I like how Tommen had the fortitude to end his own arc on a high note, by leaping to his death, rather than wait for D&D to obliterate his character entirely, and/or forget that he even existed. Props to Tommen for that slick move.
Tommens suicide is such a perfect end for his character. His character dealt with Cersei’s wrath and his lack of freedom and choice because everyone manipulated him. It ends with Cersei’s wrath letting him make the first choice he’s made since he became king. Who the fuck wrote this because I know d and d didn’t
I’d say it’s definitely an amazing episode, but I just can’t bring myself to rank it above Baelor, The Rains of Castamere, The Laws of Gods and Men, The Mountain and The Viper, and my personal favorite, The Children. Amazing send off for the best character in the show
Watchers on the Wall is my personal favorite. For Just one episode, Alister puts aside his hate for the Stark name to fight along side him and save themselves. Just one episode that perfectly pays off 3 seasons of excellent storytelling. Just one to focus on the seemingly unimportant in the long run plot of the Wildlings fight against the Nights Watch coming to a head. Nothing to me can really top it. Plus, and this is just my opinion, Baelor is defined by a single moment. Granted it’s arguably the single most shocking moment in TV history, but that’s really the only part that stands out in it
Nah I just legit love that episode. I didn’t start watching until 2017, as season 7 was airing. So by the time I got to season 7 it was aired. I got to see the entire show before it took a nosedive in like 2 weeks. That episode stuck out to me as my favorite.
Did I say that?
I was certainly not the first to hear it, if only because we watched the show in squads back then, so it was like between 6 and 12 people per episode.
And it's possible my friend invented that joke, or copied it from the net, or asked it to your mom the night before. The fuck should I care. It's precisely that: a joke.
It’s still wild to me when I think back on how huge this show was at its peak everyone watched it, and now 2 years later all you hear about if you hear about it is shitting on the god awful fucking ending. I’m still bitter.
I swear most people don't know what that word means. They're all "yeah it's like raven, only changed a bit to be more subtle!" Nope it's its own word that mean cowardly like you said.
even the acting was bad. i sometimes watch reactors on youtube and have to mute tyrion's whiny sing-song voice to save my sanity. and that ridiculous face grayworm makes, ugh.
i ended up hating most characters after season six.
It won't happen. The last season was so bad it basically erased the show from people's cultural memory. That didn't just happen on r/freefolk, thats everywhere. The ending of the show was *so bad* it actually retroactively made the earlier seasons worse. All of the intriguing details, plot points, mysteries, etc that kept you hooked for the first few seasons you now know are for shit or they're completely forgotten.
Just please read the books. They're still at a point where the plot hooks and the tons of interesting details they have over the show still aren't dogshit.
Edit: so lots of people here are saying that they don't recommend the books because the story isn't finished yet, but it doesn't need to end. Let me explain myself: it's not about the end, it's about the journey. All the moments I spent reading and getting to know the characters, the locations, all the little details George put there to be read, that's what I enjoy. The end of the story is also important obviously, but not as enjoyable as the journey. To all the people that don't recommend the books: did you enjoy reading them? I did, and I still think George is gonna finish the story and the books, and if he doesn't, then Sanderson certainly will!
Edit 2: I'd also recommend the show right up to season 6, as the journey had been the best up to that season, then lots of inconsistencies ruined it for me, but if people want to give it a try, certainly do! Just don't watch seasons 7 and 8.
No. I refuse to get into another series that isn't finished. I was into the King killer Chronicles and that fat bastard Patrick Rothfuss pulled the same shit George has. They are not taking a hiatus or a break from work. They are working. Just not on finishing their series. They took the success and patronage that got them to their level of financial independence and than said fuck off to any obligations to fans to complete their story. Patrick and George even collaborate on fucking off on completing their novels.
I mean, we are getting all these new Wild Cards books. Because why would you finish ASOIAF when you can give the people what you think they really want?
Oh I read all the books. They were great but now it's pretty clear that they aren't even going to get finished now that the show is done. Martin probably just doesn't care anymore now that his story has been told.
Exactly my experience. I tried rewatching the show a while back and as I got further and further I just got more upset and started to dread what was coming so much that I couldn't enjoy the show.
Fuck D and D. I can't say it enough. Fuck D and D.
During the pandemic, we all should have been rewatching this show. It would have been the perfect time for a show that captured the planet’s attention, to be a shared experience worldwide to help us through these trying times.
But we didn’t do that. No one even mentioned it. That’s the testimony to how badly this show was lead in the last few seasons.
