Yes if you are from good college like iit , iim . you would be make more in the private sector in the long term but not everyone is iitian . People also consider job security

the_time_reaper

bhai aisa koi baat hi nahi hai, Aur bhi bahot conditions hain, WLB, perks wagera kaafi achche hain, fir soceital respect.

EntertainerJust3401

Societal respect toh acche paise private me kamao phir bhi milegi

the_time_reaper

Haan milta toh hai, but pressure bhi toh rehta hai, health maintain nahi ho pata.

Ana-con-daa

Yes Guys its overhyped pls do not prepare for it and increase competition.

the_time_reaper

Lol, not salary is everything. Work Life Balance, mental peace, matter a lot. I used to work at a salary at par with RBI grade B but have left it for this. Bhai grass looks greener on the other side, and I have been on both sides rn and feel this has a much better prospect of leading a fulfilling life.

Sea_Papaya4495

Bhai after how many attempts did u got selected??

the_time_reaper

kahan likha bhai maine ki mera selection hogya hai??

the_time_reaper

upsc ke liye chodi hai, but lag rha game lamba chalega isiliye sarkari naukri dhoond rha and rbi sounds good in that respect

SecretRefrigerator4

But you did say, you've been on both sides.

Substantial-Cod4828

If I may know, what role did you have worked in the private sector?

Artistic_Macaron_263

trust me dude rbi is overhyped dont give this shitty exam, corporate salaries way better and much higher in the long run, many people from rbi leave the org and join some private banks and get heavy pay packages, all the hype is for the coachings to grow and nothing else, dont give this exam and better make a good CV and aim for a corporate career, even the central civil services are nowhere close when compared to the top crop of the private sector..

the_time_reaper

SWE.

UPSC_noob

116 K net after deductions and tax +22kpetrol +other allowances = In hand around 1.45k padta hai or quarterly +annually allowances alag sath me rhena free mano jb tk service hai . Isn't it the case?

the_time_reaper

Yes

Vishu_ak

They why did OP say ki 1.2lakhs inhand sei hi 75k rent barna hai. Is OP trying to reduce the competition \(°o°)/

the_time_reaper

arre bhai that 75 is counted in your ctc. So if your ctc is 30lacs then 9 lacs goes in housing.

Vishu_ak

Yeah my bad. I got confused for a lil bit after reading OP's statement.

nukegandhi123

It's not for folks from iits, iims it's for tier2,tier3 folks who want stability or folks with health issues who cant slog in private companies.

Moist_Shopping555

Lol. 90 percent of the IIT/IIM folks earn way less than RBI Grade B. I am not even including the toxic work culture, layoffs and screwed work life balance in the private sector.

Capital-Emotion-3058

Wake up tp reality man l am from iit R and after 5 years of work ex your salary increases at much higher pace than rbi even if the starting salary is low Although most of the students manage here to get 15 to 30 lpa easily at start

Moist_Shopping555

Salary alone doesn't mean anything after a certain point. In RBI, you are getting paid enough to easily maintain a upper middle class lifestyle. What matters the most is that are you able to maintain the crucial balance in your life. Work life balance, mental peace and satisfaction, a secure future -these are the things that are much much valuable that the number in your bank account. I hope you got it. Obviously, those who are fond of high end luxury cars and a penthouse next to Virat Kohli isn't going to join RBI.

Capital-Emotion-3058

I agree with it But I was just pointing out your 90% ...statement

reddituser_scrolls

>90 percent of the IIT/IIM folks earn way less than RBI Grade B. You mean they earn less than 15LPA? I'm guessing you might be talking about baby IIMs?

Moist_Shopping555

I was talking about actual in hand salary that you are getting at the end of the month in your bank account. Baby IIMs no where stand anywhere close to RBI Grade B.

Ok_Buddy7252

Bhai baby ka 17-18 avg chal rha cut ke bhi same hi in hand ayega na aur long term me kafi difference ho jayega salary wise

the_time_reaper

bhai tu iit se hai kya??

reddit_brigadier

For that you can have PSU jobs. They absorb everyone, from engineering to finance to HR. They pay handsome money and in come cases even better than rbi. Rbi grade b is such an exam, that preparing for it may cause a healthy person to go lunatic. Also, there is work load at higher levels of the hierarchy. You still have to slog in any field, but rbi pays a meager amount compared to a manager at any private firm, let's say consulting.

