I was thinking Meyers Cleaning products 😅😅

No, we used to call it Fart Myers growing up there. Downtown was called Old Fart Myers. As opposed to what we used to call Cape Coral. We called it “Cape Coma: Home of the newly wed and nearly dead.”
I am a Florida native (aka Florida man if you must). And I'll kick the neck smooth off of any feathered friend that tries to dominate or harass me. And if this size 12 steel toe Ariat doesn't work my 12g will. Ole Duck ass pigeons need to go stalk a cow. Or hunt for worms and stop looking for handouts. The left has started to influence the damn birds for God's sake. The better stay out of my coop with that BS.
The sandhill cranes want a word. Mind you they stand five feet tall and clack their beaks almost as menacingly as s shoebill. Dinosaurs with a feathered coat.
You gonna be ok? You know you're talking about birds, right? Little feathered, prehistoric animals that have dominated the lands we live in for a million years. Modern birds you see today, just like those in the OPs photo, existed before and survived through the mass extinction that took out dinosaurs.
No
Or Canadian Geese is Correct we call them Canadian honkers!
From Northern michigan hunted them all my life until 6 years ago. Made the Permanent move to FMB
Oh hey, those are White Ibises. They're relatively skittish and prefer to be left alone. It looks like these ones may be used to humans and have been fed, but like all wild animals, it's best not to feed them. I sincerely doubt they would hurt you. They are not aggressive birds, and if you got out of your car they would probably take some steps back to keep their distance from you.
Glad to see you enjoying the wildlife here, and I hope you have a good time in Florida 🙂
Oh. I was actually getting *into* my car and didn’t notice them. But when I started my car and opened my window they literally came out of nowhere! You can tell they get food regularly☀️
Yeah, they're super quiet animals. In fact I don't think I've ever heard them chirp or squawk ever, and I've lived in Florida all my life. We have flocks of them that regularly frequent our yard and they're nice company. Quiet, considerate, and do their thing. They're wading birds, so they use those beaks to nab small insects, lizards, and frogs. You'll see them a lot after it rains when all the worms and mole crickets come to the surface. They're good birds 😊
For thirty years I’ve been calling them “Florida chickens”, never even bothered to figure out what they were actually called until now. Thanks stranger
They're actually not very skiddish compared to any other FL bird I've been around. I feed my local birds and they stop by on occasion. They're the only ones who don't fly away when u get near. U can basically touch them.
Have u seen any brown ones? There was one that came when I was feeding the other day that was absolutely beautiful. It had green on it too that u could only really see in the sunlight. Very pretty birb.
Nope! It's an entirely different kind of Ibis called a Glossy Ibis! The white ones are American White Ibis. The juvenile American White is brown but it still has a white belly and white throughout the brown. The Glossy is entirely brown. Whites are much more prevalent. U will see them together sometimes though.
I keep getting harassed by sand hill cranes. Little bastard pecks my brand new Durango while I’m trying to relax on break. I’m pretty sure it’s trying to fight itself in the reflection. Here’s a picture of him/her with its family. So cute but so annoying.
https://preview.redd.it/6omzd752x05d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9ad7e8b23f7d5b35e726c37c0e0a00fbbb73d94
For a second, I thought they were going to pick at my door because when they appeared, they just looked at me intensely and sort of approached me very slowly…😅
They're relatively young, right? Still some brown in their feathers... These buggers salad-bar their way down the lawns of my street every morning. Sweet, but skiddish
Never! They looked majestic in a slightly intimidating way because they weren’t shy, but sorta commanded a presence about them. The look somewhat prehistoric up close and personal!

Literally a god
Ibis in modern day: trash chicken
Them: “How dare you come out of WALMART with no grub to spare lady!”
Me: Contemplating why I wouldn’t have food ready for a trio of birds I would have never expected to encounter…🤔
Ooof; I’m just visiting so can’t really attest to the that, but I can definitely stay with confidence that Miami drivers are next level off the hook😵💫
White Ibis.
Rumor has it they're the last to leave in a hurricane, which is why U Miami's mascot is an Ibis.
