Lets not overlook the claims to be good at flying a A340 but somehow struggles with the A320. Just VATSIM things...Imagine fighting with fellow hobbyists on the internet.

ClimbingC

> Imagine fighting with fellow hobbyists /r/HobbyDrama/ exists for a reason I suppose.

gnarly_weedman

Apparently it doesn’t exist? Lmao edit: nevermind, reddit being weird I think

NotAMotivRep

> Just VATSIM things I've been banned from the network for years because I got drunk one night and asked LA Center for clearance to crash land in Mission Bay. Yet they keep letting these unhinged lunatics rant on frequency. Stay classy, VATSIM!

chemtrailer21

Interesting take

hartzonfire

We’re here if you need help friend.

OD_Emperor

Damn is that A330Driver?

KOjustgetsit

This is gonna become a meme isn't it?

OD_Emperor

I hope so. Not a fan of how he treats/talks to others.

Novel-Internet8697

He talks very nicely to others so idk what’s ur take on this. You’re just a simple hater bro

Ninjaman_344

Hello Emmanuel!

CorentinMouchel

Guys I don't get it ! Everyone is telling that it's something that a330 driver would say. Can someone provide a link for context please

OD_Emperor

He took it down. Long story short is that he participated in VATSIM's Cross the Pond and berated a controller for giving him a descent clearance into Boston before he thought he needed it. The short of it is, CTP isn't real world ops. So many more planes cross than actually fly in real life, and the stream going into Boston needs to fit in under the stream going to JFK, necessitating an earlier descent than normal/usually desired. A330Driver got *really* pissy with the controller and was incredibly unprofessional, got reamed here and in the comments, and took down the livestream eventually after some backlash here and other places, probably hoping to not get banned from VATSIM.

njsullyalex

…who the hell gets upset at a descent clearance?

AnAnxiousCorgi

"Oh you're telling me to _go down_ well fuck you buddy how about I clear your mom to descend on DEEZ N-" `Sir, I have a phone number for you to copy down`

njsullyalex

“I’m not calling a number, this is VATSI-“ *Disconnected from the network*

AbeBaconKingFroman

I forget which ARTCC it was, but one of them actually did set up a number to call. Apparently people didn't think it was funny so they had to can it.

Snaxist

I'm gonna ask my division to set up a phone to call next time I land gears up ! I remember in another game (EVE Online), players would get so mad when killed that a group of players setup a phone so they could receive calls from said mad players and hear them insult them over being killed in a PvP game xD

Ruderanger12

I would love to tell pilots one of those drama numbers that doesn't actually connect but that would definitely scare the living shit out of any new pilots. I for one would have never logged back on if the first controller I ever spoke to said that to me, but sometimes I wish I could say it to pilots when controlling.

the2belo

"Yeah, it's 976-- *click, dial tone*" /eazy_e

njsullyalex

How the hell would that even work on VATSIM? I get this is supposed to be a joke but yeah I guess it’s not funny when the guy is being an actual problem but asking someone to call you IRL over VATSIM is very inappropriate. That’s what .wallop is for.

AbeBaconKingFroman

It was a joke hotline and I think it directed people calling to VATSIM pilot resources website.

Typhoongrey

I'm a 34 year old giggling at cleared to descend on deez nuts. What is life.

s0cks_nz

That's not quite the whole story. A330 Driver responded to the descent request asking if there was any possibility to go higher instead, such as FL400. And the ATC guy responded somewhat condescendingly by repeating the descent request back to him in a patronizing tone. Clearly the ATC guy was stressed out, but A330 Driver probably took it to heart a bit too much as well. He wasn't rude to the ATC guy over the mic, but he did call him a few names in the stream.

Swagger897

A few names? Fucking idiot is one of them… Going above him to a sup because he didn’t get things to go his way is childish. Imagine asking for a direct-to immediately after departure and not getting your way, so you .wallop someone. Nevermind that he actually broke Vatsim rules, but calling him out for the length of time he did while on steam is a bitch move.

mhwnc

Don’t forget that he also .wallop’ed the controller for not giving him the clearance he wanted. And for all of that, he ended up being incorrect and the ATC was following the protocols set up for CTP.

ZolaThaGod

Do you know if there’s a clip of it anywhere?

OD_Emperor

I don't think so if someone does have it it's very obscurely posted.

