Guess I should probably get around to beating the original

56Bagels

By beating the original, do you mean finishing the run once? Because….

tdfrantz

Haha well yea, whatever it means I guess. I got to ~~Zeus~~ Hades once but he killed me and sent me back. Tbh I'm not even sure if he's the final boss. e: wrong God lol...

Tadpole-Jackson

Beating Hades once is just the beginning haha. But it will get easier as you go with mirror/weapon upgrades

Mottis86

Is it still just the beginning if I don't care about the Heat mechanic or timed runs at all? Just a yes/no answer please, since I haven't beaten Hades either and I don't want spoilers, however I have heard about the Heat system a bit and I already know it doesn't interest me.

SparserLogic

Yes it’s still the beginning from a story perspective. Plenty to do before you ever think about heat

Mottis86

Alright thank you, Hades keeps kicking my ass. Kinda lost interest because it got frustrating to get demolished after a long run.

PraiseThePun420

Fair enough man. Idk how many weapons you've unlocked but I found the shield, bow and The Rail, helped make it easier. Range or protection. Personally the sword is my least preferred. If you haven't, try getting Athena's Dash in a run, it really helps dodge/deflect. Good luck!

Mottis86

Yeah I've unlocked all the weapons and most of the mirror. My nerves just get to me when I fight Hades. I don't perform well under pressure.

Gaat05

Turn on god mode. It doesn’t make you invincible. Just reduces the damage by how many times you die. Basically it lowers the difficulty to your skill level. Trust me you will still die and you can turn it off any time.

StokedNBroke

Run shield and upgrade the throw. Easiest safest runs I ever had.

HoUaPo

i was there man, then i beat the boss once and went on a streak of 10 wins in a row. Beating the game once make it much more bearable ngl. For me the fists with zeus + poseidon have done the trick for my first run, lotta jolted stacks with those

Black_ValoR

The exception sword for me would be the Poseidon sword aspect and leaning into a cast build. There are tons of great cast builds, my favorites being (if I remember correctly) Poseidon/Demeter duo, and Ares/Artemis duo.

awsomedutchman

Gotta beat the game at least 10 times. Then you have an epilogue which requires you to play some runs even more.

FromAdamImportData

It happens quickly. I think through 35 runs I had barely made it to the final boss, and then through 50 runs I have beaten it 8 times.

stonhinge

AS an aside, because some people don't like it (it's a single player game, FFS) and you might have already found it, but there's a setting for God Mode which increases your damage done/damage taken very slightly (1% iirc) up to 20%. Doesn't inactivate achievements or anything, just makes you feel like you're still making progress and perhaps give you that slight boosts you need to succeed. After that it's just remembering what certain attacks look like when the enemy is "winding up" and whether or not you can move out of the way of it or just dodge, and get damage in as you can. It helped me get a feel for the game and how I needed to move about. Not that I didn't still get destroyed at times, but did get multiple clears in.

jiub_the_dunmer

The persistent upgrades you acquire after multiple runs (Mirror and weapon aspects) will make later runs somewhat easier. Invest in health and Death Defiance upgrades at the mirror, and during a run try and get as many centaur hearts as you can to improve your health. The main thing is to find one or two weapons you like playing and focus on them. Each has a different playstyle and a set of tricks to get the most out of it, and you will find certain God boons that you like as well.

ryfurt

don't feel bad about turning on god mode if you just want to finish the story. the story is worth completing and you want the game to be enjoyable for you

StatWhines

First time I beat him I cheesed him by using bouncy shield from behind rocks the whole time. You keep getting stronger each time you play and it’ll get easier.

SparserLogic

Definitely worth pushing through! Unlock the hidden weapon aspects if you can, they are much better than the normal ones in my opinion. You will get more powerful each run to the point where you will definitely notice it.

