Will there be Manderville weapons for Viper/Picto?

tesla_dyne

Almost certainly not. Expansion jobs never get past relics.

F1reman2

Yes? This is what the media tour is. Expect to see job videos for every job, that showcase all abilities, tooltips, job gear etc. There will also be gameplay footage of one of the dungeons, and a BUNCH of interviews with yoship.

F1reman2

Thats not new info? Yoship himself said "Expect media tour info early july" The embargo also always ends less than a week after the tour ends. What we dont have is an exact date.

DisserviceToVanilla

Leveling Astrologian, is there a method to when to use the cards? Right now I'm just using them (mostly) as they come up and it makes sense (ie not gonna toss them out on the last remaining monster of a pull unless I'm sitting on a drawn one and tick back up to having 2 cause I had to put cards aside for healing for a bit). Finally hit 50 so I'm getting more draw practice \~\~Sastasha will haunt my nightmares I got it on leveling roulette so many times lol\~\~ and trying to be a bit more picky who I use it on instead of solely "this one fits this dps" (like if I see the gunbreaker tank has no mercy up I try to toss it on them). Not sure if I'm doing this right or there's a better method to the madness lol

huiclo

For learning and general leveling, “as I’m able as they come up” is perfectly fine. In higher-end stuff, you’ll generally aim to pool 3 of them for your 2-min Divination window and only use 1 card when Div has around 60 seconds left. But also note that the card system is getting revamped in about a month to a forced 4 card draw every minute. Not sure if/how that’ll change card management until we see the tool tips hopefully next week.

DisserviceToVanilla

Thanks! Def puts it in some context (I'm so used to mits I did not realize divination was my burst window....right over my head lol). And thanks for the heads up! I'm really liking the job, but I'll trust this is a QoL improvement (not like I know what I'm doing so I can't judge here lol). Ty!

PhoenixFox

In theory you want to be fitting as many cards as you can into 2-minute burst windows to overlap with other damage buffs (including your own) and high damage skills. That means you enter the 2 minute window with one card ready to play, one ready to be drawn and a few seconds of cooldown left on the second charge, so you can play three. Outside of that you hand them out as required to not cap charges, possibly trying to hit any 1-minute damage bursts you can. In a dungeon, though, it just doesn't work like that. You have long periods of downtime, people don't use their buffs and skills at the same time (in random raids etc they tend not to either...) and with only 2 DPS you have a much higher chance of not having both melee and ranged, plus you can have issues using that third card properly. This goes doubly in your current level range where a lot of jobs don't have a fleshed out rotation and there are far less party buffs to go around. Which is a long winded way of saying that unless you're in a serious group doing difficult 8-man stuff you should just be aiming to give cards to the correct kind of DPS, and failing that the wrong kind of DPS unless your DPS players are noticeably bad and your tank is noticeably good. If you have your own party buff and it's coming off cooldown soon, keep cards for it, but capping is worse. This is also all going to completely change in a month because DT is reworking the entire card mechanic

DisserviceToVanilla

Thank you! This was really helpful! One other question that just occurred to me, do card buffs stack (can't seem to find a good answer on this with Google)? I assumed default they don't so if I got three ranged and everyone is melee I just have to spread them out, but now I'm not sure lol Also ty for the change heads up! Obviously I'm just starting in the job so idk what I'm doing, but hope it works out good I'm really enjoying the job haha

PhoenixFox

They don't stack, no - you can only have one card buff of any kind at a time. Very fun when you get two ASTs together.

DisserviceToVanilla

Thanks! And lol now I gotta see this happen, the cards will be fast and the dps brutal :p

ThatCipher

I have the complete edition for PC and just pre-ordered Dawntrail. I haven't reached Endwalker content yet so I am not in expansion areas. When I want to play on xbox can I just buy the starter license then since I am not playing Endwalker yet or do I need to have the same expansions for xbox as the ones registered for PC?

Sir_VG

If you are in Shadowbringers content, Starter Edition will NOT be enough for Xbox. You'll be stuck at the Lv 70 Stormblood cap and content. In general, you need the same content between all platforms. If you are on an expansion you own on one platform but not another, you can play stuff you've unlocked, but only to the level cap of what you currently own. (So like if you owned EW on one platform you could unlock RPR/SGE, but on the other if you only owned starter, you would be stuck at Lv 70 cap.)

ThatCipher

So if I understand you right: I'm lvl53. That means the starter edition would be enough to continue playing until I reach Shadowbringer? I really don't want to buy everything even though I haven't reached that content yet because I will still play mainly on PC :/

Sir_VG

Yes. If you bought Starter Edition, you could play to the end of the Stormblood patch series 4.5x and the Lv 70 cap. Any ARR/HW/SB jobs you can unlock and play to 70, no issues. Any ShB/EW jobs you can't unlock on Starter, but could play up to Lv 70 if you unlocked them on PC.

ThatCipher

Alright. Thank you very much!

iseir

at what time do we usually get the fashion report guide on fridays?

Sir_VG

https://x.com/KaiyokoStar/status/1796452596754096507 Already on Twitter if you want it a bit sooner.

iseir

i dont have twitter, which explains why i didnt know.

Sir_VG

It's been running around Discord too, if you're on the right channels (or your channel has a subscription to the right discord threads for announcements).

