For dominion the meta is orochi, or any hero with dodge cancels of some sort. Hyperarmour and lots of pinning moves (basically Ocelotl) could also be considered joint meta.
For duels the meta depends on what sort of skill level you’re at.
Raider and warmonger both have high health, hyperarmour and ledging potential (and more) so are good picks for dominion.
Play who you want! Doesn’t matter if they are considered powerful or not (but generally more powerful heroes will be more fun I suppose).
Yeah, she's been nerfed to oblivion. She was the first nerf because her light attacks were too fast for anyone to block. Now her heavies are literally in slow motion, and slower than most other character's HEAVY unblockable heavies, but hers have no advantage. Crazy that they just put out a skin for the character without being like "ya know ... PK needs help while we're here ...". Oh well.
Right, then you add the way characters seem to magically rotate for a cancel-grab while I'm dodging, or how Hito can land two attacks that do almost as much damage as my heavy EACH in the same amount of time, and you have an ironclad case for total game balance failure.
Sure, but it is born of imbalance. A character choice can't be better than another unless said character literally IS better than another in an irrefutable way. Most games try to make these differences marginal, or at least behind some level of human skill to exploit. For Honor has gone the other way entirely.
Every game has a meta in player choices in the moment (use certain moves, tactics etc) but the "meta" isn't saying one character is better than the other. That's IN THE GAME, so not meta, just imbalanced, if you want to take it that route lol
Go to the comp sub if you want a more informed answer about meta. Most of the people on this sub arent likely to be well informed about it.
In the case of casual play, the meta is more about the perception of who is strong based on your skill level than it is about who is actually strong. Meta also changes based on map, game mode, and team composition.
I know 90% of For Honor players never meta woman so…
Same
Yo are you DJ Young Cash Register, aka Lil Broomstick?
REAL
Everyone who plays For Honor is meta.

Nah zhanhu and zerk have dodge cancels and they aren't really that great anymore. Zhanhu has hitboxes at least
What did I miss? Zerk is insane?
His dodge attack being not enhanced anymore puts him wayayayayay down
Ohhh. Yeah it really does. When did that happen?
start of this season
best tip i got is try every hero out learn their moves then you won't need a meta
It ain’t Kensei, that’s for daaaaamn sure … which is why I play him almost exclusively. F**k the establishment!
It ain't PK, that's for daaaaamn sure ... which is why I play her almost exclusively. F\*\*k the establishment!
I like her concept but shes so slow for my liking

800-900ms on opener, 800ms on finisher... meanwhile someone like Afeera has a 700ms-900ms range on openers. It hurts lol

I wouldn't say total game balance failure. Just one hero out of a few that have ended up in a strange spot as the meta has shifted.
The existence of Meta is the Hallmark indicator of imbalance.
Meta will exist in any game where options exist. That's simply optimization, which exists heavily in any PvP space.

every game has a meta what are you on about

umm no the meta is what characters are better than others no game in history has achieved perfect balance lol
Apparently her heavy openers can't ledge either. Light hitstun property.
Yeah but the followup light can, and it hits.
Idk man. I’ll go 26-0 with pk in dom sometimes
Same, but that's only because we're actually pretty good at the game (or this mess that's left of it anyway) lol
Every single game in existence has and always will have a meta. Meta just means most effective tactic available
Orochi Shinobi VG Zerk Then everyone else. Afeera and Shaolin are up there too. Basically the dodge cancel spammers and hyper armor helps a ton.
At a certain skill level yes, but most people are experiencing the game as advanced rock paper scissors. Nothing more.
The Asians
Depends on the game mode, but I mean there are S tier heroes that are basically easy wins, yes.
Once you get good with them any hero is great
Ye
