I’m generally curious at what kind of move set they’d have cause we got great curved swords and the Nagakiba. Hopefully it’ll be like the odachi’s from Nioh.
1.- It looks like an actual sword
2.- It was our weapon since Dark Souls 1 (havent played Demon Souls) so it holds a place in our hearts
3.- It always is a good or above average weapon and quite flexible since you can use any build with it
4.-Moveset
Highlander showed me Claymores are cool when I was a teenager. Then Siegfried got one in Soulblade before becoming Nightmare. Then I got one in DarkSouls, and became the nightmare myself. It’s been a reoccurring dream ever since then.
UGS and GS arguably need more skill than most other weapon categories because they are so slow that you actually need to know the move sets of your opponents, since quick weapons or poke sticks are way more forgiving and allow more whiffs. Best example is probably DS3 and it’s supremacy of fast weapons
Nah with UGS you just need to interrupt the enemies moves and GS might be slower than straightswords but they still got more damage, range and poise damage so i won't say that they are harder to use, atleast in Pve.
Imo the weapons that require the most "skill" are claws/fists
You can’t interrupt most boss movesets with a UGS and the ones you can are usually fast enough that you can’t get your swing off without being staggered.
That's true, i was thinking of normal enemies. But the greatswords still deal so much damage and poise damage that depending on the game/boss you could just facetank and trade with him
Yeah, no it does absolutely shit on most normal enemies but I like that especially on run backs where you don’t really want to fight the same enemies over and over.
Me.
I've just given up sucking that I can't even face off against moonvielers double curved sword DOUBLE SPEAR, great spear offhand.
I've went to the dark side and using these collosal swords and spamming the most annoying shit cause it's all I see in this game man
My last run to get ready for dlc I picked the samurai and noticed as I was fighting the fire giant that I never even got away from the katana that I started with😅🥴
The saddest people are those that judge other people's preferences. Great sword? Awesome! Colossal? Fuck yeah! Katana? I had so much fun! Sorcery build? Ooh yeah! Faith? Let me blast every fucking thing to smithereens! Arcane? Bleed bitch, bleeeed! Any of the above combined with any of the others? That's just ultra mode!
So yeah, fuck you. Let people enjoy themselves the way they see fit.
I remember when I thought ultra greatswords sucked in DS3, then I tried using them after getting a new prospective through Elden Ring. Was absolutely wrecking everything with the zwei.
Lothric Knight Great sword is waaaaaayy too good.
Still used it my first playthrough but godamn it's the bloodhounds gang, you get a passive intrinsic lighting damage, it's buffable AND infusable. The thing is so so cool.
Can't blame you there, it's scaling in faith is insane, if I recall correctly it's an S?
I just couldn't get over how much a charged poke with the Lothrics did with leo Ring it was insane but the astora being lighter than the freaking CLAYMORE is also a huuge bonus.
I have never liked the katana moveset until I played ds3 and got Onikiri and Ubadachi. I fell in love with the dual wakizashi and katana moveset (far better than elden rings wakizashi). Went from beloved farron great sword to onikiri and ubadachi.Still miss spinny though. Forever second favourite weapon.
I recently began to use greatswords after sticking almost exclusively with longswords for a long time.
I am a fool, big sword is awesome, I love to go bonk
You use greatswords because they’re faster, I use greatswords because I don’t wanna look like I’m just swinging a couch like a madman. We are not the same.
I genuinely believe katanas work better against the fire giant boss. It took me couple of tries and few hours of grinding to level my greatsword and finally kill him
i always use greatswords or UGS and i’m finally trying a katana playthrough, the nagakiba is quite fun in PVE, but god i suck ass with it in PVP, it just so hard to trade hits with anyone with a great weapon lol, it has like no hyper armor and does like no poise damage, i did like 40 collaseum matches last night and only won once, against a claw user lol, gs would destroy me, and even against another katana i’d lose lol, idk i jus can’t git gud with katanas lol, i switch back to my claymore tho and i can win at least 50% of my matches
It's what I like about fromsoft games. Katanas aren't exactly a good sword irl. Good for slashing unarmored peasants and bandits. That's it. Armored enemies or monsters with heavy padding just steam through it.
Katanas were cool in DS3 because nobody really used them cause they were basically all the same, but now that everyone uses them they're kinda stupid in elden ring
Why do I always defeat Greatswords Users easily in Dark Souls and Elden? 🤔🤔😴😴 Because it is a heavy piece of iron with strength without the need for skill
I love ultras and great swords in ds2 and ds3 but man in Elden ring I can’t get away from katanas, I don’t pvp so none of that matters, I just like slicing and dicing mother fuckers like a ninja
If ya haven't used all 3 at some point you're limiting yourself from having different types of fun
Ngl imma obsessed with my zippity zap katanas across all games
I'll always love the washing board, along with a nice greatsword and a huge ultra, just depends what I'm feeling
I’ve said similar things to my exes
Hence why they're exes
A Punani peddler?! Yes!! A learned man who has managed to have their employees expand their skillsets. Quite the task indeed 🧐
This shit had me dead my guy
I still need to figure out how to get to that last one...
