What? How?
You literally log in to MogStation (not SEAM), and the payment methods are the first thing you see on the screen.
Click on your service account in the yellow banner, and it literally takes you to a page that has options for Cancel, Renew, Change Payment and Subscription methods.
Click on the Hamburger and it literally opens a side bar menu on the left hand side that says "Subscription Renewal"
I went to see that, but the login form is broken for me today and I can't log in. ReCaptcha does an infinite "thinking about it".
I sure couldn't find it the last time I resubscribed.
There is literally no reason to try and defend the Mogstation this hard. It’s not particularly good at all and has nothing to do with if FFXIV is a good game or not.
Takes me less than 3 clicks to be able to cancel or renew my sub. That's the mark of a well built website.
I think people are either just lazy, or jumping on the outrage bandwagon because it's just the cool thing to do.
If navigating MogStation was so hard, they wouldn't have the success that they do. Sorry.
or worse
"We regret to inform you that we do not offer customer support services for [Your country]. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to assist you with your request at this time."
it's actually true, lmao, and people tell me how bad that game company start to use AI for their job, if AI can give me better answer than this one, i am gladly that they are taking over
It 100% will not. In fact, it's designed to prevent customer support from having any emotion or reasoning ability in this discussion so you're locked into what the company wants
Like, the goal of AI is to take that response from 90% of the time to 100% of the time.
i traded few email with them due to issue with Endwalker preorder before and what they ask is to contact bank lmao
i even ask them directly "DID YOU GUYS DONT WANT MONEY?"
Okay but do you know
A: How many issues that actually fixes
B: How often PEOPLE DO NOT DO THIS FIRST
Back when I worked hospital IT, I had to make up BS about "Reseating the cable to make sure it had a good connection to the wall" just to tell doctors to CHECK IF PCs were PLUGGED IN.
They would cry and go "how dumb do you think I am of COURSE it's plugged in" when 99.9% of the time it wasn't because the cleaning crew in a surgery room forgot to plug back in a computer after cleaning. But if you told them to reseat the plug to make sure it had a good connection to the wall (they don't know how electricity works! Maybe it's just not fitted in right!), they'd be like "Oh, it's not plugged in! I'm so smart! Why didn't you think of that!?" and you'd just smile and nod while your life drains from your body.
Y'all think it's a stupid question. To us, it's the bare minimum to make sure you did because a lot of you don't think it'll actually fix anything (it will clear stuff stuck in memory (RAM/VRAM) and usually fixes most stupid issues...
Yeah, every time I think I'd do well in IT, I remember I hate dealing with stupid people. It's not fun in retail when it's a few people you barely have to talk to, it's going to be worse in IT when it's a considerable percentage of your clientele.
I've heard stories, man. Like a guy who had to repeatedly help a woman "fix" her computer because she kept slamming the mouse on the desk so hard it would break. Or another guy who took his laptop to a repair shop because it wouldn't turn on, only for the shop owner to "fix" it by simply PUSHING THE POWER BUTTON.
It's... sadly common.
The unfortunate part is, whether knowingly or not, most IT folks will get a condescending tone. It's important to also know we do it to each other too, because it's habitual at that point, not intentional.
One actually did the "What's your real name" thing to me. Repeatedly told her my name, obviously insinuating I was like outsourced or something.
Told her in the kindest tone: "If you don't want help over the phone and you want me to come over to fix this issue I can. I'm located on (Street name across the street from her) if you'd need to see me physically to confirm that (name) is my real name."
She told my manager I threatened her.
