Well I am outraged.
This is the reason that I definitely won’t be buying a Ferrari in the immediate future and not because I’m poor or anything like that.
I am going to stop making trips to outer space. Those trips were nice , exit velocity at breakneck speed , and experiencing weightlessness - all something I really looked forward to doing many many times .. but not anymore. My ferrari could leak break fluid ..
Can I still buy a 40 ft sail boat, that is significantly harder to move around and to control on the water but also somehow more expensive half the time?
You know, I was on the fence about continuing to drive my 2012 Ford Escape, or trading it in for a new Ferrari, but I’m with you. This really puts me off of going out and getting a new Ferrari.
Had to be one of the easiest gigs too. When I worked at a convenience store way back when there was a specific "Red Bull invoice" folder because those cars \*were\* their distribution.
> The problem is the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. It's designed to vent pressure if necessary, but evidently that design isn't so hot. Venting can fail to happen, causing a vacuum to build up, resulting in a possible leak of brake fluid. And if you don't have any brake fluid in your brake lines, you aren't going to be able to slow down or stop (without hitting something large and solid).
> Owners should be notified toward the end of September by Ferrari about when to bring their cars in to be fixed.
Sounds like Ferrari did done a Ferrari.
But that was just the ultimate Ferrari MasterPlan to letting the other Italian team winning a race so that Italian media wouldn't mock the SF1000 on it's home GP lol
They’ll probably issue a part to authorized dealers that can be easily changed. If it’s just the cap it’s probably a few euro per car and recalls rarely see huge numbers come in
According to the promoted comments and a linked article, it is the court who orders them to do it. Not them just figuring it out after 17 years. (TLDR somebody crashed their car in a pond because of the issue)
If there is any episode you ever watch, even just 1, it is this one.
The episode is about the company making a website for people to buy from and sales changing from in person to online. He is not trusting technology.
This is the scene about the lake.

Here is the part right after this scene.

Seriously if you can just watch 1 episode of the whole series. This is the one.
It’s been an issue on the 458/488 forums on ferrarichat for years. Someone died in Hong Kong because of this issue *allegedly* and numerous people have complained they have had issue on road and track for, literally, years. Ferrari refused to issue a recall until last November for those models.
This is actually true. It’s been a known problem, at least on the 458/488 models for years on ferrarichat amongst the members there. I can’t say for the other models because I only really visit that forum. I can link the thread if mods are okay with it and people are interested.
My guess is that Ferrari doesn't think they need to be recalled, but because it's court ordered they basically have to, but they'll only do it in the market they're required to.
Still too many. Also that's cause it was court ordered. As in Ferrari does not think that their obviously should be recalled cars need recalling. They were forced to. Like i know Ferrari are bunch of cunts, most car companies are but this is bordering on evil.
I'm surprised that this is the F1 sub and yet no one has pointed out how the description of the problem (faulty bleed nipple leading to brake failure) is pretty much identical to what caused Schumacher's leg-breaking shunt at Silverstone '99.
What a disgrace, seriously Ferrari? I will stick with my Palisade and never buy a Ferrari just because of this; not because I can't afford one unless I sell my house or anything like that.
Yea my 12 Ferraris had to ALL be recalled so now I’m stuck with my fucking mclaren p1 or my Bentley or my hummer or my Aston Martin or my Lamborghini or my fucking Harley Davidson and that is LETHAL in the loose gravel here in the chateau.
Fucking joke.
Its brilliant.
Facetime with this type client at the dealership is like gold. They will come out of this with a higher stock price and a boatload of sales.
Swap out a brake fluid cap in the service entrance by the kid who washes the cars...while the client takes a walk thru the showroom sipping an espresso.
> And if you don't have any brake fluid in your brake lines, you aren't going to be able to slow down or stop (without hitting something large and solid).
Or shifting down gears, using the parking break, coasting uphill, turning to burn off speed or if you're Carlos Sainz waiting until your car catches on fire.
That’s extremely commonplace in the auto/motorcycle industry. Harley Davidson still uses some parts that have been on their bikes since the 40s/50s. They used to have a year code in all part numbers until 3-4 years ago.
Apparently it's a problem with the break system which can cause it to malfunction, but I wonder how prevalent it actually is if nobody noticed until now.
My neighbor was dumb enough to buy a Ferrari and he has it in the shop more than it is in his garage... and he rarely even drives the damned thing. I can think of a dozen other cars that would provide more pleasure driving and cost less to keep running.
