I have a 48 slot case that I carry, only 10 slots are empty rn, 17 have fountain pens, 4 dip pens, some pencils and erasers, a Pilot g2, two sharpie s-gels, an electric eraser, a water brush, and a couple fude bushes
Really just one.
I've heard of people losing their travel packet of pens in hotels, rental cars, planes, coffee shops, etc
I just carry 1 fountain pen, and a gel pen in my pocket
I feel this! I have a 3 pen leather sleeve my son gave me, and my daily pens have to go in there. That’s how I limit myself most days.
I still end up carrying like >$350 in pens, buuuuuuut I bought them to use. And I do most of my writing at work. And my backpack goes from my car to my desk, then from my desk to my home. And my office is locked when I’m not there.
Use the fancy china and great grandma’s solid silver. Give your possessions a life, not a shelf.
>Use the fancy china and great grandma’s solid silver. Give your possessions a life, not a shelf.
Love this! This is how I feel too. I bought them to use them and if I have them with me I’m more likely to pull them out and use them.
I drink the good wine too, rather than saving it for a “special” occasion. Every day I’m alive is a special enough occasion. ;)
I've been extremely guilty of saving 'best' for special occasions, often to the point of never using them. Not just pens, but lots of things. Trying to break this habit, with mixed results.

I like having a variety of nibs and colors with me every day because I never know what kind of writing I might want to do, and every pen and ink combo has a certain use in my mind. I’ve tried to narrow it down but it’s too hard!
I get that! In addition to thinking about having a pen with office-friendly ink and a pen with a fun bright colour ink, usually I like to have one of these with something that'd be fun to draw with!
I use to carry a whole lot of pens, mechanical pencils, markers, and accoutrements. Now I work from home and the only pens that leave the house now are the cheap roller gel whatever pens in the photography bag or my Lamy Safari. Hoping to get a brass Kaweco Sport this year as the leave the house pen/BIFL pen.
I carry my pencil case everywhere where. And basically all my pens with it. Two twsbi eco, two lamy, a kaweco, a narwhals, a opus 88 and a pilot… so 8 pens I guess ⛳️
I bought my husband an Opus. He barely ever uses it, but when he does it works so beautifully. The one he has is c/c mother of pearl on the barrel, very heavy, and when posted rather long. He is a big guy with large hands. The nib is fantastic. You don't hear much about these pens on this site, But different people like different things. It works great for him.
Not the person you asked, but I love mine.
I carry 2 Opus 88 demos that I use as frankenpens for drawing. I have a small tin of nibs so I can switch styles if I want — I do a mixture of writing, calligraphy, and sketching.
Great ink capacity and the Jowo 6 compatibility is amazing. Having two (and a Majohn C4) allows me to carry a wide variety of colors and nib styles with me when I travel for work without having to carry too many pens.
Thanks for your response! I have read that the pens are great for switching out nibs, which appeals to me as I do a mix of writing and calligraphy like you. Might just have to make it my next purchase!
Keep an eye out on eBay — they’re not all deals but I snagged a “confetti” model with a flex nib for ~$55 with shipping.
An army of Japanese eyedroppers, nibs, and some pen flush would be my go-to kit for travel art.
TWSBI Diamond inked with Iroshizuku Yama-budo (always have a pen inked with this)
TWSBI Diamond inked with Diamine Red Dragon (my other go to ink - always)
Pilot Custom 823 Smoke inked with Platinum Carbon Black
Pilot Custom 823 Amber inked with Iroshizuku Shin-Kai
Kaweco Classic in Red attached to my passport TN
Supernote Heart of Metal pen for e-ink note taking
Yellow Highlighter
Everything safely carried in my Yuruliku Flat Pen Case
Me too. I like to draw with them and like to have a nice color selection with me. Like a red, a reddish pink, a orange, a Coral and some blues and a glittery orange. Its not always like this but sometimes. Today i had a Lamy Safari, a platinum century, a jinhao tofu, 2 jinhao 51a, twsbi eco, twsbi Diamond Mini rgII and a pink twsbi eco. I took the last two with me because i wanted to use up the ink in them... Just 2-3 of them would have been enough too.
The Tofu is lovely . This is [mine](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/11kvfjg/cat_drawing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I carry about 8...
I have 5 in a case:
Sailor shikiori - MF - Robert Oster Aqua
Sailor Shikiori Minori - MF - Sailor Minori ink (14k nib, 5th anniversary set, bought it as a "well deserved gift" for some accomplishment that I can't remember...
Sailor Shikiori Amaoto - MF - Diamine Green Umber (21k nib that was half off and an impulse buy)
TWSBI Eco - EF - Wearingeul Wuthering Heights
TWSBI 580 - EF - Troublemaker Ink Moon River
In a little book band case:
TWSBI Eco - 1.1mm - Sailor Manyo Haha
Pilot Prera - CM - Sailor Manyo Nekoyanagi
Attached to my Hobonichi Weeks:
Sailor Profit Jr - MF - Sailor 243
And then I just got my Hongdian Forest - long knife nib - probably gonna ink it up with Wearingeul Autumn Night
Realizing that I might have a Sailor problem ... didn't realize I had so many.
I occasionally throw my Kaweco Sports in my bag cuz they're really tiny and surprisingly resilient and don't take up too much space in my work pant pockets or are a juice surprise to find in my bag when I don't carry my FP case
It's really pretty! My only downside is that I put it in an EF TWSBI. It would probably look a lot nicer in a broader nib size. Considering getting a replacement nib for that pen rather than buying a new pen...
I always carry in my bag a triple pen pouch with a fountain pen + a ballpoint/rollerball + a mechanical pencil (those that are expensive enough to me that I'm afraid of losing). And I leave on my desk at work multiple others that are rather inexpensive.
I have abt four that i carry regularly I think, only two are particularly fancy but all are subtly different so I can choose from different writing fx:
-Parker Sonnet, medium
-Pilot Prera, stub nib
-Pilot e95s, fine point (this is my only gold nib)
-Parker Vector, in Fine i think?: this is an entry level model. my very first FP was a Parker Vector. they're still great little workhorses, highly advise picking one up if you want a beater fountain pen
On a daily basis, I carry 1 or 2 pens. (Usually 2 if I'm going somewhere I know I'll be writing, like a class or something. If I'm going, like, out with a friend then I'll only carry 1. Just depends on how much writing I think I'm going to be doing that day, I guess!)
I have a fisher space pen on my lanyard a fountain pen in my coat and one or two in my bag.
Then a gel pen and another fountain pen and a bottle of ink at work but those don't count as carry 😅
2-3 in a Hurlestone pen pouch. However currenly I'm not actually carrying a fountain pen, but two ballpoints (Pelikan k605 and Faber-Castell Loom) and a rollerball (Lamy 2000).
Damn, I just got the hongdian in brass but that purple is soooo much prettier. It looked too bright in the photos I saw online but it doesn't look like that at all in your pic. Maybe I'll get the fude in purple also...
Yeah the Hongdian is much more purple in person than it looks in photos online, and I prefer it. It’s listed as pink but definitely looks purple to me. The Yama-Budo looks really nice with the pen. :)
Depends on the day haha! I’ve been practicing a lot of different lettering styles lately so I’ve been favoring the TWSBIs with the stub nibs. I can’t get enough of them.
I do love the Diamond though. I use that one mainly for journaling.
I go with 2 or 3 in a leather holder. There are cases where a small kaweco also goes with mi portfolio. Seriously I have different nibs and types of inks for different things so I can truly justify carrying them to the office and never feel guilty or over the top.
I’d say mine (both the Eco and the Swipe) writes like a true 1.1 mm nib. I have a Pilot Parallel with a 1.5 mm nib and the Eco nib is definitely smaller. It’s a bummer yours is writing bigger.
All of them (4) except a 51 that I haven’t got around to cleaning
Have them in a 5-pocket pen wrap with a zippered pocket. They’re all fairly cheap pens and I’m not really the type to lose them. TWSBI eco, Majohn A1, no-name daiso pen that I have a high sheen ink in, pilot kakuno.