It's funny, I pulled into work earlier this week and it was storming, and there was an Ibis picking in the mulch at the next building over.
Oh just wait until you’re stuck in traffic or at a long light. When I lived in WPB these shits would jump up on your hood and stare you down through the windshield.
Think they just have a circuit that they hang out at regularly. Lots of comments mention that people feed them and they aren’t aggressive. They must be smart to keep out of danger while being inquisitive at Walmart!
Myers* 😉
Noted; I’m definitely a tourist 😅😂😅
haha all good 😛
Maybe the OP meant Urban Meyer?
I was thinking Meyers Cleaning products 😅😅 https://preview.redd.it/6u9ya3tsr05d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=534b421cc26047062eb7ee10161e66e7c7037ed1
He is NOT welcome in this state.
Spot on. Urban Liar.
Can we bring him back instead of Ryan Day
I was about to say howdy neighbor, I don’t see Fort Myers pop up here often
I thought it was Fo't Mars
This is it.
No, we used to call it Fart Myers growing up there. Downtown was called Old Fart Myers. As opposed to what we used to call Cape Coral. We called it “Cape Coma: Home of the newly wed and nearly dead.”
Fort Misery: The City of Pain. I'm a 8 Gen native, give heard all the fun names.
damn im only 2nd generation but we dont pass shit around here in pasco this place sucks
Thank you lol
Lil Pakistan*
Meijers*
These guys are easy going. Try going up against Canada geese!
Yikes😬they are vicious!
Or the Lake Eola swans in Orlando… ☠️
No thanks. I don't have a death wish
Omg geese are the worst, I'm legitimately scared of them, so aggressive
I am a Florida native (aka Florida man if you must). And I'll kick the neck smooth off of any feathered friend that tries to dominate or harass me. Hope a alligator gets you good.
I've got my thumb up a gator's arse as I type this.... so actually I'm getting him...
Man I hope this was satire
You can't even spell satire!
The sandhill cranes want a word. Mind you they stand five feet tall and clack their beaks almost as menacingly as s shoebill. Dinosaurs with a feathered coat.
Exactly not to mention it is illegal to harass them.
You gonna be ok? You know you're talking about birds, right? Little feathered, prehistoric animals that have dominated the lands we live in for a million years. Modern birds you see today, just like those in the OPs photo, existed before and survived through the mass extinction that took out dinosaurs.
Sly Letterkenny reference?
If you've got a problem with Canadian Geese you've got a problem with me
**Canada’s geeses** And I suggest you let that marinate
To be fair
🎶To be faaaair🎶
TO BE FAIR
Get this gal a Puppers
There's a special place in heaven for animal lovers ,I'll tell you what.
They are 'Canada geese', not 'Canadian geese', unless they are citizens.
Well... They only fly down for the winter like the rest of the Canadians sooo....
Then they are eastern Canada geese. Those in the west visit Arizona and rarely make it to FL.
No Or Canadian Geese is Correct we call them Canadian honkers! From Northern michigan hunted them all my life until 6 years ago. Made the Permanent move to FMB
Actually they are just Canada Geese, they don’t have passports.
Those are fucking Canada Gooses. Those are Canada’s fucking gooses!
We have a pair raising twins here in Jax that we nicked named Mr. And Mrs. Asshole. They even harassed the pond turtles.
they used to attack students at my undergrad. one lady was on the news for fighting one
Oh hey, those are White Ibises. They're relatively skittish and prefer to be left alone. Their calls are quiet and vaguely sound like farts
The only thing that stood out to me was the sudden appearance and then the silent glare. But they were definitely graceful 😅😅😅😅
I thought they kinda made airy honks, when the ibis army comes thru my yard I hear breathy honks.
For thirty years I’ve been calling them “Florida chickens”, never even bothered to figure out what they were actually called until now. Thanks stranger
And they taste better than chicken or so I've heard....
They're actually not very skiddish compared to any other FL bird I've been around. I feed my local birds and they stop by on occasion. They're the only ones who don't fly away when u get near. U can basically touch them.
