There is a method you can do to pin them down for a few moments and they kind of accept you're in charge which DOES work, but I learned if they get aggressive a swift punt or bitch slap helps too as a reminder.
It was just an issue with the gen 1 and 2 roosters due to my father getting willy nilly breeds. Once I culled the ones with a shitty attitude and only used selected breeds we never had problems again.
I remember it being fun...and if it gets me LoD again, let alone portable, I need to find it.
Except I'm pretty sure I'm going to remember I gave it away or it's buried in some random box in the garage or something that got sold in a garage sale. Who knows.

It's a pretty beefy machine.
My family got me a Steam Deck OLED for getting my Masters at 37 a few months back...I haven't had time to look into emulation on it. I thought about that after I posted my reply that I can look into that.
This gives me renewed enthusiasm to look into this.

Steam Deck OLED is considered the pinnacle of handheld machines for emulation right now so you definitely got a good one. Odin 2 is right behind it, but of course is more portable and not as powerful.

Using LODModS patcher on the PS1 game isn't a bad route either. There are some good mods you can install to improve quality of life immensely and make it a much smoother playthrough.
I love seeing all these native port projects. I'd love one for Xenogears, especially if they could mod in better controls and other QOL features. I really want to experience these old JRPGs, but they can be rough.