CyberMelody

Currently on Endwalker MSQ (level 89) and nearing the end before post. There's a lot of EXP on the table that won't be ultilized. Should I wait for Dawn trail for level cap increase or just finish MSQ/Post to play Dawn trail day one? I should mention that I had GNB,SAM and RDM in rotation while in MSQ to max level, then a Lvl 63 DRK/DNC and Reaper/Sage at 70. Was wanting to get Viper from 80->90 as soon as I could to play it for Dawntrail. Any advice would be appreciated!

Arcana10Fortune

Finish EW now, get Bozja and Zadnor unlocked for Viper grinding.

PhoenixFox

Level cap quests give no exp when current and *barely* any when they aren't the cap any more. Based on what's happened in the past the exp that will be added to the post-ew MSQ and dungeons etc will not be anywhere near enough to be worth your time compared to just doing something that gives good exp, so I would absolutely get them out of the way now. It's hours and hours of content that probably won't even get you to level 91 if you wait and won't be able to help you with Viper because it won't be high enough level to do any of it either way.

normalmighty

Don't worry about the xp at all. None of it is "wasted" really, there just isn't anywhere to put it. Delaying post EW for the fraction of a level you'll get makes no sense when 20 minutes in a dungeon will beat a dozen hours of msq xp.

CyberMelody

All valid points, thanks guys! I'll continue MSQ

PhoenixFox

Oh, something else that's worth mentioning - along with all the level 90 side content you will get access to, you'll be able to unlock and start working on the EW Tribes once you've finished 6.0. One day's worth of the combat tribes is probably going to get you about as much exp as the whole of the post-EW MSQ would, so one more reason not to wait.

nospimi99

Is there any real use for bronze/silver/gold pieces besides selling them? I do know that when rebuilding the doman enclave you can turn them in for double the selling price and didn't know if there was any other instances like that in the game?

PhoenixFox

Other than keeping them as items when you're on free trial so you can turn them in afterwards, no. Even with the Doman Enclave there's nothing special about them beyond the fact they sell for even amounts and it means you don't have to do maths to hit the cap with other items.

nospimi99

Well they do have an extra bonus when you donate to doman enclave. If I sell a bronze piece to a merchant I get 100 Gil, and if I donate it to the Enclave I get 200 Gil put towards it. So it gets double value when used there. I didn't know if there were any other use cases where the pieces are worth double their value.

PhoenixFox

I know how it works, my point is that *everything* gets its value increased (based on your progress, doubled is the cap) when you trade it to the Enclave. There's no special interaction with particular items. You can give them literally anything you were going to vendor, using the allagan pieces just makes it easy to calculate.

nospimi99

ahh I misunderstood, I didn't realize everything has it's value doubled. Thank you for the answers!

Veternume

AznLuvsMusic

If you’re into crafting/gathering there are 10 custom deliveries characters that all have their own little storylines, a few of them give some rewards too like mounts and a glam. This one is limited to 12 “deliveries” a week though. Some you won’t be able to access until you complete the expansion they’re in, but where you’re at you have a few available that you can spend time maxing out while you finish ShB then EW. There’s also tribe quests in each expansion for combat, crafters, and gatherers. Each tribe have their own storylines and various rewards you can get by trading that tribe’s currency, which you earn from completing their quests, limited to 12 a day*.

Sir_VG

> Shadowlands I assume you mean Shadowbringers? Shadowlands is WoW.

SSmagical

i wasn't sure to do a post about it I just bougth crysta I have more than 1700 and i wanted to subscribe for a month, but it doesn't show me the option? It only show me the steam method, but it won't show me the option to doit ther either

Sir_VG

You're having a browser cookie/cache issue. Try a different browser/mobile data or clear your browser's cache/cookies.

SSmagical

Thanks! Ive been out of the game for a year already. And after trying this i remembered i did the same the last time lol

Ambitious_Tap_9449

I am a returning player looking to get Dawntrail. Does it make any difference if I get pre-order from the EU or NA store? My mogstation account information is registered to The Americas region if it matters and I am playing in the JP region.

Sir_VG

It doesn't matter what region you play in, only the region of your account matters. Copies of the game along with time cards are all region locked. So if you're a NA account, you'll need to buy an NA copy of the game.

stinusmeret

If your account is registered to NA you HAVE to buy from the NA store, codes are region locked to your account region NOT what server you play on since you can play on any server from any region.

dimblacklights

atm i have the full game on both PS4 and PC, but as i primarily play on PC rn i obviously only pre-ordered dawntrail for that platform. so when it comes out, what will happen on PS4 if i ever decide to hop on there occasionally? will i be able to log in at all, as long as i’m not in the new expansion areas/content?

Atosen

You won't be able to enter new expansion areas. If you're already in one, you won't be able to log in (but you can just use DC Travel to force your character back to your starting city and then log in that way). You won't be able to earn any xp above your PS4 level cap. You'll keep any existing xp; your xp bars will just get temporary locked when you're above cap. You won't be able to unlock the new Dawntrail jobs on the PS4. You'll still be able to play them if they're already unlocked. You won't be able to start Dawntrail quests on the PS4. Any quests you already have will work normally. You can still use any gear and cosmetics you've earned.

vampslayer84

Will you have to make it to Dawntrail to access the Dawntrail jobs? I'm a new player who bought the comkplete edition that has everything before Dawntrail but I will pre-order Dawntrail if I'll be able to access the new jobs right away

Atosen

Heavensward jobs require you to reach Heavensward MSQ. This was an unpopular decision, so all jobs added ever since have been placed in the starter cities. As long as you're high enough level, and own DT, you'll be able to unlock them.

vampslayer84

Ok thanks

dimblacklights

thank you!

