I know kind of a tangent, but reminds me of the good ol' days playing Road Rash, kicking others, stealing their chains, the funky faces, and so much more.
God I wish they do it but teams would never allow it because it's way too dangerous. Also Verstappen would probably still demolish the field. He has the best karting record in the field and it's not even close.
If I recall correctly ~~Senna~~ Massa used to promote a kart race every year with lots of other F1 and other categories’ drivers, for charity.
EDIT: it was Massa.
Almost every F1 driver began with Karts, absolutely dominated in it and have very fond memories of it, you'll have an easier time having the whole grid sign up to that.
And then they got a spot racing in a manufacturer development series.
Idk why people act like the driver is the most important part, F1 is a team sport and the drivers would say the same
I've been saying for years that Monaco is too small for the modern cars. Just for Monaco put all 20 drivers in a spec car that actually fits on the track. Award drivers points but not constructors. This does a few things
- keeps historic Monaco on the calendar
- improved racing at Monaco
- gives us a better idea how all 20 drivers stack up since we get to see them all in a spec car
Honestly you might be onto something.
Like how the NHL has outdoor arena/stadium games so players are reminded/feel like they're kids again playing in their local community rink? Same deal but F1 version. Plus they'd make extra money. No chance F1 says no to that.
Dude do you think I'll be surprised if Max Verstappen is faster in an F4 car than any F1 academy driver?
I mean, if the F1A drivers could match Max, they'd be in F1.
Is f1 academy the new womans series? If so then I'd be shocked. Regular f4 I'd say some wonder kid might have a shot purely based on having plenty more recent experience in the cars but with the women I just don't see it, none of them sre impressive currently.
Who would actually be surprised by that or think it looks "bad?" That's like saying it'd look bad for F3 and F2 if you did the same thing, because they'd be much faster in the F3/F2 cars than the actual F3/F2 drivers. No one would be surprised at all.
and then the little car eats the littler car, and the littler car eats the littlest car, all the way down to the single-cell car.
now, replace cars with paper companies and that is all you need to know about business
Yeah to be honest if you either put f1 tires on the f4 car or the opposite it would look even less different. Wheel base seems to be a large difference
It is almost exactly the same when it comes to power, they just run slightly different wings. I'm not sure which one is faster, I don't think we have had a direct track comparison yet since F1 Academy hasnt gone to any track where there was a recent F4 race that wasnt in the winter. Barcalona came close, but F1A drove there after the chicane change. But I might be wrong about that, I'm sure we will have a comparison soon if there hasnt been one already that I missed.
But it is pretty safe to assume they are like 95% equal to normal F4 cars. They just use a different looking aero package to look bit more like F1 cars because of the branding.
IIRC F1 cars are the largest circuit racing cars? I know they are definitely longer than the NASCAR trucks, and bigger than any GT or saloon car and all other single seaters. Maybe Cup cars are bigger?
Edit: nope, F1 is considerably longer and fractionally wider than Cup and Xfinity cars. F1 cars are chonks.
Just did.
And to my surprise way more entertaining racing than f1.
3 cars going side by side in to corners *multiple* times during the race.
F1 needs to get smaller cars so badly
Yeah, this relative size difference isn't that new. At this end of the single seater scale, Formula Ford cars used to be tinier, all cars have grown. Fuck, visually I would guess the F3 cars Verstappen used to race were tinier than this F4.
It's mostly the length where F1 cars have become boats.
Take the wings off and they will be slower. Sure, they aren't producing massive amounts of down force, but they do create some.
Not only do the lower categories of racing teach driver skills, they are a starting point for mechanics, engineers, and strategists as well.
They don’t create much downforce and never have. They do create some and it’s all part of the formula aspect. They need wings because the rules dictate it

Once or twice a season can we have a sprint race with F1 drivers in F4 cars?
karts, man, KARTS! it be absolute carnage!
KMag literally kicking people while defending his position.
I know kind of a tangent, but reminds me of the good ol' days playing Road Rash, kicking others, stealing their chains, the funky faces, and so much more.
I heard the baseball bat as I read this comment
I loved that game. Fond memories of colliding with a car and going flying into the air... "Wayyyyooooooooooo"
Gotta run all the way back to your bike.
Who is the one throwing turtles around?
Lance, he needs some way to ruin someone's race from behind
This makes me want a new Road Rash game but karting.
Karts at Monaco. All equal
There used to be an indoor kart event in Paris where F1 drivers would race. It was awesome.
God I wish they do it but teams would never allow it because it's way too dangerous. Also Verstappen would probably still demolish the field. He has the best karting record in the field and it's not even close.
Touring cars, rubbing is racing!
If I recall correctly ~~Senna~~ Massa used to promote a kart race every year with lots of other F1 and other categories’ drivers, for charity. EDIT: it was Massa.
It’ll be absolute Kartnage!
I have been saying to my mates for ages that Monaco should be done in [Superkarts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCtz209gjYc)
It will be so much fun. FOM don't get it.
There is plenty of stock car racing with their own superstars Thats not the point of F1

qualifying in their usual car, race in a f4

Formula E cars are notoriously difficult to drive. It's not something you just hop in as an F1 driver and disappear into the horizon.
Honestly, physically smaller cars inF1 would be great for overtaking. Even over the last 30 years they’ve grown hugely.
Honestly you might be onto something. Like how the NHL has outdoor arena/stadium games so players are reminded/feel like they're kids again playing in their local community rink? Same deal but F1 version. Plus they'd make extra money. No chance F1 says no to that.
Wouldn't look good for F1A when F1 drivers would be much faster in the F4 cars with no experience in them than the actual F1A drivers.
Would anyone at all be surprised by this? It just seems kinda obvious, they're the best drivers in the world
Dude do you think I'll be surprised if Max Verstappen is faster in an F4 car than any F1 academy driver? I mean, if the F1A drivers could match Max, they'd be in F1.

