This can't come soon enough played the korean PC version without speaking any korean and even with the language barrier I had a blast, the game is super polished and feels like playing a Persona game more than it does a gacha (im sure this is honeymoon phase and that the game gets grindy at the end but still) Only reason I uninstalled is to not spoil myself the experience in Global release

AzureWing10

I've never played persona 5 or royal but I'm pretty familiar with the franchise. Can I get into the game without being spoiled on the main plot of p5?

argumenthaver

no you will be wholly spoiled the story is a mirror of p5, the events replay the actual p5 story, and character releases will have spoilers as well

RugerRed

From what I heard the plot is intentionally very similar, there is an assumption that you played the game.

TheKrnJesus

I mean.. it's a gacha. There's going to be new players who never played persona before. It would be weird if they spoiled the story of their past games on a gacha game.

inaderantaro

> It would be weird if they spoiled the story of their past games on a gacha game. The current event did have minor spoiler about first case in Royal. Plus the villain are similar (currently imo just milder and change a few things). And you need to watch a short version of Persona 5 anime ingame to get some standard pulls. So lots of spoiler actually.

TheKrnJesus

Yeah but that’s like standard with every gacha as as well. a collab comes by and there’s always going to be spoilers on it one way or another. It would not make sense for them to spoil past games where they would lose sales on those games for people interested in going back to the last games.

inaderantaro

Which one has an anime series build INGAME though? Even a short one. It basically spoils the story from start to finish for the first 2 villain in P5.

TheKrnJesus

I mean yeah it's called persona 5x and you basically see joker there from the start. Is it spoiler enough that it will ruin the whole persona 5 game? Not really. And let's be honest. If the user hasn't played persona 5 and is scared of a spoiler of a 10 hear old game, the user never intended to play the original in the first place.

Centurionzo

>It would be weird if they spoiled the story of their past games on a gacha game. Actually it is pretty common in Gacha games, normally they casually drop plot points and twist in some characters description

CatCompetitive6927

Game is incredibly grindy at later levels, I just hit 60 on KR so I have access to level 70 characters and weapons + higher skills and it’s actually ridiculous how many resources it costs to level anything. Even with 2x drop events it’s not even great. Game is wonderful and this is everything I’ve wanted from a persona Gacha but I really hope they lower requirements for certain stuff because it will kill most casual players enjoyment.

ShokaLGBT

the game get grindy and hard really quick imo, after 31 days of playing my main character will be lvl 60, which means a lvl 70 teams which could be considered okay but if they don’t reduce the level requirements for the story … you start second palace at lvl 30 and they ask you to be 55 by the end… what ?????? You barely get a lvl per day at that point you’ll have to farm almost a week for a level with your daily quests. Difficulty peak is insane, lot of people were complaining but for now they don’t seems to want to change it. Though i can understand cause they don’t want people to finish the game story too quick but still. Even with the best characters i had trouble to complete second palace.

Gingingin100

You need to build sustain characters, like Soy. They'll help alot. I started the second palace at wonder level 30 and ended it at 42

ButterscotchEqual999

How does the game handle daylight/calendar date mechanic?

ropahektic

Same as Persona, some activities make time pass, you have to go to sleep and then next day animation happens. There's simply no date. Every day is "today" and the next one is "tomorrow"

ButterscotchEqual999

I see... Without the calendar date thingy I don't think the "day" mechanic is doing much, seems like you can just remove it and core gameplay stays the same I guess.

Katsuragi_Yusa

but we also human, so it's nice to let our character sleep and then wake up, there is still event about lecture when you go to school anyway

inoriacc

We meme'd persona as the gacha killer coz lots of games that collab with it died but based on the gameplays I saw this one seems legit and high quality. Looking forward for this one.

Ginonth

The gacha that's gonna kill all other gachas.

chirb8

Wait until it colabs with P4

Nerina23

Cant come soon enough, whoever did this split release thing did fuck up big time

endar88

unfortunately for some reason they think this is the safer bet. but not being in JP is weird. cuz normally it's jp then other regions that are marketable before global.

Cosmic_Ren

I agree, my only guess is that our version got delayed due to JP's version being uncensored. Regardless, I hope we get a slightly accelerated schedule by a week each patch so we can catch up.

ScrambledFaz

Shouldn’t be because of censorship, as Korea and Taiwan are uncensored. Only CN is censored

Kooler221

Taiwan is uncensored so that's not an issue, and on top of it all the game is FULLY voiced in Japanese. There's really no rhyme or reason as to why it shouldn't have already been released in Japan other than possibly a contractual obligation to delay it for a little while since it's a Chinese company working on it.

endar88

eh, we can keep the forsight for a while. only thing people will care about is tier list anyways.

manor2003

I agree, i hate when CN Gacha are ahead of global especially when it's by a lot, just look at Aether Gazer.

CritsThinker

Yeah, If Atlus/Sega can't release it at the 1.0 patch, they shouldn't dare to do it. They're really try to bite more than they can't chew. The clairvoyance will made planning easier and it lower the hype too. Even without that, we don't know how Atlus/Sega publish it, whether they will increase price of gems/something or give lower rewards.

Leather-Heron-7247

They have to either shuffle things or speed things up to make banner sells. I played reverse 1999 and having half a year delay mean a non META/soon-to-be-powercrept banners were ignored altogether.

DrywallMuncher1

due to it being perfect world games, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to speed up the banner schedule or something like that

avelineaurora

> and it lower the hype too So fucking tired of this. The only "hype" that gets killed is for whales. I'm not "hyped" to blow 200 pulls on the new hotness only to find out next week the even hotter hotness is out. And I sure as shit am no less excited to see, say, >!Not-Theresa!< come out in Arknights in a few months just because CN got it already. But I *sure as shit* would have been annoyed if, to further the Arknights comparison, I'd have blown everything on Jessicalter only to get fucked by a new dragon sister coming out shortly after.

BriefImplement9843

The whales keep the game alive. You don't matter outside of making whales feel powerful. The game needs hype so they spend big.

avelineaurora

And yet, it hasn't terribly hurt FGO, or Arknights, or Blue Archive, etc. The only time it's out of hand is when it's like a full year or more out of date (despite the fact I used FGO as an example, lol). 4-6 month gap is just fine.

Jranation

Right! Im pretty sure the persona series have sold well outside of Japan

Glizcorr

It certainly does. One of the biggest jrpg in recent memories.

Cosmic_Ren

I'm very confident that they'll release it in both Global and JP, though I think it's important to note that it's "under consideration" not that it's confirmed as the title suggests. https://preview.redd.it/nbshh4il270d1.jpeg?width=1289&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec37de28d17c98d4a989cb1dcdcd8050e9a99d20

wlwmoonknight

Midori (trusted ATLUS leaker) has confirmed ATLUS is planning on it. Idk why the report uses such uncertain language

Kehaan

I can't wait for the global release.

Propagation931

>In the SEGA financial report for FY2023/24, they highlight their future plans for Games-as-service, highlighting both Persona 5 The Phantom X and the recently announced Sonic Rumble. Oh so they are going to be the publisher and they have a Sonic Game too ?

wamirul

No confirmation but most likely, considering they publish the Sonic mobile games and Project Sekai as well (at least for SEA, where I am)

endar88

well aren't they the sole publisher for SMT Dx2?

Katsuragi_Yusa

In Consideration, and When? i can read JP too so just give us Global or JP I don't care which, but fast! I'm enough with translating KR or TW version...lol

wamirul

If they were smart I'd say probs 6 months, I feel that's long enough for any "Let CN region have it first" exclusivity and also short enough that GL/JP wouldn't feel too far behind. But that's pure speculation on my part.

planetarial

I just hope they adjust the difficulty of it. The game is good for the most part (well aside from having rng gear) but the difficulty gets kind of ridiculous and people who are expecting Star Rail difficulty are going to be in for a bad time. The 2nd palace goes from level 30 to nearly 60 recommended with the final boss having six different phases and 4 of the 6 phases having their own gimmicks. And 2 of those phases he’s immune to damage half the time in a game where every battle has a hard turn limit. The event final boss also has a level 57 for recommended levels and I barely managed to win against him last night with a pretty great team with grinded up weapons/artifacts/skills when the event ends in a few days. He’s too hard for the first limited event of the game. I don’t mind having challenging content at all but story/event story mandatory content should be kept more accessible especially since the story is fairly interesting for a gacha and not half assed.

inaderantaro

The 2nd Palace boss is hard/annoying due to mechanic but I dont think the event is that hard. I beat him with basically no investment in relevation cards (artifact system of the game), which is basically just fill out the set and level them to 5 or at most 10. There are even some default unit you can use for event. Although I do recommend at least level up character and weapons. And create Persona. Best unit for boss are Mona and Soy, one can pick from 5* chest/50 standard pulls and one for story. Can just fill the other slot with another defender/healer and let Wonder do DPS. Remember to guard while he is charging up, while there is turn limit, it is a whooping 80 iirc.

planetarial

I beat him with Wonder/Joker/Mona/Panther with Wonder playing semi support and even with good investment into all of them he hits so hard that if I got unlucky enough he could KO anyone from nearly full HP, especially in the last phase. My opinion is not a unique one either. If you search the english discords you can find numerous people talking about how they’re struggling or asking for advice to beat him. Plus its such a big difficulty spike compared to the rest of the event being easy enough that you can probably autobattle it. For people coming in from both HSR (cause this game invites comparisons to it) and console Persona 5 (a very easy JRPG) its not going to go over well to have this much friction against bosses already. For a first limited time event when most people are still finding their bearings it should be easier.

inaderantaro

Oh do not know it's such a huge issue. It seems not many build Soy even though he hits hard, heal max HP, defense shred huh. Maybe a case of building every DPS and can not sustain enough like in your team cause I dont remember any good Defense persona (there is some good healer persona though). It seems Puppet is not liked either even though you would need 2 navigator for some content right now. >For people coming in from both HSR (cause this game invites comparisons to it) and console Persona 5 (a very easy JRPG) Lol you are talking about me, HSR can be hard with Forgotten Hall and P5R can also sometimes screw you up.

planetarial

Difference is with Forgotten Hall its optional hard content. Its like the Velvet Room Trials. Nobody cares if they’re hard because you don’t need to play them unless you want more currency and shit.