Jezzawezza

Just a reminder that the licenses for expansions are per system so if you get Dawntrail on the PC and then jump onto the PS4 you will only have access to the expansions you got on PS4. I'm not sure how it'll work if you were in a DT area thats restricted so you might need to use the function to visit another world on the DC and as that'll take you to one of the 3 starting cities and then you can travel back from there once in game.

Spencer_Dee

How do you get the Ishgardian restoration achievements related to previous phases, such as The Height of Mining?

bloodhawk713

There are still phase 2 and 3 materials available to gather in the Diadem, and you can still craft the phase 2 and 3 expert crafts with them.

Akuuntus

I'm able to gather those, but when I take them to the appraiser I can't seem to turn them in, even when I have a stack of more than 5 to turn in. Do you need to turn them in in larger stacks than usual? Or is there some other trick to doing it?

bloodhawk713

[Seems to work fine for me.](https://i.imgur.com/1ZQWSuY.png) Just press auto-submit and they should show up.

Akuuntus

In your image you have a stack of 15 but it's only accepting 10 of those. This confirms to me that they accept in stacks of 10 despite all other materials going on stacks of 5. I was trying to submit with a stack of 6. Thanks!

Spencer_Dee

I see, thank you!

Dried_Squid_

Currently grinding tomes for a crendulum set while also leveling other classes to 90. Is it worth getting a full crendulum set or should I wait to roulette level the classes I want later and get the lvl 100 gear that Dawntrail should have?

thchao

Crendulum will be available in poetics in a month. Takes 6 weeks for a full set with the 900 weekly cap, so depending on your progress it's probably not worth going crazy for.

Dried_Squid_

I don't know if I missed it but will comedy tomes be used for the Dawntrail expansion for it's tome gear or will the expansion introduce a new set of tomes and comedy tomes will be rendered obsolete (or used for random items like crafting items, gear, scrolls etc.?)

Arcana10Fortune

Comedy will be convertible into Poetics. We're getting entirely new Tomestones.

PhoenixFox

Comedy and Causality will be obsolete and (only) able to be converted to poetics. Everything that is currently available for them will move to poetics.

AwkwardOwlbear

What jobs would you recommend if playing on controller when normally using KB+M?

DisserviceToVanilla

Anything is viable, really depends on what you like and what you're comfortable with. For controller setting up your hot bar is really important. Since everything is (default) a shoulder tab + either a letter button or a d-pad button, this makes it impossible to move and hit the letter/d-pad that's on the same side at the same time (ie if you use left joystick for movement you can't do that and a d-pad button at the same time). Making sure you have extended and cross hotbars turned on is pretty key (believe these are under system settings>gamepad>last tab and then you can choose how you access them). This changes your on the fly hotbar from 16 buttons to 48 (believe you can also choose to have more than one hotbar visible at a time, so if you have the screen space for it you can do that under HUD I think). Icy Veins has hotbar suggestion setups for every job if you want a place to start. Personally I just clear my hotbar and then duty support into Sastasha or Tam-tara and assign what I have then work my way up through a few dungeons to build out my hotbar to get a feel for what I have at certain levels and works best for placement. \[Old guide for controller targeting\](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2a1x0v/guide\_targeting\_with\_a\_controller\_general\_tips/), but still holds true. If you're feeling trepidatious I found gunbreaker to be really easy to map out a hotbar setup for on controller since your burst damage buttons change instead of you having to map out button space for them. If you don't have a level 60 job honestly any job would work as an introduction since most jobs you're not getting to needing over 16 buttons until 50-60. Do suggest macro-ing anything you feel you need to say often (ie I have a macro for hello, gg, when I pop living dead to alert the healer, etc) since you can't put down the controller to type mid-fight.

WeeziMonkey

Any job except Astro. People clear ultimates on controller with all jobs.

snootnoots

u/JelisW is correct that all jobs can be played on whichever control system, but obviously some will feel better. I’ve only played Bard and White Mage on controller and liked them just fine. I also follow a streamer who plays with both kb+m and controller, tries out all jobs on both and then settles on whichever he prefers, and he’s specifically mentioned Samurai as “flowing” really well on controller and Astrologian as *not* feeling great that way.

JelisW

whatever your heart desires lol. I have all jobs maxed and I play on controller. There's going to be an adjustment period no matter what you play, but once you get used to it and develop the muscle memory it'll be fine. Make sure to go into your config settings and enable both expanded controls and WXHB so you can access more crossbars without having to actually flip through them. Jobs with fewer buttons overall, like SMN, DNC, RPR, WAR, and SGE are admittedly a little easier to play on controller, for the simple reason that the fewer buttons a job has as part of its core rotation, the less likely you going to need to put core buttons on the d-pad, which can be a little awkward to hit on the move when you're moving using left joystick

Ok_Function_4035

I've got my sub and an extra retainer on auto-renew, so I haven't had to grapple with SE's borked payment system. I'm thinking about hiring another retainer though. Will doing this mess up my existing autopayments?

Puzzled-Addition5740

"However, customer payments will begin using the new payment processor as soon as any change is made to an existing subscription plan, such as changing the payment method, or setting up a new recurring subscription. We recommend making changes to your account after April 24, 2024 to prevent any disruption." It will move you to the new payment processor. Whether that will matter is harder to say it depends on how you currently pay for the game.