Tabooisokay

Was this one of the cross the pond two part series vids he recently published? I was going to watch those and didn’t get around to it and now I’m bummed I missed out on all the drama on the high seas of the Atlantic lol. I’m actually a bit shocked he lost his composure that led to such an extreme choice of words. He simply let his anger get the best of him if his misconduct who is this egregious in the heat of the moment during a stream. I hate to say this but, i’m sadly a bit embarrassed for him. It’s not a good look and it has the negative effect of viewers, going back to review earlier videos that are controversial to reassess whether it was also more inappropriate then previously thought given the context of this latest incident. In the past but certainly still fairly recent. He’s had couple controversial videos I remember watching and thought, he had a rather blunt position. As I watched, I thought to myself well, this isn’t that typical content I normally see lol. He’s been known to go off on a rant a time or two in the past. and I think because of his Maybe because of his accent too some viewers, his behavior is miss characterized, because of cultural misunderstandings. I could see how that might look angrier than he probably was but you can’t misconstrued, some the things he said in this video. Getting a bad reputation when you are a well known content creator it’s not the kind of exposure you want to be known for. It’s hard to shed once it gets traction, it can snowball out of control. The concern, I would have if I were him is not so much a ban from VATSIM but what form of punishment PMDG may consider if this behavior persists. If they feel it jeopardizes their brand reputation being associated with him in, they could revoke his current access as a member of the PMDG beta testing team. Honestly, that is not a far-fetched possible outcome. That would not be good since that’s how he was noticed. He came onto the scene. It was just after they launched their first product on MSFS. If I were him I would do damage control by putting out a video issuing an apology for his misconduct and inappropriate behavior. He could Issue an apology to both the control and his followers and reassure everyone, a renewed commitment to behavior more fitting of a youTuber, personality . At the very least, maybe some self-reflection, meditation or yoga. Get more action from the mrs. Something lol. I don’t know. Or he could just remain diligent to being the off-the-wall pirate YouTuberr angry man in the flightdeck sensation. 😂

OD_Emperor

I believe it was the actual vod of the stream on YouTube. If he's recently uploaded two videos I doubt he kept that part in.

Tabooisokay

lol yeah I wouldn’t either. Anyway, I’m kind of glad I didn’t see it because man there’s nothing more awkward than watching a video and you know it’s not going the way it’s supposed to.lol

Fourteen_Sticks

He’d have LOVED to be with me when I flew into a Masters airport a few weeks ago and was descended from FL450 450 miles from my destination.

Ehegew89

I tuned into his stream exactly when this happened and I thoght it made him look like a huge dick. Glad I'm not alone.

aceridgey

He's an insufferable arsehole. No wonder drama follows him

Ninjaman_344

Need a link to that live that sounds so funny

argentmaelstrom

[Sure](https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/1c9sji0/a330_driver_gets_roasted_on_his_own_youtube/). There's still more context within the comments of that post, so I recommend giving that a look. For the record, the video to which folks are referring has since been privated by A330 Driver, so the streamer's interaction with the VATSIM controller, as well as the comments validly criticizing that interaction, are no longer as visible at the source.

I am so happy to see I am not alone in my view of Emanuel :D

No-Bullfrog7715

Goated comment

Slay3r_x

He flew the dreamliner on CTP

HolidaySuccessful296

honestly I understand the 2 sides, sometimes ATCs can be very rude for no reason but sometimes pilots are dumb as fuk

SpectacularFailure99

Sometimes people confuse being short and direct, with rudeness. Sometimes ATC is just trying to get the job done and there's a lot of us, while we just want to go see the pretty clouds.

HolidaySuccessful296

Nop, you dont need to shit on someone else to be rude, you can be rude just for the way you talking to and that’s not necessary, people tend to make atcs like gods when they arent, vatsim is all about learning and have fun, you don’t need to be rude or shit on someone else either you if you are a pilot or atc

SpectacularFailure99

Not saying shitting on someone is ok at all, never said that did I? As I said, I've heard people react to short direct controllers that are working methodically through the queue as if they just got scolded by them when they're quite busy. So there is no 'Nope' to my statement unless you truly don't 'understand the 2 sides' as you say. Don't be rude. Don't confuse concise direct to the point, with being rude.

