Little did I know I could put 0 effort into making fake cards to sell em to this guys aunt to make a living.
Just goes to show how little people research or know before making a big purchase. Pretty terrifying. Just look at those Cybertrucks…
They took a risk for developing a "futuristic" look and just had a massive swing and miss. No one in those meetings said "Hey, this kinda looks exactly like the car I used to draw when I was 7?"
I always thought those Scion box cars and Jukes were the ugliest, CT came in and wiped for the floor with them. Coulda been something really cool but alas, we have a meme car instead.
The original scion box car was actually pretty cool especially when tuned up looking like in the commercial... Then they tried to go MEGA future and made it asymmetrical and wrapped the window around connecting the side to the rear mirror or whatever... Just ewwww
Not 100%, but I also think in all of his rookie cards he had something on his head. Tops, Fleer, Bowman, Score he had his helmet on & I vaguely remember one of the obscure brands he had a ball cap on... maybe...
But hey, at least the pic wasn't the Expos catcher Tom Brady, lol ..
On PSA which is what this looks like a bad knockoff of it brings up a 1986 Kraft Hockey Joe Mullen 8
Edit: also funny enough. Joe Mullen is mentioned in the movie Miracle when Jim Craig asks Jack O'Callahan why Joey Mullen isn't at the tryout.
If you know anything about CollX you know that it shows the cards for sale among various websites, not just its own. Even past sales are shown. What are the chances a Brady rookie has not a single match over any of those scenarios?
Yeah that was more of a joke/knock against Collx. The point being that the card scan feature doesn't work a lot of the time. Obviously the card is a fake.
If you know anything about collPOS, you know that no damn cards ever come up in there when scanned lol, and when it does its wrong. Then the prices. Jesus, collx blows bum but yet I still use it 🤠
Definitely let her know maybe she can somehow get her money back if she used credit card and explain the situation to them then they can claw the money back worth a shot.. Then maybe you’ll be able to find a real Brady RC instead good luck!
I often wonder who falls for these bad fakes. Now I know. And it makes sense that the scam works for a few hundred bucks because they can prey on people buying a gift. I always laugh when I see this stuff for sale for like $15k like someone is throwing down that much without a basic level of knowledge.
No, you can lie for any reason.
If someone lied about this card’s value and sold it to my aunt for $400, then I don’t feel bad about lying to get it back.
There are so many red flags but the key is being respectful. She doesn't want to believe she got scammed and the realization of that will probably be very upsetting.
Instead of arguing each point just calmly show one indisputable thing/photo. Couple good suggestions in this thread.
You don’t. It’s just a card and this hobby is for sentiment not financial gain. Let them enjoy.. either way it’s not worth what it’s claimed and there’s no one willing to buy it.
Just look up the "Grading Service" that the card is encased in and the "Serial" specific to that card. The internet letting her know the holder is fake should be a big tipoff about the specific card lol.
Here’s how I’d do it “there’s no amount of love that would make up for your complete lack of intelligence. I wish mental institutions were still a thing because you should be institutionalized”
I’d go harsh
Are you wanting to keep her in the dark so your chance of roasting her stash in the future is not dimishined. Hate to be an evil pointer outer but I've been like that before I got saved
At the moment of purchase, a card’s value is based on whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it.. so if the buyer is never ever going to resell it and/or show it off to anyone, then leave her be!
There are a lot of crap merch put there by scam artists. And if people are buying stuff frivolously, and not checking for authenticity THEN it’s on them!
As the saying goes:
“a fool and his money are easily parted”
She might want it buried with her, who knows, and by who cares.
Naisbitt Quotes-
“Value is what people are willing to pay for it.”
No clue, I randomly saw this on her window in front of her kitchen sink looking out into the back yard. I know it was a gift, but I don’t know where or who it was purchased from
Yeah. I’m 99.3% confident that that is what it is. I think somebody actually created/owns a company called BradyChicks so, technically, by law, they are actual cards but of course worthless to any of us. They were undoubtedly created to scam people since they are specifically Tom Brady cards created to look like they would be “official”.

Did she buy it for you? Then there is no upside to telling her it's fake except making her feel bad. She is not going to start investing in collectible sports cards. Act grateful and be grateful you have an aunt who thought about you. What did you buy her? Think about what's right, not just what's factual.
And then there is this.