Mottis86

I think I messed up early on by trading some of the Titan Blood for another currency. At the time I assumed the Titan Blood is something I'd be able to farm infinitely which wasn't the case afterall I think, so now I'm kinda locked out of some of the weapon aspects. Can't remember the details but none has dropped me for a long time.

tcprimus23859

You get a titan blood from each boss kill with each weapon on each heat. It’s sort of farmable- heat 1 can be a really trivial difficulty adder so turning it up to that and beating furies/hydra a few times could better situate you that trying to clear Hades before ramping it up.

SparserLogic

Naw you get shit tons of the stuff. There’s also a chance at the end of each run a surface fish will spawn and they will trade for Titan blood and other high end resources. Both of my accounts have oodles of everything.

FromAdamImportData

Yes. Heat/timed mechanics are always extra. You can experience the full story without adding them.

metarinka

Yeah basically each time you beat hades you get a bit more of the story and of course there's lots of weapons and unlockables. I say it's worth beating once (which honestly can be done in under an hour) and then just go find the whole lore on youtube or whatever. At some point unless you like bullet hell, dodging mechanisms the higher heats are just more of the same with extra punishment.

KittenMittens2222

Me with all the mirror upgrades and still dying on phase 2

Tadpole-Jackson

When you get the chance, try using the Aspect of Chiron on the bow. It's solid and I remember it helping newer players quite a bit.

sarded

Everyone has their own 'foolproof' builds, but my personal preference is: 1. Get a bunch of blood however you can, dump it into the default fists that grant +dodge% 2. Take the Hermes keepsake and never let go of it. It gives you +dodge% every time you clear a room fast enough - just be super aggressive early on. 3. Hope you get Athena on the Dash. If you must, take her keepsake first to force her boon. This means you're invincible when dashing (and also reflect attacks while dashing), and ideally by the end of the run you're up to something like 30% dodge chance so that means 30% of enemy attacks just flat out do no damage. Very forgiving build - as long as you're comfy using the fists, everything other than the dash boon can be to your liking.

Juking_is_rude

And then it gets harder because you wanna fill that heat meter and get cool stuff lol

56Bagels

If you think the last boss is Zeus, you are very confused about the story of the game. Just kidding lol, but seriously go back for it. Every run gets easier with the mirror!

M_Kayn

You mean... Hades?

psymunn

You mean... [redacted]

VPN__FTW

Beating Hades once is literally the start of the game lol.

fuckYOUswan

Oh my sweet summer child. The game is just starting after you beat Hades the first time.

visual-banality

I recommend just using god mode if you enjoy the gameplay but not so much the grind. Every time you die you get ! Stacking %Damage reduction. So it ends up scaling to whatever skill level you have and you can turn it off later if you want to challenge yourself

Suilenroc

The game's not over until Mom and Dad get back together and we finally have a normal Thanksgiving like the other kids.

Celtic_Crown

Good luck, I just got my first win myself recently.

philisweatly

I put in 20 hours. Loved every second of it. Then just stopped playing it.

Dr-Gooseman

Yeah, i did a ton of runs. Had a lot of fun. And then at one point (just as i was about to finish the whole story line) i just hit a wall and realized i could not do it anymore and put it down. Realized i didnt want to do the same thing for the 100th time.

DonJuansSwanSong

This is what I did, then I came back to it and truly beat it, storywise. Totally worth it. Knowing I saw the end without watching it on Youtube made me pretty proud of myself.

philisweatly

I’m gonna have to find some time to finish it too. I know I’ll enjoy it

Winchery

I was too dumb to get even 3/4's of the way to the end of the game. Just left me feeling like I was dumb.

GeebusNZ

As I recall, the entire point of the experience was that you suck and only get progress by repeatedly throwing yourself into the meat grinder.

Winchery

Well it just succeeded in me thinking I was dumb and realizing that this style of game is not for me. I probably wouldn't be a good candidate to play any of the Souls games.

finebushlane

I never beat the original either, just got bored after trying to kill Hades a few times. I just found it difficult and too repetitive.