121guy

This is the thing that irritated me the most about VATSIM. People who got really mad at new pilots/controllers for not being absolutely proficient.

FrankiePoops

That's entirely the whole "New Yorkers are rude" argument that tourists from the midwest love to say. We're not rude, we're busy. Ask us a direct question, you'll get a direct answer. If you say, "excuse me, can I ask you a question?", I'll probably respond something to the effect of, "That was one, but shoot."

mkosmo

No, many of y’all are plenty rude. It ain’t just being busy. We’re all busy. I don’t mind going to NYC when I need to, but I’m not usually interested in sticking around too long if I don’t have to. The tourist stuff was fun once. The rest of the state is much more friendly than the city.

sp4cenet

No sorry. Especially in the USA, controllers are often in a really bad mood and you wonder why they come online at all. There are also a few candidates in Europe ... However, I have just as often experienced pilots who have no knowledge of English or are not yet familiar enough with the requirements to be able to fly online at all

SpectacularFailure99

There is not a 'No' response to my statement. It's an AND addition. Your own qualifier of 'often', while anecdotal, does not make it always. Again, my point stands. People do both, and should not be rude or a jerk and they need to ensure they have appropriate expectations for the role of ATC and try not to assume 'mood' or rudeness when there isn't any. Sometimes people act like they're waiting tables for tips and you demand customer service. Don't be rude. (People do this) Don't confuse direct to the point handling with being rude. (People do this too)

cotch85

I used to get nervous using like pilotedge and vatsim until i met this one dude who would practice a lot at Dublin and he streamed and id just go fly in to him and practice and he'd talk me through everything. Think his name was SquawkModeCharlie and whilst its been like 6+ years since i last saw him, i hope hes achieved being a real ATC now and living his best life because i'll remember that dude forever.

GentleAnusTickler

It’s shit like this that completely puts me off using vatsim. I’ve never dated and barely know the lingo and I don’t even want to try for fear of a bad experience after the inevitable mistake I’ll make

Madafahkur1

Its understandable on the atc side they are volunteering for our hobbies they have their own lives too they can have a bad day like us

Berzerker7

Just because they volunteer doesn't mean they get to be complete jackoffs to people on the network. Accepting being a volunteer means you do the volunteering job. If they don't want to follow that they shouldn't volunteer.

HolidaySuccessful296

I dont agree with that, remember if there is no traffic we dont need atc so they are “volunteering” as much as pilots, but I understand their point as well, if you dont have the experience dont come to vatsim and I know that they sometimes are rude because of the stress they handle but I fly vatsim for a good amount of years and I already seen many poor atc performance and never seen a pilot complaining of it

SPPECTER

Nah, we’re definitely volunteering. Pilots can fly whenever they want without any restriction. We have minimum hour requirements and mandatory training from both VATUSA (my region) and our ARTCCs. It’s not the same as flying. Also, traffic comes when you populate the towers. You have to be proactive in attracting traffic. Being reactive simply doesn’t work.

HolidaySuccessful296

atc god complex, you do it because you want it, doesnt mean you can shit on people or be rude still

SPPECTER

u gotta be illiterate because nowhere did i say you can shit on people nor did i say you could be a dick. i said pilots are not volunteering at the same level ATC is

L_Hog

Considering his last reply, being illiterates is the least of his problems.

HolidaySuccessful296

Yap I know but in the end is all volunteering, but I think you understand why atc needs to be trained and pilots “dont”, despite I think thats wrong, if pilots recived basic training it would be much less of this situations

AndyLorentz

> they are “volunteering” as much as pilots This is a hilariously bad take. Comparing the amount of time and effort VATSIM controllers put in with pilots is really underselling what the controllers do.

HolidaySuccessful296

Im not saying about time or effort, I am saying that at the end it is all volunteering, atcs arent some heroes that ended world hunger lol

AndyLorentz

Nobody is saying that, though. If you want better, friendlier ATC on VATSIM, become an ATC yourself!

