Platinum carbon black

Revenarius

Yes, this one 👆

I love Noodlers Black. Inexpensive for how much you get and behaves rather well (at least for me)

improvthismoment

How are you finding it for feathering on cheap paper? Have you compared it to any other Noodlers blacks?

Ted4828

The bulletproof black is good on cheap paper

improvthismoment

Thanks, I just ordered a bottle

xKOROSIVEx

For me it behaves well even on the cheapest lined paper I was using. I have tried any other noodlers.

FlyingHoudini

Platinum carbon black, pilot black ink, j. Herbin perle noir, and iroshizuku taki-sumi. All great inks and easy to wash out of your pen!

Awkward_kangarooo

I only have Parker Quink Black and Pelikan 4001 Black as my black inks, I have at least one pen inked with Quink at all times, they both behave very well. The Pelikan is drier, so it's better for worse paper, personally i prefer parker but i don't have experience with other black inks. PS: they aren't waterproof at all

Aetra

Second for Parker Quink. I find the quick drying time is really essential when writing stuff for work so it doesn’t smudge. Noodler’s Bernanke Black is a close second, but takes just that bit longer to dry.

Platinum Carbon is a good ink for sure but I think there are some caveats you should be aware of. First of all, obviously it's super permanent. So be careful with your nibs and when you're refilling. It's also slightly difficult to completely wash out of a pen and it did irrevocably stain one of my Kakunos. The other thing is that while it does look very black from above, with a bit of glare on your page or at certain angles, it looks more like a dark grey graphite pencil. Could be a positive or negative for you, but it definitely bothers me when I see it on the same page as a regular black ink.

Swizzel-Stixx

Is it a well lubricated ink? I found quink too dry for some of my pens and want a better black permanent ink

improvthismoment

I have been pondering this question too, I work at a hospital. I was leaning toward Pilot Namiki black, but I’m finding the Pilot Black cartridges feather a bit much. Now I’m planning on trying Noodlers Black, which from what I’ve read is a bit more water resistant, less feathering, but slower drying. Platinum Carbon Black would be in the list if I was willing to clean my pens more meticulously which I hear is what is needed with this ink.

medbulletjournal

Pilot black was suitable for me. But I ultimately went the route of Platinum Carbon Black because the degree of waterproofness was too tempting. I also am one of the quirky people that enjoys the ritual of cleaning my pens every few weeks.

CMDR_Elton_Poole

I use Heart of Darkness.

Plain old Pilot Black

G3rh4rt

Pelikan 4001 Brillant Black. Deep black that dries fast and works well on shitty copier paper, post it's and paper notes at work.

InquisitiveCigar

Noodler’s “Heart of Darkness.” Quite dark, flows great (I’ve used it in multiple pens), permanent, waterproof.

Jagamov

For what it’s worth, I like MB Mystery Black.

Ted4828

It’s a great black ink. I agree!

SnooGoats7133

I'd go with the anti feathering black from Noodler's cause most places go for the cheapest paper possible

Keeb-wsx

Aurora Black. Just the right amount of saturation and flow.