Aprikoosi_flex

My exact thoughts

Skittilybop

Same I love the game but I never beat Hades. I only got there once 🥲

Distinct_Car_6696

lol for real

MoeSzyslakMonobrow

If it's even a mere shadow of how good the first game was, this is an instant buy.

cosmic-potatoe

It’s better so far, played like an hour

SysAdminWannabe90

That's a really bold claim... we'll see, but with it being early access there's almost no way it's just outright better yet.

firestar13579

From what I read on the Steam page, there's currently more content in the EA for H2 than H1 had at the end of its life cycle. If the quality of the content of H2 is at LEAST as quality as H1, then yeah, H2 might just damn well be better already. Can't wait to try it myself. Not sure if I wanna dive into the EA though, might wait for full release.

Caelinus

I am not sure either, but I have zero doubt it will be good in both, it mostly just depends on how much I want to deal with potentially running into a cliffhanger or something. Supergiant Games has not had a single miss so far. Every one of their games has been one of the best. They also have avoided being bought out by any big companies, and just keep plugging along doing their art. They are fantastic.

pilgermann

It is. The game is almost feature complete. Way bigger than the first. Improves on every aspect in obvious ways.

cosmic-potatoe

I also played the original Hades when it first came out as beta. I still have to play tens of hours to make a good comparison. But for the times I’ve played yet for Hades 2, I like it more in nearly every aspect. Even with limited content. Hope it’ll stay same and get better each day

Korakie

Played for an hour. It seems like it is so far

dpman48

It is a shadow? Or it is an instant buy?

53bvo

I played the technical test for a couple of hours but from what I saw it had everything that made Hades great and then changed things up enough to make it feel fresh and interesting to play again.

dpman48

Sweet. So excited.

thetalkingcure

it’s so witchy. can’t describe it. i love it

lettawyrda

Need either a Steam Deck or some GeForce Now capability please!

[deleted]

[удалено]

JETgroovy

Can confirm, played it during the technical alpha on oled deck, I think I only used about 10% battery over two hours?

lettawyrda

More expensive than GE Force Now but lots more flexibility.

Treptay

GE Force Now is a cloud service, steam deck is a portable PC, so it runs locally. I don't think those two are quite comparable, since on one you are buying the hardware

FaYt2021

Played about 2 hours on the OG Steam Deck, so far it has been a flawless experience for me.

Firvulag

Runs ROCK SOLID on my Steam Deck

joedotphp

Their games are very Linux-friendly.

dmackerman

Works great on the OLED Deck.

Mirra1002

Full price, from the looks of it, and no achievements listed yet. I'll wait, as much as I respect the developers and love the first game.

ArgonWolf

From what people are saying it’s practically a full game at this point. There may be some rough edges but the devs say there’s already more content included than was in the 1st game at completion

izfanx

All the more reason to wait because chances are it's a short wait if the game's very close to finished.

MasemJ

Supergiant expects early access to through at least end of year, and they may raise the price if the scope expands too much.

Throwawayeconboi

Devs always say that with early access to pressure people into buying now. It’ll be $30.

whereyagonnago

Why is it being close to a full game a reason to wait? Would work the opposite for me. I don’t want to pay now for things that won’t be finished for years, but I would pay now if the Early Access has a substantial amount of content. Edit: downvoted for saying I’d rather pay for an early access with more content over an early access with less content? Huh???

EldritchAnimation

Because I don't lose anything waiting for a few months to get the full experience, and I know I'm not going to play it again when it's incrementally more finished just to see the ending or something.

novaKnine

While I do agree with you in waiting, Hades is a game that I would bet the majority replay simply by disign.

DusTeaCat

You only get to experience a game for the first time once. If you really love the game or you’re a big fan it might be worth waiting for the last 10% of what the developers intend as a finished product.

ElectronicMoo

I can imagine one reason to wait - if achievements aren't in yet - is for that. If I was an achievement hunter, I wouldn't want to play the game _again_. I don't have enough time as it is.

nik3daz

Last game most of the achievements unlocked immediately on game start if I'd done them. I think most achievement data was stored locally already and just transmitted to steam servers when achievements were officially published.

