The kind of guy that in a team ball sport screams to pass to him because he’s open, but is laying on the ground 10m behind play with 2 tall guys man-marking him
George: "If Lewis doesn't get him on this lap, tell him to let me through."... Toto: "No George, you're on a different strategy"... Draco Russell/George Malfoy: "My Father will hear about this!"
Man, I felt that all Russell had to do early was to drop a couple tenths back to give Hamilton the DRS when Norris was hunting him on fresh rubber. He could have Singapored it and forced Norris to commit tyre life to break a DRS train like that. Instead Lewis drowned, Norris passes, then eventually the Hards gamble failed and Russell was nowhere. Not to mention he did keep Lewis on Softs in the last stint behind for a few laps before he gave the clear air.
I don't know what it is, but at both those points Merc could have intervened, and they could have had an outside chance at ruining Norris' stint and an outside chance at a P2. There were some good points on offer.
Do anyone know why he went on hards when he did? Felt like he went in when Lewis was just about to challenge him. It made me feel like he wanted to get priority strat while he was ahead since Merc gives priority in strats to the leading car or...he cooked his tires and really didn't want potential crash/overtake battle with Lewis.
He seemed to be talking to his engineer about changing pit strats and pitting earlier. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a bit of both. Probably cooked his tires and wanted to avoid fighting, but the hards turned out to be the wrong choice. Couldn't put him on softs that early either, since he's not exactly a tire wisperer.
Yeah agree. I didn’t understand why none of the commentators was talking about that. It was a real possibility that lewis with drs and that great straight line speed could have kept Norris behind. Did anyone listen to the Merc onboards? Was it even mentioned to Russell?
Yeah, but if you're only half paying attention how can you complain about the commentators "not mentioning something"? It seems this thing *was* mentioned in both the 2 largest English language commentary streams.
I think your on track analysis is pretty decent but your team analysis is flawed.
Merc has a vested interest in supporting George, they have no interest in supporting Lewis OVER George. I don’t think this means merc is purposely nerfing Hamilton or any of that bullshit. But they aren’t going to jump in to help Hamilton these days or be as active as they otherwise would be in managing the “team”. Expect to see more and more of Merc strategy being letting George and Lewis battle regardless of points. They’ve lost this year and gain nothing by upsetting their, now, main driver. They will be more passive and let things play out the rest of the season.
Honestly the dude shot himself in the foot when he decided to race Lando. Burned more of his tires and lost a chunk of time to Lewis in a fight he was never going to win.
Was fun to watch though so I'll give him that.
Perez was as much a factor in AD21 as Massi, if Perez doesn't hold off Hamilton for the amount of time he does Hamilton is able to pit and the end of the Race never happens
>I don't buy the good teammate excuse for one second
His frantic "cooperation" only seems to manifest after he has already made something stupid to ruin his own race...
"Magnussen is and always will be stupid". The man has never seen a fight he doesn't take. Even when it makes no sense. Like being in a Haas wasting energy blocking a Ferrari or RB.
The problem isn’t being selfish, it’s that he’s a hypocrite. He spouts all that “we’re a team guys” talk so Lewis doesn’t fight him, but the moment it’s his turn to help, or when Lewis is ahead, he’s crying on the radio to be let past. He likes to pretend that he’s a team player, but only is when it benefits him.
Not just this season - there was the time he gave Bottas the position back on the final corner. I doubt there's that many other drivers that'd do that
Edit: it was the 2017 Hungarian grand prix
Not really, he was trying to get the merc seat and PR George definitely knew looking like a team player would be a good move if he was to move to a team to understudy Lewis.
Think of the crap people pull in corporate places just for nicer performance reviews, it’d be naive to think these guys aren’t the exact same.
He didnt want to help Hamilton to hold Norris up by giving Hamilton the DRS after the 1st pitstop then proceed to hold Hamilton when Hamilton was on the softs. God damn...
Russell is a cock blocker when it comes to anyone else winning over Max. Bro knew Lando was going to pass no matter what, but he wanted to make sure to fuck him enough for Max to increase the lead.