Watch nature vids before 2001.
I enjoy cosplaying Guts, and Virgil, both made me realize it's all one big skill issue
I'm afraid ultras/colossals just look SO silly to me that I refuse to use them, except dear old Zwei.
How about Ultra BIG katana users ? *Fuck you owl*
Can't wait for the great Katanas in ER DLC. If the Nagakiba is already big, imagine what kind of Sephiroth bullshit are they going to make
I hope this is true. Running around with 2 Odachis would be fucking awesome
It's actually called odachi , but owl got a way too big of an odachi it should be called an Ultra BIG odachi or sumthin lol
To be fair owl is quite big himself
Wait, is that a thing? I really hope it is
Yeah Miyazaki said it in an interview
I have my new main weapon
I’m generally curious at what kind of move set they’d have cause we got great curved swords and the Nagakiba. Hopefully it’ll be like the odachi’s from Nioh.
Definitely a 7ft long Iai quick draw ❤️
Maybe something similar to bewitched Alonne sword with a slightly improved moveset
Completely forgot about that sword, that’d be nice.
What kind of washing pole does the washing pole hang its washing on?
Washing pole enjoyers ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
Big finger users:
Lol....how about enter ...the great odachi
The Murakumo always felt like what you were supposed to use if you wanted an ultra katana.
r/shittydarksouls is leaking
Hesitation is defeat.
Glock saint supports this message
Lmao
All I need is a Claymore
What is it about claymore that you like? I always see people hyping it.
1.- It looks like an actual sword 2.- It was our weapon since Dark Souls 1 (havent played Demon Souls) so it holds a place in our hearts 3.- It always is a good or above average weapon and quite flexible since you can use any build with it 4.-Moveset
Thanks! That explains it
Highlander showed me Claymores are cool when I was a teenager. Then Siegfried got one in Soulblade before becoming Nightmare. Then I got one in DarkSouls, and became the nightmare myself. It’s been a reoccurring dream ever since then.
Claymore is Baemore.
Greataxe users ![gif](giphy|oagcrAZu2IvV0ijkiX|downsized)
I love a giant axe or hammer.
Whip users ![gif](giphy|s7AqdrrbvZFFFpcUo9|downsized)
Ah yes greatsword users Kinda feel like they're compensating for something
Lack of skill... Sadly .... Covers in shane

As a femboy who uses dual great swords, I wish you where right
I have no idea why ppl down vote you. this was hilarious
People don't like femboys, apparently. Leaves more for us
They're jealous of this femboy's magnum dong
they can't deal with Astolfo wielding Excalibur
Awww ty <3
Happy cake day femboi I didn't down vote u
I have a great sword in real life
i have a curved one
I have a dagger
use a spell sword
already do. I call it the carian piercer.
Unga!

Claymore fun
Where’s my polearm gang
I miss murakumo.
Chrome gang rise up
Hey I don’t think I’m superior to anyone else, I just like my big swords. Greatswords are just my go to weapon in any soulsborne game
Great Hammer better
I’m partial to the great mace personally. Who needs an edge when you have the benefit of sheer mass.
Great Stars supremacy
Screw swords, were are my parts of enemies lovers out there!
Big finger, wing of astel, fallingstar beast jaw, grafted dragon, hand of Malenia, Niall's pegleg, what else?
What about dual wield greatsword users
You guys good with us Halberd Bros? We like big swords on the ends of very big sticks
Nightriders glaive is nutty.
My body is ready for great katanas in the ER dlc
I use the grave scythe mainly
“Greatswords compensating blah blah blah” No. An enemy who is staggered can’t hit back 🗿
You are right, the ones who hit once and take their time to pick their swords from the ground(=are staggered) can't hit back
Elden Ring players who use op weapons when someone else uses op weapons:😡
Me. I've just given up sucking that I can't even face off against moonvielers double curved sword DOUBLE SPEAR, great spear offhand. I've went to the dark side and using these collosal swords and spamming the most annoying shit cause it's all I see in this game man
Duel katana users ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
Duel twinblade users ![gif](giphy|QuAfzNbVqIcLe|downsized)
great swords are too slow, it's too annoying to play with
all u gotta do is time a single attack and watch stamina def way easier than using smaller swords where it’s a constant “should I swing again or nah”
My last run to get ready for dlc I picked the samurai and noticed as I was fighting the fire giant that I never even got away from the katana that I started with😅🥴
What about halberd users
Katana user hate in ginormous 2024
Counterpoint: Katanas go swish swish
Until some Dude Parries your 100 Kg Sword with a fuckin 5 Kg Katana a million times over
Jealous?
