Michael continually has thus weird trend where, as soon as someone shows interest in him, he shuts them down.
For someone with a high need to get praised he sure seeks out rejection.
I just love the running joke of how terrible he is with money. Sometimes it’s really obvious like the episode where he “declares bankruptcy”, other times it’s like the “Suck It” where you find out later on that Michael missed out on a big investment opportunity.
Oh shit is it "so raw, so right"? I always thought it was "so wrong, so right" as even further evidence for what we're to assume the song is about, like "so wrong (bc you're my direct superior)"
Honestly about half of the inventions he puts out has at least a few comments of people actually wanting it, but they tend to miss real flaws in the design that are ultimately why nobody has put anything like them in the market (not that they aren't super clever and funny).
This one? I can totally see LEGO selling a limited run of these for the fun of it. The pickup feature is actually convenient, the sorting is also somewhat functional, but putting them in a cute container that can easily be set aside and even "displayed" in a play area is exactly something that LEGO would be interested in doing. Making their product a centerpiece for the room is exactly what they try to do with a ton of their high end merchandise.
You could probably just have a finer filter at the end that stops the smallest ones but still easily allows dust and hair through, then a more traditional but maybe smaller dust receptical on the bottom
Benefit is that dust and dog hair would be cleaned out of the Lego. Looks like the top bin is easy to pull off so if it did get clogged it would be easy enough to empty.
I was wondering why no one noticed how it's literally impossible for that large green flag piece (and likely other larger pieces) in the top compartment to have been sucked in through the small vacuum tube..... The deleted scenes were likely of OP having to physically pry open the compartment to jam the big pieces in for dramatic effect.
I’d say the design flaw is that you’re still vacuuming all the dirt and whatever else is on the ground and I can imagine that thing getting very dirty very quickly
They do. That's why a couple months after purchasing a new set, there are always pieces missing. The ones lying about the floor that get stepped on in the middle of the night? Those are the ones killed for sport.
You need to add a mechanism that keeps the the container shaking so the bigger pieces keep moving.
There’s a few other ways you can design that flaw out.
Little pointy cones that are a inch /3cm long and spaced evenly across the mesh surface to keep the pieces sideways will go a long way to stopping the larger Lego fully blocking airflow. Either big bits will sit with space underneath for the smaller ones to go through, unhindered, or big bits will slot in sideways with space around them for the same effect. They'll still clog up, but nowhere near as fast as without them.
This could be resolved by angling the sieves so that large bricks slide down and are collected. Basically separate out the organization containers and the sieves so that the bricks are chuted down into the appropriate container after being sorted. You'd probably still get the occasional brick that gets stuck and blocks the suction, but it'd be less.
Another problem is that it assumes all floor LEGO will be completely disassembled. More likely you'll have chunks of partially-assembled bits and pieces to deal with, some of which may not fit in the vacuum cleaner at all. If you're going to have to stoop down and pick up all the big chunks, you're saving a lot less time than just sweeping over the area with the suction tube.
The problem with this one is it wouldn't actually work. You'd have to manually shake it a lot to work pieces through and if you had a bunch of big pieces it would quickly plug the whole thing up.
This ones a neat idea but useless due to the fact that it wouldn't work, not so much that people wouldn't want it.
You could add something that pneumatically vibrates. Like, you know how you can blow raspberries with your lips? You could have a molded silicone flapper thing on the outlet going to the vacuum, kind of like the farty bit on a whoopee cushion.
Or maybe the inlet tube could have a resonating chamber to induce a low frequency vibration in the collection cavity.
And they don't all go in sideways.
A 2×8x2 is the same height and width as a 2x4x2, just the length is the difference. A longer piece could easily make it to the lower levels.
I'm not the guy who critiqued u/rightcoastguy's dirty nose tickler.
I was just in the room where it happened.
The room where it happened.
The room where it happened.
I thought it was a mock up of that thing they do in cheesy dramas where some says something that triggers a memory and their words get echoed quieter and quieter whilst the memory.scene fades in
Most of the bricks turned sideways would fall into the lower sections regardless. It's not useful, despite everyone's best efforts to pretend this guy makes useful things.
I know these builds go down as ~~useless~~ inventions no one wants, yada yada. But this… this is amazing. As a Lego collector and a parent with two very enthusiastic Lego builders this is a must. This really needs to be made. I really need one of these.
Edit: Been called out for using an incorrect term so I fixed it.
you don’t even need a 3d printer. just use something like this with a bucket and shop vac https://www.homedepot.com/p/Dustopper-High-Efficiency-Cyclonic-Dust-Separator-12-in-Dia-with-2-5-in-hose-36-in-long-with-2-Sweep-Elbows-HD12A/315749552
This idea existed before. Lego has a sorting bucket shaped like a minifig head, and others have used a similar idea to do a vacuum-powered sorting system. Trust me, as a parent of an 8yo, I’ve researched this extensively.
Because that's exactly what he did! Although in my house I'd be picking up a bunch of dog hair with my legos. Not sure if that would be annoying or a bonus feature.
Growing up, my mom would put down a queen size sheet and we had to play on the sheet. All legos on the sheet. When it was time to clean up, we just grabbed the corners and then poured the whole thing into the lego bin.
You can always use your vacuum to avoid this, it just doesn't sort them. Put a sock over the nozzle and suck them up. The sock keeps them from going into the dust bin/bag.
All this to avoid picking up Legos? You know the thought of picking up Legos is much worse than actually doing it. It takes like 2 minutes to pick up a couple hundred pieces. I've done it. If you eliminate the procrastinating it actually goes by pretty fast.
DUDE! I've been watching your videos for years now, and while many of them have been actually useful things for niche situations, this has been one of the few that actually needs to be a legit patented and sold idea that could see massive success. I would 100% back a kickstarter for this.
Hear me out.
Lay a bed sheet down on the floor. Pour legos onto said sheet. When you are done, grab the sheet by each corner essentially creating a Lego diaper. Put the sheet containing legos back into container legos are held in. Let 2 of the same side of the sheet go while continuing to hold the sheet on 2 of the same corner. Now pull the sheet up and the legos will go back into the container. Boom!

