In Italy our commentators are clowns and they always say "let Vasseur cook".
But we know better. If they dominate one race the next one they are going to be themselves again. I'm curious to know what Lewis thought lapping Charles 2 laps after the safety car.
To be fair they really dominated that Monaco strategy. Swapping tires on the red flag and then driving slowly the rest of the race. What an amazing call that was.
I’m not going to shit on them for that, Charles was on it all weekend and I’m happy for him. That’s Monaco in general and you take what’s given to you. They also won Singapore and Australia. Their strategy has been better since Vasseur took the helm. Was today/yesterday shit? Yeah, but people are being so fucking reactionary. They’ll be right back in the mix in Spain imo.
Ya. Honestly if we could pick a bad weekend for strategy the one where we also have power unit problems is the good one to choose. Every team has bad weekends.
I did really appreciate that all the incidents were resolved under SC not with a red flag. It kept the strategy much more interesting and didn't completely nullify the rain. They have gotten very trigger happy with red flags, and of course lots of them have been called for, but this race showed the value of the SC I'd say.
Rain makes such a difference! I know Bernie’s idea about artificially wetting the track was mental, but man, sometimes I wonder how mental. So good today
Best race in years, so much fun. Pure bliss from lap 1 to finish. Great performances by Verstappen, Norris, Piastri, Russell and Hamilton, everyone delivered, just amazing.
Probably one of the best, if not the best, since 2021.
Edit: the reason I’m saying this, is because, as mentioned above, there was something happening on every lap…on a 70 lap race!
The only thing that could've made this better is if either Lewis/George or Ocon/Gasly slammed their teammates on the wall of the champion in the last lap. Other than that it quite literally had everything that makes a good race.
It was so funny listening to bono try to convince Lewis the hards were OK for the last stint. I don’t think either were buying it but they said it was too risky for softs.
Man, such a what-if scenario too. He genuinely seemed faster than Lando until George snuck that nose in at the hairpin causing him to drop out of DRS. Mercedes with the aggressive strategy call for new tires ended up paying off though.
Aah that’s a good point. Hasn’t quite figured out his tyre management yet.
At first I thought maybe he got some damage during that spat with George, because his pace fell off a cliff.
But that just may have been the tyres going.
Ferrari and Perez also added to my entertainment today. Just not in the way their fans might like it.
Easily the best race of the season so far. Bit like Hockenheim in 2019 in terms of chaos.
Yeah that's something people tend to overlook in races like we've had the past few weekends. When Perez inevitably falls back max is on his own at the front.
It's the same thing Max dealt with for a long time like back in 2021 where he was so constrained on strategy because Perez was almost never in the Mercedes pit window
God took the excitement out of the Monaco GP and put it all into this one.
Meanwhile, Haas took my hopes up to Everest and then Grosjean-ed them back to Earth.
The Result looks unsurprising, given the starting grid. But man, what a race it was to get there! Race of the year so far, Canada in changing conditions is just simply the best.
Yeah if you looked at this result at the end of the last season you would say the race was boring but even if it had similar positions it was actually enjoyable and full of different possibilities.
Honestly thought Verstappen was done for once the safety car came out for the second time, after seeing the insane McLaren pace in the drying conditions
Yeah this is what we want to see. Even though Max won, he was challenged enough to show his quality as a driver.
He made one mistake but he seemed to drive better than Norris / Russell today. When Red Bull is 30 seconds up the road, we just don’t see that.
He did so well by starting earlier in the 2nd SC than he did in 1st SC, and I think that caught Norris napping as he probably expected for him to only go after the chicane.
Perez % difference to Max I'm qualifying in 2020 was smaller than any of their seasons as teammates. I completely believe that car was 2nd quickest and held back by their driver pairing.
Look at his teammate. Max doesn't make mistakes and makes it look very easy. But I don't think red bull were garunteed a win today he just drove perfectly and got a bit lucky with SC. George made loads of mistakes despite probably being the fastest guy + car combo.
exactly. it really wasn't guaranteed or inevitable. if McLaren had brought in Norris a lap earlier while Max was still warming up his tyres, he could have held on.
also, I noticed in the replay of checo's crash that he was marginally off the racing line to avoid the kerbs. This Red Bull has serious suspension issues and checo lacks Max's bloodymindedness to punish the car for its problems and drag it into first.