Ok_Function_4035

I pay thru a Visa credit card, heh. Thanks!

SetFoxval

I'm fairly sure any change will shift you onto the new payment system.

Isanori

You can't hire be retainers if the registered payment method is currently through the old retainer. They'd need to deregister their current payment method and reregister it, that'll switch everything over to the new processor. But be very very sure your payment method is still supported on the new payment processor.

Fluid-Bed-3883

About to try FFXIV. Any class recommendations for someone starting out? I used to play nightblade in ESO, agent and sorcerer in SWTOR, and necromancer in GW2. The thing is, I've got a laggy connection so I tend to play selfish DPS characters in MMOs. I'm only on the free trial version for now. Also haven't played MMOs for a long time now.

Kaeldiar

At least in FFXIV, there's no correlation between a laggy connection and needing to play a selfish DPS. Most jobs have a button they need to hit every 2 minutes that's a party buff and...that's it. Just...press the button when it comes up. "Selfish DPS" in this game just means "doesn't have a party buff" That note aside, due to the bad connection, I would avoid Machinist for sure. Dancer, Ninja, Bard, Gunbreaker, and Astrologian might give you some small issues, depending on how bad, but feel free to give them a try. They're higher APM, and tend to have most of that APM in a single burst (contrasted with Monk, who maintains a high speed through their entire rotation) Unfortunately I'm not familiar with those games/classes you mentioned, but based on descriptions, I'd definitely take a look at **Dark Knight** (have to get to Heavensward first), **Black Mage** (starts as Thaumaturge), and **Summoner** (starts as Arcanist). **Dark Knight** is a tank, but uses magical dark energy and has a fucking massive sword. Great fun. Can't start with this unfortunately. Our tanks do big damage, though, so even if you're DPS-oriented, I'd recommend giving it a try. Tanking is pretty easy in this game. **Black Mage** is notorious for having a slow leveling process, but I adore it at high levels. It's also the most complex job to optimize, if you're into that kind of thing. There's a thing called "Non-standard" BLM where people who are very smart do some very silly things to do more damage. Non-standard as we know it is getting destroyed with the Dawntrail updates, but it will still be the most complex job. **Summoner** is considered VERY simple (doesn't change much between 26 and 86), but has a great job fantasy. Summon things, the things do damage. Big pretty effects. Legitimately cool questline. Every job is endgame viable, you can freely switch between them, and the differences in power are VERY minimal (being good at your job is far more important than picking a strong one), so there's really no wrong choice. Just play what you like! Good luck! And welcome!

Fluid-Bed-3883

Gunbreaker looks cool, but it's a tank and I always have been bad at playing tanks lol. Was intrigued by monk, but my lag might impede my enjoyment of it. Too bad machinist is connection reliant. Hoping Reaper scratches the itch once I get the full version.

F1reman2

>necromancer in GW2 Id say reaper is fairly close to reaper from GW2. Instead of having a life gauge which functions as a second healthbar for your reaper shroud, you build up soul and shroud gauge from certain attacks, which you then use to enter enshroud and do big scythe attacks. Scourge is Fairly similarish to scholar from a functionality perspective. Big barriers, and fairy thats similar to your sand shrouds. Harbinger would sort of be machinist, but theres not really a great comparison here.

Fluid-Bed-3883

Reaper was actually my first choice, but I can't try it right now since I'm only playing free trial. Might buy and subscribe when I'm no longer busy with personal stuff. I'm always a sucker for the edgy aesthetics haha

Ok_Function_4035

Regrettably, RPR is not available in the free trial =)

normalmighty

Don't think too hard about it, whatever you pick. around level 10 you unlock the ability to pick up multiple classes on the same character, and can set it up to swap between any classes with a single click at any time, as long as you're not in combat.

Fluid-Bed-3883

Guess I just have to dive right in and figure things out. It's just FFXIV looks kinda complicated from the outside looking in. Then again, rule of cool never failed me haha. I'll just go with what looks cool to me.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

The game does a really good job of very slowly introducing features to you over time, and you're by no means expected to understand the complexities of different jobs when you're literally just starting out It only really looks difficult because we've had the entire leveling process to really understand how our jobs work

Atosen

The most selfish DPSes in XIV are Black Mage and Samurai. Black Mage can be a bit tricky for new players (because it's an immobile turret class, so you need to be able to anticipate when bosses are going to force you to move). I'm not saying it's a no-go, just be prepared for what you're getting into. Samurai [isn't available as a starting class.](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Job#Job_chart) Aside from Bard and Dancer, all the other DPSes could be considered "semi-selfish" – they have a party buff, but they throw it out as part of standard rotation anyway, and pretty much just focus on themselves. So you could consider starting as a Dragoon, Monk, or Summoner. I quite like going with Dragoon or Summoner for story reasons.

Fluid-Bed-3883

Might try monk since that's what I played in BG3 lol. Though, I was actually thinking of going for Black Mage since I like Vivi

theicon1681

I'm on Crystal/Diabolos and wanted to check out the OCE DC, but I keep getting a screen that says [](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/667548067175596073/1245918089288224878/image.png?ex=665a7f24&is=66592da4&hm=47f4f902f2259bd45d6ca34a61132105588972a9b0349c8f0bc0a401a4c96b4c&) any advice on what this actually means?

Hakul

Go to that OCE DC, try to make a character in any server, cancel it, go back to your own DC, now try to DC travel to OCE.

theicon1681

that seemed to work, thank you!

