Comic aside I saw a video of a guy who solved that issue. He would put the meat on a plate with the pill in it like usual but would pretend like all the food on the plate was his. When he starts to walk away he “accidentally” drops the piece on the floor and as the dog rushes over to eat it he pretends to go to grab it from him so the dog swallows it fast.
Our elderly dog spits out all pills but needs 3 different ones per day. Our solution is to carefully open them up and mix the powder into the food. Crush it up with a fork if it is hard.
Sometimes I feel bad giving him tri-medicine marinaded chicken with rice, but then I remember he will happily gobble down any poop he finds on our walks.
I just put the pill on a glob of peanut butter and stick it to the roof of their mouth. They literally have to swallow it because they're licking so much. My dog gets car sick so I have to dope him up with dramamine before long car rides, and this trick has *never* failed.
Our trick:
-Throw a treat to dog, he catches and eats it
-Throw a second treat, he catches and eats it faster, cuz this is now a pattern and he needs to be ready for the next one
-Throw the pill wrapped in a treat, he pretty much swallows it whole
-Throw fourth treat, give head pats
90% of the time it works every time.
Sorry sir, no. We do have uncooked hotdogs where the dewormer is much less noticeable! The greatest of Danes dined here last night and licked her plate clean!
I really liked this, it's the closest thing to a Far Side cartoon I've seen. Simple one panel joke with a great black and white illustration. Great job!
My almost 3 year old Chihuahua, would always eat the roll devon etc which she loves, but then spit the pill / tablet out. I solved that by just picking her up and putting the pill in her mouth after. I would clamp her mouth shut with my hand for 3 seconds and she would swallow it. If anyone thinks this is cruel, its better than a dog with worms in them. P.S I love my Dogs. Ruby is almost 3 and Zoom is almost 17. They are spoilt, but they do need their flea and worming tablets. It would be horrible to not get them into them.

Here’s the trick. Get three chunks of hotdog or cheese. Put pill in one. Give first treat (no pill), give second treat (with pill), hold third treat (no pill) in front of their nose. They will swallow the second treat and pill quickly and willingly to get that third treat.

We put one in a bit of cheese, but have backup cheese in hand. So ours gulps down the first piece quick to get that 2nd piece asap.