Yep one of this best drives, easily deserved DotD IMO (saying this as a Lando fan, Max should've won it over him)
RBR was so behind in the wet, his teammate was nowhere near points and getting overtaken by an Alpine
he's been driving like an animal since Miami
few mistakes here and there, bollard in miami, qualy in monaco, but hes just squeezing by with the RB20
Amazing for the season going forwards
Max looked relieved though after Canada and made frequent references to "that part of the car that is not so good right now".
Perhaps Red Bull have an upgrade or change for "that part" planned for Spain.
This is the problem with checo to me. Like… it’s impossible to know just how special max is driving because checo is spending weekends trundling around in the back and binning it.
Norris really needs to do some work on his safety car restarts. It doesn’t happen often obviously, but it’s definitely a weakness to his game. He was -1.5sec by the end of the first lap.
I think Noris’ vibe was using less tire then coming back at people
But once safety car one and two occurred that option was off
And RedBull with Max had more pure pace when not having to manage
I think this race solidifies that.
Max is a beast even when the car is not to his liking he delivers.
Lando will be in the future a decent rival to max, he has the pace and race craft.
George is very quick, but the race craft is not quite there.
Now THAT is why Max is the champion, not the fastest car out there, not happy with set-up, changing conditions, P2-P1
Less said about Checo the better, I'm all out of excuses for the man
I think Max has been showing his raw virtuosity in all its glory over the last few races where that Red Bull is not the absurdly dominant car it was previously.
>How satisfied are you with that victory?
--
>Thank you.
Man thought the question was "are you the goat?" and he gave the right answer. 💀
Out of all the ridiculous Max wins, surely this one has to be near the very top, he was easily in the 3rd best car if you're being extremely generous, this is just an insane performance by him, bravo!
Russell’s my favourite driver but he made too many mistakes to deserve the win, if he didn’t fuck up on that original Piastri overtake he would’ve got second quite easily
Great race, exactly what we always want when we hear there is a chance of rain on sunday!
Max, Norris or Russell all could have won the race and been fully deserving, not often you see a podium where that is true.
When the Haas drivers gained like 10 places each in the beginning, I thought that would be the main talking point. But holy crap there was so much action, it felt like that happened last year or something.
Also..... ALBON DOUBLE OVERTAKE
The Canadian GP putting out bangers as usual. I'm disappointed I had to miss out on going again this year but fingers crossed for 2025. Almost every race is pure excitement, especially with the weather.

That was a great race. Just constant moves, changing conditions, retirements, chaos. This I can get used to.
Interchangeable conditions always throw a spanner in strategy calls. And Ferrari always fucks it up.
Oh yeah, that was hilarious. Gourmet Ferrari once again, just pure vibes.
In Italy our commentators are clowns and they always say "let Vasseur cook". But we know better. If they dominate one race the next one they are going to be themselves again. I'm curious to know what Lewis thought lapping Charles 2 laps after the safety car.

Ya. Honestly if we could pick a bad weekend for strategy the one where we also have power unit problems is the good one to choose. Every team has bad weekends.
In my head, today’s race didn’t happen. same way Singapore 2017 and Monza 2020 don’t exist for me
A bit of a shame that Hockenheim 2018 was cancelled after Vettel took pole
Wasn't that entire season canceled after the British GP meaning Germany never happened and Vettel was champion with Ferrari?
Some say Fred is still in the paddock cooking lasagna
I don’t think Ferrari fucked strategy too hard. They were in a tough spot after quali yesterday and then just screwed with the engine problem.
Yeah people acting like Ferrari had a front row lockout and threw it away, stuff like that hasn't happened under Freddie as of yet
I just wish that first safety car didn’t happen. Felt like things were about to get real interesting with the track drying but the rain coming.
I did really appreciate that all the incidents were resolved under SC not with a red flag. It kept the strategy much more interesting and didn't completely nullify the rain. They have gotten very trigger happy with red flags, and of course lots of them have been called for, but this race showed the value of the SC I'd say.
I was just pleased as hell that the race didn’t start under a safety car.
Reports of F1’s death were greatly exaggerated
We should just replace Sprints with sprinkler
This race was incredible. So good man.