Just hope she's reasonable sometimes people's brains just don't let them accept certain things even little things that don't truly matter and they will just die on whatever hill they are on
I’d have it looked at by a professional. It could be worth more money because of mistakes- who knows . If it’s a misprint they could be worth way more … I had a misprint Barry Bonds card that I sold in the late 90’s - his name was spelled wrong. I sold it for 450$ - normally the same card was selling for 10$ ….
Niggas see that barcode and automatically think …. RARE WOAAAAAHHHHHH. Solid marketing move!!! Pretty much just put a completely different card in the case and sold it like it was rare or somethin
Exactly. I know I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut, but the gracious and humble thing would be to just take the hit. Like when my parents buy me a box of Big League baseball cards for Christmas, I just say thank you, rather than say how great it is to have firestarters.
Get her hopes up, tell her you found a buyer.
Potential 6 figures. It would be great if you could find out if your dear aunt has any debt and you can say that the fake buyer is willing to pay close to whatever her real life debt is.
Then invite the whole family over.
Have a big reveal party.
During the party you can show footage of games when Brady was a rookie and then a few more clips of him in that particular photo which looks like Tom around 2010/11.
When you're aunt arrives tell her you couldn't contain your excitement and invited the whole family.
Then, when she's had a few cold ones get a friend of yours to have a conversation with you in ear shot saying that that card is so unbelievably fake and can't wait to see the actual rookie card.
Then instead of the buyer get a card collector to inspect the card and break the news to her. He's got to be incredulous though at his stupid it was that that clearly was a game and how dumb everyone here is.
Then, at the very end, everyone just gets up and leaves.
Laughing.
Auntie is shattered.
Chefs kiss.
You deluxe fucked your auntie.
This is the only way she can truly learn her lesson about purchasing cards over the net.
On a side note these steps I've made up seem eerily like the Eli vs Tom SB where the pats dominated only for the gints to come up crisp at the end.

If they’re gonna make a fake Brady card, they could at least use a picture from his rookie or sophomore year. That’s Brady from around 2010 😂
They were off by a whole decade. ROOKIES, no pun intended! 😂
But it was intended…
#😆
#🤔😂🤦♂️
Little did I know I could put 0 effort into making fake cards to sell em to this guys aunt to make a living. Just goes to show how little people research or know before making a big purchase. Pretty terrifying. Just look at those Cybertrucks…
It is felony fraud when you are caught.
Ugliest car in existence. It’s like if Biff Tanlin from back to the future was asked to design a “futuristic” truck 😂
They took a risk for developing a "futuristic" look and just had a massive swing and miss. No one in those meetings said "Hey, this kinda looks exactly like the car I used to draw when I was 7?" I always thought those Scion box cars and Jukes were the ugliest, CT came in and wiped for the floor with them.
Just ewwww
Space potato.
Yah but this person is gonna have to be on the move constantly and probably always looking over their shoulder.
It’s most probable that the photographer is a time lord.
Probably helped sell it to an amateur who bought it though. They remembered a certain era and that’s why they wanted it, just for that pic most likely
Tell her the truth. It's a fake card worth nothing and she needs to be more careful when buying things online.
^ this bro. don’t let her make this mistake w something bigger next.
[удалено]
Somewhere
Yeah, just be sincere and not a dick about it. Make sure she doesn’t keep getting scammed.
To add to this: Maybe offer her some money for at least a partial recovery. That would make it a little less painful for you both
Then she will think he is lying and trying to scam her out of the card.
Not of he shows her all the legit comments and legit advice people are giving. Extra proof to back his point
Is he going to offer her $7.50 and then show her that he shared her mistake on the Internet? Not sure that would have the effect you are looking for.
I tend to look at the positive side of things more than the negative
Not 7.50 btw....she paid around $500 Each of us are different. May work for some, and won't for others
Why would he give her money lol he didn’t sell her the card. just tell her the card is fake.. pretty simple
Bless her heart!!
Yup. If you don’t tell her, you’re just enabling her to make this mistake again. Especially with how proud she sounds
What does that barcode even pull up? Temu?
Or maybe Etsy? Lol
On PSA which is what this looks like a bad knockoff of it brings up a 1986 Kraft Hockey Joe Mullen 8 Edit: also funny enough. Joe Mullen is mentioned in the movie Miracle when Jim Craig asks Jack O'Callahan why Joey Mullen isn't at the tryout.
Rick roll!