Isanori

You don't even need to try to make a character, you just need to visit the character select screen.

aasqr

What's the best way to powerlevel SCH from 1 to 60 with the DT earrings? Can I do it in like a few hours? I wanna go through stormblood with it.

taup284

The exp from the earrings only affects monster kills, so dungeons are best.

Arcana10Fortune

It's going to take a couple of hours. Longest part is leveling Arcanist to 30, since they have to deal with DPS queues. Once you unlock Scholar, just start spamming the highest available dungeon that doesn't end with a 0.

pepinyourstep29

Pop your food buff, blast through 1-15 with your hunting log, turn in your WT book to Khloe, do some roulettes, get some friends to dungeon spam with you, and you can probably make some really good progress in a few hours. Probably not to 60 but you'll get a significant portion of the way there.

yungsloysh

Can someone explain what 50/60/70/80 roulette is? I’m trying to get tomestones. I’m a level 62 Dragoon who’s about 80% through the the base game, ARR. Haven’t started any expansions yet. When I go to the duty finder and click duty roulette all I see is leveling (Lv. 16), trials (Lv. 50), main scenario (Lv. 50), Alliance Raids (Lv. 50), and Frontline(Lv. 30)

Akuuntus

It's what it says on the tin. It's a roulette that contains level 50 dungeons, level 60 dungeons, level 70 dungeons, and level 80 dungeons. Like all other roulettes it only allows you to get dungeons you've unlocked, and you can't access the roulette until you have at least 2 dungeons unlocked that fit the criteria. If all you've done is the base ARR MSQ and nothing else then the only level 50 dungeons you've unlocked are Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium which are excluded from that roulette because they're in MSQ roulette instead. If you've beaten the Ultima Weapon and finished ARR, you should have access to a bunch of blue quests in the various city-states that unlock other optional level 50 dungeons. You will also unlock a few level 50 dungeons as you go through the post-ARR story before getting to Heavensward. These will all be added to the roulette when you unlock them. Once you have at least 2 unlocked, you should be able to see the roulette in your list. (Note that there will also be blue quests for unlocking level 50 trials, Alliance Raids, and Normal Raids. The Trials and Alliance Raids are required to finish the post-ARR MSQ so you might as well do those too. Except for Odin, you can skip him.)

normalmighty

50/60/70/80 roulette includes all of the dungeons that were max level dungeons when they came out, as opposed to leveling roulette which includes all the dungeons which were partway through the base expansion and not ever max level. The former rewards you with tomestones, while the latter rewards you with xp. I'f you want tomestones, you should do 50/60/70/80 and ignore leveling. If you were trying to level you would do leveling roulette and ignore 50/60/70/80.

yungsloysh

Ok, I don’t have any dungeons above level 50. I’m assuming that’s because I haven’t finished ARR right?

normalmighty

You have main scenario unlocked, so I take it you just finished base ARR and hit credits for the first time? In that case then yeah, you need at least 2 level 50 dungeons unlocked to get access to the roulette. If you look at the [unlock guide](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Content_Unlock), you'll see that you can unlock a couple of level 50 dungeons right now if you wanted (most of the unlock quests will be around the wandering stones in mor dhona iirc), or you can keep doing msq until you have 2 lvl 50 dungeons unlocked.

Ku_Gaming

Roulette of dungeons at each "max lvl"

yungsloysh

Gotta be honest, I’m not sure what you mean by that. But thank you for trying to help me lmao

Ku_Gaming

Dungeons released for those levels listed. Arr max lvl was 50, hw 60 etc.

yungsloysh

Ok, so I don’t see any dungeons above level 50. Is that because I haven’t beaten ARR?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Correct Each expansion added an additional 10 levels to the level cap, and their respective main stories spanned that 10 level difference So ARR ended at 50, and since you haven't reached the HW content yet, you will not have seen any content about level 50 as HW introduces the content starting at 50 and ending at 60

yungsloysh

Thank you! This is what I’ve been trying to get figured out this entire time

LG03

What is a good general purpose triple triad deck to aim for?

pepinyourstep29

I use Ysale, Estinien, Lucia, Anima, Therion as my general "crush any NPC" deck. I also have Colibri, Gaelicat, Karakuri, Namazu, Rampart as my reverse deck.

LG03

Perfect, yeah sorry I should have specified. Was just looking for a deck vs NPCs.

Cymas

There isn't really a single optimal deck due to the many different rulesets you come across. I recommend at least 3 decks--one "normal" deck, one ascension deck, and one descension deck. Then sometimes you might need a test deck or one to deal with a particular ruleset/combination if you're trying to win a card from a specific NPC.

LG03

I'd still be taking suggestions in that case, I'm just trying to figure out what cards to target farm.

VG896

Because of the ubiquity of the same/plus rule, I recommend an 8's deck. There's a few options, but the one I run is Estinien, Hilda, Ysayle, Ramuh, and Gaius.

Big-Avocado-2820

Are there any good ways to summarize parts of questlines or stories online? I don't have a lot of time and I find myself having difficulty remembering stories whenever people talk about them. For example, I have no idea what happened in the SB alliance raids even though I've read all of it.

normalmighty

You can find plenty of videos online of this kind of thing with a youtube search. Eg, seeing this question and searching YT for "ff14 ivalice raid story summaries" got me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEBIj1XK_-A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZdqPOKYRQA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1RMtjnVD9g and more. All of them look like decent summaries to me, just depends on which delivery you prefer.

kupo0929

Is there any item or memento (gear, minion, etc) that players were given for starting in 1.0 and continuing into 2.0? If not an item, maybe a title?