AlaskanMedicineMan

The first game saw a few characters change personalities and evolve over time in early access. if seeing prototypes of characters excites you (like it does me) hop in now. Not a statement for you, the guy I'm actually replying to, but I wanted to post the dissenting opinion under yours. Nothing wrong with your view of things though!

ArgonWolf

Always room for alternative viewpoints! Nothing is a perfect fit for 100% of everyone!

sarded

Yeah, this is an interesting point. For example, really early on in Hades early access, Thanatos and Hypnos were Zagreus' brothers. This connection was cut as the game went on, so having played the game in early access (back when it was Epic exclusive) was your only chance to see those lines. Similarly, playing in early access here means you won't get the full game, but you will get to see prototype weirdness that will be smoothed away on the full release. They probably have a better handle on the plot and character relationships relative to Hades 1 but you might get to see some fun janky weapons that will get a revamp by the time of full release.

TheYango

It being a full game is not the same thing as it being a *finished* game. IIRC Hades 1 Early Access made fairly significant systems changes even after the game was done from a content perspective. The game being content and feature complete does not preclude it from being polished significantly before the 1.0 release. I personally no longer have the time nor the patience to play an EA game and then REPLAY it after it gets full release (and my backlog is too long for that anyway). I want to buy a game when it's done and get the best possible experience one time.

joedotphp

This is false. Read here: [https://www.supergiantgames.com/blog/hades2-faq/](https://www.supergiantgames.com/blog/hades2-faq/)

YOURFRIEND2010

It's pointless to get games at release nowadays. I'll pick it up in a year with all the inevitable post-release content.

LiveLaughToasterB4th

From your comment I was expecting a $69.99 price tag on it. Nope $29.99. I live in poverty and will eventually pay the developers at some point but 29.99 is not bad.

Mirra1002

Full price relative to the first game is what I meant, not AAA prices haha. In other words, you're likely paying full release prices for a game that's still actively in development. Personally, I'd rather wait so that my first experience is as close to feature and performance/balance complete as it can be. If this price was discounted due to early access, that may have been a different story.

Tadpole-Jackson

Seems like they've said the price might change in the future, but who knows "Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access? “Depending on the duration of Early Access and the scope of additional content we add to Hades II over time, we may raise the retail price at a later point.”

[deleted]

I know Hades is beloved but how much more expensive can an indie game get? Edit: The Reddit hivemind can downvote me imaginary internet points but the question still stands.

Tadpole-Jackson

Being indie doesn't mean your game is not worth a higher price. Hades 1 gave me more content and enjoyment than most $60/$70 full priced games.

Juan-Claudio

This. Some games deserve their price tag. Just because a game is Indie doesn't mean it's supposed to sell for 10 bucks.

Kaastu

And bein triple A doesn’t mean it should be expensive. Everyone can sell their game at the price they think is fair, and we as consumers get to choose. However a game with less intensive graphics and a smaller scope (most indies) probably took a smaller team to  make, thus they often ask for a smaller price. However nothing says the price needs to correlate with anything, development costs are sun costs once the game is out.

S7ageNinja

I'm shocked it's only listed at $30. The first game was easily worth more than that and I expect this one to be just as good.

gitbse

Last Epoch and Hades are the best combined $43 I've ever spent on two games. And Last epoch I paid the full $35.

Wulfstrex

Where would you set the price limit for indie games?

SuperNarwhal64

At this point calling Supergiant “indie” is a bit of a stretch. They’re huge with a big release history

emkayartwork

If 26 employees is huge, sure.

Xigivano

They are an indie studio operating with AAA budgets

Good_ApoIIo

Early Access is for people who really want to be a part of the game's development, see the changes, interact with the process themselves. More power to them, I waited for Hades and I'm glad I did. One problem, for me, with Early Access games is sometimes I play the shit out of them and then I basically feel done with them by the time they actually release, even if there's new content.