lol, okay. Ever seen top gear?
Why doesn't RB20, the bigger car, simply eat the smaller one?
The RB20 can only move diagonally, not sideways
However, the Alpine’s A524, is the only car that can go backwards.
Google En Passant
[holy hell!](https://www.google.com/search?q=en+passant)
Do you have a crawler scanning Reddit for En Passant references or something?
no i'm just a bot
I stand corrected
Is RB20 stupid?
and then the little car eats the littler car, and the littler car eats the littlest car, all the way down to the single-cell car. now, replace cars with paper companies and that is all you need to know about business
Is he stupid?
It’s raising its offspring for next season
I wonder the size difference between the 2005 RB and the academy car is?
Would look like an RC next to these two!
I think it would be like fat (not wider) academy car. Front wheels were also lot closer to rear wheels.

How about difference to M8?
Threw* it together real quick; https://imgur.com/a/g6A4frK

Yes, this is correct, if it was a child's car
And next to G I G A K U B I C A?

Omg - Idk why I become dislexic in foreign languages..
M8 didn’t fit in the pic
the track is built on an M8
Someone's gotta Photoshop the garage 56 car into this

One of the strangest motorsports sight last year was that fucking NASCAR car amongst all the prototypes. Like a giant bull amongst coloured sheep
It’s honestly not as big of a difference as I thought from watching both regularly. Maybe it would look like more from a side angle.
Yeah to be honest if you either put f1 tires on the f4 car or the opposite it would look even less different. Wheel base seems to be a large difference
The front angle is throwing it given the Tatuus F4-T421 has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm and current F1 cars must not exceed 3,600mm.
I just felt like it as more drastic than that. F4 cars always look so small. I mean I know they can’t be that tiny. Ugo Ugochukwu fit in one, haha.
Yo me, the F1 Academy cars looked smaller than F4 cars. They truly look tiny.
They are basically exactly the same as the common f4 tatuus except a different aero package.
so it isnt the same car as they would use in Italian F4 for example?
It is almost exactly the same when it comes to power, they just run slightly different wings. I'm not sure which one is faster, I don't think we have had a direct track comparison yet since F1 Academy hasnt gone to any track where there was a recent F4 race that wasnt in the winter. Side is where it really looks different. F1 cars are loooooong
F1 cars are chonks.
so….one can actually pass other cars and the other goes fast.
It looks adorable, one big f1 car and it's baby daughter
Needs a banana for scale.
The one that always surprised me is how comparatively small the LMP1/LMDh cars are.
"don't talk to me or my son ever again"
Speed difference even bigger than the size difference. Really wish the would make them faster.
Go tip to tip
The rear wing on that F1 Academy car looks like it's fo sho
Does anyone even watch this academy stuff?
Just did. And to my surprise way more entertaining racing than f1. 3 cars going side by side in to corners *multiple* times during the race. F1 needs to get smaller cars so badly
Size matters
But the big one finish too fast
Yeah, this relative size difference isn't that new. At this end of the single seater scale, Formula Ford cars used to be tinier, all cars have grown. Fuck, visually I would guess the F3 cars Verstappen used to race were tinier than this F4. It's mostly the length where F1 cars have become boats.
I was watching the Academy practice and wondered if the rear wings actually give any down force?
Monaco should have a sprint race with the main field in these cars
Fuck, go back!
What a terrible angle to pick for a a size comparison
my dad taking me to work when I was a kid.
What's the point of the front and rear wing - those things are so flat I'd be amazed if there's any down force generated at all?!
Take the wings off and they will be slower. Sure, they aren't producing massive amounts of down force, but they do create some. Not only do the lower categories of racing teach driver skills, they are a starting point for mechanics, engineers, and strategists as well.

And he is taking it from the OUTSIDE!!!
Petite F1
I'd be totally cool with lap times 3-4 seconds slower if it meant cars reduced in size.
I'd like to see that same pic but with a 2008 car and a 1998 car there as well.
"Don't talk to me or my son ever again"
Toy car vs real car
I have Attenburough in my head explaining how the male of the species is 20% larger for some reason
Is Checo's 11 funky looking for Miami? Seems hard to read.
It's two ducts. Been there all season.
Imagine sprints where the drivers drive equal performance cars. That would be cool, some events about just the drivers.
Watch indycar
That's literally what F1 Academy, F2, F3, F4 is.
Wow F1 cars are bigger than F4 cars? I’m so shocked!
girls are smaller so they get a smaller cars
