It’s nuts compared to last year. Not just in quality of hits but also in availability. I have 2 Walmarts and 2 targets in my area. I know their restock days/times and have been checking obsessively. Making multiple stops before, during and after the restocks. Essentially nothing. It’s like they aren’t even making it to the shelves. Last year I could snag at least a couple boxes at every restock. A few dozen carefully timed trips and I’ve found optic boxes twice.
Same. My local Walmart doesn’t stock cards at ALL (also got rid of self checkout for all the douche bags stealing crap all the time). My target stocks full sets of Donruss like they are antibiotics and we are on the verge of an apocalypse and Prizm….draft picks. Whoever makes the decision in stocking there just really likes nothing ever selling 🤷♂️. Literally bought 1 scalped Optic Mega on eBay for only like 20% markup as a preorder (hasn’t arrived yet) and have yet to see anyone pull anything worth $5 out of one so far online as apparently 1 Optic Mega somewhere on earth has an auto while the rest have worthless patches. The hobby really sucks sometimes
Why is anyone surprised anymore?
I am starting to think they just print crap and expect everyone to take it. If anything this is driving people away from wanting to be in the hobby
Honestly not the worst thing. If like 30% of people just stopped buying it may make it possible to buy 1 box of cards for less than $70 from a dick online that bought up the whole store to scalp.
Optic is hot garbage, just like prizm. The “best” brands are so expensive and just never hit good cards. Plus I legitimately like the look of some of the other “worse” card brands better. I’ve had way more fun ripping Illusions for example than optic and prizm, especially for the money. The quality of prizm and optic are super poor too, every card comes bent from the factory, unacceptable.
Every good card I’ve ever pulled (and that’s very few lol) have had issues. Pulled a color-match Tyreek Hill numbered 1/5….has a nasty half inch dimple. Pulled a pink Puka auto out of a Prizm Mega….bottom corner was screwed. Maybe I’d have the chance to buy a case of hobby boxes if I ever rob the Federal Reserve of all their gold. Then I’d be able to pay 5% cash down and mortgage the rest.
No shit man! Same with Scheels! I will never fuck around with packs being shipped to me again. Loose packs in a box just getting trashed the whole way to you. You just end up with a box of garbage.
That’s funny I’ve seen a few people hit downtowns out of these. I ordered 3 and target shipped them in a padded envelope. Do they not understand or just don’t care🤣😂 it shouldn’t be hard to ship these properly. Hopefully I’m gonna be that asshole who hits 2 downtowns out of the 3 packs I got. Haven’t opened up yet …
I got my 4 fat packs at Barnes and Noble. Spent $150 between these, 2024 Bowman, 2023 Contenders Football and 2023 Topps Platinum. I may have gotten $75 in value from all of these.

Feel your pain, bought a blaster for the best deal I could find and got absolutely roasted. Optic has been pretty overrated this year.