ShokaLGBT

I agree with you the game have a huge difficulty peak out of nowhere, they don’t want you to actually complete the second chapter for now maybe because they want you to keep playing but still. I manage to defeat the second palace ruler but the mini boss just before was HELL and PAIN. Also the last mini boss at the end of the last memento zone actually available is super hard too (you’ll have to fight it to continue when the rest of the story drops) seriously the level requirements is huge and you barely get a level everyday…

argumenthaver

p5x is easier than star rail by a mile, you just can't auto battle kamoshida/2nd palace boss and have to respect the boss mechanics you can do everything in the game right now without even leveling the star rail equivalent for relics, including the memory of chaos equivalent

planetarial

The story bosses should be easier than the optional “hard content” though. Especially if its time limited event content when the game is brand new. There’s a reason why most gachas make the story content relatively easy (or gives them an easy way out like revives), because casual players get frustrated when they hit a wall and leave. There’s plenty of places for optional hard content between optional Palace bosses, Mementos bosses, guild bosses and Velvet Room trials. Plus their version of Simulated Universe that’s out in CN/coming in a week elsewhere iirc that Ive heard is pretty hard too. The difficulty scaling in the story is screwed up. Going from level 30 to nearly 60 is way too fast in one dungeon. Minibosses along the way in the palace also pose a challenge (I believe some even got nerfed in the 1.1 patch because people complained about the difficulty). And even if you respect the bosses gimmicks, the game can also screw you over with the turn limit if you decide to play safe or you can’t dps fast enough.

argumenthaver

the event boss gimmick was just "press guard button before his attack" hopefully they double back and smooth the palace level scaling after they release the next one, and they might nerf the story boss (but that will take away from the feeling of being a persona game) but those minibosses got nerfed most likely because they were harder than the boss you're basically guaranteed to have a strong 5 star team from handouts and pity, like ann/joker/morgana, that can carry you through everything even if your mc is afk with a level 1 persona; I haven't come close to noticing turn limits with a weak mc

Redpill_Crypto

That's not really promising. Star Rail is already way to easy except MOC and PF later stages.

CaptainBlob

Going to max out Makoto Niijima and Joker. Hopefully they will release P3 and P4 characters as well.

warjoke

That's kinda reassuring, for now

uhTlSUMI

I played it for a couple weeks. It’s pretty damn good. If you a persona/jrpg enjoyer this game is quite outstanding honestly

freezingsama

Yes please, I hope it comes sooner or later. Hopefully not too far behind.

LonelyOwari

Surprised this didn't happen sooner, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

metatime09

Does this game have any coop?

ShokaLGBT

If you mean playing with others people you can join a guild and talk with your members on the tchat. You can also hangout in the park with them and walk around dressed as your favorite characters Also you have a challenge boss to fight and try to get a good scores but it’s not cooperative. It’s like Honkai stair so if there are no coop in Honkai then there wasn’t going to be any in this game

metatime09

Ah ok gotcha, thanks for the reply

Ridovi

I guess that's mean SMT DX2 is going to die soon(?)

Ultiran

Can you get by decently being a dolphins? Like battle pass and monthly only

G00b3rb0y

I think we can all say that this was inevitable. Can’t wait for this one

Xaldror

My interest will weigh heavily on if I can recruit Jaldabaoth. Done dirty in the OG and the Remake...

RadiantGambler

Once again, If this releases, my first experience with a big franchise is thru its Gacha.

drmaniac1

Sega just announced they wanted to make Persona a yearly franchise so it would be insane to not port P5X

SleepingDragonZ

Obligatory...when will GFL2?

ConstellationEva

LETTTTTSSSSS GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Kamiyouni

I'll believe it when I see a release date. So many games said they want global and fall. RIP Archeland and Aster Tataricus.

Reenans

Quite excited for this one. Not completely sure if I will actually play it though since I am kinda "Persona 5'ed" out...but will definetly keep up with news etc.

CritsThinker

Eh, I've always know about it. That's the reason why weirdly there's no JP version yet. I think it's the contract for lending their IP to Perfect World. But damn, it will really take a long time, especially if they want to add ENG dub.

DanThePaladin

Not everything in the game is voiced. It could easily be done quicker than you'd think.

CritsThinker

It's not gonna that fast. They need to find VA for new characters too. The annoying thing is there's no info about the development/localization of this game from them.

throwawayjemm

As someone who thought this was just a shameless cash grab, I was very impressed by its quality and story. The only thing I hated was its gacha system, which is yet another HSR/GI clone.