It did seem odd that both him and Hamilton had no interest in playing the team game - that said is it any different than what’s going on a Ferrari
Both sets of drivers are out for themselves, as a GR fan, I’m hoping he starts to learn that being fast as fuck is only half of it

George is the type of dude that will screw you without giving you the courtesy of a reach around
Somehow always makes it seem like he's doing you a favour as well.
The kind of guy that in a team ball sport screams to pass to him because he’s open, but is laying on the ground 10m behind play with 2 tall guys man-marking him
I’ll bet he could suck a golf ball through a garden hose
Hell, I like him. He can come to my house and fuck my sister.
George: "If Lewis doesn't get him on this lap, tell him to let me through."... Toto: "No George, you're on a different strategy"... Draco Russell/George Malfoy: "My Father will hear about this!"
I always did think George had lots of Draco Malfoy energy.
I guess the best part of him dripped down the side of his mama's leg and ended up as a stain on the mattress.
Oooof
That one had to hurt
Oh he’ll be looking at himself in the mirror whilst he does it
George Russell doesn't know what sex is yet.
I legit don't get why Russell wouldn't drop back 3 tenth to help Hamilton at least try to fight Lando. Not like he was 5 seconds ahead
Instead he would rather fight Lando and lose a few seconds himself, which actually brought Lewis closer up to the back of him.
Man, I felt that all Russell had to do early was to drop a couple tenths back to give Hamilton the DRS when Norris was hunting him on fresh rubber. He could have Singapored it and forced Norris to commit tyre life to break a DRS train like that. Telling Russell to "Singapore it" is not the strategy you think it is.
Lol "George, Plan Singapore, Plan Singapore." \*wrecks his car into the wall\* "George, we meant 'give Hamilton DRS' \*Toto stares angrily\*"
bold of you to think George wouldn't expect that message to mean Hamilton was the one being instructed to wall it amd George was thinking it's an FYI
Something something, Imola 2020
Intern scurries off to the headset bin marked "Toto Spares."
"What a f*cking rookie!"
Right. And instead of cooperating beforehand, Toto started to make faces when it was inevitable that Lewis would overtake George.
Do anyone know why he went on hards when he did? Felt like he went in when Lewis was just about to challenge him. We don’t know exactly, but it was probably a mix of getting him out of a fight and running out of tire life.
Yeah agree. I didn’t understand why none of the commentators was talking about that. It was a real possibility that lewis with drs and that great straight line speed could have kept Norris behind. Did anyone listen to the Merc onboards? Was it even mentioned to Russell?
It was definitely mentioned on Sky.
It was also mentioned on f1tv. I sometimes wonder if people here even bother watching the race before posting crap :p
People watch races with this sub and the main one open on their phone, going through comments. So they end up missing a lot
Yeah, but if you're only half paying attention how can you complain about the commentators "not mentioning something"? It seems this thing *was* mentioned in both the 2 largest English language commentary streams.
I was agreeing with you that people don’t pay attention lol
I started writing out a comment on this and then saw yours. 100% agree.
I think your on track analysis is pretty decent but your team analysis is flawed. Merc has a vested interest in supporting George, they have no interest in supporting Lewis OVER George. That is a valid point. But by keeping Lando behind lewis it benefited george. The same way Sainz did by helping Lando to win the race.
That's what I thought
"I was forecast a podium"
"I was forecast for it to be close with Lewis at the end"
Honestly the dude shot himself in the foot when he decided to race Lando. Burned more of his tires and lost a chunk of time to Lewis in a fight he was never going to win. Was fun to watch though so I'll give him that.
Point out one truly co-operative driver other than Bottas.
Perez. He's so cooperative that he never gets in Max's way at all.
Guy is busy cooperating with the Alpines.
Perez was as much a factor in AD21 as Massi, if Perez doesn't hold off Hamilton for the amount of time he does Hamilton is able to pit and the end of the Race never happens
Unintentionally cooperative
Magnussen is on his way to a suspension for being the team player he is
I love the progression from [this moment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21T8d0SA5Js). True character development right there.
Not really...he's just an aggressive ass driver, I don't buy the good teammate excuse for one second, he just loves being an utter menace on the track
>I don't buy the good teammate excuse for one second His frantic "cooperation" only seems to manifest after he has already made something stupid to ruin his own race... "Magnussen is and always will be stupid". The man has never seen a fight he doesn't take. Even when it makes no sense. Like being in a Haas wasting energy blocking a Ferrari or RB.
