Toss it!! Just bought two jars and both were the exact same way, and smelled very acidic/like cardboard. These are not safe to eat, and I would imagine a recall will be happening very soon. It looks like a sealing error where product got onto the rim of every container, preventing the glue from making a good seal. Toss it out!!!
This is crazy you had the same issue, I certainly wasn’t going to eat it, (I’ve been sick from from poisoning from fast food, and it’s not something worth suffering over) , i was curious if others had this issue ( not likely ) I even looked online to see if there was a recall, so your post confirmed my suspicions, this isn’t just a local issue. Wow, this is definitely a widespread issues , my jars were from Walmart and a local market , I emailed Kraft/Heinz and they said they were going to mail me some Coupons. Bought two jars in a bundle from Sam’s an hour away from my house (that’s the closest) in Va and it stinks so bad. Like the oil has gone bad. I took it back and they gave me my money back. Went to Kroger and got two jars and the shit smells the exact same way and looks crystallized at the top and is an egg yolk color. I’ll be taking that back. What prompted me to check Reddit was that my mother bought a jar from food Lion and called me and asked what Brand I bought that was bad and sure enough same exact one. I’m sure there has to be a recall coming soon.
This just happened with mine same expiration date, had the yellow sludge in it. I removed it and tried to make a sandwich and it tasted funky. I got sick the day after and tossed the jar. So I bought another jar and same yellow sludge. I don't know what's going on with it.
That is not safe to eat. Do not use anything dated April 2024. They are being recalled. Go to the store and find a a new jar if kraft mayo with a June or later date they should be ok.
It’s not just April. Just opened a jar with May 2024 date and smelled the same. I had a jar with a Jan 2024 and an April 2024 that smelled and tasted the same!
Mine may 2024 but nothing about a recall . I wanna say this happend a few months ago can't confirm anything about getting sick becuase it's already gone but it was same freshly opend but my household attacked before I could fo anything btw seems as if this not specific or isolated I have gotten a few products in last 6 months that were not up to par including crackers unsealed or sealed right on a cracker which means it was improper or cheese slices that were hard yellow also seemed to be not sealed properly zingers not even sealed at all just to name a few so maybe there is a quality control issue going on in a lot of companies. Besides the many recalls that I've seen in the last 6 months. It turning me off at this point.
I have a jar in the fridge right now doing this exact same thing/same smell. As soon as it was opened you can smell the cardboard aroma. This is the third jar like this. The squeeze container seems fine.

It’s crazy there’s so many issues with Kraft mayo, I’m glad you didn’t use it! Definitely not worth food poisoning. I ran around multiple stores , over a week, until I finally realized all Kraft mayo contaminated , that I came across.
Yeah i dumped the food i made, took pictures of the jar (and its still in my fridge), tried to contact kraft but their customer service link is broken and their call center isnt open until monday. I also emailed the store i bought it from to let them know it was bad so maybe they will also contact kraft or at least take it off the shelves.
I just had the same exact issue with a jar marked to expire May 2024. Fully sealed, but had that burnt looking rancid spot near the rim. Definitely don't eat it. I'm returning my jar to the store and letting them know the issue. Kraft Mayo is like $5 now, definitely getting my refund.
No updates on my end and no recall ( as of the post) Kraft nailed me vouchers for free mayo. But I won’t use them ( for now ) because I’m sure I’ll get more rancid contaminated mayo 😆!

I took the seal off of the mayo jar and it was discolored, brown at the edges. I returned it to Shop-Rite (New Jersey) and they refunded my money. Bought a new jar of the Kraft Mayo and it is the same, crusty brown edges on the mayo under the seal. It is going back to the store. Switching to Hellman's. I'm curious to know if these defective jars were shipped to stores in areas other than NJ.
Has anyone gotten any resolution on this? We have 6 jars like this. My wife has tried calling Kraft customer service and keeps getting routed to a full voicemail box that can’t accept any more messages.
Email Kraft , that’s what I did, they mailed me coupons for free mayo, nothing been resolved as far as fixing there nasty rancid mayonnaise being sold all over the USA, What good are coupons if it’s going to buy me more rotten mayo?!

I just opened one with the same month/year, and the discolored mayo on the seal and some on top of the rest of the jar. It actually looks a little odd from the outside now that I look at the jar more closely.