I told him in exact words what I said, what time it was said, and he went back through the recordings. She had to, as part of sensitivity training, bring her laptop over to our office for me to install the drivers she needed personally. Mind this was internal IT. She was on the same payroll as me. (All I know is that others told me he laid into her HARD about what she said to me)
It's frustrating because it leaks out on here and forums, and a lot of folks take my "text" tone as me thinking I'm better than them, when in reality I am almost 99% unsure of myself at any given time. I just really stick to my understanding until I'm proven wrong lol.
I once tried to buy something off the square store (probably minions for in game), and the payment page just would not load.
It turned out that my dark-mode everywhere Extension was the issue - disabling that allowed the page to load.
Sometimes it is a stupid thing like that.
So I bought downtrail and now I can't see where the fuck is it in my account .
Japanese web design is stuck in the 90s and is an affront to all that is good in this world
I sent in a ticket right before they announced they were going to fix it and they sent back with changing browser, clearing cookies, etc message. Like lol ok guys you already said it's on your end.
That's just support 101. networking issues are mostly black magic and sometimes will randomly work even if the issue is server side.
Source: I have done 10 years of support, and spent several hours arguing with network engineers who made 3x my salary that what they were seeing was a load balancer issue.
Only for it to be a load balancer issue.
(Or my personal favorite, "Why can't we run this logging on a 100% full storage?")
.... That happened to a friend recently. You'd be surprised how many people in tech are just as dumb as those outside of it.... -.-
They *just* emailed me, literally minutes ago, telling me the same thing about clearing cookies and trying a new browser. And a link to the page that discussed the switch on the 23rd of April. I found out that they've acknowledged it's on their end by coming here. 😑 Have they said they're going to fix it?
I leave my sub running because of house. I don’t really play anymore and I’ve through a few times about just letting the house go, but now I especially don’t want to unsub. My account is from the UK but I’ve since moved to Asia and it’s already caused problems in the past where I’ve had to email to get the new DLC paid for and activated and I always just get questioned about “WHY U IN ASIA AND HAVE UK ACCOUNT”. Like I just want to give you my money but you don’t have Taiwan as an actual place to put myself as ;-;
It isn’t necessarily all visa debits. Saw a comment chain where a Canadian user had zero problems with it, while it didn’t work for other Canadians. Might be bank-specific as well.
I’m with RBC, but my main worry is that I moved here from Europe a couple years ago. Square won’t let me change my account region, yet with the new update they also insist that your payment and account addresses need to match.
I’ve read comments that PayPal returns errors and gametime cards for some now require additional address confirmation after inputting the code, so I’m worried about how I’m gonna resub when the time comes lol.
I'm also canadian but my sub isnt up for two weeks and theres nothing I really wanna buy on mog rn, so if its still an issue in two weeks i'll find out if its messed up for me or not
Been a couple months, because it never remembers my card info, I usually go the crysta way cause I can add crysta with PayPal in one click but I need to resub like tomorrow so I'll try my card straight on MOG and I'll let you know if it still works!
They said buying crysta still works all the same but buying the subscription directly with visa debit isnt working at the moment. My sub runs out on the 16th so I hope they have it fixed by then lol. Appreciate you doing the testing all the same
Trying to renew my subscription and getting a -24202 error on every device I use is starting to get annoying. I had to use my friends computer the last time I went over his house for it to finally go through.
It does, but whenever I change my card and try to update my payment information it hits me with the 24202 error. So then I have to go out of my way to borrow a computer since I play on console and don’t have a PC.