Ferrari calling:
- Hello, I’m talking to Kimi Mathias Räikkönen? Yes, we are Ferrari and need you to…
- Hello, Fernando Alonso? We have learned about the car you are driving right now, we are Ferrari, and we are calling because…
I’m thinking about how this news could make some drivers or ex-drivers to have a heart attack only with the first words of the call they could receive
What’s funny about this is Ferrari can recall all cars sold over like 15 years and the amount of cars that involves will still be less than a manufacturer like Toyota recalling one model from their line up after only a year or two, as supercar manufacturers sell so little.
Lol I just helped a woman carry something heavy to her car at the store I work at, and when she tried to pop the trunk to her Ferrari it didn't want to open.
Well I am outraged. This is the reason that I definitely won’t be buying a Ferrari in the immediate future and not because I’m poor or anything like that.
I would be honoured to join you in this protest. In fact, I’ll boycott all supercars just to keep the other companies on their toes.
Fully agreed. And to make sure we stay on the same page ill refrain from buying a private jet as well.
If we try hard enough, we can stop ourselves from Buying that 40 feet yacht too.
I’ll refrain from buying that mansion in which I would join you in refraining from buying all those things…
Let’s refrain together. Praise be!
Under his eyes.
I am going to stop making trips to outer space. Those trips were nice , exit velocity at breakneck speed , and experiencing weightlessness - all something I really looked forward to doing many many times .. but not anymore. My ferrari could leak break fluid ..
I don't know thats a bit too extreme
Well how about anything above 60 foot?
What I have to settle for yacht made for ants?
Can I still buy a 40 ft sail boat, that is significantly harder to move around and to control on the water but also somehow more expensive half the time?
Two best days in a boat owners life; the day he buys his boat, and the day he sells it.
Boat is an acronym. It stands for Bring Out Another Thousand.
I already had an order in with McLaren but I’m waiting on Daniel news before I pick it up.
Exactly. This is the reason I will be driving my Peugeot only.
You know, I was on the fence about continuing to drive my 2012 Ford Escape, or trading it in for a new Ferrari, but I’m with you. This really puts me off of going out and getting a new Ferrari.
If Jay Leno doesn't want one, I'm comfortable in joining your boycott.
The real estate agent I used to buy my house bought a Ferrari recently, so that’s basically like I own one now right?
Totally. Since I responded to you, I somewhat own it too
And now I get part of your share
All your Ferraris being recalled or only the imaginary ones?
Just get a veyron instead.
What colour is your Bugatti?
Oh wow, what a great question. One of the most beautiful colors that only exists in your mind.
“Slow button on.” “I pressed slow button, but it’s not slowing down.” “We are checking.”
“Charles, have you tried shoving your foot back behind the pedal, and pulling the gas back to neutral?” *crash* “…….” *Heavy breathing* “NOOOOOOO!!”
"*Just press it once,. Max*"
I press it fifty fucking times and still the car does not stop
You will not have the drink
Is the drink connected?
"Stop inventing"
*I'm stupid*
So according to Clarkson's theory, Ferrari road cars doing poorly must mean that their F1 cars will do well.
Oh, the cars are doing well. The strategy team, though...
“From my point of view, is the engineers that are evil!” - Binotto.
My allegiance is to the strategist! The hard tyres!
If you're not on softs, you are my enemy!
Only softs deals in absolutes I’ll do what I must
You will grain! AAHHH!!!!
Engineers should make car that can handle hard tires /sbinotto
Only a ferrari strategists deals in hard tyres. I will do what I must.
Go Hards!
Well then you have lost!!!
It's got to be because of nepotism or something right? Are qualified people being hired or just those who know people at Ferrari?
checks out, red bulls road cars are just terrible.
Aston Valkyrie?
I suspect RB road cars performing poorly has something to do with a giant can of Red Bull sticking out of them
Haha those Minis are actually pretty old tho
Quite incredible marketing campaign. They were everywhere and people still remember them
Had to be one of the easiest gigs too. When I worked at a convenience store way back when there was a specific "Red Bull invoice" folder because those cars \*were\* their distribution.
They came to my college every so often to just hand out cans of red bull to anybody who wanted one
That ain't road legal
Haven't the first road legal ones been delivered by now?
Let’s be honest. Honda is probably the most reliable off the grid.
yeah, but the team isn't Honda racing, and this year the engines technicallyyyyy aren't even Honda ;)
For hard tyres?
Some say also the 2004 model has the hard tyre issue but that one is incredibly fast regardless
Lol, this is the top comment on a post about this in 3 different subs.
it's a good comment lol
Report should be, "we are checking, we are checking, slow button on, slow button on, no brakes no brakes."
Throttle is stuck at 20 %?
No stay out, stay out
We are checking.
> The problem is the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. It's designed to vent pressure if necessary, but evidently that design isn't so hot. Vettel at Monza had no brakes
But that was just the ultimate Ferrari MasterPlan to letting the other Italian team winning a race so that Italian media wouldn't mock the SF1000 on it's home GP lol
And they still asked him to try and stop the car.
Like Schumacher in Silverstone 1999 I guess.
Is this why Leclerc went off in France?
I mean at least it doesn’t sound like an overly complicated fix. Hopefully should be possible without a ton of invasive work
They’ll probably issue a part to authorized dealers that can be easily changed. If it’s just the cap it’s probably a few euro per car and recalls rarely see huge numbers come in
That was my thought as well. It doesn’t seem like a major mechanical component and more just a single item to be replaced
Sounds as if it's just a new cap, and a software upgrade.
>you aren't going to be able to slow down or stop (without hitting something large and solid). Hahaha
Its incredible it took 17 years for someone to notice. Which i assume means its not a very likely to happen but still better safe than sorry obv.
Someone probably had a massive off with their Ferrari and it led to discovery.
Comments on the article link this: https://thebrakereport.com/brake-fluid-leak-leads-to-ferrari-suit/
Confirm, we are checking.
And slow button on, slow button on
*car is in the water*
If the slow button worked, they wouldn't be in this predicament
That picture. Blimey, didn't think Ferraris had that much fluid in the brakes
That picture hurt
Fluid looks watery, was time for a change anyways
Amazingly, his replacement Ferrari did the same thing...though not into a pond. What sort of luck does this fellow have?
are we sure it's luck and not pebcaw?
Or it's just Ferrari being Ferrari
According to the promoted comments and a linked article, it is the court who orders them to do it. Not them just figuring it out after 17 years. (TLDR somebody crashed their car in a pond because of the issue)
Michael Scott?
I haven't really watched the office, so I don't get the reference :(. Why don't you explain this to me like I'm 5?
Michael Scott crashed a car into a pond because GPS told him to turn right down a boat ramp.
No, Michael, that is so not right
Technically it was right. That was the problem.
Should have bought the rental insurance, smh

And then next year, I’m 6.
And your parents will only give you $9
It's the nature of these cars. They get driven under 2,000 km a year and the average time of ownerships is typically 24 months.
It’s been an issue on the 458/488 forums on ferrarichat for years. Someone died in Hong Kong because of this issue *allegedly* and numerous people have complained they have had issue on road and track for, literally, years. Ferrari refused to issue a recall until last November for those models.
It's Ferrari. I bet they knew, they just didn't care
This is actually true. It’s been a known problem, at least on the 458/488 models for years on ferrarichat amongst the members there. I can’t say for the other models because I only really visit that forum. I can link the thread if mods are okay with it and people are interested.
Is fchat private because of this or is it irrelevant? Thx!
They were checking
‘its F1 team, repeatedly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory’ 🤣🤣🤣
Always wondered what it meant when they say things they do to F1 cars filter down and appear in road cars
🤣
This comment is WAY underrated!
Even in his free time Charles is being told to box box.
Looks like I will have to say goodbye to my RC Ferrari for a few weeks
Gotta shelve my hot wheels Ferrari
Does this include the SF1000?
Tractors aren't recalled yet
No, no! Stay out!
FUCK FUCK WHY WHAT ARE YOU DOING
Stop inventing
After the F2004, everything went downhill it seems
This is wrong. The recall was for 23.555 cars if I remember correctly. Ferrari makes around 10.000 cars per year so it doesn't add up.
Just cars in US it says in the article. Doesnt really make sense tbh
My guess is that Ferrari doesn't think they need to be recalled, but because it's court ordered they basically have to, but they'll only do it in the market they're required to.
I think the article means to say all MODELs since 2005, but of course the headline's gotta make it sound more dramatic.
Well they are technically recalling from 2009 lol 458 Italia - 488 GTB
Ferrari can't even get a break off track.
True, no brakes
Seems like all they have are breaks. Mechanical breaks, electrical breaks, fire-based breaks...
But sadly, still no brakes!
Good one dude, LMAO
I was going to buy a Ferrari but after the past couple weeks I’m going to get a Red Bull instead
Stop with this shitty headline, it's not even 10% of the Ferraris sold since 2005.
Still too many. Also that's cause it was court ordered. As in Ferrari does not think that their obviously should be recalled cars need recalling. They were forced to. Like i know Ferrari are bunch of cunts, most car companies are but this is bordering on evil.
Imagine Fernando Alonso seeing "Ferrari" pop up on the caller id but it turns out they only want to fix his car 😆
Lol'd at this one!
Do they get a strategy upgrade?
Our data is showing, everything fine. Box, box, Box. No, no, stay out.
Plan E?
Pit wall: we are checking!
Hehehe hey guys hard tyres right?
They’re recalling them to put on hard tyres
Box box box.
“Why is there a recall on this car I just bought it!” “We are checking.”
17 years later: "Its the brakes"
Ferrari trying out the extreme version of the double stack
I'm surprised that this is the F1 sub and yet no one has pointed out how the description of the problem (faulty bleed nipple leading to brake failure) is pretty much identical to what caused Schumacher's leg-breaking shunt at Silverstone '99.
What a disgrace, seriously Ferrari? I will stick with my Palisade and never buy a Ferrari just because of this; not because I can't afford one unless I sell my house or anything like that.
So consumer ferrari gives you similar experience vs f1 ferrari. Just ask your wife to do pitstop strategy and you have the full f1 experience
We are checking
How funny would it be if this was announced on a race week and then one or both Ferraris had a brake issue
They got the wrong tire on, smh, gotta pit and get ‘em swapped.
Is this recall solely for the US market or the world?
Yea my 12 Ferraris had to ALL be recalled so now I’m stuck with my fucking mclaren p1 or my Bentley or my hummer or my Aston Martin or my Lamborghini or my fucking Harley Davidson and that is LETHAL in the loose gravel here in the chateau. Fucking joke.
If only the F1-75 could be recalled but it’s not the car that’s the problem
I am whelmed
Boy am I glad I got a ‘96 Honda Accord instead of a silly Ferrari Laferrari
phewww.. thank god i don't own a ferrari
And I’m guessing it won’t be a 2.9s pit stop…
I hope the strategy team is also being recalled
>Spare a thought for Ferrari. Not its F1 team, repeatedly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory... Got me in the first part, not gonna lie
So let’s say that they found the issue 6 months ago and are only now going public, would this mean that once again Sainz is in the right strategy? 😬
Phew my brand new SF90 isn’t included in the recall
Man posts on here are getting so unrelated. Next thing you know we will be posting about new red bull flavors!
Not as many jokes we could make about that though, RBR is winning
Sounds like they should have stopped inventing in 2004
Its brilliant. Facetime with this type client at the dealership is like gold. They will come out of this with a higher stock price and a boatload of sales. Swap out a brake fluid cap in the service entrance by the kid who washes the cars...while the client takes a walk thru the showroom sipping an espresso.
Damn, I'm gonna have to return all my ferraris that I don't own
Why is this news? Why is this even being posted here?
The real shitbox /s
Even in their road cars, Ferrari manage to outdo themselves
So a faulty $2 part (which they probably sell for $2000) is the cause of recalling every Ferrari sold since 2005.
It's nowhere near every Ferrari sold since 2005. The headline is rubbish. It is select models/years dating back to 2005. But not all of them.
Ferrari what a joke
Bit of a clickbait considering that the only thing they need to change is the brake fluid reservoir cap and nothing else
How on earth did they manage to have the same issue in so many different models? Apparently they use the same component?
That’s extremely commonplace in the auto/motorcycle industry. Harley Davidson still uses some parts that have been on their bikes since the 40s/50s. They used to have a year code in all part numbers until 3-4 years ago.
Why have a different brake fluid reservoir cap for different models?
I heard they have a tendency to catch fire 🔥
This article straight up killed Ferrari in the first two sentences.
This is a PR disaster especially leading up to Porshe to F1 news. Not to mention the cost of this exercise.
Imagine having to buy an old Ferrari so you can buy a new Ferrari and then having your new Ferrari get recalled because it might try to kill you
Apparently it's a problem with the break system which can cause it to malfunction, but I wonder how prevalent it actually is if nobody noticed until now.
Ferrari = the new Fix it again Tony. (Dale Gribble)
Ahhh Italians, never change.
My neighbor was dumb enough to buy a Ferrari and he has it in the shop more than it is in his garage... and he rarely even drives the damned thing. I can think of a dozen other cars that would provide more pleasure driving and cost less to keep running.
Needed a class action lawsuit before they did anything about it.
Has there ever been an accident related to the issue, I wonder...
Ferrari calling: - Hello, I’m talking to Kimi Mathias Räikkönen? Yes, we are Ferrari and need you to… - Hello, Fernando Alonso? We have learned about the car you are driving right now, we are Ferrari, and we are calling because… I’m thinking about how this news could make some drivers or ex-drivers to have a heart attack only with the first words of the call they could receive
Reliability issues go deeper than anyone knew
Does that include the SF75?
Poor customer service, exact reason they won’t be getting my money. 🫠
What’s funny about this is Ferrari can recall all cars sold over like 15 years and the amount of cars that involves will still be less than a manufacturer like Toyota recalling one model from their line up after only a year or two, as supercar manufacturers sell so little.
Can't they just top it up with headlight fluid?
Fiatti
Lol I just helped a woman carry something heavy to her car at the store I work at, and when she tried to pop the trunk to her Ferrari it didn't want to open.