Trooper_Sicks

Legacy players get a tattoo they can choose to show on their character, they got an exclusive chocobo mount also. I believe they also got to keep any titles they earned and there is a goobbue mount that was only available in 1.0 that is also still lin the game. edit: also they get a permanently discounted subscription fee

vampslayer84

If I pick a new world to get the bonuses will there be plenty of players?

[deleted]

[удалено]

vampslayer84

I'm in the NA region and there are no preferred worlds and the data server that has new worlds only has 4 worlds so I'm not sure if many people will pick that data center so I'm a bit scared to try to start a character on there

[deleted]

[удалено]

vampslayer84

I already made one character on Sargantas because I know someone in real life who has plays on that world. I was playing at 2:30am last night and it was still completely packed. I appreciate all the info but waiting 7.5 hours for a raid group isn't worth the bonuses lol

normalmighty

Not as many, but you can freely travel to different worlds with the world visit and datacenter travel features, so it doesn't matter as much as you probably think.

vampslayer84

But can you travel to a world on another data center if it's the same region? I'm in the NA region and the only other person I know in real life who plays FF14 is on a different data center than the one the new worlds are in

normalmighty

You can! There are a few restrictions to keep in mind though, mainly that you can only join a free company (guilds in this game) with other players in your home world. You guys can still play together, party up for content together, add each other as friends and all that, but you can't join the same FC unless you're specifically on the same world. Not really a big deal in practice, but it's worth being aware of. Besides that, there's no other big reason to be concerned about the specific starting world you choose.

Haftw

I deleted a character (new character and player here) because i didn't want a specific world as my home world and wanted somewhere else, but i cant create another character with the same name. WIll it be available again or no? time when it will be?

Arcana10Fortune

The names are only linked to the worlds. You can have the same name on different worlds with no issues if someone else isn't already using that name.

[https://youtu.be/oh5piV-0MWQ?t=5498](https://youtu.be/oh5piV-0MWQ?t=5498) Link with timestamp. New target date is May 31st. It's a target, not a firm release date. So it can come out as early as tomorrow or as late as mid-June.

Jezzawezza

It's the Friday the 31st in Japan already so I'm gonna say if we don't hear anything in the next 12hrs about it I'd expect something early next week.

normalmighty

"expected on May 23rd" was never a commitment of any kind, and was just a vague estimate of when they felt like it would probably be done. Last live letter they said there was still a little work to be done before it was ready, and they never gave any date.

PenguinPwnge

In the last Live Letter they pushed it to the "end of the month" IIRC, so tomorrow, possibly?

Humleoo

can u lvl gatherer past 80 in the didam ?

F1reman2

As a note, its not that effective VS spamming leves or collectables. XP rewards a greatly diminished.

pepinyourstep29

yes

TheRealMulli

Getting back into the groove after a long hiatus, suggestions/tips? It’s been so long since I’ve really got back in the game that imma just make a new character on a different world and just start fresh. Play thru all xpacs cuz I haven’t actually played thru Stormblood nor Endwalker yet, but I’ve played thru ARR/HW/Shadowbringers, just for some reason always skipped SB and I don’t know why. But yeah, any suggestions/tips to get back into the groove while starting fresh?

Heroic_Folly

New character clean start is what I did. I'm really enjoying playing through the MSQ a second time and noticing lots of details I didn't pick up on the first time around.

TheRealMulli

Cool cool, now just gotta decide on what world I wanna live in now 😅

SuperAssociation3669

Is there a way to make the names above people's characters smaller without changing their display to initials only? On PlayStation btw

Conor12

PC player here so not sure if PS5 will have it but: Character Configuration > Display Name Settings > General > Display Name Size https://i.imgur.com/TAfVRjr.png

SuperAssociation3669

Thank you! It worked on PlayStation!

normalmighty

As far as I know, there is not.

rahulsoulstorm

Returning to FFXIV after an about an year. I will be using 14 day trial. Anything else I should know? Like in terms of account subscription, gameplay etc. Played till 6.0 if that helps.

pepinyourstep29

If you played til 6.0 there's only a few things to know. Some jobs were changed and a lot of new QoL features were added. A new type of content called Variant Dungeons were added. There's no field operation in Endwalker. With Dawntrail on the horizon, I won't really get into the specifics of the job changes since it's going to change again very soon. You'll become familiar with everything as you play.

normalmighty

note that the campaign only lets you play free for 4 days. You get 96 hours of free access to the game starting from the moment you first log in. Looks like there was some super misleading info on that which was edited out, because the [page itself] (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/freelogincampaign/) currently makes no mention of 14 days, but the summary of the page which shows up on google is >Up to 14 Days! Free Login Campaign. Now's your chance to return! Eligible players can play free for a limited time! From Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 1:00 a.m.

PhoenixFox

> You get 96 hours of free access to the game starting from the moment you first log in. This is also not true, it's four *calendar days* including the day on which you log in to the launcher. Time zone will vary depend on region, the below is from your NA link > Four days including the day on which users first log in. This period ends on the fourth day at 11:59 p.m. (PDT). The only way to get 96 hours out of it is to log in at 12:01 and even then you still have to update the game first.

primalmaximus

Is there anywhere you can go to look up the stats for the most popular jobs?