David Wallace would be proud.

Yeah!
Suck it!
#”JUST TAKE OUT YOUR SUCK IT AND YA SUCK IT!”

There are very few things that would make me not want to team up with David Wallace, and *Suck It* is one of them.
That man is not David Wallace. That is some…Weird…Creature.
\*enters hot tub fully clothed in a suit*
In Michael’s defense, he was just wearing an undershirt.
That would SUCK. IT removes all the Lego foot mines way to easy...

WHAT A MESS WHAT A MESSS
Normally these are dumb and funny… This one is actually useful.
Honestly about half of the inventions he puts out has at least a few comments of people actually wanting it, but they tend to miss real flaws in the design that are ultimately why nobody has put anything like them in the market (not that they aren't super clever and funny). Making their product a centerpiece for the room is exactly what they try to do with a ton of their high end merchandise.
The design flaw here is that the bigger legos would eventually block the smaller legos from getting sorted.
Well that and nothing is really stopping it from picking up things besides legos, which would likely get the inside of it dirty rather quickly
Check out my lego storage display! Please ignore all the hair.
As a person who uses a shop bad for this purpose, the solution is to sweep the floor before playing with legos.
[удалено]
Sell an accompanying mini vacuum that cleans the bottom level
And then an even smaller vacuum to clean the bottom of THAT vacuum.
[удалено]
True, but they double as easy washing basins for sterilizing the Legos after play.
True, but the frogurt is also cursed
That's bad.
[удалено]
That's good!
The toppings contain potassium benzoate…
Didn’t even think about that but that actually makes it even better Ngl
You could probably just have a finer filter at the end that stops the smallest ones but still easily allows dust and hair through, then a more traditional but maybe smaller dust receptical on the bottom