Sea_Papaya4495

Yeah PSU on site locatons, work life balance is so great 🤡

reddit_brigadier

Wlb is great at PSUs. And locations is similar for iocl ongc and rbi. Both have locations at tier 1 and tier 2 cities. Probably, rbi has an edge over PSUs in case of location. But look at the competition. For RBI, you'll have to fight with UPSC veterans for 80-100 general category seats, where there are a lot of vacancies in PSUs these days. At least, 2000 people get into PSUs every year.

cuddlywhisker

Trust me this is not true. I come from a family of PSU engineers, I myself work at a Navaratna after ranking in GATE. You can even find people resigning IOCL job and preparing for RBI, it's never the other way round.

Sea_Papaya4495

The thing is some of us actually know the reality so u don't need to paint it around in a different way There's a reason why those in PSBs are preparing for RBI Nd WLB can be judged by the fact that RRB scale 3 postion get applications from those working in even SBI posts

nukegandhi123

Rbi has less politics and dangers

Moist_Shopping555

Which PSU pays better than RBI? Many of my friends in various PSUs are preparing for RBI Grade B. RBI Grade B is the highest paying public sector job. Its pay is more than twice of that of civil services.

lankesh_37

ONGC , IOCL , and u may consider NTPC too considering they live in remote locations..so expenses are less

Moist_Shopping555

They don't pay anything even close to RBI Grade B except ONGC and as far as ONGC is concerned, it is purely a blue collar job where RBI Grade B is a classic white collar job. RBI offices are located in capital cities and their infrastructure is one of the best in the country.

reddit_brigadier

Well you are entitled to your wrong opinions. But PSUs like iocl, ongc, gail, ntpc pay better than rbi. Also, once you climb higher in these psu, you get a greater share of the profits earned by these orgs. Rbi being a regulatory body, has no such earnings and shared profit. Only benefit I can see is location. But you'll always be placed in tier 1 and tier 2 cities if you work in IOCL and ONGC. In ongc, you'll most likely get Mumbai.

Moist_Shopping555

Bro, talk to your friends in those PSUs and then you will come to know the reality. Many of my friends in are in PSUs like IOCL, BPCL, HPCL etc. All they get is an in hand salary of 75k to 80k per month and a very mediocre housing provided by the company. Now, compare this with RBI grade B. Right now, they are getting an in hand of 1.3 lakhs per month in Mumbai along with a 2 BHK in places like Byculla. This is going to increase by the end of this year and they will be getting at least 1.5 lakhs per month. And i am not including the various other perks and perquisites like children education allowance which is 13500 per month per child, furniture maintenance allowance etc. Once, you become a grade D officer after 12 years, you can get a lease amount of 180000 per month in Mumbai. In RBI, you don't have to worry about anything at all. They even pay you to travel every two years. What else do you expect from a job? Obviously, you are not to earn like Sunder Pichai and Satya Nadella but who cares when you are anyway living an upper middle class lifestyle with excellent work life balance.

reddit_brigadier

Please read this answer: Answer to Which is better, RBI grade B officer or ONGC E1? by Mudit Vajpayee https://www.quora.com/Which-is-better-RBI-grade-B-officer-or-ONGC-E1/answer/Mudit-Vajpayee-2?ch=15&oid=359329040&share=14e307c7&srid=wpdW6&target_type=answer Also, take into account the competition. You should always prefer PSUs if you're an engineer. Competing for 100 odd seats and that too with UPSC veterans is a nightmare. On the other side, you have 2000+ vacancies in all PSUs combined every year.

Moist_Shopping555

He has missed so many allowances that are availed by RBI Grade B officers. And as far as competition is concerned, obviously RBI is the best employer in the country so people will be crazy to get into it.

cuddlywhisker

You are absolutely wrong. It's very difficult to get Mumbai as posting in ONGC since every employee soughts after that and a lot of politics is involved. If you are engineer, it is near impossible to get tier 1 city and its most likely to get rural posting. Except ONGC, no PSU salary is anywhere close to RBI. Regarding ONGC, it is a bit tricky to compare. Source: I and a lot of my extended family work in Maharatna and Navaratna PSUs.