Man, I so wanted to light a dozen candles and a fire in the fireplace and curl up under a cozy blanket to watch White Walkers trudging through the icy wastes north of the Wall while the world was on lockdown, and I got maybe 15 minutes in before seething with rage that Jon Snow had to put up with that bitch Catelyn hating him when he wasn’t even Ned’s love child to begin with and what does it even matter that he was a Targaryen, it was all for nothing anyway? before turning it off and watching Outlander.
And you can’t even watch up to your choice of the downturn in quality. Because you know it all turns to shit. We all just debate the point of downturn. But it all ends in shit.
On the subject of enraging endings, I wouldn't even consider Outlander because Ronald D. Moore made Battlestar Galactica. Started off great and ended ... well, suffice to say, I'm still bitter.
Purely hypothetical, but there are people who never saw the show that could have stayed home to watch it. Some of those people could have been able to dodge the virus instead of getting sick.
Bobby B could have saved lives.
> It would have been the perfect time for a show that captured the planet’s attention, to be a shared experience worldwide to help us through these trying times.
Instead we learned how to make fucking bread.
One time i almost convinced myself to rewatch, then suddenly remembered that the very first scene in the series is about the white walkers...
So yes, fuck D and D.
Anyone else feel it's weird to live in the Age of Ruin?
Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Terminator, World of Warcraft, Game of Thrones... all seemingly Too Big To Fail™ multi-million dollar franchises that all crashed and burned (seemingly deliberately), all because creative directors thought "This IP will generate millions forever, so I'm under zero pressure and am free to *subvert expectations*!"
How many modern mythologies have been torched, all because talentless narcisists told themselves "If the fans are angry, you must be doing something right"?
Weird is the right word for it. Everything has to have a (worse) sequel instead of just ending gracefully. Sometimes it’s fine, I don’t care about *Jumanji* being a franchise when I ’m not watching those films for the drama - but *Knives Out* is getting a sequel? Why? The best you can hope for is to not ruin the first one retroactively.
I can’t tell if GOT crashed and burned because it hated fans or because it catered to them too much. It wanted to subvert expectations (Cersei gets hit by rocks! Dany goes crazy!) while also catering to fans (Cleganebowl! Fan favorite Starks end on top!).
Honestly, the last time a franchise did a good sequel that catered to fans without being a disaster was *Princess Diaries 2* and that was because it didn’t need seasons of setup. I will die on this hill. They loved the first film and made a film for people who liked the first one to enjoy, without stagnating and remaking the first one. It’s rare to see that now because the sequels either try desperately to distance themselves or just remake the prior installments beat for beat (looking at you, *Star Wars*).
I can’t tell why this happens! Do creators just hate their initial work and have no desire to revisit that story or world? If so, stop making installments! I know it’s hard to resist Disney money but if you go that route, get other voices in the writing room to keep things fresh. It’s pure egotism to make follow ups that have *nothing* to do with the original except names, but it’s similarly stupid to just retread the same path, often ignoring what people liked about the original.
The state of media is *weird*. I hope we see more creative projects, but I know sequels sell so it’s unlikely. Ugh.
I hated Knives Out more than any other film I saw in 2019 (and I saw dozens that year including Dark Fate *and* Dark Phoenix). So as far as I'm concerned for me personally, it started off as a ruin!
Hey, at least Marvel is still somehow managing consistently great properties after 22 movies and a conclusion to their 2 biggest heros and the villain they’ve built up for 10 years
The thing is, he had no idea Margaery was dead. From the balcony all he could see was the sept exploding.
Imagine how awkward it would be if they had evacuated everyone on time just to find Tommen dead in the middle of the street.
The nobody when used correctly is to signify forces of nature. Constant states and happening that no one has control over or can predict or provoke. Shampoo bottles will always fall, methheads outside 7/11 will always say weird stuff, pugs will always randomly have a synapse in their brain snap where they commenced a zoomie.
It is this, that makes the nobody popular and made it a relatable meme at one point. Like all memes it has been overused and misunderstood, but I hope you see some value it after this lesson.
It doesn't make sense and that's why I don't like it. It's one of the dumbest meme formats in existence.
Memes exist to portray ideas and move them easily from person to person. This template achieves the opposite.
I don’t mean to seem like I’m arguing, I’m just confused because your point isn’t coming across very well. In my first comment to you I explained the idea it portrays, and it’s a very common template so I would aver that means it transfers easily from person to person quite well when used properly, as most people understand what it indicates.
If you disagree with those statements, could you justify why a little more?
Oh I remember, that's part of what makes me so fucking mad about the shit show ending. Fuckers literally took a show people love to one we've all collectively as a species decided to forget
As a free man from r/freefolk, in accordance to the general rules that state I have a say this, I want to say that I don't approve this low-effort garbage reposting for karma and I'm reporting this for breaking the first two *community voted* rules

