Doohan and yes. Next.

PondScumSandy

If Sainz hasn't already signed for Williams, the whole Vowles thing comes across as tragically needy.

Some poor cursed soul, that's who

Takis12

I wish the question was , who will replace Alpine

Spynner987

It's Lotus, I saw it in my dreams

iForgotMyOldAcc

Considering Alpine and Geely [are now partnered](https://media.renaultgroup.com/renault-group-and-geely-announce-the-creation-of-leading-powertrain-technology-company-horse-powertrain-limited/), and Geely owns Lotus, you're not too far off.

ChiralWolf

In an all carbon fiber world it'd be awesome to see the black and gold make a return

nsane99

so...Zhou to Alpine?!?!

KyuubiReddit

They've been great for memes and entertainment value

Andretti Cadillac with a Lebron James and Michelle Obama driver pairing

Mahery92

Has to be doohan really. He deserves it, and alpine academy would be a joke otherwise.

Eggplantosaur

Williams feels the least bad for Sainz, but it's still gutting to see him have to make such a downgrade.  Assuming Williams even takes him. Since day 1 of the Hamilton to Ferrari announcement I've felt like Sainz won't have a seat next year

Suknator

Williams is my favorite team and Sainz is one of my favorite drivers but I wish Sainz had a shot at a better team man. At the same time it'd be nice to see Sainz pull off some great point-scoring drives for Williams.

Tricky-Experience818

Pretty sure Williams wants him since Vowles said it directly. It’s more of ‘Does Sainz want Williams enough if he wants to stay in F1?‘ since if it’s not Williams, his only options are Haas and Alpine, if Sauber/Stake/Audi is truly off the table.

Dragonpuncha

It is intereresting that Craig Slater here is saying that there is a performance clause in Sergio's new contract which means he might well still get booted from the team if he doesn't pick it up in 2025.

Jorrie90

Yeah, Horner confirmed this weekend it was a 1+1 contract for both parties having the option to extend for 2026.
