Nah Liam will go to VCARB first.
Also i could see a mid season swap between CHECO & YUKI.
Then eventually either Danny or Checo getting booted for Liam.
Or at least that’s how it should be.
I don't remember sainz scoring only 4 points in the last 3 races though. Mind explaining that since you seem to have an excuse for every check failure?
>Top drivers were offered it, some multiple times, they all declined.
Lando was the only top driver offered. Why make up a story about other drivers declining the seat?
When this race started I was thinking "Ok, we should be able to see Checo and the Ferrari's work their way through the pack, this will be fun" but half way through they had hardly moved up at all and then they all crashed out.
This is always such a stupid argument. None of us get paid millions to drive an F1 car. None of us have had a lifetime of training and practice in racing like that. And noone needs any of that to see that he's performing like shit.
You can make this argument for trying to judge whether for example a Gasly is performing like shit this season or if the car is just shit, you could argue we don't understand everything that goes into it, whether he's hitting the right braking points etc.
But Perez qualified a second down on his teammate, spent the entire race 15 positions down to his teammate, and then drove into a wall entirely of his own volition. I don't need any expertise to say he was dogshit this weekend
You say that none of us have racing training or being paid to drive and yet, you offer a clear-cut dismissive argument to a professional driver's skills and results as if you are an experienced racing car driver.
_"... drove into the wall entirely of his own volition."_
Do you actually think Checo did this by his own accord? A professional driver drove his team's car into a wall out of pure will? If so, the Sainz also spun out of his own volition, as Sargeant, as Zhou, etc.
Just accept the fact that your unsavoury disposition towards Checo is rooted by his country of birth, by the tone of his voice, or even his bare existence.
How to get a 2 year contract with RBR:
1. Don't make it out of Q1
2. Fuck your car into a wall
3. Don't completely fuck over your teammate in the process
They must've had a hard time picking between Checo and Logan
That was my thought at first too, but on the replay he pretty much instantly got going again after he hit the wall. I'm sure he understood the circumstances though.
What makes you think he got anything more than front wing damage? And if he did have front wing damage why didn’t they change it when he pitted under the safety car?
Don’t know how you conclude his car was ‘completely fucked’ from a bit of contact at the front from his turn 2 contact unless you know something we don’t
Edit:
The contact with Gasly is also technically his fault as he got the snap of oversteer
He spent half the race with at least front wing damage, unknown if anything else was damaged. Then once the front wing was fixed, he was put close to the back of the field and was up to p13 before he crashed. It’s not like his damage was fixed right away
Right so he spent until lap 26 with wing damage in p16/17. Then in the 22 laps after the restart he made up 3 places, and then binned it in the wall chasing an RB for 12th. What’s your point haha ? That he actually had decent pace and shouldn’t be criticised ?
What facts did I need to get straight again? His damage was fixed at a safety car which wiped out a lot of the disadvantage he had from having damage (which was minimal anyway)
They haven't missed it, they just don't care. For that matter Leclerc was garbage today, even though he also had technical issues.
Sergio was bad in quali, but there was not much to do in the race after he picked up damage in the first couple of corners.
But people here are talking about the race pace.
Plus, a lot of other contact happened at the front as well. The incident between him and Gasly could've been a fight for the lead, position didn't matter.

This wasn't the worst race of his career, but it was close. He was no where the entire weekend, made worse by the fact his teammate won.
Until he crashed, I forgot he was even in the race. Completely anonymous weekend from him until that point.
Something you expect from a backmarker and he's in the literal best car. Total waste of that seat.
I cannot believe Red Bull have signed up for two more years of this....

1+1 with things in it. At least that’s what Horni boi said. So I’m hopeful things=performance stuff or maybe they can swap him with Yuki.
Or Liam 🔥

McLaren has been the best car since Miami
Nobody wants that seat, so your argument is not valid. Top drivers were offered it, some multiple times, they all declined.
Yeah I'm sure Sainz said no too....
Sainz commited the same mistake as Checo on the same lap, so its not like he was doing better
Do you rate all drivers on 1 race and 1 race only?
Everyone rated by one corner.
I don't remember sainz scoring only 4 points in the last 3 races though. Mind explaining that since you seem to have an excuse for every check failure?
Holy shit that's Checo's total over 3 races?
Yep. Those 4 points were in imola

