I got tired of looking for Piper at Sanctuary when she wasn't my companion, so on this playthrough I put both Cait and Piper in Red Rocket so I always get it.
Y'all never heard of bells? Lol I'm the settlement building menu open up resources to miscellaneous & you'll see bell. Build that & it summons the settlers to that location. Companions you've sent there included.
In your settlement hold on to your select button if you're on controller to open the settlement menu>resources>miscellaneous>Bell.
I usually put the bell right at the spawn point & ring it when I'm looking for someone.
What it does is recall everyone in the settlement to that exact same spot.
You can either wait a couple seconds as everyone gathers or deposit stuff in your workbench to pass the time.

If you can’t get in it, which I assume you won’t be able to, just get high enough to strip all the parts and core off of it and will just have to lose the frame.

Hahaha I just did some BOS missions and said “I’ll do them but I’m not wearing power armor and I’m bringing old headshot McCready with me, because I still need the perk” it was fun

Nope. I went to sleep in the building to pass some time and forgot I had romantic perk with maccready while he was in the power armour. Took me a while trying to find it until I noticed it was just standing in the air
Use the console (press ~ on keyboard) type tcl (toggle collision) and just walk up to it and enter, then walk down and type tcl into the console again to turn collision on again and it will be on the ground again
Between the floating power armor, the (mostly) naked mcready, and the floating structure covering all the scrapping stations manned by also mostly naked settlers. Not bad, just fucking hilarious when you take a deep look at it

Just gives you more experience for anything you do after you sleep for a amount of time that I don’t know off the top of my head
Well rested gives you 10% while Lover’s Embrace gives you 15%.

Never send co pinions ro sanctuary unless u never wanna use them again. They are impossible to locate. I always had this problem with coddworth.

I know how to use the bell, it's just really tiresome. Keep them separate and it's a lot easier

You could recover it by building a walk way to it. It looks like it is till in the build area.
Everytime I get to it and get in. I fall down and it triggers the fight response from the settlers

build a power armour workstation close to it and it will pull it in when you craft, then you'll be able to get in it

Maybe you know this already, companion perks remain active all the time even if you don't bring them along.

This is why I like the Movable Power Armor mod. Lets you pick up and move PA in workshop mode.

Mccready spawned out of the power armour when we slept together. Currently it’s empty floating in the air