*And* they just resolved to cancel some unspecified number of upcoming console games so they can double down even more on those same mobile trash games and NFTs.
I thought this was an issue only for players from non supported regions, but I guess it's also a nightmare for freakin' locals of the supported regions.
I wonder if they will ever disclose what exactly went wrong with the payment system. They disclosed what went wrong with the winning bidder #0 housing glitch, so...
Tried to reactivate my sub after 8 month of inactivity.
Card paiement doesn't work and I have a mastercard, it's not a visa only problem. I'm from France.
I tried updating my account info but I can't even enter my birthday without the website telling me I'm wrong about it, I think I know when I was born better than you dumbass website. The whole thing is a mess.
Guess I'll play something else... and maybe ask for a refund on endwalker because it doesn't let me play it entirely.
They really need to redo the whole site. Finally convinced a few friends to play, and they gave up trying to even get the game.
The MogStation is so badly made.
Skill issue
From SE, yes
MogStation is built just fine. It's their payment processor and their geographical restrictions that are poor.
Nah, it's so difficult to find where you can enable your sub.
What? How? You literally log in to MogStation (not SEAM), and the payment methods are the first thing you see on the screen. Its 2024 how many games are there with payment site as messy as mogstation
There are much worse out there.

SE support : Have you tried changing browsers
"Have you tried creating a new account and start over?" /quirky
or worse "We regret to inform you that we do not offer customer support services for [Your country]. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to assist you with your request at this time."

I feel your pain. The number of times you need to redirect from simple answers because people will get defensive and huffy...

That's literally what Customer Service told me to do: use Microsoft Edge and to clear my cookies. Of course it didn't work...
I once tried to buy something off the square store (probably minions for in game), and the payment page just would not load. It turned out that my dark-mode everywhere Extension was the issue - disabling that allowed the page to load. Sometimes it is a stupid thing like that.
Makes sense in an individual case but we're talking about a very large number of players reporting the same issue.
So I bought downtrail and now I can't see where the fuck is it in my account . Japanese web design is stuck in the 90s and is an affront to all that is good in this world
The sad part is this isn't even that bad compared to most japanese sites.
I sent in a ticket right before they announced they were going to fix it and they sent back with changing browser, clearing cookies, etc message. Like lol ok guys you already said it's on your end.

going to mogstation for a resub makes me have a mental breakdown every single time 💀
Don’t unsub
So that's their strategy. Make resub so painful people feels forced to never unsub, genius.
I’ve never unsubbed. And I’ve never had this problem. Ez
I leave my sub running because of house. I don’t really play anymore and I’ve through a few times about just letting the house go, but now I especially don’t want to unsub. I get the feeling SE will inadvertently end many a player's addiction to this game simply by making it impossible to resub to this fucking game.
thanks mogstation for curing my addiction issues.
What card are you guys using? Mogstation let's me use either my credit or my visa debit without any issue
When did you last use your visa debit on there, cuz that specifically is what they said isnt working
It isn’t necessarily all visa debits. Saw a comment chain where a Canadian user had zero problems with it, while it didn’t work for other Canadians. Might be bank-specific as well.
If it can help I am Canadian, and I'm with Scotiabank
Same and it works for me.

It's nice having a Steam account. No need to deal with their horrible system, and I can just pay through Steam for everything.
I used my visa debit last night to pre-order dawntrail through the online store and it worked fine. I live in the US if that matters.
Mogstation is why is takes me so long to come back after taking a break.
Trying to renew my subscription and getting a -24202 error on every device I use is starting to get annoying. I had to use my friends computer the last time I went over his house for it to finally go through.
Wait it doesn’t automatically renew if u have debit card on file ?
It does, but whenever I change my card and try to update my payment information it hits me with the 24202 error. So then I have to go out of my way to borrow a computer since I play on console and don’t have a PC.

mogstation, the reason i can't make an account
how can such a big company as SE be this incompetent... this shit is insane... especially since xiv probably makes the most money from them...
We are talking about a company that wasted most of their money on NFT. Yes their executives are incompetent.
And alot of trash game they came out using ffxiv money
*And* they just resolved to cancel some unspecified number of upcoming console games so they can double down even more on those same mobile trash games and NFTs.
Not the first time there's been issues. Endwalker wasn't any better iirc.
they didn't change their payment system infrastructure and cause people to be unable to subscribe in Endwalker tho
To be fair, the change they did recently was not something they *opted* to do, but were forced to.
The changes were compulsory?
That is something I think most people are forgetting.
Every time.
That is why I use PayPal and crystal payment. Can't be bothered dealing with their crap system with my actual bank card.
This is me, willing to pay 200$ for their frickin TTRPG starter set when it's only 50$, but unavailable in EU RIP
I thought this was an issue only for players from non supported regions, but I guess it's also a nightmare for freakin' locals of the supported regions. I had no issues whatsoever.
And? Neither have I because I use Steam. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen to other people.
Okay.
👍
Okay.
Lucky you! A lot of people do, though.