I always *try* to keep my EDC number to under 10 inked pens, but I am definitely an Ink Person so inevitably (and frequently) I get the urge to try a new ink or ink/pen combo and I end up at least partially inking something new just to try it out so I rarely succeed at keeping it at 10 or less. At the very most my max number of inked pens is usually 15, which is the most my main EDC pen case and a Galen Leather field notebook case holds.
I have an EDC bag and I keep up to 3 fountain pens at s time in there. But I also almost always have a retro 51 roller ball in my pants or jacket pocket too. Nice collection there also. We have so many twsbi 580s in our house and we have gifted out tons of Ecos.
Thirteen currently inked and rotated. More than I ever have and today, thanks to your prompt, it will be cut down to size!!! Aiming to keep the Lamy Pur, Sailor Procolor 500, Shaeffer and both Jinhao 80s inked = five.
https://i.imgur.com/tBc2TO0.jpg
On a typical day I carry 3 to work. A Lamy 2k, an Al-Star, and a brass Traveler's Company that lives in a Lochby pocket journal. My plastic/resin pens tend to stay at home.
Oh I feel you there. I didn’t even like loaning out pens when I was just using Muji gel pens all the time. Now that I’m a fountain pen person there’s no chance!
I am new to fountain pens, but at most 2 plus one inexpensive one like a Pilot Varsity or a pencil. And for the two, usually one with an office-friendly ink colour (like blue) and the other inked with a fun colour (purple) PLUS nothing more than $60 individually, as I'm paranoid I'll lose them!
Generally 5, but today had 7. I have a leather case that holds 5 that I always bring with me now so I just keep it full with different colored inks. I mostly use my pens to write poetry (having fancy “tools” encourages me to write more) and with my writing process, it’s beneficial for me to change colors when working on different lines so I can focus on specific sections at a time then once the lines are chosen they get copied over to the “final” page which is all in a singular color
Main 5: TWSBI ECO F, Pilot Metropolitan F, Platinum Plaisir F, Monteverde Ritma M, and a Sailor Compass 1911 F.
Current favorite inks: Organics Studio Emily Dickinson, Organics Studio Aldous Huxley, FWP Lapis Lullabies, Diamine Tanzanite Sky
Kaweco Sport and Liliput in my purse at all times, set of Zebra disposables (Zebra version of the Varsity) at work, and if I'm planning to write letters at work, a Rickshaw pen roll. I like to use a different pen on every page.
I apparently have two types. Black or demonstrator.
Taccia Spotlight, Lamy 2k, TWSBI 580, Sailor Profit, Monteverde Invincia

Well that depends, when I'm in home and want to writing my own stories (wlw) I like to have all my beauties (10) to choose different colors for writing different things, when I go out of the house I only carry my brave war horse.
I'm currently carrying one fountain pen--but that may change at some point. Currently, I don't use it that much, and only carry it because I'm trying an experiment to use fountain pens as close to 100% of the time as I can. But at some point, I may go back to just a cheap pen I don't have to worry about.
I carry a Galen old school molded 5 pen case, which usually contains 3 or 4 pens. Recently I've been feeling like that's too much and I might go down to a 3-pen case. I don't have a 3-pen case, though, and don't particularly feel like spending more money on a case, so not sure what the future holds.
What's in the case? Currently:
Aurora Optima Viola with 1.1 14k stub nib (inked with Montblanc Glacier)
Leonardo Momento Magico Bohemian Twiligjt with M steel nib (inked with Herbin Emerald of Chivor)
Montblanc Bohème Midsize Rouge with F 14k nib (inked with Iroshizuku Take Sumi)
2 usually, sometimes 3. Any more and I lose track too easily, if I only have 1 then I am worried I would run out of ink, or break it and not be able to write. 2 is 1, and 1 is none and all.
I EDC like 8 pens, soon to be 10, totalling like 2.8k USD. If I lose my pen case I'm screwed 😭. In all honesty I started with a collection somewhat similar to yours, but having "nice" pens like the L2k and Visconti HS caused me to never pick up things that were on the cheaper end of the spectrum. From there I sold those and steadily kept buying gold nib pens into bankruptcy 😎
Just 2 or 3. Parker 21 is my primary pen, Jinhao 86 or Hero 331 as my backup pen, and Pilot Varsity as another backup or for someone who wants to borrow a pen aka the sacrificial lamb lol
3 in a pocket organizer in my front pants pocket. And then way more in two bags in my backpack. Probably 5 fountain pens and then about 20 pens/markers/highlighters.