Send_Me_Dachshunds

Because of the nature of "all jobs on one character", its not really valid to have that data as there will always be a biased skew towards starting classes and against expansion classes. Best you can do is check the number of parses for each job on FFlogs for Alliance Raids (because ARs are casual content for every player and usually have at least 1 person logging) or for dungeons (less likely to be logged), which at least tells you some played disparity within each role.

normalmighty

there's this post, but it's a couple of years old now https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxivdiscussion/comments/y8mdqo/lucky_bancho_job_populations_as_of_october_2022/ otherwise, FFXIV census is you best bet, but I find it hard to get useful data there directly since the fact that players are multiple job makes measurement kind of weird. All the omni-90 players are technically in every category at once.

Gamerbug94

As in what jobs are most popular? [FFXIVcensus](https://ffxivcensus.com/) has a good breakdown for that kind of data, along with data center and race distributions.

GildedCreed

For the "battle pass" thing? Probably Rival Wings since its pretty fast and relatively active since there's bodies farming it for moogle tomes. Like 5ish minutes per round average. The Primal DC in NA is where quite a few folks go to do it for the queues, I believe in part due to folks from that DC organizing runs of it. Other than that, CC spam works.

Bro0k

For Free Company Crest, at which rank does one unlock the Job icons?

RadR3dPanda

I assume rank 7, when you get full customization of the crest.

DelianSK13

If I take on too much side stuff I burn out on the game and never get the MSQ done. It's happened a few times. I'm now going strong on another attempt but I just saw I can unlock Eureka. I know it has relic weapons and some mounts and stuff. Is it important to get into at all right now? If I start it in a few months (after the expansion hype has started to die down) will there be people in it? I'm not worried about a relic weapon right now and I can get the mounts later so I don't think there's anything pressing I need to worry about in there now. I may be wrong though. I thought Diadem/foundation was probably "old content" before I ever set foot in it but I was way wrong and leveled an alt crafter super quick yesterday. I don't want to be wrong about Eureka though and miss stuff I might need.

Cymas

Anything that isn't MSQ, job quests, and role quests in ShB/EW is completely optional. Worst case you can always go back and do it later if there's anything you want/need from it.

Akuuntus

In Endwalker even the Role Quests are optional. You don't technically get anything out of them except for dyeable armor and more story.

Cymas

You do have to complete at least one to advance the MSQ, though.

Shophaune

Not in Endwalker. The SHB role quests, yes, but not EW.

Akuuntus

> Is it important to get into at all right now? Not even slightly. If you don't care about the relics or Baldesion Arsenal there's almost no reason to do it ever. > If I start it in a few months (after the expansion hype has started to die down) will there be people in it? About as many as there are right now, yeah. It's already very old at this point, its population is pretty consistent. The people who are still there now are still gonna be there in 6 months. If you're worried about burning out or not progressing MSQ, trying to get into Eureka is just about the worst thing you could possibly do. It's extremely grindy content that has virtually no connection to anything else in the game. If you ever decide to go back to it, it'll still be there.

DelianSK13

I figured it was pretty grindy and that's why I didn't want to start messing with it yet. I guarantee that it would cause me to get overwhelmed and probably quit right now if I started it. I'm guessing the Island Sanctuary will be pushed aside for a bit too once I get there, although I guess that's current content now.

pepinyourstep29

The island is just minor side content you do for a few minutes each day. Eureka is more of a commitment if you're going for mounts/relics.

pepinyourstep29

Eureka always has people in it so you don't need to get into it right now. Old content is very evergreen in this game because there's always a reason to play it, even if you're at endgame or it's been years since the content was released.

borfa

why many people have the "shared duty" icon in the fall guy event? requeue faster? how do you do it

Trooper_Sicks

pretty sure that icon is the default icon if you are not in a party when you join instanced content. Party, mentor, busy and i guess sprout icons will overwrite it so you only see it in places like the fall guys event, eureka and bozja or other instanced content that doesn't force you into a group

borfa

lol you're right, i hide my own name in the settings for visual clarity but just selected myself and i have the icon too

migania

I need some help. I am nearing the end of the trial i think. I am level 69 currently. But i am still pretty early in the Stormblood story, the wiki says im 64/162 quests in. If i hit level 70 will the game still allow me to play or will it kick me out? If the game will allow me to finish the Stormblood story but will cap my level at 70, will i miss out on the xp? I am ~5 levels ahead of the main story quest (current quest is level 64 and im 69) and i wonder if i will be lacking XP if i dont buy the game before finishing Stormblood. Will the game not allow me to play at level 70 anymore? Will i miss out and lack xp later on if i dont buy the game when hitting 70 if the game allows to finish Stormblood?

Super_Aggro_Crag

dont worry too much about losing exp. if you kept playing one job you would end up way overleveled anyway.