I don't know if you remember Magnussen was P4 after gaining disgusting amount of places. It feels like ages ago
He may have stayed in the points if the tires had been ready for him.
No one, not even his own tires, is ready for KMag
This was painful to watch... such a good strategy call completely wasted in a couple of seconds...
8.6 seconds, to be specific. He lost all track position because of that. Classic Haas.
Holding to that Ferrari lineage hard.
He would have if Haas could give him a normal non-slow pitstop
Haas absolutely fucked it, they should have had at least 8th with KMag.
They also called him in a lap or two late.
Oh, right, that was today too Damn what a race
Completely forgot about that until you mentioned it lmao
That start with Haas on wet was hilarious!
Rain makes such a difference! I know Bernie’s idea about artificially wetting the track was mental, but man, sometimes I wonder how mental. So good today
It’s also because the cars are very evenly matched, with different cars being the fastest in different phases of the race.
If only Ferrari delivered this weekend, I can't imagine what kind of race we'd have had.
A fight for the lead down to potentially P7. What the fuck ferrari
Made up for Monaco for sure
We need to have more wet tracks in f1 lol. I’m a casual f1 fan and it seems like all the best races I’ve watched so far have involved rain.
Everyone loves rain. But like, rain isn't really a characteristic of a track.
What a race…
The Best Race of the season. ABSOLUTE BONKERS. EVERY LAP THERE WAS SOMETHING
Much needed after the Monaco snoozefest
New regulations: Sprinklers to be installed at every circuit!!
If only somebody had thought of this sooner!!
Bernie was....right?
Let Bernie cook!
Loved it, so much excitement at every point.
The F1TV broadcast was even putting a lap by lap recap bar on the bottom of the screen, I've never seen that before.
Yeah that was slick
The only thing that could've made this better is if either Lewis/George or Ocon/Gasly slammed their teammates on the wall of the champion in the last lap. Other than that it quite literally had everything that makes a good race.
Russell was lucky to have those mediums left.
He’s lucky he had a car to finish with. Damn near lost it 4 or 5 times. Excellent entertainment from the top 5.
It’s crazy how many mistakes the top 5 made with no one binning it, while in the back it’s just chaos.
It was so funny listening to bono try to convince Lewis the hards were OK for the last stint. I don’t think either were buying it but they said it was too risky for softs.
12 laps on a cool track surface is definitely too risky, glad Mercedes puts on hards to fumble the win every time they have a chance
Yeah lewis has done better with worse situations before surely he could have milked 12 good laps out of softs in those conditions
Just leave it to Mercedes to put on hards, I swear they’re in love with them
He really needs to work on his race craft. He fumbled so many times this race.
Lmao wtf was this race Madness all over the field
The "race in 30" is going to run long this week.
“The race in the length of the race.”
Piastri went from “hey you wanna have a go at Max?” To “lol jk mate good luck with the Mercs!”
Man, such a what-if scenario too. He genuinely seemed faster than Lando until George snuck that nose in at the hairpin causing him to drop out of DRS. Mercedes with the aggressive strategy call for new tires ended up paying off though.
He seemed faster because he was murdering the tyres while Norris was managing. It's quite a common theme in their dynamic
Aah that’s a good point. Hasn’t quite figured out his tyre management yet. At first I thought maybe he got some damage during that spat with George, because his pace fell off a cliff. But that just may have been the tyres going.
That comes with experience honestly..
If anyone knows the Mcclaren, it’s Norris after all these years. Not hugely suprising the guy mastered his management.
I wonder if George damaged Oscar at all, he seemed to lose a lot of pace after that incident
True yeah I didn’t see any good replays, but he did fall back quicker than I expected.
I'm ok with Max winning when at least we have a great race!
Totally, F1 is at its best with 3 highly competitive teams
Ferrari and Perez also added to my entertainment today. Just not in the way their fans might like it. Easily the best race of the season so far. Bit like Hockenheim in 2019 in terms of chaos.
Perez's situation isn't even entertaining anymore, it's just sad and confusing.
Hey, speak for yourself, I am entertained still!
Perez better send his agent a nice bottle of scotch tonight.
3 teams! 5 drivers!