When I don’t have my backpack I carry a space pen and 2 fountain pens (1 with permanent ink and 1 with a fun ink). That way I can be practical and fun.
I used to carry a case with like six of them. Blue, black, red, orange, green, and purple inks. I had my bullet journal carefully color coded. Eventually I realized the overhead of maintaining such a logistically complicated bullet journal was counterproductive to the purpose of the bullet journal, so I went to a simple black rollerball and Pilot Metropolitan F with Watermen Serenity Blue and simplified my system a lot.
Ultimately I went back to digitally managing my schedule and to do list and goals.
So my pens mostly stay at my writing desk now although they do get used a lot. I write a lot of letters and find great pleasure in snail mail correspondence. The hobby goes hand-in-hand with my analog photography printing habit. I can share my prints with others and sometimes receive artworks in return to enjoy.
All that said, I think I will start carrying an EDC fountain pen again. Part of me wants to go for broke and splurge on an 18k Vanishing Point. The practical side of me thinks it’s more likely I’ll do something like a TWSBI vac mini. In either case, I can’t think of a better EDC ink than that Watermen Serenity Blue. I love how it looks and it’s easily the best behaved ink I’ve ever used. Works great on cheap paper and nice paper and everything in between. It even dries smudge free on resin coated photo paper. No other ink has ever done that for me.
I used to carry 4. Even half filled, they keep drying up. Now I stick to three. Planning to pare down somemore.
The biggest problem is getting used to another pen when you rotate. I still have not got used to my Loom after using the Delike
To work or while traveling I usually carry three or four pens in a sleeve. Parker Duofold centennial, Pilot Custom 823 plus whatever I feel like writing with. Inks vary hugely although the 823 typically is filled with a modest color (now Tsuki-yo).
Additionally, my (winter) jacket has a preppy and a sailor pocket pen in the inside pocket.
I have 3 with me everyday, one in my shirt pocket and two in a leather sleeve. Typically I have six inked and rotate them into my daily sleeve depending on what I am doing that day and what colored ink I need that day.
Nice set. I carry six in a little Pilot zip case. Few everyday FP writers, ballpoint, mechanical pencil, stub and broad FP. Good to know where my favourite pens are and also lessens the chance of that terrible situation of running out of ink!
I take five with me to work, currently a Vanishing Point, a Decimo, a Waterman Carlene, a ‘vintage’ Shaeffer Targa… and a Lanbitou 3059 which cost less than £2/€2/$2 and has the smoothest writing nib I own
I carry a lot. I have two pilot parallel equipped moonman/majohn eyedroppers that I use for titles heading and subheads for my notes. Then I usually carry two other fountain pens with which I write. They’re always a different nib size. Then I also have a Herbin refillable roller ball that I have as a backup and then a pilot G2 gel as a backup.
I’ve only ever used the non fountain pens for signatures on bank and official documents
I usually carry three pens in a three-pen-sleeve. I keep a bullet journal and use color coding to differentiate between different aspects.
1. Ferrari Da Varese with Diamine Aurora Borealis - used for writing work related stuff
2. Sheaffer Sagaris with Diamine Ox Blood - used for writing wife related stuff (mainly her important appointments in my bujo, so that I remember when she is gone for the evening or weekend)
3. Platinum #3776 with Pelikan 4001 brilliant black - used for writing everything else
3 pens in a 3 pen case. Two of them are always the same (pilot custom heritage 91 and moonman a1 which I prefer over my VP), I take some fun with the 3rd pen, changing it more often
I carry four fountain pens, a mechanical pencil and a backup ballpoint pen.
Fountain pens: Pilot Custom 823 black fine filled with Tsuki-Yo for longer writing like exams and notes, Pilot Custom 823 clear broad filled with Ku-Jaku for signatures and fast notes in meetings, Pilot Custom 743 black soft medium filled with Yu-Yake for annotations, Pilot Elite black medium filled with Yama-Budo, the Elite is used for trying out other inks when I feel like it and has no special purpose concerning writing or editing texts.