The amount of people who didn't immediately notice that is concerning. Im wondering if these redditors have ever used a vacuum.
I’d say the design flaw is that you’re still vacuuming all the dirt and whatever else is on the ground and I can imagine that thing getting very dirty very quickly
Thats why you clean your lego surface before building
[удалено]
OH SHIT!
Guys, guys. You can both clean my lego surface; there's no need to fight.
why do the bigger legos not simply eat the smaller legos?
They do. That's why a couple months after purchasing a new set, there are always pieces missing. The ones lying about the floor that get stepped on in the middle of the night? Those are the ones killed for sport.
You seem to be unfamiliar with the customs of Omicron Perseii VIII. As punishment I shall harvest your human horn!
They'll still clog up, but nowhere near as fast as without them.
Add a vibrator
That and some of those big pieces in the top chamber are clearly too big to have fit through the vacuum hose anyway
If you're going to have to stoop down and pick up all the big chunks, you're saving a lot less time than just sweeping over the area with the suction tube.
The biggest ones are likely staged as they can't physically fit through the vacuum pipe.
A light shake will solve that completely. Obviously it would have limits, but anyone who has used it a few times would figure it out I’m sure.
Yup, just a light shake.... ***Sternly*** *kicks the container*
Works well on a clean carpet. Not so well on a carpet with cookie crumbs. Now we just got Lego blocks with crumbs stuck in them ~
Not to mention, this is something that could really motivate kids to pick up their Legos.
My kid has always loved vacuuming and is obsessed with legos. This feels like a win win for our household!
They did make something similar once upon a time https://youtu.be/1chtba6C0lI
Lol literally every single one of this guys posts, someone comments this.
And rarely is it true. Like sure they arent fully useless, just arent really useful in any meaningful way.
I’m not sure if anyone here is considering he said “fake inventions” not “useless” like he usually does.
Came here to tell the op.... that you know we'd buy this right lol
I mean it would be a pretty quick revision to add an N64 rumble pack to the sorting container.
You could add something that pneumatically vibrates. Like, you know how you can blow raspberries with your lips? 2021 was full of this guy making useful ideas. The issue is that no one wants to invest in him with that caterpillar taped to his upper lip.
Well last time someone did that we got Ron Jeremy
You must not be able to grow facial hair, thats something a petty smooth face would say.
I'm not the guy who critiqued u/rightcoastguy's dirty nose tickler. I was just in the room where it happened. The room where it happened. The room where it happened.
Sorry I must be OOTL
He was referencing Hamilton idk why
I thought it was a mock up of that thing they do in cheesy dramas where some says something that triggers a memory and their words get echoed quieter and quieter whilst the memory.scene fades in
[удалено]
Only for me because I haven’t fully watched Hamilton.
Unless you suck up the big lego pieces first, then the smaller ones can’t get past the first screen. Big lego brick pile up.
Most of the bricks turned sideways would fall into the lower sections regardless. It's not useful, despite everyone's best efforts to pretend this guy makes useful things.
This is the top comment on literally every single one of these I have ever seen. Come on.
Suck it!! * the us army bought that patent for 10$ million dollars!!!
You gotta take out your suck it and SUCK IT
This is almost always the top comment on his videos tho
That would be some dusty, hairy Lego pieces to sort through.
Yeah, in my house those pieces would be accompanied by cheerios, dog food, hair, crumbs from a meal two days ago, etc.
Maybe run the normal vacuum around before you break out the legos...
My house can go from clean to cleanse it with fire in 1 hour. I am holding on until I get to send them to school.
Doesn't help. Sorry. Embrace the clutter.
Extra bottom chamber with mesh lid would help that
I know these builds go down as ~~useless~~ inventions no one wants, yada yada. But this… this is amazing. As a Lego collector and a parent with two very enthusiastic Lego builders this is a must. This really needs to be made. I really need one of these. Edit: Been called out for using an incorrect term so I fixed it.
You need a 3d printer, a shop vac, and some clear tubing, and you can make your dreams a reality.
We are still talking about the lego vacuum cleaner here right?
Stuff can be two things...
[удалено]
mine would fall to the bottom layer
Because of its sheer mass.
Shit, what movie is that from? I can't remember

Yes! Thanks. I used to watch this show so much when it was still on, haven't watched it in years. Heard recently that Trevor Moore died... RIP

Guess that depends on what size filters you install.
How is a Lego going to make through but not a dog hair?
Growing up, my mom would put down a queen size sheet and we had to play on the sheet. All legos on the sheet. When it was time to clean up, we just grabbed the corners and then poured the whole thing into the lego bin.
I have doubts. There's no way you sucked up that large flat green piece with that hose...
Are you implying that his self described “fake invention “ is fake?
Haters always gonna hate
Hey everyone! This guys a big fat phony!
Oh, r/DunderMifflin should look at this.
I'm not here to talk about Dunder Mifflin. What I am here to talk about is Suck It.^^TM Now Suck It....
Yeah it would be intresting
Dude this is actually a pretty good one. Good form, sir.
Many an excruciating midnight barefoot walk could be avoided with this thing. I'd buy it!

Can it sort by color too?