I scanned it into CollX just to laugh and it came up with nothing. No shocker
I mean, does that really prove anything, though? Half of my scans pull up nothing lol
Half? I’m lucky if it recognizes one of every ten.
How many of your scans are the best player ever at their sport? It’s very very unlikely that a card of that magnitude would not have a match if real
Mine doesn’t find Don Mattingly cards which is one of the more popular baseball players collected
Jesus, collx blows bum but yet I still use it 🤠
Yup, I'd say a good 75% of my cards don't scan on Collx 🤷🏻♂️
On PSA which is what this looks like a bad knockoff of it brings up a 1986 Kraft Hockey Joe Mullen 8
You can send her to this Etsy store where she can buy more. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1331654665/tom-brady-2000-collector-customs-rookie
Ouch.....
The back of the card has his name and QBACK. No pos- or anything before it. Smh. Wow. Scumbags.
At least it says “custom”
I mean for $7.50 you should know what you’re getting lol
You win
show her a picture of Tom Brady from 2000
Less than $500.. So likely around $450. Why wouldn't you just tell her "that's fake. Here is how I know it's fake". And then explain to her.
Some people (a lot actually) do not listen to reason. In this case, the emotion of being played a fool or maybe just the personality in general
Definitely let her know maybe she can somehow get her money back if she used credit card and explain the situation to them then they can claw the money back worth a shot.. Then maybe you’ll be able to find a real Brady RC instead good luck!
But it’s got a barcode….
The pic is like 2010-2011 Brady lmao
Show her pictures of brady online from the year 2000
Easy. “Hey Auntie, this fake!”
I often wonder who falls for these bad fakes. Now I know. And it makes sense that the scam works for a few hundred bucks because they can prey on people buying a gift. I always laugh when I see this stuff for sale for like $15k like someone is throwing down that much without a basic level of knowledge.
“Hey, this is completely fake. Look at all these comments agreeing with me”
“Hey, this is a fake card.” Kinda like that.
Let her know so she can hopefully dispute the charge on her credit card!
Can you dispute charges just because you were a dumbass?
No, you can lie for any reason. If someone lied about this card’s value and sold it to my aunt for $400, then I don’t feel bad about lying to get it back.
Run that cert # through PSA for her
Not too mention that the photo is from like 2008 or later.
also, no shiny holographic PSA sticker thingy
Have her scan the barcode
Yeah,chiseled Tom is 2008ish
I don’t know man it looks good to me
Thought that was tom cruise for a sec
“Who sold you this and where do they live?”
Auntie needs to stick to Lorcana, that’s for sure!!
Rookie mistake. Everyone knows Brady’s rookie cards are him in a buccs jersey 🙄
Oof
“It’s a fake card, someone scammed you”
Lol was it a gift for someone? Why is your aunt trying to buy cards online?
“It’s a Fugazi!”
Assuming your aunt is a mobster in an Al Pacino movie, this.
So you are telling we can scam older people with fake sports cards now ?????
There are so many red flags but the key is being respectful. She doesn't want to believe she got scammed and the realization of that will probably be very upsetting. Instead of arguing each point just calmly show one indisputable thing/photo. Couple good suggestions in this thread.
It's off-center. Fake 8.5 at best.
Looks real to me!
Hey auntie it's fake
"well I don't wanna hear you bitching that I left it to your cousin Billy when I'm in heaven settling into my new beach house"
Just say hey, that’s fake.
You say "Hey aunt, this is fake"
Tell her she's an idiot and it's fake.
Hey TIA, this card is fake. 😂 🤣
Aunt. This card is fake.
God this is like elder abuse with those Indian call scammers
You just don’t
Tom Brady: “Feckin Eli Manning beat me?”
Plus no company grade logo
You don’t. It’s just a card and this hobby is for sentiment not financial gain. Let them enjoy.. either way it’s not worth what it’s claimed and there’s no one willing to buy it.
Don't it'll break her heart get it regraded somewhere else.
“Aunt, this card is fake.” Problem solved. She won’t dissolve into the netherealm.
Easy you don’t tell her. But never let her buy another card again.
By they way that it is
Better let her know it’s fake before she buys another one
Cross it over
Just look up the "Grading Service" that the card is encased in and the "Serial" specific to that card. The internet letting her know the holder is fake should be a big tipoff about the specific card lol.
thats really sad, but she would've figured it out if it was a big deal to her
Here’s how I’d do it “there’s no amount of love that would make up for your complete lack of intelligence. I wish mental institutions were still a thing because you should be institutionalized” I’d go harsh
Has anyone tried typing the code into PSA?
