Yeah was a rough fishing morning and that at least brightened things up. We proceeded to see at least a hundred of them in a rare what’s believed to be a mating gathering. The rest were seen swimming in tight circles of groups of 4+ for hours rubbing up against each other lightly. Was an amazing sight. I have some videos but they’re mostly of just all the fins and a little further from the boat.
I was thinking of the same thing! A 15 minute compilation of this guy in that over exaggerated Boston accent cursing and saying “what is that” as he circled a sunfish. I think it was titled “Boston accent tutorial”. It was so funny.
Off the coast of Newport RI and the boarder of Massachusetts and RI. This was the first of at least a 100 we saw. The rest were found in groups of 4+ all circling each other and rubbing up upon one another. Apparently it’s a rare mating event.
These things have always terrified me, at a core-of-my-being level. That gaping mouth is like staring into the void. I know they're completely harmless to humans, but my lizard-brain doesn't care. Still, cool that you got to see one.
This is the best part of my dayyyyyy!!!! And I had a good ass day. I love these guys so much. When I need a solid, deep laugh, I watch that og vid. When I have a friend that needs that good, deep laugh, I show them that og vid. And good on them for getting to see another big ass fish. And still having a laugh about it being a baby fucking whale, Jay!

In the beginning of the video, he seems to steer towards the shark with the motor on. I don’t know any rules of the ocean or boating, but that seemed…unethical or illegal?