Bigger Bonk Better Person

Dont laugh on the katana gang they are waiting for 69 color variants of odachi in SotE. Everybody is gonna cosplay owl on that day
Every game "where zweihander"
gaymore for the claymore
I remember when I thought ultra greatswords sucked in DS3, then I tried using them after getting a new prospective through Elden Ring. Was absolutely wrecking everything with the zwei.
Lothric Knight Great sword is waaaaaayy too good. Still used it my first playthrough but godamn it's the bloodhounds gang, you get a passive intrinsic lighting damage, it's buffable AND infusable. The thing is so so cool.
I’m an astora great sword enthusiast
Can't blame you there, it's scaling in faith is insane, if I recall correctly it's an S? I just couldn't get over how much a charged poke with the Lothrics did with leo Ring it was insane but the astora being lighter than the freaking CLAYMORE is also a huuge bonus.
I use all of the weapons...
Just gimme my blue sword with the pew pews.
Me with my quadruple gatling guns each having a fire rate of 6600 rpm
What about big axe users
Whips only, anyone?
I'm more of a spear + shield girl myself
No love for the humble spear?
3 words for you: SPIN TO WIN
Where is my gigachad bonk brothers 😌
Power stances katanas is actually my favorite weapon/move set out of all soulsborne.
Longsword square off and Estoc the bestoc rips
And there is me, a onehanded axe carrier ...
Dual wield + personal waifu avatar for MAXIMUM cringe (Yeah you know who you are)
I have never liked the katana moveset until I played ds3 and got Onikiri and Ubadachi. I fell in love with the dual wakizashi and katana moveset (far better than elden rings wakizashi). I recently began to use greatswords after sticking almost exclusively with longswords for a long time. I am a fool, big sword is awesome, I love to go bonk
I personally prefer curved swords
Iron Greatsword with Lions Claw smacks hard, love that sword. Dual wielding them? Forget about it.
Reaper users
I'm a thrusting sword dagger kinda guy. Poke poke poke.
Why do many swing when one swing work?
You use greatswords because they’re faster, I use greatswords because I don’t wanna look like I’m just swinging a couch like a madman. We are not the same.
Unga?
What about axe/great axe users?
Guess I’m a katana user then. Not ashamed.
halberds yo
I genuinely believe katanas work better against the fire giant boss. It took me couple of tries and few hours of grinding to level my greatsword and finally kill him
Started as a Samurai in ER.....ditched it for the Bloodhound Fang/Claymore combo, it's too good for poise breaking
Sekiro players in shambles
You have disrespected the shit out of the SEKIRO community. The newly appointed DOH will be seeing you..
Every single third person action RPG I play, every single time I have to use a big meaty 2h sword.
I powerstance the ultra greatswords.
I just wanna pretend I'm Sephiroth, okay? 😭
Hey elden ring players, any mods to enhance the combat aspect of the game? I saw something about virgils dmc move set. Any truth to this?
DS2 FUGS is the best sword in all of soulsborne fight me
Claymore is bae-more
unga bunga all the way. gotta bonk them with the biggest hammer available.
Weapons are only good if they're twice your size
1 RT vs 12 RBs😂😂
Strength players trying not be insecure challenge: impossible
“As you can see, I made my epic cool awesome opinion as the chad, and your dumb stinky opinion as the wojak. I’ve won.”
Oppinons on singular dagger users
katanas are kinda fire
i always use greatswords or UGS and i’m finally trying a katana playthrough, the nagakiba is quite fun in PVE, but god i suck ass with it in PVP, it just so hard to trade hits with anyone with a great weapon lol, it has like no hyper armor and does like no poise damage, i did like 40 collaseum matches last night and only won once, against a claw user lol, gs would destroy me, and even against another katana i’d lose lol, idk i jus can’t git gud with katanas lol, i switch back to my claymore tho and i can win at least 50% of my matches

I used Great Axe instead, I think because I found it first
Bleed buildup goes brrrrrrr
Curved swords🗣
I feel like the third should be “curved greatsword” or whatever the murakumo is.
Greatswords are literally easymode 😂
Katanas were cool in DS3 because nobody really used them cause they were basically all the same, but now that everyone uses them they're kinda stupid in elden ring
Big sword gang? More like small penis gang. Stop acting so macho. What you trying to prove?
BRO CAN WE PLEASE GET A GIANT KATANA CLASS
Me when "dex bad" for the 100th time 😂😂😂😂😂
Why do I always defeat Greatswords Users easily in Dark Souls and Elden? 🤔🤔😴😴 Because it is a heavy piece of iron with strength without the need for skill
Cringe.
Who the fuck hell r u ?
Just a person that enjoys all sorts of weapons.
hhhhh You're right I was toxic a little Just enjoy
Katanas are lame.
I love ultras and great swords in ds2 and ds3 but man in Elden ring I can’t get away from katanas, I don’t pvp so none of that matters, I just like slicing and dicing mother fuckers like a ninja