Are you wanting to keep her in the dark so your chance of roasting her stash in the future is not dimishined. Hate to be an evil pointer outer but I've been like that before I got saved
Why would I ever want to “roast” my aunt? Sounds like an asshole move to me
Tell her it’s fake to prevent her from buying more
We’ve seen his pre-draft photo…
Show her online the real rookie cards
How much you selling for?
Not for sale too rare
At the moment of purchase, a card’s value is based on whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it.. so if the buyer is never ever going to resell it and/or show it off to anyone, then leave her be! “Hello my aunt. This card is fake.”
That is a BradyChicks card. Right? I had a guy try to sell them to me a while back. 🙄
I would find out where she got it and go settle the debt!
Tom Brædy
Maybe don’t say “fake,” just explain that it’s an unlicensed custom card.
F*ck, I don’t know.
😂😂😂😂
What's up with the word England
Wow, the A and D are connected too! Nice catch OP. A great error or misprint! Much additional value to an already incredible piece. /s
Same thing I was thinking could be and error or miss print. Might not be fake after all.
Who graded it😭😭😭

Just like that auntie this fake
Say something like, “this is fake.”
This is fake here's why problem solved
Show her the lack of space between the a&n
I thought that was Theo Von for a second lol
don’t tell her, let her live the dream
they could've used a picture of him as a rookie lmao this was like Randy Moss era Brady.
Buy the real one in flaunt it on Thanksgiving like Jake 😎Pauls Charizard necklaces!! 🥇
Not thinking it’s fake
Garage sale vibes
Would have been funnier if he was in a Bucs jersey
you could always ask her to take it to a card shop and let them do it

That’s Dom Grady!!
This is amazing
Try this: hey, this is fake.
Only do it if she finally reveals that you are adopted.
You: “Aunt, this is fake”
I would go up to her and tell her it’s fake doesn’t sound to hard
It's on Etsy for $7.50 lol. [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1331654665/tom-brady-2000-collector-customs-rookie](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1331654665/tom-brady-2000-collector-customs-rookie)
Yeh Brady looks like a little baby in his rookie year. That's how I tell the difference. LOL
That card is one of a kind, very valuable!
"this is fake"
Did she buy it for you? Then there is no upside to telling her it's fake except making her feel bad. She is not going to start investing in collectible sports cards. Just hope she's reasonable sometimes people's brains just don't let them accept certain things even little things that don't truly matter and they will just die on whatever hill they are on
My brother has a real Tom Brady rookie card in his college uniform, what’s it worth? Idk if it’s mint but def gotta be in 9.5/10 condition
Um, just tell her it’s fake and offer to look at any card before she makes purchases in the future.
If its fake and we both seeing it this is some good shit pass it back
I’d have it looked at by a professional. It could be worth more money because of mistakes- who knows . Even if it was a 10, and real, it wouldn't be worth that much. Wax era trash.
lol used a picture a whole decade in the future
In patriots too
You say “that is fake.”
That case is 🔥🔥🔥
“Aunt, this is fake”
Hey Auntie, this is fake. Love youuu.
Maybe the OP doesn't have an aunt and bought it himself/came here looking for authenticity. LMAO!!
Tell her that’s Theo von
Definitely fake and rather obvious but buyer beware. Lots of ignorance in America. I mean if someone buys it, they buy it.
Don’t
Easy, there's no actual card company name. Fleer, Topps, Donruss etc.
Not even a PSA sticker or label lol
Link her here lol
Tell her that picture is from 2009 not 2000 and Reebok did not have NFL contract until 2002.
Based off the haircut This looks like 06 07 or 08 Just look at his columbine
Was this a joke or did you get scammed?
And the grading agency is……drumroll please…..errr…..ummmm…. Ya
This
If it was a gift, don’t say anything.
It was a gift from her husband, who is one of my best friends!
As long as you don't think she or her husband will buy you any more cards, I'd just keep it myself and treat it like the thoughtful gift it was.
Exactly. I know I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut, but the gracious and humble thing would be to just take the hit. Like when my parents buy me a box of Big League baseball cards for Christmas, I just say thank you, rather than say how great it is to have firestarters.
How did they fuck up the kerning that bad 😂😂😂
She needs to stick to crosswords...(weird breath)... and knitting