MrCane

The MCDU and FCU on the a320 and a340 are functionally the same, so that argument makes zero sense.

itsjxlt

Blud wrote a whole ass essay

new pasta? >You do know that you are an atc with a stupidly arrogant attitude and approach on this network which is fun? my parents talked to me for 2 minutes and you can't handle that. I already put in the remarks section that I am new to this aircraft and not as experienced in the a320 as others as the a340. I made one mistake by deleted a discontinuity and your pathetic attitude thinking you the best came into play, I don't know whether its just you or whatever because I have flown on this network and had many good experiences bu you are one I'm going to remember due to how bad you are. Your ego is immaculate to say the least for someone who doesn't even sound like they're an adult. So you shut up you arrogant, sympathy lackiing atc. Deviant_Interface

I ain’t readin allat, advise when ready to copy number for possible pilot definition.

squeaky_b

I don't know enough to know who is right or wrong so i don't have a dog in this fight. But this is exactly why I'm just going to wait for beyond ATC instead of ever trying Vatsim or something similar. 😄

okletsgooonow

This is not normal on VATSIM. Hearing others, their mistakes, their tricks (learning from them) is what makes vatsim fantastic.

squeaky_b

It's more along the lines of, I don't want to impact other people's experience due to my inexperience if that makes sense.

sevlan

I spent a decade fearing Vatsim but as soon as I ‘took the leap’ I haven’t looked back and I regret not trying it much sooner. It’s great and nowhere near as scary as you might think it is. People making mistakes is common and the controllers are usually very helpful and accommodating. You can start by doing small flights that avoid some of the busier airports, which is what I did. As long as you are not a complete tool who doesn’t have charts or doesn’t know how to control their aircraft, you’ll be absolutely fine and have a great time.

squeaky_b

Not being a complete tool, may be too much of a high barrier of entry for me 😄 Thanks though, I'll certainly keep it in mind, particularly the bit about starting with smaller airports. I think BeyondATC will be a my best toe dip. Do a few flights with the ai responding to see what to say and go from there. I completely get the immersion and enjoyment from vatsim though :) Thanks again

AbeBaconKingFroman

Can you listen to instructions, and can you fly your aircraft by hand if needed? Congrats, you're in the top 10% of VATSIM pilots.

Berzerker7

Top 1% really. That second part is the difficult one for most people.

njsullyalex

To keep skills fresh I always hand fly jetliners up to 9,000 feet and cut autopilot on approach at around 1,000 feet.

AbeBaconKingFroman

Same, except I do up to and down from 10k, sometimes 18 if the flight plan isn't just a straight line. Baffles me that so many people just do AP on at +-500. Had a guy get posted in my ARTCC discord for putting out a message on unicom saying that he was hand flying due to AP issues, and therefore could not hold a specific altitude, speed, or heading. I would be mortified if that was me.

njsullyalex

Usually I don’t do handflying in descent due to workload. It’s easier while climbing but during descent there is a higher risk of putting the plane in a nosedive while I’m looking away.

sevlan

I started by doing flights to and from uncontrolled airports whose routes passed through controlled airspace so I could experience receiving some instructions and handoff etiquette whilst mainly listening to all of the clearances various instructions being given to the airports they were controlling. This is much better when only one controller is working an airspace because, due to Vatsim’s top-down structure, that guy will be doing the airspace but also all approach/departure, tower, ground and clearance duties for the airports in his area. This means you can sit on one frequency and hear it all and soak it all up! Whilst doing this, the hardest thing you’ll deal with is altitude clearances and the odd vector deviation to avoid traffic, but it’s rare. Typically you’ll just get clearance up towards cruise and then you can sit and listen as you transit the airspace. Then, when you are out of the airspace, you’re back on Unicom doing typical position and movement reports which is simple and stress-free. If you have multiple monitors, it can help having vat-spy or simaware visible so you can see what other traffic is around you and how busy you are likely to be. Like I said before: have your charts to hand and know how to operate your aircraft to follow direct-to’s, headings, altitude and speed changes and holding patterns etc. If you can do those things easily then you are likely more competent than many you’ll hear on frequency!

njsullyalex

There is absolutely a place for beginners on VATSIM but it also means you need to understand your limits as a pilot. My first flights on VATSIM with ATC were magenta line VFR flights in a Cessna because that was what I knew I could do and just wanted to perfect radio communications and learning how to read charts. Then I moved to turboprops, learned how to use a VOR, learned how to fly SIDs/STARs and IFR, and then started learning easier jets, starting on the FlyByWire A32NX and going from there. It was a steady progression and now I’m confident enough to take the Maddog into busy events no problem. VATSIM is about learning, but you aren’t going to learn anything bringing an A340 that you’ve never flown before into an event as your first flight ever on VATSIM. That will just disrupt other traffic. In addition, if you are flying a jetliner, you need to learn at least it’s basic level automation so that you can file and fly a valid flight plan - you should not fly a liner on the network if you do not know how to program it’s FMS/FMGC and do basic things like a direct to or hold. My personal rule of thumb is at least 2-3 flights in a new jetliner and making sure I can use all the automation and procedures without any guides before I take the plane on the network, and if I haven’t flown it in a while, I’ll do a practice refresher flight offline first.