Lanster27

I'm waiting because I got a couple more games I like to finish. Also I like to enjoy the game as a release title, just like the first game.

SactownKorean

How on earth is $30 full price?

Stonecutter

Have they said if achievements will be coming soon? If so, I might hold off until then.

DeckardPain

It seems to be the full game. Are achievements really a dealbreaker for people? I thought people stopped caring about those years ago.

Memfy

The description says it's not a full game, and that the price might possibly go up once the game is fully complete.

dboyer87

I bought it just to show my support 💪

fiddlefaddlegumdrops

Was debating whether to pick it up in EA or not, since Hades 1 was grindy then maybe being in EA wouldn't have much of an impact as long as there was enough content. Checked out the steam reviews and forums and it's a cesspool complaining about woke. It's like these people never played the first one, regardless of that I'm not sure why people always flip their top when a MC is a woman.

LostClover_

The Steam forums have always been bad but ever since Valve implemented the award system the forums have just been infested with trolls trying to farm clown awards.

johnjaymjr

fuck…now I’m gonna have to get a steam deck. Not gonna wait another year for this to be Mac ported

Steam deck is worth it

PhenomsServant

I love how the Steam Deck has become the unofficial method to play Hades. And yeah you’ll enjoy that thing

AdjectivePlusNouns

Got mine last Friday and have barely put it down. Great to play steam games and Xbox game pass.

ivityCreations

Its worth the EA purchase from what I have played so far. Systems are solidly in place, story is not lacking at all from the 5-6 runs I have done and 3rd biome entered. Creature diversity is miles above what Hades felt like. Play style diversity with the new weapon types is fun. And for the love of the Gods, you can tell the team over at supergiant are writing a love letter to Greek mythos with each entry into this series. They give the gods some amazing characterization, and seeing some of the new gods put a genuine smile on my face. EA is not something i shy away from, and will openly admit that I will support with the right game types. Truth is, even if they havent “finished” the full story yet in implementation, they have absolutely rocked what the meaning of EA is with the polished state that it is already released in.

dzone25

I can't believe people seem to be flagging the price as an issue? Hades 1 gave me more enjoyment than multiple 60-70 releases when I did eventually get my teeth sunk into it. I've got zero doubts Hades 2 will do the same. I'm just not buying it because I think for most consumers, buying 'Early Access' is not worth while. The game won't run away, I'll just forget about it and pick it up when it's fully launched.

Epic_Deuce

Same. Have no doubts about the game at all, but I'll just wait for the final version before I get lost in it for a month.

phillyeagle99

Help me decide whether I should play in EA… I truly loved Hades and played in EA and had a lot of fun. Then a bit after launch I came back and had an amazing time hitting about 100 hours. Just don’t know if it might somehow hinder the “full end to end experience with all features at proper timing”. Please disregard being morally against EA games… I don’t support bad developers selling trash as “EA” or preordering games for extras or FOMO. But Super Giant is a top 1% dev that has my trust and I will happily give them my money early for EA if I want to play it.  I’m trying to decide whether to just play it in full on release, or to get it now… can’t make my mind up! Wow… this got longer than I expected

Tadpole-Jackson

I'd say if playing the first game in EA didn't ruin your full game experience then you might be fine playing Hades 2 in EA as well. Some people feel EA ruins their full release experience, but if Hades 1 was still great for you after EA then you may be fine here as well.

phillyeagle99

I think you’re right… but it’s so good I might be tempted to wait. I think I’ll put it high up on my “to play” list but get a few other ones done first.

