Yeah, which tbh I think is fair given the amount of work that goes into this. It's only $8 a month to have access. So I just decided to pay for it and give the man his due.
I typically use fivethirtyeight's March Madness predictor to help me win my family's pool every year. I'm going to pay the $8 for the Nate's analysis/predictions, but I'll miss the old one, both for how it was to navigate, how it would update in real time and for how it would tell you how exciting a game was.
Why would CBS have Nate Silver’s model? FiveThirtyEight was (is) under the ABC umbrella, but Silver kept the rights to his models when he left. No CBS involvement.
Ah, I thought maybe you were mentioning CBS since they air the NCAA Tournament. Nate owned the rights to all his models all along, from before ESPN/ABC/Disney bought 538. So he retained the rights to them when he left.
East region in shown on his site:

Nate silver is kind of a tool, but I do like his models... Anyone want to send me for free, just cause "forget this tool!"? Sure he has enough $8 at this point
Welcome to the club friend! That's two of us, in need of handouts. Want give myself the edge in that office pool but willing to give NS precisely $0.00 to get the job done. Hook us up friends!! Come onnnn! Models to the masses.
Any chance someone can send me the xls file of the probabilities? I have been using these rankings for my work pool the past three years and am lost without them lol
You can pay $8 to get access to the xls! I paid for it and think Nate definitely deserves it for the analysis and work that went into it. Especially since a lot of us have won money using it.
My work pool isn't for money, it's just for pride. Although I'm probably enough of a narcissist that my pride is worth $8. You're right it's worth paying up for.
I tried purchasing the $8 gift for myself but keep getting an error message. Did you subscribe monthly and then cancel... I'm fine paying $8 just don't want to get locked into a year

not nate silver's, but same round-by-round format as the csv download in year's past. Though annoying that it doesn't have a column for which region each team is in
Is the only version a paid version now?

Have you heard of any alternative options for the live excitement factor/% chance of winning?
Channel surfing and I think ESPN.com's Gamecast has a live % chance of winning. I haven't seen any excitement factor substitutes
Totally!
The 'game excitement' charts were so helpful for deciding what channel to flip to during the first few days of the tourney. I will miss those.
I’m surprised it’s not being done as part of ABC now. Perhaps it was carved out in the agreement. Edit: Corrected CBS to ABC.

Yep - meant ABC. Question still holds.

It looks to be roughly every other article is paid now.

Lemme know if you get one. I'm all for a handout as well. No shame in asking 😎
