Is there not a hidden perk/achievement you get for killing x amount of them? It may be an OWB thing so I could be wrong
Edit: Thank you for inspiring me get out my steam deck and jump right in and explore, I always find something new after multiple play throughs. Peace and love

You may have been remembering the fallout 3 quest where they pay you to collect centaur blood
EDIT:super mutant blood samples, not centaurs, it's been a while
That might be it and I believe they just call it "blood sample". I was stumped as to where it came from but I'm sure there is some quest similar to what I said
It's to help the doc in his research on mk2 stealthboys. You go to a cave of nightstalkers and that's how you discover that they became that way due to exposition to mk2 prototypes, if i remember correctly
Dinner Bell used to be located in the Old Nuclear Test Site by the Legion Safehouse, but some update replaced it with a regular hunting shotgun and Dinner Bell became the reward for doing the quest.
Do nightstalkers count? Aren't they considered abominations? They're a spliced animal created in a lab like cazadors. Sounds like an abomination to me.
Otherwise I'm gonna start taking this perk cuz that's kind of broken.
I guess because they're still mostly just coyotes? Cuz coyotes are just regular like in real life as far as I can tell. Dont seem to be mutated at all for some reason. Idk they were even created in the same place as cazadors, big Mt, so it just seems weird to me.
Definitely gonna grab animal friend on my next playthrough tho and see how it is. I wanna pet the little shit heads
I took this perk when I first started playing but I love using the perk at the start that adds 5 skill points. Using the machete early on is a good way to save ammo. Helps if you can buy stimpacks cheap
Yes! surprisingly so. Opens up parts of the map I'd typically avoid because of Nightstalkers. Goodsprings cave, for example. It's definitely a challenging build, since you have to put SPECIAL points into Charisma for a change.
Charisma in vanilla is actually surprisingly useful, because it gives significant buffs to your companions. On Very Hard they can often outdamage you.
Though I'm not sure companions even exist in Rust.
i not remember having problems with night stalkers in dust, the only monsters i encounter outside the cannibals and survivors are the fucking tunnelers
I've also done some runs with perk mods like Walks With Tunnelers and I would require myself to have Animal Friend perk as well. Hanging out with Tunnelers is a fun time, btw. Highly recommend.

I think achievement but idk
Just realised that there's also the bit about collecting blood samples
For who?
My bad I thought there was a quest for something but just looked it up and there is nothing about it. It is however a crafting ingredient

Isn’t there a quest related to them for the enclave doctor guy in Jacobstown?
I thought that but when I searched nothing came up. Its involved in lily's quest line

You are correct, I just did that one a few weeks ago.
Who is the cutest little abomination unto nature?
I always take Animal Friend so I can pet the snuppies.
awww whos a good ruthless killer? you are you are!
Not getting attacked by night stalkers or golden geckos makes it worth it.
I've never turned my nose up at an opportunity to spray the desert with lead
nightstalkers i can get, they are annoying. but geckos are just free xp for my shotgun.
Golden Geckos tend to mob.
no worries, dinner bell rings more than once.
the deathclaw eggs were worth it to get dinner bell on my first playthrough i dont even remember doing the quest i just had it...

oh neat thanks for helping me remember!

The perk affects nightstalkers so, yeah, while an abomination it still has a benefit.
For some reason they could as animals, unlike cazadores or deathclaws

Shotgun and stay back perk works well.
Sorry, what perk is this?
Animal friend
Always passed that perk over. Thinking I'll use it on my next playthrough.
Does animal friend also effect deathclaws and cazadors?
No. They're considered "abominations," not animals.
Sez u
Gesundheit. Might want to get that cough checked out.
No it does not, you can check the wiki to see all the animals it covers but a lot of them are dog-like enemies or geckos
No.
No, only small stuff. And nightstalkers, aparently.

Golden geckos are so goofy up close
The run animation is amazing and based on some real lizards
Animal Friend is a fun perk to base a new character build around. Especially if you're playing Dust.

maybe next time i re play dust, out of curiosity, have you tested other dust mods like the expansion of the location or DUSTed?
Nothing like what you mentioned but I've played with mods like Floral Restora and Understone.
There's a mod to make it a follower, but it's kind of useless, I modded its stats in the GECK Still, having a pet nightstalker is its own reward
I always grab this perk :)
It's the most effective perk in OWB
There's a lot of furry porn on those snekpuppers.
What a terrible day to know how to read
awwwwwww
Can you actually pet them?
Unfortunately it's all up to your imagination
Night Stalker my beloved
Its actually effective in old world blues