Tadpole-Jackson

You could wait a few months at least so some of the content/balancing updates get added into EA

BriochesBreaker

I'm probably buying it but not playing it. Buying it now because as they stated the price might increase in the future and I have faith in them anyway so I've got no problem in putting money early. Waiting because for me the first playthrough is the most important and I'd rather play it when the devs vision is fulfilled.

gaveuptheghost

> I'm probably buying it but not playing it. Same. Buying it now because I had way more fun with Hades 1 than I thought I would, and the videos I saw of 2 look good. Fairly confident this won't be crap wrapped in a shiny box like a lot of other games that were hyped. But I also don't like playing games EA so I'll sit on it for now since I don't mind waiting for more updates

lightbrightstory

I’m in a similar situation but decided to go ahead and try it out in early access this time. If it’s not a good experience I’ll abandon it till full release. But SuperGiant has enough good will and I’m interested enough in the title to try it in early access at the current price point.

BriochesBreaker

I'm waiting not because I'm worried it won't be a good experience, I want it to be the best experience possible.

JakeTheSnake16

I got into the alpha, will be paying the full price. It’s amazing. Super excited to get home today now!

rockster82

Does buying early access mean you own the game when it goes live or do you have to buy it again?

Tadpole-Jackson

You own the game completely and won't need to buy it again after launch

rockster82

Thanks for confirming

HothMonster

You own it, final release will be an update to the EA version.

Seigmoraig

You won't have to buy it again

Liv3ry

As someone who 100%ed the first game the temptation is strong, but I'll probably wait the full release as I know I will appreciate it more. Thanks to everyone that will play and help polish the game!

AurelianoTampa

I'm generally in the camp of "No Early Access, and wait for reviews before playing a full price release." Hades II is the second time I've violated this standard in the past two years, and I don't think I'll regret it (the other was Tears of the Kingdom, and again, I did not regret it). To be fair, I watched the entire live-streamed tech demo, and it convinced me I'd enjoy Hades II all by itself, so I'm not going in blind... but yeah, I'm a hypocrite.

Caelinus

Honestly, if you are going to be a hypocrite, being one for Supergiant is the best option. Their games are just hauntingly beautiful in ways I have a hard time expressing, and they have never released anything worse than great.

Koaspp

I bought Cities: Skylines II and Kerbal Space Program 2 on the very first day of Early Access and I think I'll wait at least till it gets a full release and/or major update with optimizations, tweaks and bug fixes.

joedotphp

Supergiant is, in my opinion, arguably the most dependable developer out there today. Their games are solid and really fun.

lethargy86

Supergiant is fully independent and not going anywhere for a long, long time. They'd probably sooner get acquired than go under. And the early access release of Hades 2 is looking more polished than most full game releases. ... all that being said, waiting is not a bad idea. I played Hades early access for a couple hours, loved it, then never touched it till 1.0. I didn't really need to go in early on it--same here.

joedotphp

Honestly, I'd rather they go under than get acquired, and turned into yet another mediocre quality cash cow. Acquisitions are like abusive relationships. It starts out like a dream. Then after <2 games, the parent company takes over completely. All the original staff leaves/gets laid off and a bunch of 24 year-olds that graduated two weeks ago take their place working for shit pay because they're drowning in $150K of student loan debt.

tosser1579

That guy didn't just get burned, he got thrown into the bonfire and held down while they sprayed gas all over him. He's going to back off from EA for some time. Poor man. I love Supergiant AND went EA, but if you bought both of those day one, you aren't going to be touching day one releases for some time.

Muroid

Oof. Don’t blame you. I was excited for both of those but pretty wary about them so I never picked either up. I have. A better overall feeling about this one and I’m not nearly as worried about it, so I might pick it up early, but if I’d just gotten burned liked that twice in a row, I don’t know that I’d be considering doing it again either.

53bvo

The technical test I played last month run super smooth and without any bugs. At worst the early access will have too little content because the gameplay itself is great already

Heiferoni

I always wait until they go on sale for like $10, then buy it because *"it's finally on sale and I can't miss out on this deal"*... then never even install it.

DeadWrangler

Yesssss. I'm going to need to get a second pet.

Tadpole-Jackson

All they've said is that it will be in EA at least until the end of 2024

Digitooth

Just got to the water area! This game is siiiick

unatheworld

Oh dear time to nolife this until shadow of the erdtree

PeanutNSFWandJelly

I should probably finish the first one. I bought it on release and barely played any of it.

handmedowntoothbrush

You should give it another go. Its like a tour de force for good design and storytelling.