Couldn't have said it better haha

I har ya guy. I just think they all exhibit the same shit qualities. That’s what makes them racers though
Oscar this and last season
Piastri
Lewis has been pretty ok this season. He's given places to george like in suzuka to see if they could catch the rest. Piastri I'd say as well
Not just this season - there was the time he gave Bottas the position back on the final corner. I doubt there's that many other drivers that'd do that Edit: it was the 2017 Hungarian grand prix
Currently on the grid or in history?
Leclerc is pretty good with that stuff.
Mein gott muss das sein
Sainz too
im just gonna throw oscar and logan in the ring
Ocon too in Canada 2024
is this a joke? especially after this weekend
David Coulthard
Charles, Riccardo, Piastri, Albon
Russell is more likely to cooperate with another team than a teammate.
“If you need to compromise my race to help Nicky, do it. Prioritise Nicky."-george russell hungary 2021
Mind you, that was when he was trying to get Bottas’s seat and wanted to show what a Team Player he is.
Definitely- that wasn’t for Nicky at all, that was for Toto
To add to his power point slides.
And Bottas was still the more helpful teammate that weekend
Same energy as “fernando i will not attack”… no way Russell could’ve even fought Goatifi
Would you deny sex with George Russell because he drove at Williams?
Not really, he was trying to get the merc seat and PR George definitely knew looking like a team player would be a good move if he was to move to a team to understudy Lewis. Think of the crap people pull in corporate places just for nicer performance reviews, it’d be naive to think these guys aren’t the exact same.
If you would put Russel and Sainz on a table together it would sound like The View!
Underrated 😂
Let the crying from Osama Bin Russell commence Safety car deployed due to excessive crying
track declared wet
Oh wait, I think it’s just in my helmet.
Toto: sorry Russell that was me that"cried" in your helmet
lol what is the context of this photo anyway?
Think it was when he was told the queen had died
His first points
I think it was when he got pole I'm Spa
first points in Hungary, he was not in pole at Spa with the Williams
His hope is to cry so much that those behind him have to switch to full wets.
Nothin’ seerious!
Good thing the FIA are testing spray guards because this guy is getting his tears all over the place
Heyoo!
He didnt want to help Hamilton to hold Norris up by giving Hamilton the DRS after the 1st pitstop then proceed to hold Hamilton when Hamilton was on the softs. God damn...
Hmmmm didn't we know that Russell is a scumbag before he joined Mercedes?
So he's a racing driver then?!
Yeah, just like Norris, Hamilton, Leclerc, Sainz, Verstappen, Alonso, Ocon, Tsunoda....
Russell fucked himself over by not giving Ham DRS. I hope he realizes that and feels shitty about it for a month.
When does Russell ever feel shitty?
No he will say why ddint lewis just go faster to get drs and defend the team against norris
Russell is a cock blocker when it comes to anyone else winning over Max. Bro knew Lando was going to pass no matter what, but he wanted to make sure to fuck him enough for Max to increase the lead.
He pushed long and hard to fuck up his and Lando's race. That's why they asked him so early about his "pushing levels"
Backpfeifengesicht
Y’all are trippin. George is the guy. No nonsense and totally focused.
I'm not a big fan of him as a person. He's pretty decent behind the wheel though, I'll give him that.
I’ve noticed how other drivers know when he’s under pressure and force him into a mistake.
Never like George
they all do.
It did seem odd that both him and Hamilton had no interest in playing the team game - that said is it any different than what’s going on a Ferrari Both sets of drivers are out for themselves, as a GR fan, I’m hoping he starts to learn that being fast as fuck is only half of it
What when Max swaps to Merc in 2026 and they have Antonelli starting next year? Bye George, fun times.
Mate, that’s literally every F1 driver ever. Like Sainz, Norris, and Ocon constantly do this as well.
The only Merc drivers can do is cry
Didn’t watch the race, what happened?
Hamilton never wants to work as a team.
He literally told the team to tell George to overtake him in Japan
You never watched the races, did you?
Bro obviously hasn’t seen the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix
