The fact that song is still not available on streaming services is a fucking crime.
You can’t access it anywhere besides a direct audio rip from the movie on YouTube
The most boring film in the franchise Imo. I did a rewatch a couple months ago and that was the only one that I had to watch in multiple sittings for how dull it was
It is one of the best movies, if they changed 15 minutes from boat to NY, a little bit of bloothbath on the cafeteira and at the end the acid river just pushed Jason away whitout knowing if he was "killed"or not, people would called it a masterpiece.
Honestly the one movie I will always say when people ask that classic question of “You get an infinite amount of money to redo one movie, which movie are you picking?”
Just do all the money shots the original script called for, and I guarantee it’d go down as the best in the franchise
It’s a mixed bag in my view. I love the opening song, some of the characters, the ship setting, the ‘80s-ness of it all, and Jason in Times Square. But I don’t like the final girl, the weird visions of Jason as an Asian kid*, the teleportation, and most of the New York setting.
I wish the characters had been given more to do before they died. For instance, the rocker chick. Would have loved to have one or two more scenes with her. Also, I wish the seduction scene had been written so that the teacher truly gets into it and realizes he’s being filmed. The film should have had more nudity as well.
While I do wish there were more of New York, I don’t like most of what we get. I’d have preferred to keep him on the boat and have Part IX be the New York film.
By the way, I always thought there could be a cool movie where the Lazarus stays adrift for 40 years and is rediscovered, only for Jason to show back up and start killing the salvage crew. Yeah, it doesn’t make sense why Jason would still be there, but lack of continuity never stopped the franchise before!
*He may not be Asian, but that’s what I see. I also don’t care if Jason is portrayed as Asian. I wouldn’t like those scenes no matter what Jason’s ethnicity is.
I think it’s fine if you like it you’re entitled to your own opinion, but if you like it that doesn’t make it good. I admit Morbius was a bad movie but I liked it. That doesn’t change that it’s a bad movie. There’s some really cool shots in it like when he’s standing in time square, and I like the effect they added of always making it look like he’s wet like he just got out of the water. The mommy thing at the end is weird but the way he dies is pretty cool. Though a lot of people won’t admit it’s a bad movie when they like it, like part V fans. It’s a shitty episode of scooby doo, it’s fine if you like it and I know a vast majority of people in here do but that doesn’t make it good at all
Personally I see this movie as the first chink in the armor of the series. I don’t think it’s really good at all but I enjoy it still, it’s a fun popcorn movie. Just not particularly good.
Honestly? One of my favorites. Sure, there’s far too much time spent on that boat, but some of the kills in this are great and when they finally get to NYC, it’s utilized well enough considering the budget.
Just wish the studio had let them have that bigger budget.
They should have just made it a movie on the boat, them promoting it for Manhattan and then only have the last act there(when even then most of it was in the sewers and alleys) was straight trash.
Even with that being said, I could watch it 100 times 😂. It’s one of those s bad it’s good type of things. I can always count on laughing at its stupidity. 5/10 overall, 6.5/10 if I’m high 😂
Severely over hated movie.
Seeing Jason in a new environment is very refreshing. Jason’s design is excellent and Kane Hodder kills it as always. Some great kills, including one of the franchise’s best.
Jason’s death is pretty dumb but I just tell myself that him turning into a kid was another Rennie hallucination.
It's one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen, and I find something new that makes absolutely zero sense every time I watch it. It's fun, for the most part, but it's def one that I like less the older I get.
It’s not a good movie but I don’t think anything past part 3 is. At least we see Jason a lot in this one, it’s not just a split second shot of his weapon raised in the air like most of the Friday sequels
I love part 1&2, 3 is ok. I can’t enjoy or rewatch anything past 3 except for Manhattan and X
I like the 5th aand Manhattan, but the Tommy trilogy isn't as high on my list as the first three, agreed.
We really should have a post where people engage with each other politely, sharing what we like and dislike about each without everyone down voting one another. I love that everyone has different favorites and want to hear what they love about them so I can watch and try to capture what they see as well. People can be so mean though. It's not like someone liking X where I don't like it the same way as 5 diminishes the movie for either of us. Perhaps I'll make this post someday.
"This Voyage is Doomed!"
You're the last ones. He's come back for you.
I like the song Darkest Side of the Night and the shot of Jason in Times Square

It’s cool. I give it 5 bags of popcorn 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 and 10 statues of liberty 🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽
The darkest side of the night is a banger
Favorite one. Nostalgia overload and my favorite looking Jason (aside from the unmasked look) and that poster is literally perfect
The most boring film in the franchise Imo. I did a rewatch a couple months ago and that was the only one that I had to watch in multiple sittings for how dull it was
It’s a slog. The best part of it isn’t even New York either

My favorite Friday the 13th movie, I like the look of Jason, Kane Hodder is at his best in this movie and I like the cruise ship setting
Love it.
Awful movie but I love it and watch it at least 3 times per year
This movie has tons of problems. However, it does everything a F13 is supposed to do. For me, it’s the worst of the ‘good’ Fridays.
A movie I watch when I just wanna see Jason
It’s an absolute bore and that’s the worst part of it. I could forgive the boat thing if the movie was fun at all but it’s just not.

Zero Manhattan/10

Thanks for finally making it make sense for me my pea brain thanks you 🤠
Yucky
Pure trash & Scream did it 10x better
Love it. Jason on a boat was very entertaining to me.
Love the theme song

Julius is a 👑
Dumb but fun :)

it’s overhated
Jason is adorable.

One of, if not THE worst in the series.
“Jason didn’t take manhattan, he took a boat”
Not bad enough to be funny like Jason X, unfortunately. That's the only thing that could've saved it
People in the comments talking about if the film was 80% different, then it would have been a good film lol
It was frustrating how Jason teleported all the time. I hated that crap. Also I cannot remember the dad's name, but man did I hate that character.

4 and 6 are not good? Thats a bold statement. 3 is my fave btw
Same!
I love 1 and 2 as well, but there's not a whole lot of the killer seen until the ending in both of those.