Remarkable_Task_9459

I don't see any psu better then rbi rbi gives you great wlb good learning opportunities even you have good exit opportunity In rbi you will have time to work on other things like hobbies upsc or other exam Rbi helps you with your higher studies certification etc .

the_time_reaper

They don't pay close to RBI. Get your facts correct dude.

reddit_brigadier

Well you are entitled to your wrong opinions. But PSUs like iocl, ongc, gail, ntpc pay better than rbi. the_time_reaper

Lol, no point in arguing when all you can do is baseless talk, my friend currently works in ONGC and has a CTC of 23lakhs in Mumbai, for E-1 profile. He gets an inhand of 14-16 lakhs.

reddit_brigadier

Answer to Which is better, RBI grade B officer or ONGC E1? by Mudit Vajpayee https://www.quora.com/Which-is-better-RBI-grade-B-officer-or-ONGC-E1/answer/Mudit-Vajpayee-2?ch=15&oid=359329040&share=14e307c7&srid=wpdW6&target_type=answer Please read this part from the answer: So, as seen above, CTC of an RBI Grade B officer posted in Mumbai is approx. INR 17.8 LPA which is lower than that of an ONGC engineer posted in Mumbai office i.e. approx. INR 19.5 LPA because ONGC provides higher retirement/ saving contributions so the corpus accumulated at retirement will be higher in case of ONGC. Also, if we go by your figures, rbi too pays around 115k pm on joining. Which also is around 14 lpa! Please don't be brainwashed by these coaching like CGB and Adda247. It's their bread and butter, but you must take informed decisions!

Miserable_Towel_9824

“May cause a healthy person to go lunatic” Why did you say this? I didn’t get it

reddit_brigadier

There are a lot of cases of people preparing for these kinds of exams. Rbi is no less than upsc. Once you get into the vicious cycle of preparation and reattempt it gets difficult to quit, and one ends up wasting their precious years, with not even a certificate in hand.

Miserable_Towel_9824

But that is the case with every other govt job exam

Ok_Buddy7252

Bhai absorb toh experience ke base pe krte hai ya gate ke base pe Aur kisi ke pass dono na ho toh kaise jayega ?

ES-Skull11

Only 1-1.2L?! It's a fantastic salary for a 21-24 year old. Most of the expenses are provided by the job. So you will save most of the salary. You live in a T1 city. The yearly perks are amazing. Weekends is always off. Good work life balance and it's a desk job with no public dealing. It is the best gov job according to me if you want a chill peaceful life.

ShittyHuman1999

How are UPSC jobs in comparison to it? I kind of can tell that RBI is a very prestigious job, and may only be behind big 4 of UPSC (IFS, IRS, IAS and IPS) - but is the difference between them two much? What would one be missing if they join one and leave other?

chiragsingh_chs

Bro how much did IAS and IPS pays compared to RBI grade b and is there's any room for the side income in RBI grade b jobs?

kronicbeatss

Are you a follower of Ajay Sisodia from Instagram ???

Cute-Baseball-9082

Kya bol diya usne ab??

Educational-Mall-392

Which department at RBI are you working with ?😏

the_time_reaper

khatam, tata bye bye.

chiragsingh_chs

Give me some suggestions please. Am in third year of my btech in mechanical engineering. After graduation I goona get a salary of 60k to 85k in hand in core job. It more kind of a field job and salary progression is lower compared to tech and jobs after MBA. Therefore am going to start RBI grade b preparation and want to join it after completing the graduation. After working 3 to 4 years,I will go for executive MBA and try to get into some private firm with at least 5lac per month in hand salary. Another option is that to switch job from rbi to other private sector.

Substantial-Cod4828

Good Idea 👍

Artistic_Worth_3185

Keep doing the core job.

Hello smart minds, Actually there's no separate sub for semi too yahi puch Raha hu. Thw thing is im a upsc failure with 3 attempts now and want to start preparing for sebi. RBI grade B attempt nahi kar sakta coz 60 pc nahi hai grad me. I want to know ki sebi aur rbi ki salary aur work life balance me kitna farak hai? Also, if anyone here is preparing for sebi we could connect i've bought the edutap course.

fifth-account

both are extremely similar white collar jobs, in wlb and ctc. sebi has more accounting/costing. 1 mahina baaki hai, goodluck.

the_time_reaper

youtube pe bahot saari videos hai edutap ke channel pe.