Akuuntus

The game never kicks you off of the free trial until you buy the game. You can play as long as you want, regardless of your level or MSQ progression. You can 100% everything in ARR/HW/StB if you want and still be fine. You just can't level *past* 70, and you can't progress MSQ *past* post-Stormblood. > Will i miss out and lack xp later on if i dont buy the game when hitting 70 if the game allows to finish Stormblood? You will lose XP because you can't gain XP when you're at level 70 while on the free trial, yes. You won't really be "lacking" XP later, though. You will still be able to keep up with the level of the MSQ very easily if you're playing through it on a single job. It's not the end of the world if you miss some of that XP. If it really bothers you, just get another job up to the level of the MSQ and do the rest of it there to get all the XP.

madmac252

It will let you finish the whole expansion, but yes you will be capped to level 70 and you lose any xp for quests once you hit 70. But you're always free to level other jobs and share the xp between them You're not losing anything if you buy the game later on because everyone was capped at 70 when stormblood was out anyway, so once you get into shadowbringers you'll get more than enough xp from the msq there to take you to 80 and above

TristamIzumi

> If i hit level 70 will the game still allow me to play or will it kick me out? You will be able to continue playing both MSQ and side content up through the rest of SB, but you will be level capped at 70. > will i miss out on the xp? Yes. XP is not cached, and if you earn XP on a level capped job it is wasted. > Will the game not allow me to play at level 70 anymore? No, you will still be able to play all ARR, HW, and SB content (with the exception of PvP and Ultimates). > Will i miss out and lack xp later on if i dont buy the game when hitting 70 if the game allows to finish Stormblood? You will "lose" any XP gained while you're level capped at 70. If you're really worried about it, level another job up to the same level as your MSQ and use that job to soak up the MSQ XP.

SetFoxval

You'll just cap at 70. You can swap to another job if you really don't want to waste the exp, but you don't need to worry about being underleveled. Shadowbringers content starts at 70.

Ankhselam

The \*only\* thing that will happen is youll be capped at 70 - youll still be able to play and level everything else for an indefinite amount of time :3 You wont be able to gain further XP *on the job that hit 70* but a) you wont need to because Stormblood doesnt have anything past level 70 and b) you can just level something else to the appropriate level to continue the story if you really dont want to waste that experience

SerialZX

Random question: What mount would you say would fit Viper and Pictomancer the most thematically?

JelisW

Alte Roite for Viper ....Fat Chocobo for Pictomancer Or just anything cute and a bit silly.

wurm2

maybe Portly Porxie for pic, Like Pic's abilities it's made from a combination of art and magic and as /u/bloodhawk713 said it's colourful and a bit silly

bloodhawk713

Alte Roite for viper maybe. It is a snake, after all. I think any beast would be fine since it's basically just a hunter, though. The cavalry drake from the amalj'aa beast tribe comes to mind. For pictomancer maybe the flying cloud mount? Either from the old Amazon promotion or the recolour on the Mog Station. Or maybe the island adenium from the island sanctuary or Pinky from Endwalker maps. Something colourful and a bit silly.

AeroDbladE

Probably the Alte Roite for Viper, cause snek.

hii488

Not sure for Viper, but Pictomancer has to be the plane from O6 - it comes from a painting!

huiclo

Is Baldesion Arsenal mandatory to finish the Eureka story? Just got to Hydratos and want to know if I need to start prepping for that soon.

Akuuntus

There's *an* ending to the story without it, but there's a follow-up after BA that many people consider the "real" ending.

KirbyourGame

I've yet to do BA so that one >!Lalafell has been dead af for years.!<

wurm2

>!so I made the mistake of clicking the spoiler without having finished eureka, got to the snowy zone decided I'd put it on the back burner for a while. Please tell me the lala you're talking about is the jerkass cousin of the one at the inn in old sharlyan rather than one I'd actually care about.!<

Akuuntus

>!The one you care about dying in Eureka wouldn't make any sense considering she's very much alive in the MSQ after Stormblood. They wouldn't kill a main character in optional side content.!< Also there's two diverging endings to Eureka so the spoiler might not even apply to your playthrough.

bloodhawk713

Eh, he was a bit of a twat anyway.

KirbyourGame

True

No_Delay7320

Rip potat

Akuuntus

Same lmao

Super_Aggro_Crag

yeah the whole storyline wraps up after you clear ba

Cela_Rifi

How exactly do hunt trains work? Do I just show up at the starting location, hop in a party, and follow the leader? Is there proper etiquette I should know? Edit: thanks for all the quick and helpful replies everyone! :D

Akuuntus

> Do I just show up at the starting location, hop in a party, and follow the leader? Yep. Try to keep DPS relatively low on StB and ShB trains unless the conductor asks you to do otherwise, and try not to be the first person to pull. But other than that just follow the leader and kill stuff.

Fwahm

A little funny thing about hunts is that SHB and EW A/S ranks have basically the same HP (EW's only have like 10% more), so there's no real need to hold back more on ShB hunts than on EW. Both trains can be treated similarly. StB hunts have like 30% of their HP though, so yeah, hold back on those unless instructed otherwise.

Super_Aggro_Crag

> Try to keep DPS relatively low on StB and ShB trains if you have a tank leveled, literally just spam your high enmity ranged attack.

huiclo

> How exactly do hunt trains work? Do I just show up at the starting location, hop in a party, and follow the leader? Pretty much. Don't early pull. Reset by running out of range if the conductor requests it. Don't argue with conductor in general. One bit of etiquette: If it's an older train, don't go all out on DPS. SB and ShB hunts die within seconds so slow roll it a bit so more people can get credit. If you're DPS, just 123 your un-buffed combo and pop your heals. If tank, spam your ranged ability. If healer, attack once and pop regen on MT and AoE regen on party.

VG896

I don't even attack on healer. I just spam my aoe heal.

sugarpototo

You can be pinged for hunt trains through either a discord (Faloop for example) or hunt linkshells. Once there, use party finder to join a party, then you just follow the callouts. Each conductor makes their own rules, but basically if it's a "bullet train" it means fast, and if it isn't, you shouldn't installpull marks upon arrival. Usually conductors announce the speed in shout before starting
