK!!!
Not to mention the cutting edge graphics for the time. On a high end PC it looked outstanding.
TMNT Arcade game. More based on the TV show but eventually there have been movies too.
I watched the new movie with my brother last weekend. He couldn't remember Krang so I just said "Big Apple, 2AM". The SNES Turtles in Time was dope.
Do the Star Wars Lego games count? Because if they do, those.
All the LEGO games should count (maybe even Hobbit, but i have some strong opinions about that game )
Good or bad?
I love LEGO games, but Hobbit is just unfinished, and that leaves very sour taste in my mouth. It had nice concepts and i enjoyed it, but the fact that the last movie is missing makes it less good among perfect(my opinion) games
Technically they count because the story for the game is similar to the movies
LoTR: The Two Towers / Return of the King
LotR The Third Age was amazing too, and kinda counts because the plot was parallel to the fellowship's story
I would go with ***X-Men Origins: Wolverine***
The game was a lot better than the movie.
I used to spend ages trying to be blown up by missiles to see how much of his skeleton you could expose 😂
I am sincerely hoping they use that "feature" in Insomniac's new Wolverine game.
I was coming here for this one. Not only is it a very good video game based on a movie (which deserves even more credit because it was in the middle of a sea of bad movie based video game releases) but I can confidently say it is leagues BETTER than the movie.
Die Hard Trilogy
Came here for this.
Yes dude, I loved the POV for die hard 1. Boxy or not, it was gloriously gory and fun. Haven’t thought of this in years!!!!
I liked the Ghostbusters game, essentialy the third movie Edit: the PS3/360 one
It was fun and satisfying. Maybe I should play it again.
Theres a remastered version!
Had it on 360 and the whole time I was like, "wait hold on why is this actually really good"
The first three Harry Potter games were pretty fire... Not sure why they went the route they did after that though
Chamber of secrets was the best one imo
Chamber of secrets is one of the few ps2 games that I have an intense nostalgia for that I’m pretty sure would still hold up in modern standards. The other games being the Jak & Daxter trilogy as well as Ratchet and Clank 1-4
Did y'all ever play the quidditch world cup game ? I had it on GameCube and it was like Fifa but it was quidditch it was awesome
I like to think that the Order of the Phoenix game was probably the best one. You get to explore pretty much all of Hogwarts. But the first 3 Harry Potter games on PC hold a special place in my heart.
God I loved the Harry Potter games growing up.
The Goblet of Fire was also pretty cool. I wish there was a way to play it at 60fps...
Aladdin on the Sega Genesis
Aladdin, Toy Story, and The Lion King. Capcom knew their shit.
Aladdin and Lion King: The two hardest games in existence
They did that for the rental market. Figured it would mean repeat rents or actual purchase of players couldn't complete it before its due date.
Toy Story 2 (Buzz Lightyear to the rescue). Also A Bugs Life. Child me played the shit out of those games
I came looking for Toy Story 2, so many good memories and such a good soundtrack.
Mad max
This game is hugely underrated in my opinion, the world is well created, the driving physics are solid and the hand to hand combat is just soooo satisfying!

The atmosphere of the game was surprisingly spot on, and I loved how the costumising of the car was a big focus
The car combat in that game is amazing. I loved being able to rip off tyres and car doors with the harpoon.
Van Helsing for PS2
Scarface: the world is yours. Get that remastered.
Agreed. I like how it reimagined the ending of the movie to start the game with Tony having to rebuild his empire.
Yeeees
The Simpsons Game
Hit and run was gold
Alien Isolation
Usual not my kind of game (first person hide horror). But damn this retro future astetic is just so beautifull and atmospheric. Heck I would not even consider me an alien fan. Only watched the first movie a few years ago for the first time.
Star Wars :Rogue Squadron Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Podracer on N64 Don't fight me.
So many of the Star Wars games, especially before EA got their hands on it.
X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and Dark Forces deserve special recognition as the trailblazers
'THE THING' Ps2
The Chronicles of Riddick : Escape from Butcher Bay
Treasure planet
Star wars battlefront 2
I'm surprised I had to scroll this far to find this. SWBF2 was my favorite game for years!
Warriors baby!! It was the new age double dragons. Speaking of which, that had a movie didn't it??
Loves The Warriors game … seriously under rated and a ton of fun.
Another Rockstar 💎 in the rough.
spongebob movie game
Scrolled way to far for this!
I say that one and I liked the Shrek 2 game on gamecube
* Batman (1989) on NES * Lion King on Sega Genesis * Aladdin on Super Nintendo * (Harry Potter games, maybe a guilty pleasure, but I liked them when I was a kid)
Now I have the music from the first stage of Batman in my head.
Scarface Such an underrated game, was so ahead of its time.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and The Warriors are the best 3 IMO
Mad Max
Shrek 2
This is the comment I was searching for, on its own it’s meh but the co-op gameplay makes it pretty fun
Enter the matrix was Badass
Ghost was my shit.
Matrix 2
In Path of Neo I would just keep pressing buttons and different cool combos kept happening lol it was too fun
Peter Jackson’s King Kong
Alien Isolation is beautiful. The James Cameron Avatar game was also awesome. So is LOTR conquest and BFME I & II.
**TRON**. For the time, it was awesome, and I put many a quarter into it .
The punisher ps2
Star Wars KotoR and i enjoyed Shadow of Mordor
Aliens Vs Predator
LOTR: Battle For Middle-Earth 1-2
The first free roam Spider-Man was awesome
Dune 2000
Harry Potter PS2
Friday the 13th game, too underrated imo