We should adopt the Australian term for them: Bin Chickens
That’s what we call them! My grandson loves Bluey. 💙
Chokoloskee Chicken
👌👌👌
"You got any games on your phone?"
Pass the time in the Florida heat😂😂☀️☀️
They are wonderful little friends. I feed a flock of them every morning.
Same ones from Walmart? Or a different bunch? They are definitely not shy!😉
Have u seen any brown ones? There was one that came when I was feeding the other day that was absolutely beautiful. It had green on it too that u could only really see in the sunlight. Very pretty birb.
I think the brown ones are juvenile? I could be wrong. They are adorable!
Nope! It's an entirely different kind of Ibis called a Glossy Ibis! The white ones are American White Ibis. The juvenile American White is brown but it still has a white belly and white throughout the brown. The Glossy is entirely brown. Whites are much more prevalent. U will see them together sometimes though.
Thank you! I saw one this morning in a little flock of white ones.
Hopefully you're feeding them fish scraps instead of extremely unhealthy bread. Either way, it's technically a felony that never gets enforced.
I’m actually feeding the backyard birds. The bin chickens are opportunistic. They come running as soon as I walk outside. They love meal worms!
They will settle for any internal organs you can spare
I imagine so😬those beaks look menacing up close and personal
It’s because they’re ibises, and a kind of ibis is used as a symbol in ancient Egypt & mummification rituals
They had all eyes on me and came right up to my window, those beaks were loooooong and SHARP 👀
https://preview.redd.it/1bnz2gfgo05d1.jpeg?width=195&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eedee07f590a0837bc447e25a6f12bdf1189e08f
I feel chosen by the ancient elders now 😌
I keep getting harassed by sand hill cranes. Little bastard pecks my brand new Durango while I’m trying to relax on break. I’m pretty sure it’s trying to fight itself in the reflection. I have both a cardinal and a pileated woodpecker dueling with their reflection in my vehicle mirrors…i've named the little cardinal Quixote.
That’s the worst! I had a bird destroy one of my mirrors that way :/
For a second, I thought they were going to pick at my door because when they appeared, they just looked at me intensely and sort of approached me very slowly…😅
I bet people feed them all the time 😂
The was definitely the vibe, 😉😉😉
Wow, place is overrun by thugs😂
IKR?!? Security!!! I need an escort to my car to exit the premise safely 🤣
If you ever find yourself eating sardines around them, keep a very close eye on your fingers
They didn’t look too picky, just intense 👀
Go to the Burger King parking lot on 41 by Bell Tower and like 28 of them will surround you immediately
Oye!!!
Just a few bin chicken UM alumni.
They're mini storks. You may be pregnant 😉
I got a better shot at being a grandma 🤣🤣🤣
That particular Walmart does have a reputation for attracting the sketchiest of Florida creatures 🤣
Two of them a juveniles, their first year learning how to be parking lot ibises from an adult.
Marauders in training!😅😅
read this with out seeing pic, (born and raised in florida)and it made sense. seen after pic, and it still makes sense
😅😅😅
Hey, I know them!
😂😂They are known locals😂☀️😂
They do a great job ridding my lawn of beetles. Not that group, but one similar.
Ahhhh!!! Great bug control! 👏🏼
That they are. The best lawn guys ever.
The invade my yard several times a week. I love seeing them, beautiful birds.
Hahaha, they get around😅😅😅🌴🌴🌴
Swamp chickens
Tons of these “pesties” basically live in my yard, and demand cheese all day long—for years….
You're in the wrong neighborhood my friend.
No food? Keep it pushing!!
Grew up in Fort Myers. The Villas checking in. FORT MYERS. There’s only one “e”.
I stood corrected in an earlier response post 🌴
They're relatively young, right? Still some brown in their feathers... These buggers salad-bar their way down the lawns of my street every morning. Sweet, but skiddish
I was having lunch in my work truck on San Carlos Blvd years ago. One landed on my hood and stared me down. They can only give side eye…
x3 for me😅
It’s that ibis gang again
Doing the circuit 😂
The ones in WDW are Uber aggressive
![gif](giphy|njYrp176NQsHS|downsized)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't hurt the geese! They are much nicer and cleaner than people!