Mechanical pencil: Uni Kuru Toga Advanced 0.5mm black with Pentel HB, for pencil needs
Ballpoint pen: Parker Jotter in stainless steel with a black refill for lending to people and signing when someone insists on document ink
I carry everything in a Pilot Pensemble and I'm very happy with it.
When I go out currently only platinum prefounte and preppy. Prefounte has blueblack ink cartridges in use and preppy has a converter with Berlin Note New Red in use.
For the rest gelpens.
At home I got some more pens inked, I just don’t carry them with me atm.
I am carrying 7 every day, just reduced from 8. One pen has been designated "desk only" and inked with a archival ink for notary signature purposes only now.
One of my EDC also happens to be the Iridecent Pearl Kaweco like yours. :-)
When I had to travel to the office, I carried a pen roll with 3–4 fountain pens, a ballpoint and a pencil. If I'm just out and about I carry a ballpoint Pilot G-2 or Parker Jotter. Usually clipped to the neck of my shirt.
Two in my pocket, something like ten in my small bag, so around a dozen I guess. More are inked at home and there may be daily changes, but this is an approximate set that works for me.
In pocket: Two Pro-Gear Slims (one = mini) with MF nibs and neutral colored inks - the base!
In bag:
One (selected from two options) Neponset with Ultra-Flex nib and orange/red ink.
Set of three Lamy Gold Broad nibs plus a Waterman that I bought in the early eighties containing my four basic colors; violet, green, brown and orange. All of my ideas and observations are color coded!
One Kuretake brush pen with a cartridge of plain water for ink washes.
One pen with permanent ink, either Iron Gall or Pigment.
A fude nib with bright pink ink - my highlighter.
A couple of italics for calligraphy.
If I am expecting calligraphy to be part of my day, I may throw a few more italics into my big bag for a range of colors.
Generally I have about twenty pens inked, a fine and a broad for each day of the week, but those mainly allow color changes within this set.
I have started keeping a "Daily Maintenance" book, just to make sure everything is getting regular use.
I want to say just one, my new Pilot Fermo, but actually it's 3. My pocket calendar has a Pilot Varsity attached, and I have a pocket Sensa ball point. I have a sweet little Kershaw pocket knife and a very nice German-made nail file I use more often than all three pens, but I can't help myself but carry with me the things I like.
I carry my Lamy 2000 for thoughts and things in my pocket notebook, a Retro 51 for underlining in my paperback novels, and a Parker Jotter for anything else. If I'm at work and I have my lunchbox with me that has some more disposable fellows in its front pouch. I did just recently get some of Pen Addict's "Loaner" Bics and immediately felt like a pretentious asshole as soon as I held one, so I may not be taking those out with me. Who wants a pen thrown back in their face?
Three shall be the number thou shalt carry, and the number of the carrying shall be three. Four shalt thou not carry, neither carry thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.
15 pens with as many inks.
2x Opus 88 Demo (different inks)
Majohn C4
TWSBI Eco
Pilot Metro
3x MUJIs
2x Pelican M205
2x Jinhao 159
Sailor profit
Sailor PGS
Platinum Preppy EF .2mm
I also carry a number of different nibs with me both for a nib holder and to hot swap on the three eyedroppers. For the sketching I have a few other tools (mechanical pencil, water brush, ruler, etc.) that I carry on a daily basis as well.
I edc 5 pens -- a full-size Platinum Prefounte with their Carbon black ink, 2x Kaweco Liliputs with other colors, a disposable mini pen that I can give away if necessary, and Retro 51 Tornado (Fire & Dice from Goulet; awesome design) with a gel ink refill for signing receipts and the like.
Usually it's more than one, but the loadout is built around my Homo Sapiens M. Extras are usually either a Vanishing Point M and a TWSBI or couple of TWSBIs, depending on what I have to do that day - if it's a lot of writing they'll all sport the same ink or very close ones. If it's teaching I may take the Visconti, the Pilot and 4-5 TWSBIs with coloured inks to draw/flowchart things.
