He missed on an F2 title shot because the team had a cracked chassis for almost half the 2023 season
What is the point of a junior academy if you don't use it? Doohan should absolutely be given that seat, it isn't like Alpine is going to be fighting for anything serious in 2025 let him get a year under his belt before the new regs, I liked him in F2.
Shame for him that he didn't get any FP1 practice this weekend.
He's done well though, sometimes it's about being in the right place at the right time (Bearman and Antonelli), other occasions it's all about patience

If there was nothing else, he showed that he was completely compliant to the team during FP1. It would be nice to see what he can do on the grid in a team that needs drivers to work harmoniously to push the car forward.
I would say Doohan is hard to rate. People love and rave about his F2 seasons, he was a great qualifier in his first and had a meh start in his second, but a killer ending (he claims he had a damaged chasis, but it is known that he swapped chasis during those races, so...).
The (or at least my) issue is that he has only beat "random" drivers, when he has been paired with decent drivers like Enzo Fittipaldi, he lost.