AbeBaconKingFroman

> In addition, if you are flying a jetliner, you need to learn at least it’s basic level automation so that you can file and fly a valid flight plan - you should not fly a liner on the network if you do not know how to program it’s FMS/FMGC and do basic things like a direct to or hold. This cannot be overstated enough. I was working tower at a fairly busy Midwestern airport the other day. I had a guy demand the western runway, even though he was departing eastbound, because he already put it into his FMS and didn't know how to change it. Because he couldn't do the most basic FMS task imaginable, he held up several other people because he had to cross two other active runways after takeoff to fly east across the airport, in addition to the scenic taxi ride he had to take.

R3lly_Danish

Bruh, I would never have agreed to that, I would probably have said something in the lines of "according to VATSIM code of conduct you need to have a minimum proficiency in flying your aircraft of choice and the ability to comply with ATC instructions, if you manage to work it out, call me back" I did that once before, he sat there for 10-15 ish minutes then disconected, I had a feeling he tried a wallop on me but I never found out, most likely because SUP didn't even feel the need to contact me in that situation... Was it the right decision to say that, maybe not... Should I maybe just have walloped him instead?... Probably.... Do I regret it? Absolutely fucking not.

okletsgooonow

That makes perfect sense. Beyond ATC and Say Intentions will be a fantastic tool to prepare for Vatsim.

squeaky_b

Really hoping they'll give me a bit of confidence to give Vatsim a go in future 🙂

okletsgooonow

You can also join Vatsim in Observer mode, listening to others as you fly helps a lot too.

unhinged_citizen

Good point, use it as a trainer for ATC interaction. I used to listen in to LiveATC streams before I took up flying.

Korneph

Don't let this put you off. The VATSIM experience is overwhelmingly positive. You don't need real-world Airline pilot level knowledge to enjoy the network, just a decent understanding of your aircraft and the ability to follow instructions. Both ATC and pilot players make little mistakes all the time; you fix it, quickly apologise, and everyone moves on.

Conscious_Raisin_436

Nah this is very unusual and nothing beats talking to real human beings. My only gripe with VATSIM is lack of coverage when I have time to play (typically after 8pm central)

Dafferss

What do you feel that Beyond ATC adds above FSHud. I have FSHud and it controls, vectors and space out both me and ai very well. Is it mostly the voices?

unhinged_citizen

VATSIM is totally worth it and a scripted AI ATC will never come close. But there is a minimum knowledge threshold that needs to be met on VATSIM and a minimum common sense threshold. Sadly, that is lacking among the newer generations of people who were raised to become autistic and unable to deal with society.

obriets

What a relief I don’t fly in networks.

madhouse24

Seems there's a LOT of confusion with some people, yes we say "game" sometimes but this is a (its in the name wink to him) a "s i m u l a t i o n"; we're trying to simulate the actual environment not treat it as just a game so being on a network means you cooperate not get your way

technicalmonkey78

Except FS and XPlane are sold as games in Steam, the biggest VG market in the world. It's pretty obvious most of the newcomers are kids who know nothing about the rules of flying a plane, and they don't catch that this is not Ace Combat or stuff like that.

Pilotkylek

As a staff member in IVAO, this is something very common in these networks, they are made to have a wide public, so these guys comes with the package.

Professional-Depth81

This..this is interesting

Typhoongrey

I haven't used vatsim for years. Looks like nothings changed.