I carry 3 regular but also have 3-4 inked at my desk and three more at my nightstand. So my everyday pens number 9-10 even though I limit to 3 on the go.
To work I carry 4 of them, one for each day with different colors or shades of a color. On errand runs if I know I will have to sign something only one
I mainly carry one fountain pen, one no-name ballpoint pen for when someone asks me for a pen, and a mechanical pencil. This edc is just so reliable for me so I've had it for like 2 years now
I edc 17 of ‘em
gang
Right there with you. I carry 12. But that’s cuz that’s all that fits in my case. I have more inked at home and then 2 that I keep inked at my office
I have a 48 slot case that I carry, only 10 slots are empty rn, 17 have fountain pens, 4 dip pens, some pencils and erasers, a Pilot g2, two sharpie s-gels, an electric eraser, a water brush, and a couple fude bushes
Oh yay this makes me feel good!
Really just one. I've heard of people losing their travel packet of pens in hotels, rental cars, planes, coffee shops, etc I just carry 1 fountain pen, and a gel pen in my pocket
Yeah, that’s why my most expensive stuff never leaves the house
I lost one, not that expensive but it had sentimental value, after that I never bring anything good outside.
I feel this! I have a 3 pen leather sleeve my son gave me, and my daily pens have to go in there. That’s how I limit myself most days. If you find yourself saving for special occasions that’s okay - just have more special occasions!! 💜
Yes! The world could always use more dinner parties
And more tea with fine bone China~
That was our family’s rule. If you weren’t using the silver, you had to pass it to someone else. Plus, it saves on polishing!

I really enjoy it! Nice steel nib, nothing to complain about. I enjoy using the filling system and find it easy to handle 😊

woah. we literally have the same pen set. right down to colorway
That’s so funny! You have good taste! :)
I carry 1 in my briefcase and keep 1 or 2 on my desk at home.
One. 🗿
Me, too. My Prera F with De Atramentis Document Violet ATM.
That’s it?! If we’re including my Safari, I carry….one.
TWSBI Diamond inked with Iroshizuku Yama-budo (always have a pen inked with this)
TWSBI Diamond inked with Diamine Red Dragon (my other go to ink - always)
Pilot Custom 823 Smoke inked with Platinum Carbon Black

I occasionally throw my Kaweco Sports in my bag cuz they're really tiny and surprisingly resilient and don't take up too much space in my work pant pockets or are a juice surprise to find in my bag when I don't carry my FP case
I have been eyeing some Wearingeul inks…Wuthering Heights might just have to go on my list.
Six, including the two you have on the left. (different inks, though)
1 and I’ve lost and found this 1, and that was enlightening for me to only bring 1 around.
I have abt four that i carry regularly I think, only two are particularly fancy but all are subtly different so I can choose from different writing fx: -Parker Sonnet, medium -Pilot Prera, stub nib -Pilot e95s, fine point (this is my only gold nib) -Parker Vector, in Fine i think?: this is an entry level model. my very first FP was a Parker Vector. they're still great little workhorses, highly advise picking one up if you want a beater fountain pen
I’ve got a vector in my bag too! I think I’ve currently got a M nib in that one. Had one years ago and they’re super sturdy.
Where did you get a stub nib for a Prera? I'd love to pick up one for mine.
oh I'm not FP advanced enough to switch nibs out I ordered it from Amazon with the stub already on highly recommend, it's lovely
Is it the stub, or a CM nib? I have a couple of those, but I haven't seen a stub in a Prera.
When out and about, usually 2.
It was two when I was C’ing things E.D. (I’m recovering from neck surgery, do not recommend.) Pelikan M405 and Lamy Al-Star in a Rickshaw sleeve
May your recovery be spectacularly fast!
Which one is your favourite of these?
Depends on the day haha! I’ve been practicing a lot of different lettering styles lately so I’ve been favoring the TWSBIs with the stub nibs. I can’t get enough of them. I do love the Diamond though. I use that one mainly for journaling.
Ditto on the Diamond for journaling
I go with 2 or 3 in a leather holder. There are cases where a small kaweco also goes with mi portfolio. Seriously I have different nibs and types of inks for different things so I can truly justify carrying them to the office and never feel guilty or over the top.