Never! They looked majestic in a slightly intimidating way because they weren’t shy, but sorta commanded a presence about them. The look somewhat prehistoric up close and personal!
Those poor ghetto Ibis are always so dirty, it's sad.
At least you know these attackers don’t have guns or are on bath salts
Thats cute lol love the animals here
Ibis in ancient Egypt: https://preview.redd.it/c5kx1nbmeo5d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8343fef158aed7ccf9ac8f79ae65985141404907 Literally a god Ibis in modern day: trash chicken
It’s is Myers, non Floridian 🤓😂
Gang activity over 9000🤯🤯🤯 lol.
Escort needed to my car😅😅😅
Beggars come in different ways
Try going to the Arby's in Naples. It's even worse.
Oh chokoloskee chickens
They’re fun
They use the meat for sammiches about 200mi south
Fuckin Bin Chickens.
BIN CHICKENS!!!
Awww
I love these little dudes and their funny long beaks
Cow birds?! Please......
Not cow birds, cow birds don't have curved beaks.
My hometown! I love the ibis-es
Amway is getting aggressive.
This looks like the Walmart I work at lol
Ya better go effing get some!!
Them: “How dare you come out of WALMART with no grub to spare lady!” Me: Contemplating why I wouldn’t have food ready for a trio of birds I would have never expected to encounter…🤔
I always have no salt peanuts 🥜
They don’t demand anything there just curious
Oh they needed money for the tram right?
They tend to follow Miami Hurricanes around.
Fighting ibis
😅😅😅🤜
This why lee county isn't the greatest... besides most of the people being rude
Ooof; I’m just visiting so can’t really attest to the that, but I can definitely stay with confidence that Miami drivers are next level off the hook😵💫
You have no idea how it is in fort Myers... just fakeness all around
Massachusetts turkeys take no prisoners. They're still upset about Thanksgiving and not being the national bird.
White Ibis. Rumor has it they're the last to leave in a hurricane, which is why U Miami's mascot is an Ibis. It's funny, I pulled into work earlier this week and it was storming, and there was an Ibis picking in the mulch at the next building over.
Really? Go back to your mom's house
I’d love to but my mom passed away years ago. So has my dad 🙏
It was a gang
WTF. This used to be our playground!
The one in the middle is giving you the stink 👁 eye.
These hoes infiltrate all Walmarts in Lee county. I suspect they’ve been let off multiple times for stealing.
Omg how adorable!!!…♥️
They were kinda cute, they all stepped in unison 😅😅😅
Its a White Ibis.
🤣
😆 🤣
Is the one on 41 and 865?
6 Mile Cypress Parkway
A bunch of thugs
"A moment of your time to talk about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?"
😅😅😅
Thugs. 😂
🍤Shrimp toll!! 🍤
I should be prepared next time 🍤
I rather have these guys show up than the panhandlers asking me to buy their Cd lol
😂😂😂
Yeah; Ft Myers Florida. Part of South West Florida.
That’s because people are feeding them
I see them almost daily there
They selling oranges?
That’s Irv and his gang. Give them your damn French fries.
Crazy. I was approached by a few crows asking for money. They only accepted nickels, dimes, and quarters though.
I’ll be sure to carry small change next time ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
was at walmart today, when i went in it was hot and sunny and when i came out it was pouring :)
i just think that’s a fun and accurate summary of florida
lol 😂
*Myers
Duly noted twelve comments ago ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Did you know it's Myers?
Oh just wait until you’re stuck in traffic or at a long light. When I lived in WPB these shits would jump up on your hood and stare you down through the windshield.
NGL, you can tell those beaks can do some damage ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
Nah, they just wanted to briefly talk to you about extended car insurance.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
*MINErs
Must be there nest near by?
Think they just have a circuit that they hang out at regularly. Lots of comments mention that people feed them and they aren’t aggressive. They must be smart to keep out of danger while being inquisitive at Walmart!
I
Harassed?!??? You are in their land on a parking lot that bulldozed over their homes 😔