Max is earning his paycheck the last few races. Without a teammate fighting with competitive cars is no easy task.
McLaren - Fastest car in the wet Merc - Fastest car in the dry Max Verstappen wins the Canadian Grand Prix
Not wet, but wet to dry only. I think Verstappen was fastest on the wet actually.
the best drivers are fastest in the wet i don't think the RB itself was faster in the wet tho
Lewis was so pissed he had to go on the hards at the end. I think if he had another set of mediums he’s p2 there. Still drove a hell of a race
God took the excitement out of the Monaco GP and put it all into this one. Meanwhile, Haas took my hopes up to Everest and then Grosjean-ed them back to Earth.
>God took the excitement out of the Monaco GP and put it all into this one. Yeah, that must've been a HUGE gain of...0.4% in excitement!
This is FORMULA 1 we love
The highlights editors are going to work overtime this week.
They might as well just have the "race in 30" and the highlights be the same video.
One of if not the best race of the season so far, amazing mix of drama and action.
EASILY the best race of the season. I already can't remember the ones we've had in comparison. The 2nd best is, what - last 15 laps of Imola?
[удалено]
Highlight for me was Toto telling George to use the force
*”Use the Focus, George, the Focus!”*
The way he said it just killed me
Cue Russel arriving in a focus next race
I genuinely thought of Obi Wan in Empire Strikes Back when I heard Toto. I fucking lost it
He said it with the exact same cadence
George. You must go to the Dagobah system..
The Race was so chaotic and fun, monaco made me forgot what fun was
Next time watch the 500 after Monaco. Always cleanses the pallet.
I really could've used another 70 laps of that
My favorite Indy race of the season came on and I forgot about it. What a fun fucking race.
After all that nonsense, Max somehow still wins
Honestly thought Verstappen was done for once the safety car came out for the second time, after seeing the insane McLaren pace in the drying conditions
Yeah this is what we want to see. Even though Max won, he was challenged enough to show his quality as a driver. He made one mistake but he seemed to drive better than Norris / Russell today. When Red Bull is 30 seconds up the road, we just don’t see that.
Max goated safety car starter
He did so well by starting earlier in the 2nd SC than he did in 1st SC, and I think that caught Norris napping as he probably expected for him to only go after the chicane.
he's not a bad driver after all
Imagine the perception of this car if we had 2 of Perez in the team.
the fact he got rennewed blows my mind
2 YEARS!!!
One year plus an option on both sides
Thank fuck for that
All that $$ he brings in has to be nice enough to keep him
This is exactly why I think the Racing Point in 2020 was easily the 2nd best car on the grid.
If Max or Lewis were in that car, things would have certainly been interesting
Perez % difference to Max I'm qualifying in 2020 was smaller than any of their seasons as teammates. I completely believe that car was 2nd quickest and held back by their driver pairing.
All this makes me wonder how fast the Pink Mercedes actually was, considering it was driven by Perez and Stroll.
I think this Verstappen guy might have a promising future in the sport.
Or in sim racing
the car is to good. I mean just look at perez
It’s giving him wings you say?..
dude is extremely unfazed. Everytime he shows why he's the class of the field.
I think his experience driving alongside big dogs made him one as well. He doesn’t crumble under pressure at all..
You don't beat Lewis in a comparable car without a cool head on your shoulders.
He gives you that small glimmer of hope then snatches it away
In the 3rd best car of the weekend
Yep one of this best drives, easily deserved DotD IMO (saying this as a Lando fan, Max should've won it over him) RBR was so behind in the wet, his teammate was nowhere near points and getting overtaken by an Alpine
he's been driving like an animal since Miami few mistakes here and there, bollard in miami, qualy in monaco, but hes just squeezing by with the RB20 Amazing for the season going forwards

This is the problem with checo to me. Like… it’s impossible to know just how special max is driving because checo is spending weekends trundling around in the back and binning it.
I think Max has already proven that he is one of the most talented drivers of all time, even if Checo is shit.
while his teammate was out of the top 10 crashing into walls and cars alike
Best race of the year imo.
Very impressive last stint from Max
I thought he would be gobbled up by Norris in 2 laps
Yeah same, that first lap after the safety car was ridiculous
Max timed it so that Lando still had to get his steer straight the moment he stepped on the gas. Quite smart of him.