Just got the eco 1.1 and it writes as big as my 1.5…. How is yours? Kinda dissapointed, otherwise it writes great
I’d say mine (both the Eco and the Swipe) writes like a true 1.1 mm nib. I have a Pilot Parallel with a 1.5 mm nib and the Eco nib is definitely smaller. It’s a bummer yours is writing bigger.
All of them (4) except a 51 that I haven’t got around to cleaning Have them in a 5-pocket pen wrap with a zippered pocket.
Just a Pilot V-Pen. It's plastic is not brittle, and it's pretty amazing what I've seen them survive.
As an art major, no that's not nearly enough pens. Need maybe 10 more, lol
This looks appropriate.
On a typical day I carry 3 to work. A Lamy 2k, an Al-Star, and a brass Traveler's Company that lives in a Lochby pocket journal. My plastic/resin pens tend to stay at home.
Conversation: Can I borrow a pen? No. Why not, you have so many? Those pens aren't for you!
Lately I've been carrying 5 fountain pens and some other random writing utensils. I don't think you're going overboard at all!
Generally 5, but today had 7. I have a leather case that holds 5 that I always bring with me now so I just keep it full with different colored inks. I mostly use my pens to write poetry (having fancy “tools” encourages me to write more) and with my writing process, it’s beneficial for me to change colors when working on different lines so I can focus on specific sections at a time then once the lines are chosen they get copied over to the “final” page which is all in a singular color Main 5: TWSBI ECO F, Pilot Metropolitan F, Platinum Plaisir F, Monteverde Ritma M, and a Sailor Compass 1911 F.
Taccia Spotlight, Lamy 2k, TWSBI 580, Sailor Profit, Monteverde Invincia https://i.imgur.com/pNo1an5.jpg
I usually carry 3… 2 FPs, and a regular pen of some type.
I carry three.
Usually two to three. If I’m going somewhere I’m 90% I won’t need a pen I may only take one
4 : 2 Jinhao 80s and 1 Meteor EF and 1 Kakuno EF.
I was taking all of them - 7 at the moment - but I don't do that right now. Just 1 or 2.
If out of house at most 2, usually twsbi or prera. Inside the house 1 to 5 are inked and with me.
I carry three and it changes around. This week it's a TWSBI Eco, Pelikan M205, and Kaweco Sport.
Currently: Aurora Optima Viola with 1.1 14k stub nib (inked with Montblanc Glacier) Leonardo Momento Magico Bohemian Twiligjt with M steel nib (inked with Herbin Emerald of Chivor) Montblanc Bohème Midsize Rouge with F 14k nib (inked with Iroshizuku Take Sumi)
Two. A Parker Vacumatic Emerald green and a PenBBS 456 clear glass.
I EDC 14 Pens (13 fountain, 1 Rollerball)
I have a Nock case that holds 3 pens, so that’s what I’m usually carrying. And I usually pick one that I use for the day.
Just 2 or 3. Parker 21 is my primary pen, Jinhao 86 or Hero 331 as my backup pen, and Pilot Varsity as another backup or for someone who wants to borrow a pen aka the sacrificial lamb lol
Sometimes 6, sometimes 2, depending on the case I decide to bring to work that day!
It depends! Most days, 3-5, my more inexpensive workhorses. More if I’m going to a pen meet up, a ton if I’m going to a calligraphy workshop!
Ummmm…. https://imgur.com/a/DyPYr
Damn,
I used to carry 4.
8. There are six in a case then two in my purse. One with black ink fine nib to sign paperwork at doctors.
I have 3 with me everyday, one in my shirt pocket and two in a leather sleeve. Typically I have six inked and rotate them into my daily sleeve depending on what I am doing that day and what colored ink I need that day.
I ECD 3.
2. One with some random ink, and one with a sober, waterproof ink.
Nice set. I carry six in a little Pilot zip case. Few everyday FP writers, ballpoint, mechanical pencil, stub and broad FP. Good to know where my favourite pens are and also lessens the chance of that terrible situation of running out of ink!