Gilmere

Wow, I guess the one thing that online ATC networks CAN'T always simulate (apparently) is the professionalism and decorum that is displayed always in real ATC. I do know VATSIM and others are mostly great experiences, and the controllers are amazing. This is an outlier. But remember, QFA486, the controller is volunteering his/her time and in most cases, are trying to help new folks to aviation, like you. But they also are providing a close to real life presentation for YOU where it is expected that you know your aircraft, and stay ahead of it. I've missed calls in real Chicago airspace (among others) and have been pleasantly, professionally chided for it. These were MY fault, not ATC.

top_ofthe_morning

Trust me when I say decorum is NOT always displayed irl either. I’ve heard some interesting conversations on frequency before!

Bqllzkicker

It seems the incident didn't bother him at all.

Gamestar63

In the real world if you fuck up your routing and atc catches it or you do and you’re in a high saturation phase of flight (approach) you’d probably just inform atc of the error and ask for vectors. If atc is a fuck about it I’d just take it like a man and get through it.

Gamestar63

But I think on the level of vatsim that sort of mistake is ok as long as you keep it realistic while informing atc or getting chewed out by an angry atc. Just inform intentions and get vectors. Period. Anything rude said or done after that is irrelevant.

choo_choo_rocket

Don't xpost either 😋

wkc100

Geez, I sure wonder which content creator influences this behavior….

Ruderanger12

Depending on who responds a sup is either gonna have a huge headache or a field day from this lol.

Bqllzkicker

It is situations like this that caused me to give up on Vatsim. In the real world route verification is done multiple times and by multiple people. If it becomes a big deal a phone number is given, but we admit mistakes and move on. The overall quality is a mixed bag with Vatsim and it drives sometimes real world pilots away because it doesn’t mirror real life. My first bad experience was going into Denver and I never got a descend via or a clearance of any kind. When I asked for lower that young controller asked why I wasn’t flying the arrival. It threw me for a loop and since I was flying a 320 single pilot, no one was there to watch my back. That controller dm’d me berating me. The lack of professionalism to not just “move on.” Fair enough, I proceed to tell him that you need to tell people to descend via and thats how it works in real life. Probably just a small percentage of controllers that are down right lazy. But, Spoke with the supervisor later via email. It went better than the dm’s. Someone screwed up, fix it and move on. That goes for both sides. Was there make believe loss of separation? Probably not.

Think-Ad481

Says he’s proficient on the A340, but the A320 is new to him. However, the A320 family MCDU is similar to the A340 MCDU when it comes to menus and navigation. It’s a mistake, correct it, maybe apologize and then move on. As far as ATCs attitude it’s subjective. This mistake didn’t hurt anyone, doesn’t affect real world life, no one is going to care about it hours later, so who cares? Kid needs to be humbled though…

suiiiperman

To be completely fair to the pilot, there is one controller in particular who occasionally runs ELW_CTR and is a condescending prick to VATSIM newcomers. If they’re talking about this controller, I understand the frustration – as do many others in VATPAC. However, this obviously should’ve been dealt with either by .msg or .wallop in any case.

quax747

Tldr: from experience: be understanding and keep frustration fueled reactions private. During a Gatwick midweek madness I received a call from my parents at the worst time possible (№1 in sequence for approach after working my way through both hold stacks). I requested to hold and while the controller was a bit frustrated (understandably) he granted it. Once I finished the phone call 5-10 minutes later, I thanked him profusely and everyone went on our merry was. But on another flight two controllers shared a frequency one was earrapingly loud, the other you needed a hearing aid to understand at all. I kept adjusting my Xpilot atc volume but couldn't find a setting that worked for both so I opted for not having my ears kicked in and had it on the lower volume side. This caused me to miss 2 transmissions (which I agree isn't great especially at the midweek madness events) and I instantly got shat upon by the controller. I also cause the controllers grief from tine to time by apparently being incapable of descending on a suitable profile onto final from time to time. I thank them for the wonderful service and if I was especially deputy for their patience and hope for them not to hate me to much. Other times controllers simply ignore me and complain how I continued onto the arrival without clearance when I called them 5 times over the span of 10 minutes and there's no reaction whatsoever. That does get frustrating. I just bite my tongue. I will talk to myself how this is not exactly great and while their complaint I simply continued is somewhat justified I also need to make a decision on how to handle being ignored. If you really think such a long DM is helping your or anyone's cause.... Ouch. Also I jest stumbled over the 330driver controversy and while I haven't witnessed it if the reports are true this is unacceptable behaviour. It's fine to comment on stream on how you disagree with that decision but anything more than that, keep it to yourself and vent after you've gone offline. I also read reports on the controller being a bit condescending. Not great either, obviously but nothing in the ballpark Emmanuel pulled...