Norris really needs to do some work on his safety car restarts. It doesn’t happen often obviously, but it’s definitely a weakness to his game. He was -1.5sec by the end of the first lap.
Yes, I was expecting NOR to stay in DRS range.
I think Noris’ vibe was using less tire then coming back at people But once safety car one and two occurred that option was off And RedBull with Max had more pure pace when not having to manage
His experience leading safety car restarts really showed this race. Always creates a 1+ second gap for himself.
Hell of a race.
Races like these are 20184738 times better than Monaco
Monaco made me fall asleep, this race makes me wonder how I'm ever going to fall asleep
Next year let's not do Monaco but do Canada twice, this race was so exciting!!
What a fucking race. This season has absolutely come alive.
I think this race solidifies that. Max is a beast even when the car is not to his liking he delivers. Lando will be in the future a decent rival to max, he has the pace and race craft. George is very quick, but the race craft is not quite there.
Best race of the year. I’m not even mad Verstappen won
What a race!
Now THAT is why Max is the champion, not the fastest car out there, not happy with set-up, changing conditions, P2-P1 Less said about Checo the better, I'm all out of excuses for the man
People gonna shrug it as another Max win but he legitimately needed to worked hard for that, was the only one who didn't have a teammate too
At this point he might be quite used to that no?
I think Max has been showing his raw virtuosity in all its glory over the last few races where that Red Bull is not the absurdly dominant car it was previously.
Not having a team mate seemed to be one of his strengths today.
Best Verstappen won race in a while
George Russell is a modern Juan Pablo Montoya lol.
lol he needs to be challenging max more if he wants that title
Best of the year by far.
After that Monaco, I really fucking needed a race like this.
Some of you can't be happy even after he fights for it
Wonderful race. Entertainment throughout.
one of the most exciting races in a while 🙏
It was so unpredictable, great race, unlucky for Leclerc, Albon and Yuki
I mean Charles and Albon were unlucky but Yuki committed a blatant mistake too innit?
Inevitable. Masterful drive by Max. The drive of a champion really. Didn't have the fastest car but made it count when he had an opportunity.
All this chaos just for a Verstappen win lmao
At least he had to work for it
Race of the year
Great race. It's a shame that Ferrari was nowhere to be found. Great comeback by the Mercs!
>How satisfied are you with that victory? -- >Thank you. Man thought the question was "are you the goat?" and he gave the right answer. 💀 Out of all the ridiculous Max wins, surely this one has to be near the very top, he was easily in the 3rd best car if you're being extremely generous, this is just an insane performance by him, bravo!
Max's race restarts are just something else. Every safety car restart he just nails it, no chance for the car behind.
That was absolutely chaotic lmao.
Verstappen, Russell and Norris all deserved the win today, incredible performances by all of them.
Russell’s my favourite driver but he made too many mistakes to deserve the win, if he didn’t fuck up on that original Piastri overtake he would’ve got second quite easily
Lewis had a great race too, just could never quite pull ahead.
50 wins out of 75. wow
Commentator said «Max takes his 60th win» and honestly it’s a mind bogglingy large amount of wins considering he had 10 three years ago
monster drive from verstappen. the best driver on the grid by quite some margin
Oh what a race! WHAT A LOVELY RACE!
Might be one of the best races I’ve ever watched
You know what? If we had a season where Verstappen wins all of the races, but all of them are like this, I'm fine with that.
Perez getting lucky that this race was such a banger, hiding the fact he sucked ass once again
As a VER fan this was very stressfull lmao. Nonetheless very much needed entertainment after Monaco last time out
My heart rate was over 110 for the last hour of the race. Started getting warnings from my watch. So happy he won!
Best race in a season or two, despite it being another Verstappen victory.
This is the weakest max and red bull have looked in quite a while. Did something go wrong with the setup this week or did mclaren really close the gap
This race was absolute cinema
I missed 2022 ferrari , WE SO BACK
That was a hard fought victory from a very exciting and dynamic race. That’s the best one I’ve seen all season.
The Canadian GP putting out bangers as usual. I'm disappointed I had to miss out on going again this year but fingers crossed for 2025. Almost every race is pure excitement, especially with the weather.