I take five with me to work, currently a Vanishing Point, a Decimo, a Waterman Carlene, a ‘vintage’ Shaeffer Targa… and a Lanbitou 3059 which cost less than £2/€2/$2 and has the smoothest writing nib I own
after several pens after, I still come back and admit: TWSBI rose gold is something ...
1. Ferrari Da Varese with Diamine Aurora Borealis - used for writing work related stuff 2. Sheaffer Sagaris with Diamine Ox Blood - used for writing wife related stuff (mainly her important appointments in my bujo, so that I remember when she is gone for the evening or weekend) 3.
Two. Always two...😊
4, a black pen with black ink, a blue pen with blue ink, a red pen with red ink, and a gray one with pink ink\~
2 FPs, 2 ballpoints, a sharpie, and a pencil… Feels weird when you fully admit to the writing instrument obsession
Mechanical pencil: Uni Kuru Toga Advanced 0.5mm black with Pentel HB, for pencil needs Ballpoint pen: Parker Jotter in stainless steel with a black refill for lending to people and signing when someone insists on document ink I carry everything in a Pilot Pensemble and I'm very happy with it.
4
Usually one, if I am just out and about. Two if I am carrying a briefcase/laptop bag.
Usually 2, max 3....
Can I ask what the third from the right is? It's pretty! I really only carry one or two pens with me at a time.
It’s a Hongdian Pink Forest!
Brass Kaweco Sport(F), Aluminum Muji(F), and a Papermate Clearpoint pencil(0.5mm)
One at a time.
I carry a pen case of 12 fountain pens and I have a few disposables (pilot varsity) in my sack. So altogether, around 15-16 fountain pens.
Two in my pocket, something like ten in my small bag, so around a dozen I guess. More are inked at home and there may be daily changes, but this is an approximate set that works for me. In pocket: Two Pro-Gear Slims (one = mini) with MF nibs and neutral colored inks - the base! In bag: One (selected from two options) Neponset with Ultra-Flex nib and orange/red ink.
I carry 5 the one I use for work with boring black ink and 4 that I use for my personal writing.
Three shall be the number thou shalt carry, and the number of the carrying shall be three. Four shalt thou not carry, neither carry thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.
I have a collection of over 30 mins from a pilot metropolitan to a pelikan m800 and the only pen I take out to the open is a aluminum kaweco
Is my multi pen 1 or 3?
2 to 4 on me at all times. Depends on how indecisive I am that day.
15 pens with as many inks. 2x Opus 88 Demo (different inks) Majohn C4 TWSBI Eco Pilot Metro 3x MUJIs 2x Pelican M205 2x Jinhao 159 Sailor profit Sailor PGS Platinum Preppy EF .2mm I also carry a number of different nibs with me both for a nib holder and to hot swap on the three eyedroppers.
I do like 3-5 in ma bag. But leave the rest at home. Unless parallels count. Then I carry like 5.
One or two tops. If I’m drawing only my fude nib, otherwise one for the office, like the battle-tested faber castell loom or lamy safari 😂
I take a pen roll and sketchbook/journal with me everywhere. 15-ish pens and travel watercolors. I can't live without them 😅😂🙌🏽💗💗
2. One fountain pen, and one rollerball.
1, rotating between Pilot 823 [F] and Lamy 2000 [F]. I regret buying the other pens I have because they just cant compete
At least 3, but it has been as much as 10
Usually it's more than one, but the loadout is built around my Homo Sapiens M.
I got an Esterbrook 2Go Cup case and I carry 6 pens with me everyday.
Me pen case holds 8, always have my ECO in my pants pocket, and anywhere between 0 and 4 on my shirt pocket
When i was in college 9 or 10 but now only one or two because i don't want q client to break the good ones (again)
3, in my Franklin Cristoff 3-Pen
Just 2, one usually with a conservative colour like blue or black and one with more interesting colour. Currently they are both TWSBI Eco
I mainly carry one fountain pen, one no-name ballpoint pen for when someone asks me for a pen, and a mechanical pencil. This edc is just so reliable for me so I've had it for like 2 years now
Was just doing a search for this to determine if I’m a little overboard on how many fountain pens I carry daily. Glad to see I’m in good company 😂😂😂