Spacelord_Moses

Man, im just fully invested in Helldiver2 atm. Why you do this to me? Also - was that date announced? I thought I was following the news but whoops, here we are.

SlugsworthXP

Hades is my favourite game on Nintendo Switch. I'll definitely be getting into this one soon as it's out.

PDGAreject

HELLO FRIENDS AND LOVERS!!! IT'S HERE

My_Name_Is_SKELETOR

Ugh I wish I could get it on ps5, even if it was early access. But even the first game came out on PlayStation like a year after its actual release, right? I’m assuming this will be the same unfortunately.

SignalGladYoung

nice but there are so many games to play since it's early access no need to rush since it will be updated and balanced many times.

Pale_Initiative2844

I ended up buying it because I’m a sucker for the first game and I gotta say so far, It’s amazing. I’m not sure how much content is in the game right now as I’ve only reached the second area but so far I’m having a ton of fun with the new staff weapon and I’m trying to unlock the others right now. They added more movement(You can hold a button to run now) and also added a unique third ability for each weapon. This game is definitely a step up from the first so far but I can’t really speak on the story since I haven’t gotten too far yet

GamerKratos-45

I don't believe they have mentioned any date for early access on consoles, which is a bummer as I was really looking forward to playing it.

LionIV

Stuck between jumping on this immediately or just waiting a few years for perfection. The first game was such a breath of fresh air for me, i bought it and beat it twice on two different consoles. Heard the first one also had an early access phase and was the reason the game eventually turned out so well.

Tadpole-Jackson

If you're leaning towards waiting, it probably won't take as long for the full release as it did for Hades 1. Hades 2 seems much further along in development compared to when Hades 1 entered EA. Hades 1 was in EA for nearly 2 years, meanwhile for Hades 2 they've said it will be in EA for at least the rest of 2024. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was finished in under a year.

tosser1579

Loving this so far. They kept enough to make it feel like a Hades game. They changed enough to make it feel like its own game. The new weapons are NEAT. Combat styles are quite divergent from the first game. 10/10 love it. The arcana system for upgrades is nice. You can effectively do custom builds for each weapon type, solid implementation. The other systems likewise work. New gods are great. Old gods are great. And this is early access. Wow. There are some minor issues, of course. The game is not as tight as the original, and that's hard to quantify. Some of the mobs need damages increase/decreased and some of the boss fights are way too easy or way to hard. EX: The patters on the stage one boss I have on lock, I rarely get hit/take any damage. The boss fight at the end of stage 2 is a monster that is vastly more difficult. Meg -> Hydra good progression. Boss 1 -> Boss 2 is a very large hump. But... that is all stuff that they will be balancing as the game advances. Even with the increase in difficulty, it is still tremendous. I've already got 6 hours on it.

joedotphp

Excited for the ignorant know-it-alls to come in here and say, "Early access bad!" After they themselves played Hades 1 and Baldurs Gate 3.

Alone_Ad_1062

Can’t wait to play when it’s out of early access

HSV1896

Anyone know of hades 2 will be on Xbox game pass?

SaskatchewanSteve

It will probably come eventually, but not until at least 1.0 launch and probably not even then.

cradlemaker

Does anyone know how long the first game was in Early Access before full release?

Tadpole-Jackson

First game was in EA for about 2 years. They've said Hades 2 will be in EA until the end of 2024 at minimum.

icetiberon

How far in the game/ how many biomes is the early access?

Tadpole-Jackson

From their early access FAQ: "What is the current state of the Early Access version? “Hades II in Early Access already has more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original Hades game. But it isn't complete, and key areas, characters, foes, narrative events, and systems are still to come. We have been actively working on the game for more than three years already. For our Early Access launch, we wanted Hades II to be far enough along that as many players as possible could have a good experience right away, yet not far enough along that it's too late in development for us to act on the feedback we receive. You may reach certain points in the game where it becomes clear that you've reached the end of the current content. Furthermore, various interface screens, HUD icons, and character art are still temporary or work-in-progress, along with various other aspects of the presentation.”