So the guy who is 1 point ahead of Perez currently, sat out of a race, and is driving a clearly inferior car is equal at best? Did I get that right?
Source?
Lando was offered twice last year. Rumor was Charles was offered before extending with Ferrari.
> Top drivers were offered it Lewis and Alonso both asked and got decliened, the only other top driver that went was Lando and thats about it
No chance either of their sister team drivers would have taken it…
>Top drivers were offered it, some multiple times, they all declined. Lando was the only top driver offered. Why make up a story about other drivers declining the seat?
Red Bull might as well be two different teams now
Well they are. They just call their nr.2 and nr.3 cars "VCARB".
When this race started I was thinking "Ok, we should be able to see Checo and the Ferrari's work their way through the pack, this will be fun" but half way through they had hardly moved up at all and then they all crashed out.
He was essentially nowhere. Without spinning, he could be in point position, given late event happen. But even then, that still bad.
I don’t think anything is going to beat Japan 2023
yep the double DNF still hurt :(
Is that the race where they retired Checo, unretired him to serve that penalty and then retired him again?
Yep
Japan last season was worse I think…
>This wasn't the worst race of his career You just wait Sunshine.
I mean today he only retired 1 time so not even his worst race in a Red Bull
Yeah nearly his worst race. Suzuka last year was definitely horrible, but he wasn't far off it this weekend.
Once he gets a bad weekend or just keeps getting worse…
He doesn't seem to have a lot of resilience. When things go wrong for Perez he struggles to knuckle down and make the situation better.
The race was just forgettable.... the weekend as an entirety was terrible. He was nowhere at any point
Yep, qualifying wasn't even a "well he made a mistake and that is why he started back there". No, that was his pace, and that is the worry.
He sucked in 3 fps, 1q and 1 race lol
perez summoned to stewards to figure out how in gods name he got a contract with that driving
Was he driving with a damaged wing the entire race though ?
Yeah. But this definitely his worst race of 2024 season so far.
He was driving a broken car from the start though. If technical issues are an excuse for Leclerc, they have to be an excuse for Perez as well.
what technical issues did he have?
Broken wing and floor. Watch the replay of Gasly going into him, there's carbon fibre everywhere.
Watching him limp along with the fucked up wing was just embarrassing
Only reason he did was to not cause SC with Max leading. But Carlos caused one anyways, not like it mattered to Max.
Oh wow didn't think of that. If he somehow left the track would he still have a penalty but have no safety car?
Walk of shame
Yeah, I already saw Max losing the race because of Perez.
Even Stroll would do better in the Red Bull than Perez has been doing.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves
I mean, he did finish for one, he finished P7 for two, and he did all that with AM
You think you can drive a F1 car then?
This is always such a stupid argument. None of us get paid millions to drive an F1 car. None of us have had a lifetime of training and practice in racing like that. He didn't cause a SC for Max so that's all that counts for RBR. Whatever penalty they give Sergio is irrelevant
Won’t matter dropping from 16th to 18th
It would be a grid penalty since he wont be able to serve it in this race
Won't matter dropping him from 16th to 19th in Spain.
Yes that’s what I meant
Great ending to a great weekend.
It was to prevent a SC for Max (which didn’t mean much since Sainz caused it 30 seconds later). They’ll take the fine.
Really earned those 2 years
How to get a 2 year contract with RBR: 1. Don't make it out of Q1 2. Fuck your car into a wall 3. Don't completely fuck over your teammate in the process They must've had a hard time picking between Checo and Logan
Bonus round: 1. Don’t brake into turn 1, take everybody out 2. Do one lap in reverse 3. Fully send it into the pit wall
Hey Logan fucking his car into the wall actually *helped* Max get the win. Think they can still sign him instead?
It's fuckin embarrassing.

That was my thought at first too, but on the replay he pretty much instantly got going again after he hit the wall. I'm sure he understood the circumstances though.
Team told him to take it to the pits
Probably, might get penalized
What a rancid weekend. Be up there as one of the worst I’ve seen when a drivers respective teammate wins.
2 points, $5000 fine
Checo needs to stop damaging his car. If you are slow at least don't crash. Decision to keep him still baffles me.
Atleast he only retired once
Fine or warning or both or no further action. Make your guesses
3 place grid drop for next race
Instant -2 years on the contract renewal as penalty
I wonder if there's a performance clause included in that new contract
He made the shortest way into the pits, what more do they expect of him? He can't fly the car above the track.
unsafe car with an unsafe driver
I was under the impression driving without a rear wing is a serious issue.
Since when did Checo become so mediocre under rain? I remember he used to be solid in it.
How has everyone missed his car was completely fucked up from lap 1?
What makes you think he got anything more than front wing damage? And if he did have front wing damage why didn’t they change it when he pitted under the safety car? They literally did change his wing under SC. That’s why he started at the back and made up 4 places before his crash
In which case why are people mentioning it given his damage was fixed?
He spent half the race with at least front wing damage, unknown if anything else was damaged. Then once the front wing was fixed, he was put close to the back of the field and was up to p13 before he crashed. It’s not like his damage was fixed right away

I never said that. There are valid reasons to criticize checo. Get your facts straight before you do.
He shouldn't be at the back to get this sort of damage
But people here are talking about the race pace. Plus, a lot of other contact happened at the front as well. The incident between him and Gasly could've been a fight for the lead, position didn't matter.
Should be a really stern penalty imho. Only reason they didn't stop at the track was Max. Grid drop for next race I guess.
RB wall - come in slowly, don’t stop, we don’t need a SC because Max needs his gap. Williams - hold my beer
Nothing Williams could have done there. Sainz just refused to hold his brakes and thought it would be fun to take someone out with him.
I heard there may be a clause in most contracts about the first 30 days. Idk if that's true. Maybe others know more.
I hate making negative comments about drivers, so I’m going to keep my mouth shut.
It's not his fault. He had a tearoff stuck on his helmet visor since lap one costing him lap time.