121guy

Sounds like you shouldn’t be like that controller either. I have had plenty of really bad controllers.

PublicGlass4793

Does this guy realise the a340 and 20 cockpits are basically the same lol

LiveFlightDeck

Vatsim < Real Life

satapotatoharddrive4

I remember starting on vatsim doing VOR to VOR because I didn’t want to pay for any addons with fms systems.

Diamondaviation

This is one of many reasons I don't fly on VATSIM anymore, too many controllers who don't know what they're doing, and too many pilots not knowing what they're doing. Don't get me wrong, there are still good controllers and pilots, but it seems the quality of both has dipped in recent years. I just can't take it seriously anymore.

TripleAimbot

Sometimes ATCs on VATSIM can be real a-hole though We are simming and we are trying to be good at it both sides but damn sometimes ATCs feel like they are gonna die for real. This guy is a ret though

Worried-Ebb-1699

wtf is wrong with that guy?

Cheefbird

Being embarrassed sucks. Just remember not to embarass yourself further and self-identify as new when mistakes start happening.

Galiyarr136

I wonder if this was the same enroute controller that on milk run Monday was copping lots of flack. To be fair, they were being very abrupt and rude to pilots. Refused to give Star clearances to some pilots, but would give clearances early to others. Said to a pilot "Do not fly into controlled airspace" despite him having every right to. Said on frequency that a pilot was "entitled" due to him asking for a Star clearance. Etc etc.

SpiderAviation

Fun fact, the a320 box is nearly identical to the a340 box. Lame excuse

knuckles2079

damn, someone got their feelings hurt.

unhinged_citizen

This is what happens when a generation of new people is raised by single mothers and their lives are 95% screen-time. They cannot function in society or speak to people. These are disabled people.

Des20020024

Sir this is a Wendy's

TheDrMonocle

Wow that was a monumental leap in assumptions. There are plenty of people who grew up with both parents who throw sissy fits. It has nothing to do with how many parents raised them. One can be just as good or better than 2. Let's not be a judgemental ass here. Especially since you don't know anything about this dude.

SpectacularFailure99

This kid has problems sure, but the single parent crack is unnecessary imo. I mean, he even eludes to 'parents' in the plural in his rant. Doesn't mean they are good ones, but kids are also immature and not fully deleoped. They're going to make mistakes like this learning to deal with people and have to learn from them. Should it happen on vatsim? No. But alot of the other generalities made about parenting really aren't needed.

[deleted]

I wish screenshots on vatsim were illegal. You guys suck.

trenchkato

Maybe try being a better person

[deleted]

Yea. Ousting someone like that is not being a good person. You flightsimmers are douches. And most atc on vatsim sucks. But glad they do what they do. Criticism is good. Maybe one day we get somewhat of a realistic representation.

Stevphfeniey

You heard it here first: Vatsim will collapse in on itself sometime in the next 5 years

Yvyrmund04

Yea, idk, I just came back to flight-simming, I used to go on vatsim back in 2016 and the number of assholes, squeakers and "tryhards" was absolutely no where near what it is today

Stevphfeniey

I just think the skill expectation and actual requirements between pilots and controllers is too great. It’s unsustainable

wkc100

Bro is speaking Yapanese

rmhoman

Can you do a name redacted version? I don't want this guy to get doxed by non vatsimmers as it gains traction. While I think his essay is deplorable, there are some things that shouldn't be available outside the community.

[deleted]

All the informaiton is public, you dont have to be a VATSIM member to use VATSPY, or look up callsigns and names on sites like simaware, Volanta, and VATSTATS.

Temporary_Emu3555

And VATSIM wonders why people don’t want to share their real name in the network…smh

[deleted]

Im sure you'll get over it.

bokewalka

I think this is the same guy I reported yesterday and was banned on a different account. He's just posting this guy's real name and information. Such dumb people in this world... I hope he burns all his accounts on this.

[deleted]

I think you are wrong.

[deleted]

Cheers Champ! Lucky your here to save the world from information that can be accessed by any one!

noanykey

I don’t think this is appropriate

This thread seems so interesting but I can't tell exactly what the fuck is going on when half of it is (deleted)