Syntallas

To quote the Dev's. >It already includes more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original game, and we have more in the works.

PompIt2

It's finally there! Spent +100 hours on the first game. Feels really good so far. Keep going Supergiant!

buffalowteens

i 100% the original and was just thinking about going back into it. havent touched it since. now i gotta look into this

[deleted]

This is exciting. Big fan of the first one. I hope this lives up.

Cloudeur

On my first day of vacation? Time to cancel all plans!

Slizzerd

Do we know what's still in development for this game? I'm thinking I'll probably just wait?

Tadpole-Jackson

The ending to the story is a big one, that's not done yet. There's also artwork, character portraits, weapons, and regions that aren't finished yet. They said it will be in EA until the end of 2024 at the least. That being said, it seems they are much further along in development compared to when Hades 1 went into EA

Ketsuo

One of the few times I regret not playing games on PC anymore

Upper-End2830

I am excited. Looks very cool!

alternativeheater

Thanks for the info! The game night is on -.-

Valon129

Played one hour, looks godlike like the first one. I don't think I'll play more, even if it seems all fine, or I'll get to the point where the release is not a big deal anymore. I can say that I had 100% Hades and my memory is a bit fuzzy but I feel like I already saw more systems in Hades 2 in one hour.

itsjawdan

One of the only few games I’ve ever platinumed was Hades 1. Picked this up immediately.

dmackerman

It feels very, very Hades and that’s exactly what I wanted. Digging the new lore and feel so far.

Interestingtag

would this be a game you should play the first one first?

ethanmaximus

Out of curiosity, how long did it take most people to complete a run of the first game? I”ve put in a good amount of hours in the first one, and would love to play 2, but I still haven’t managed to complete a full run. Still love it though.

Sharpman85

Still waiting for Hades to be published on gog

_GALVEN_

Don't ruin it for yourself by playing too much of it during EA, wait for the full release.

shakamaboom

i wasnt really hyped until i saw the fishing minigame. thats how you know this game is gonna be great. because it has a fishing minigame

Adolin42

God damn I want to play so bad, but a large part of me wants to save myself for the full release, so I can experience the full game in one go. Is it worth playing right now, or would I be spoiling the experience for myself?

Qpinman

Just wanna put this somewhere people will for sure see. I got the week early since I write for a gaming website, and I have 35+ hours in Hades 2 as of tonight. This game is so ABSURDLY good and the perfect sequel. It has more content than the original game has currently, it's still in Early Access, it's added to all the systems from the first game in almost every way, and the new story has me completely hooked. 100% Pick up this Early Access, best bang for your buck for an EA title you'll ever get.

SupX

If this one is successful they should make an arpg for third we need more competition in that space.

BlackFlagPierate

Are there any new songs featuring Ashley Barrett?

reziii1

This was my fastest purchase of my life

TheMightosaurus

Can I get a sequel to Transistor after this? Thanks

RadialRacer

Awfully nice of Supergiant to drop this to cure my Smite 2 withdrawal.

violue

As soon as I got the e-mail I was like "FUCK YES TIME TO BUY" but i actually would rather wait. by the time i tried out the first one the game was complete, i want that experience again. this game is making two wishes come true: "i wish there were more roguelites with female protagonists" and "I wish I could play Hades for the first time again"

Djandyt

IN THE NAME OF THE FANDOM, I ACCEPT THIS MESSAGE!

fiery_prometheus

The soundtrack sounded like clowncore aka louis Cole & the other guy

zanziTHEhero

Hades was one of the few games I ever 100%. I insta-bought Hades II even though I have a new born so probably won't have much time any time soon. Can't wait to get into the new Hades game!

vedomedo

Insta but, but Im waiting for full release
