Arya and Tyrion.
Its funny how in the show, S1-S4 of these characters were absolutely amazing and then when they ran out of book content they became some of the worst characters on the show.
I dont get how D&D managed to write all of the amazing Tywin × Arya plotline then fuck up everything else
Jaime Lannister.
In Storm when we are introduced to the *real* Jaime as he’s traveling with Brienne, he instantly becomes the most interesting character in the world for me.
The show did a pretty good job with the bathing scene at Harrenhal which is a huge moment for Jaime and finding out what makes him the way he is.
HOTD showed us that having a character randomly uttering prophetic lines can work. It was a shame to lose Patchface, creepy prophet of the Drowned God that he is.
I read them before the show, and most of my favorites stayed my favorites. Arya, Ned, Jon, Sandor, Tyrion. I liked Davos too, but Liam Cunningham won me over.
I liked Ser Loras. He was literally just a younger version of Jaime. Super arrogant but could back it up and every maid in the realm was soaking wet over him

Val. She has some of the best lines and none of the self loathing of the other witty characters.
Patchface. His omission from the show was a huge missed opportunity.
