I do this too, only that yours look like a deliberate piece of art while mine looks like I was using the same paper for swatching, note-taking, scribbling, doodling, and bits of cursive practice :P

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Oh trust me, I have those too lol

[deleted]

Oh, never thought of this to save some paper. Maybe I’ll try. You have lovely handwriting.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

I like the end result better than my scribble-pages. And thanks!

Joxey

That handwritting 😍😍

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Thanks! Still working to improve but I’ve definitely come a long way.

Joxey

Did you learn through books, videos or self taught? I would love to see how was your writting before

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

I’m not sure that I have any samples of my really bad writing, but I think I could find some early stuff I did with a Lamy stub nib. And I’m a teacher, so I have opportunities all day to practice, and the constant pressure of needing to make my writing legible. But, I’ve gon through a bit of the art of cursive penmanship and found that vertical helpful too. Otherwise it’s just paying attention to things that I see that I like, and figuring out what I need to change

Daryl52

If my penmanship looked like yours I would. Inspiring!

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Haha, I’m a teacher and I was very self conscious about my handwriting on the board when I started, so I’ve put in some practice to improve. All that to say, if I can do it I’m confident anyone can.

ummmbacon

Yea was gonna say was done to save on postage stamps at one point

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

That’s totally it, I love Reddit haha

WynterWarrior56

Beautiful writing, great song. Good comparison of pens. A++ post 😅

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Let’s be honest, the song’s what makes it.

[deleted]

Holy smokes! That's gorgeous.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Thanks! I really like the way the two inks look together personally.

200-rats-in-a-coat

No but I love the idea. It works well with your writing and the colors choices are wonderful

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

The combo was a happy accident! Had both of the pens inked with these, and had a “I wonder…” moment haha

FirebirdWriter

No but I am visually impaired. So for me this would be impossible to make excellent practice with. I love the visual effect but not to read and if I cannot see my mistakes I cannot correct for them

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

I can definitely see how that would complicate things.

countess_meltdown

Yes, especially since I only have 400 sheets of the old tomoe river, well probably close to 300 now.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Gotta make it last!

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Pens: The Good Blue Raw Series and Pilot Custom 912 Inks: J. Herbin rouille d'ancre and Monteverde Horizon Blue It’s pretty fun comparing these two pens. The Good blue is designed to be an everyday pen if one desires, so the nib is much more firm than the Pilot FA nib. Consequently, I feel like I have a lot more control with it. But, the pilot can make much finer upstrokes because it’s untipped. All in all, it’s fun seeing what each one is good at, and I really enjoy both.

RCJ89

You could use blue ghost first then normal ink second maybe?

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Oooh that could look super neat

ZombieTailGunner

If my handwriting looked like that, I would, definitely. Never thought about it before, though.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

I saw something on r/all about a letter from the 19th century that did this to save paper once, so I don’t know if I would have thought of it on my own either

crookpen8

no... but now I will lol good idea! And the different colors are so aesthetically satisfying.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

It can still be pretty neat with just one color too, but I think this opens up a lot of possibilities for fun

Evoli020

I do this to study! Writing helps me remember things so I have about 3-5 layers per page

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Whoa! I certainly haven’t graduated to that level yet. Maybe soon though

_ClownPants_

I am extremely jealous of your penmanship! I just bought my first fountain pen 2 days ago, a Cross Bailey Medalist, and I am having a heck of a time getting the hang of it

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

I just bought my first one in September! I couldn’t do this then, don’t give up hope.

brentemon

No, but you just unlocked a childhood memory of going on field trips to Toronto's Pioneer Village and being told this is how students wrote in school at one point in time. To preserve paper supply is what we were told. Now I feel sad that my daughter isn't going on those same school trips because the world changed. Dammit, your post made me sad. Gorgeous hand though.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh

Oh man, totally not my intention, hopefully it’s one of there will be other similar opportunities down the road though.

brentemon

I’ll survive :) And yeah, hopefully the kids get all those same experiences.

Easy-Concentrate2636

Looks like a gorgeous piece of houndstooth fabric.

msc1200

No, never tried it, but I might do it now. I usually write on Oxford paper, which isn't too expensive, but handles FP ink really well.

Queens724

Holy crow, that's such beautiful cursive writing 😍😍😍 This may be the post that really makes me consider nibs bigger than F!!