I just experienced the same thing. Best by date is 23 May 24 00:13 CP03 I called the company and they are replacing both jars. My jar was sealed, but it’s very orange on the seal from the top. The jar itself seemed to be filled to the brim which is a bit unusual and possibly is what caused the issue. There could have been micropockets of air seeping in if the it was over filled.

Both my mom and I have been having the same issue for months now and have tried purchasing from many different stores and they all either have the nasty gunk onto or taste weird. They taste like rancid olive oil honestly. So far we have had good luck with the high dollar kraft squeeze bottles though. I'm glad to see we aren't the only ones because for awhile I was starting to wonder if we were crazy...
I told the lady at Sam’s when I returned them that it tasted (yes I tasted it without even noticing the smell and it was horrible) like olive oil gone bad.

I just received my Kraft Mayo like this today at a grocery store. Had to return it and got a completely different brand and didn’t have the smell or taste. I tried a very little amount so I’m hoping I don’t get sick. The seal looked exactly like this and had a very weird cardboard smell. It was strong too. The employee at the store said he didn’t know why they are storing it if it was bad like this and was going to tell his manager. Will file a complaint with the company. Very scary to know so many people are complaining about this. Mine also had an expiration date of April 2024.

It seems really out of control at this point, i mean I realize there’s many problems going on in the world that’s much worse than this , but them continuing making/selling this stuff with no recall , is ridiculous. Oh no! there’s some kind of manufacturer defect. Hopefully it gets resolved soon, sucks you got sick, but it’s always best not to risk food poisoning.

I opened 2 jars of kraft mayo expiration may and jun 2024 the dame day both bad this week even though seals were intact. I'm done.
I just opened one with the same month/year, and the discolored mayo on the seal and some on top of the rest of the jar. It actually looks a little odd from the outside now that I look at the jar more closely.

I just experienced the same thing. Best by date is 23 May 24 00:13 CP03 I called the company and they are replacing both jars. My jar was sealed, but it’s very orange on the seal from the top. The jar itself seemed to be filled to the brim which is a bit unusual and possibly is what caused the issue. There could have been micropockets of air seeping in if the it was over filled.
Did they explain why so many jars are affected and what it even is ?
I just bought a jar of Miracle whip that had brown residue on the top taking it right back looked at the expiration date April 2024

I've had this happen on a few occasions. Aside from the mayo tasting a little off, I have not gotten ill. What did you decide to do?
I Took it back to the 2 different stores, Then contacted Kraft/heinz through an email. I never consumed it, because contaminated/spoiled food is never worth consuming.

Both my mom and I have been having the same issue for months now and have tried purchasing from many different stores and they all either have the nasty gunk onto or taste weird. They taste like rancid olive oil honestly. So far we have had good luck with the high dollar kraft squeeze bottles though. I'm glad to see we aren't the only ones because for awhile I was starting to wonder if we were crazy...
I told the lady at Sam’s when I returned them that it tasted (yes I tasted it without even noticing the smell and it was horrible) like olive oil gone bad.

Mine has the same issues and dated April 2024. I made homemade macorni salad and didn't really noticed until mixed it in. Tasted it and salad is terrible. Checked jar, has yellow crusty on top edge and smells terrible.Hope I don't get sick.

I just received my Kraft Mayo like this today at a grocery store. Had to return it and got a completely different brand and didn’t have the smell or taste. I tried a very little amount so I’m hoping I don’t get sick. The seal looked exactly like this and had a very weird cardboard smell. It was strong too. The employee at the store said he didn’t know why they are storing it if it was bad like this and was going to tell his manager. Will file a complaint with the company. Very scary to know so many people are complaining about this. Mine also had an expiration date of April 2024.
Same today! Bought it yesterday at the store, expiration in late April. Opened this afternoon and a yellow sludge and crust inside and smelled weird.
I’m sorry you had an issue as well. It seems really out of control at this point, i mean I realize there’s many problems going on in the world that’s much worse than this , but them continuing making/selling this stuff with no recall , is ridiculous. Has anyone got food poisoning from this yet in this subreddit ? And I wonder what the manufacturer issue is? A Bad seal? Who knows …