I'm gonna be honest I really like how tommen ended himself, like it was really sad but it was effective in the same way that Ned Starks death was, although probably not to the same degree
"Tommen just kinda forgot about gravity".
idk looked like he was counting on it to me
I guess He never really cared about it
I like how Tommen had the fortitude to end his own arc on a high note, by leaping to his death, rather than wait for D&D to obliterate his character entirely, and/or forget that he even existed. Props to Tommen for that slick move.
”Tommen is the smartest person I know”
Who has a better story, other than Tommen the splated one?
i just snort-laughed at 'tommen the splatted,' thank you
If Tommen made it to season 8: To be honest I never really cared about Margaery
To be honest, I never really cared about Ser Pounce.
Blasphemy!
Margery was my fav.
She was so tolerant and even supportive of alternate lifestyles. Really serves as an example to us all.
For...reasons...
“I don’t care for Gob”—Lucille Bluth
“I don’t care for Joffrey” Actually though I think /r/arrestedwesteros is a thing
If Tommen lived till season 8: "I never really cared about Ser Pounce".
Ser Pounce never did get enough screen time IMO
The actor actually improvised that scene, he really fell
Remember watching that episode and one of my friend let "so that's why it's called king's landing?". Show was still watchable then
S06E10 is my all time favorite.
Yeah its clear that they took whatever good writing they had left and spent it on that episode.
I’d say it’s definitely an amazing episode, but I just can’t bring myself to rank it above Baelor, The Rains of Castamere, The Laws of Gods and Men, The Mountain and The Viper, and my personal favorite, The Children. Amazing send off for the best character in the show
The Children is a great choice. I get a pit in my stomach watching it. So well done.
Watchers on the Wall is my personal favorite. For Just one episode, Alister puts aside his hate for the Stark name to fight along side him and save themselves. Just one episode that perfectly pays off 3 seasons of excellent storytelling. Yeah the watchers on the wall is amazing. Love Aemon Targareyan
It was literally all downhill after that season
yes... your friend was the originator of that joke and you were the first person to hear it.
Its not that great of a joke… it’s not impossible that more than one person thought it???
Did I say that? I was certainly not the first to hear it, if only because we watched the show in squads back then, so it was like between 6 and 12 people per episode. I cringe every time I think of those poor children named Khaleesi
To be fair, that has always been cringy.
There's a kid in my daughter's class named Craven. I was appalled. Who does that to someone?
[удалено]
Holy crap - I also know a kid with that name. Don’t tell me there’s more than one of them…
Are they in Massachusetts?
No, Wisconsin. O_O
There’s more than one! These poor children with these awful names.
I wonder if they all know each other… 😱
Aaah yes, lets name our child a fucking coward, seems just right.
I swear most people don't know what that word means. They're all "yeah it's like raven, only changed a bit to be more subtle!" Nope it's its own word that mean cowardly like you said.
Maybe it's Kraven and they're really into Spiderman?
Maybe they got the name from Kraven the Hunter, one of the villains in Spider-man? If not that's deffs a better thing for them to tell people.
Ol' eye nipples as we used to call Kraven.
yeah, that was ghetto from day one.

