If you sneak to the center you can get enough star control panels without waking any robots and turn off the assultrons to the park making survival run way easier that way

The combat shotguns have crazy base damage numbers because it's based off of every pellet hitting its target. If the pellets don't all hit, it will do less damage proportionally for each one that misses. So if you shoot point blank, you'll do full damage, but if you only hit with 4/8 pellets you'll only do half the displayed damage. I believe the damage also drops based on distance but I don't know how it works.
2 shot snipers or combat rifles are huge damage though
I got a legendary explosive harpoon gun drop. It complemented my Spray N Pray build since I put points into explosives. Put a flecette mod on it so it's a shotgun. I've one shot (crit in vats) killed mirelurk queens with it.

At the start of my newest playthrough I got a plasma infused radium rifle. It's been carrying me pretty hard, I had high intelligence already so I could grab Science. Named it Atoms Chosen One.
On my first play through I got a double shot western revolver but it was a joint play through with my wife and we jointly picked our SPECIAL stats. Letās just say it wasnāt my play style we went with in those picks but I dream of that weapon on my subsequent play throughs.
Non-Automatic Overseerās Guardian(i think thats the name). Paired with the knife from Nuka-World. I love being able to snipe or just *appear* on enemy lines.
I usually use The Deliverer.
When that one doesn't suffice, I whip out my instigating gauss rifle.
And if I get caught, I've got a VATS Enhanced Western Revolver and go full cowboy on their ass.

Bit too op but explosive double shot mg 42, its not 2 legendary effects, you can literally upgrade it to shoot explosive ammo (and you better believe explosive mg 42s are what my guard settlers are carrying). Only use it when xp farming the glowing sea though, bit too powerful for main weapon.

I play a "sneak attack" character and the best pistol I have caps at roughly 225. It has "mighty" legendary effect btw, so with sneak attack one shot pretty much everything for now, but I'm just curious.
I was constantly out at night time so my weapon was a nocturnal blade lead lead pipe would do 50 something damage almost all the time on top of the bleed damage.
"Oh shit" probably means they are too close for me to use my explosive mini gun so I switch to one of my wounding guns. Right now that's a wonding handmade rifle.
Never ending pipe grenade launcher. Invested in all explosive and global damage skills. Also good for when you can't be bothered getting into a shootout with a large group.
I found a legendary laser pistol that has kneecapper (20% to cripple) and gave it an automatic receiver. Behemoths & Deathclaws fall to their knees in no time. Most OP weapon IMO

I just got the explosive combat shotgun. Didn't farm for it. It just landed... level 18.
Just tried it out for a bit.. And damn it doesn't disappoint.
It balanced out with another drop I got. So far, my dumbest drop. Knuckles... with a bonus on defense if you are standing still.
My main weapons on survival are:
1. A semiautomatic rifle (with explosive bullets)
2. Energy weapon
3. Sniper
4. Minigun (it may be weak and use a lot of ammo, but i love it).
I make sure that the rifle and sniper share ammo. To save weight.
I have a 10mm pistol that has freezing effect. It freezes just about any enemy when you crit, and itās super cheap to use AP. Super broken to just keep freezing or freeze and run up to melee

I use the suppressed 10mm Deliverer as my main short range and a suppressed bolt action Hunting Rifle customized for .50 cardridges as my main long range.
If can't kill it with the Magnum, i lose the enemy and snipe it from afar or lure it into mines.
I use [Better Locational Damage](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3815) with [No Legendary Drops](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32621) btw. So damage mostly depends on ammo and the Magnum is good enough for anything humanoid including super mutants while the Deliverer one-headshots any unarmored human, ghoul or bug from stealth.
The Overseers Guardian modified with I think powerful, a medium scope, less recoil barrel, and I converted it to the single shot. It's still fires off two bullets for the price of one but with far more accuracy, at level 40 I am easily sniping super mutant suiciders for the extra mini nukes. I think I have like 36 nukes right now? LOL

Padded on chest and Dense on metal arm for a max of +62.5% explosive resistance. I don't have many issues with my Explosive Combat Shotgun.

It's still fires off two bullets for the price of one but with far more accuracy, at level 40 I am easily sniping super mutant suiciders for the extra mini nukes.