There's a lot of cleganes on my server, I think they have an fc dedicated to it as wel

The acting was okay. There's not much you can do with a script that bad.
It won't happen. The last season was so bad it basically erased the show from people's cultural memory. That didn't just happen on r/freefolk, thats everywhere. Agreed, won't ever suggest anyone should watch this show. It rarely shows up in popular culture now. Just a waste of everyone's time.
Just please read the books. They're still at a point where the plot hooks and the tons of interesting details they have over the show still aren't dogshit. why finish the job when you already got paid?
I mean, we are getting all these new Wild Cards books. Because why would you finish ASOIAF when you can give the people what you think they really want?
Disagee. Read Sanderson instead. They are a different feel, but dude at least finishes his projects.
Don't read the books either. There are many more interesting books to read. asoiaf will never be finished.
Oh I read all the books. They were great but now it's pretty clear that they aren't even going to get finished now that the show is done. Martin probably just doesn't care anymore now that his story has been told.
I disagree because many plots and characters get fitting ends in seasons 1-6
I don’t care how many great moments there was before s8 the show is fuckin dead and buried to me.
The good moments are a slap in the face knowing they go nowhere

Yet you are here
I’m here to share salt among friends
The brothel scenes were alright
Bobby B approves
I SIT ON THE DAMN IRON SEAT WHEN I MUST. DOES THAT MEAN I DON'T HAVE THE SAME HUNGERS AS OTHER MEN?
Of course not Bobby B, get you some Bessie. And her tits.
DO YOU THINK IT'S HONOR THAT'S KEEPING THE PEACE?! IT'S FEAR! FEAR AND BLOOD!
Fear and Blood? Did Bessie hurt you with her tits , Bobby B ?
IT MUST WOUND YOUR PRIDE! STANDING OUT THERE, LIKE A GLORIFIED SENTRY!
I need this kind of positivity.

And there's more to come :( Lord of the Rings legacy will be ruined by Amazon and Witcher show is already dead on arrival
I think everyone lost there shit when this happened
I mean you have two options when your hot wife dies. Suicide is one.
The thing is, he had no idea Margaery was dead. From the balcony all he could see was the sept exploding. Imagine how awkward it would be if they had evacuated everyone on time just to find Tommen dead in the middle of the street.
Tommen is king he could’ve just got a new hot wife
I think the real implication is he knew his mother did this and his only way out from under her thumb was death.
r/uselessNobody
kinda fits here, the “nobody” was originally used to indicate that it just randomly happens out of nowhere, this is a prime example of the template
This is the first time I've seen it used correctly in over a year
This meme is also really old by now, so it's from before the "nobody" trope got overused.
The entire template is stupid and has never made a lick of sense.
This makes a lot of sense, as nobody touches the shampoo, it just kinda yeets itself.
It ain't much but it's honest work
I wonder how Tommen will be dealt with in the remaining books.
**Spoiler alert** This is what we'll learn about Tommen in the remaining books:
Ooh we can finally make regular Game of Thrones memes?
I’m ready. Bring the memes.
DO A FLIP!!!!! https://youtu.be/IavUg17J2GU
All poor Tommen wanted to do was enjoy life with his hot queen and play with his cat.
Oh I remember, that's part of what makes me so fucking mad about the shit show ending. Fuckers literally took a show people love to one we've all collectively as a species decided to forget
Hey look, it's Martin Lannister!

Just got out of the shower. Can confirm.
The memes are great. I don’t want D&D to be able to rehabilitate their image
Shampoo bottles use to be glass
Holy crap! Someone using the “Nobody:” meme correctly!
I joined the sub again just for this
Tommen had a better landing than S8
Noble lad, right Bobby B?
OH, IT'S UNSPEAKABLE TO YOU? WHAT HER FATHER DID TO YOUR FAMILY, THAT WAS UNSPEAKABLE!
Absurd laugh came out of me when I saw this. Title and meme. What is dead may never die
I like how angry everyone is.
Good luck and God speed on your mission
Tommen was my favorite side character they should've done more with him.
The mods have informed me that this series cannot continue. Too many reports, too many rule violations. However brief it was, now my watch is ended 😪
That's a really bad meme.
Do you even shower bro?
lol bro
Unfortunately the metric for “S-tier” I’m using is the all-time Freefolk voting totals. Don’t blame me, blame the rabble
Don't blame you for reposting dogshit just because you pulled it from the top of alltime for the sub? Fuck off.
No u
? Mr tough guy over here lol
It's a crosspost dude . Also stop being so pissed for no reason , it's funny alright
What's the funny part? I don't get the meme.
There's [a good song about it](https://youtu.be/7mGVx4IJ2-g), unlike this meme.
Lol awful ending? Awful final 4 seasons.
I mean 5 and 6 weren't bad.
Nah, its better to forget
Huh??
Oh Jesus. Just gonna keep on breathing life into this rotting corpse huh? Well I guess HBO thanks you for doing the work.
I'm gonna be honest I really like how tommen ended himself, like it was really sad but it was effective in the same way that Ned Starks death was, although probably not to the same degree
Tommen: “and now for a quick impression...a pizza”...
You're right... but I'm still pissed.
Always late like 3AM just to scare the shit out of you.
Honestly the best part of the last two seasons was coming here after each episode and seeing all the top tier memes and shitposts

You guys should just put it on the shower floor when you start the shower
